Don't cross the Stream
General | Posted 14 years agoI would like to start streaming all my work. Why? Well, it worked better than I expected, I like company, and I wanna make new frans. Also, I figure it could be entertainment to someone.
Keeping this in mind, I will be taking suggestions / requests to challenge myself. I work in pencil and water colors right now. Please think of some things you'd like me to attempt and share them when I stream next.

That Wiggle Dress
General | Posted 14 years agoJust putting out something I am proud of.. I fit into my favorite dress again. It hasn't fit in 4 years. It is still a little snug, but I was so comfortable I wore it to work today. I walk/photohike occasionally, but not enough (I didn't think so at least) to merit some body reshaping. I am still curvy and proud, but this was a pleasant surprise.
It goes on my list of presentation outfits for my studies. Speaking of which, I am still very excited for the opportunity to panel at Megaplex. I look forward to meeting everyone.
Cons I am trying to raise money for:
Morphicon
FWA
AC
I need to find more people I am comfortable rooming with.

Dinner
General | Posted 14 years agoSometimes, the simplest things can be the most delicious. I pan fried a chicken breast and spruced up some instant ramen with a bit of sauce my family makes with tomatillos. Sketching a lot tonight, wishing to hear from some peoples that have been having some issues locally, and just found out a guy who graduated high school with me just got caught in a pedophile sting. I am still not sure how I feel about this.
Plus one Scanner
General | Posted 14 years agoJor was nice enough to gift his dusty scanner/printer for me, so I can scan naughty bits or just 'hard to explain to my grandmother' sketches without hassle. Not that I have a problem with her seeing it, I just don't want to have to wait for her to be awake for me to get into the backroom to scan. I am a bit of a nightowl. She is not.
So, with that said, I am going to be scanning my sketches. Nightly. Whenever I can get them up, I will get them up. Each one is practice and confidence building exercise. The more I do them, the more comfortable I get. Push and push until I zap all my lack of thoughts out of my brains. Push push and push until I have lots to share, for the sake of sharing.
In other news, I will be checking out a car tomorrow I spotted on the c-rage-list. It is likely a pipe-dream, but my conscious is catching up to me with all these rides. Two years is enough. My friends and family know I love them, and appreciate their efforts.. but I have dragged my heels for too damn long.

What do you find yourself sketching most often?

AC and Why I am not There
General | Posted 14 years agoI had offers to go 'free ride' that were the sketchiest, never make it out of the hotel alive kind of offers.. Last I checked I didn't have 'cockwhore' tattooed on my forehead. Something about the requirement of 'anything I want any time I want' ended the conversation real quick. Long story short, money is tight and I graduate college this Fall.
Megaplex event director was kind enough to humor my internship request, so I am able to squeeze out my last couple of credits and finish my 6 year long 4-year degree. But.. what then?
I had an epiphany and a personal get your ass in gear chat with a new friend, even if he doesn't realize it was partially his fault. So I looked at my options. There are a couple pockets of activity here in Florida I could get wrapped up in, but my grad school goals will not be satisfied within state. I have to go elsewhere .. mainly, Texas or Maryland.
Now grad schools I have been brooding over for three years now. University of Maryland or UT:Austin. I know absolutely no one in Maryland. I have extended family in Texas, Louisiana, and well Florida. So my decision has become clear. Within the next 6 months to a year, I will be tying off loose ends, graduating college, take my GRE, and move to Texas. I am a patient type o' person, so I will be doing this right. Saving 6 months rent and dropping it into a savings account. Transferring jobs. But most importantly, securing a vehicle that can handle the 15+ hour drive.
Next year, I plan to attend FWA as my last drive to Con for a while, and AC.

General | Posted 14 years agoI am looking for a few volunteers to bounce some ideas off of regarding my panels. You don't have to be the kind of person who runs them, just the kind of person who has attended panels. What do you like about them? What really turned you off to them?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Sketches, Doodles, and Art
General | Posted 14 years agoSo it took me a very, very long time to work up the nerve to post my sketches. But, I did it. No looking back.
Megaplex 2011 now featuring Vopisca!
General | Posted 14 years agoAhhhh~ I got approved for 2 of my panel ideas. Granted, I only applied for them, but JR is so supportive and friendly I am so glad that I decided to go this route. For anyone who is interested, these are the two panel abstracts. There will also be a Meet-and-Greet with me so that I can introduce myself, define my intentions, and let people get a feel off me before I ask/talk about touchy subjects.
Totemic Furs, Animism, & Spirituality
An overview of animism, totemic practice, and a discussion of animal reverance in various cultural traditions around the world. Discuss several case studies of individual furries own spiritual beliefs, and then open the floor up to some discussion about what spirituality is to the attendees, how or why it is important to them, and how they express themselves spiritually. If there is time, there will also be conversation in regards to how spiritual identity relates to their fursona. Attendees are encouraged to approach this panel with an open mind and the area will be considered a 'safe space' for the duration of the panel discussion.
This panel is acting as one part of a required internship credit for the hostess' Bachelor's of the Arts in Cultural Anthropology. There will be handouts, contact information given, and voluntary surveys to fill out and return to Heather by the end of Megaplex 10.
Paracosms, Identity, & Role-playing
A prepared discussion regarding the concept of paracosm, that will highlight and explain the contemporary studies surrounding the idea of 'long term playing pretend' and the relevant topics therein to the furry fandom and enthusists alike. The topics will range from identity and how anthropomorphication to the identity of an individual can be both benefitial and detrimental, how role-playing is a necessary skill for being successful in a social realm and can also grant entertainment value, the importance of cultural relativity and keeping an open mind, and ultimately how these concepts keep us sane. There will be a focus on the idea of characterization versus identity modification, with regards to perception of the individual furry. Attendees are encouraged to approach this panel with an open mind and the area will be considered a 'safe space' for the duration of the panel discussion.

I highly encourage anyone curious to come to the panel! It will be fun. I just hope I do not overlap with anything of the main events. >__<

Megaplex 2011
General | Posted 14 years agoLooks as though I got a roommate settled for Megaplex, which dramatically reduces overall cost and makes things affordable. And he is SO sweet. Helps that he smells like a bakery and tastes like cookies. IT HELPS.
Anyhow, I am also trying to get approval for a couple panels at the Megaplex. Not sure if I will get the go-ahead, but I will be so ecstatic if I do. So far I have 4 panels and a meet-and-greet with me so people get to know who I am and what I plan to do with the information they give me. This will count as my Senior exit project at UWF and my internship credit. So much better than my other option.

2011 Resolution
General | Posted 14 years agoSo.. no more counting. Just posting. So hi, most of what I will be uploading is going into scraps. I only have a webcam to take pictures of my drawings and I don't want to get fussed at. BUT please take a peek? It would mean a lot to me. If you read my other journals.. it has been a long time for me to work up the nerve to post my art. <3

General | Posted 17 years agoHrm. Three years and only a single, unfinished upload. I think I may have finally broken my fear of scanning my artins. I do not claim to be the best, and I am a piss-poor example of a artist, but they are mine, and I enjoy sharing them in person, so why not on the net?
*taps chin*
I will have to change this soon.

'eylo. I am lazy but I will get to it eventually. I have some stuff to scan and then this site will not be so bare bones.
I have never gotten the balls to post my stuff on the web until now and we'll see where it goes from there. I have had many influences and several people have really inspired me to get my stuff out there, so, it'll be coming.
Sooner, than later.
