Seeking Web Designer
Posted 7 years agoI am in the market for a talented web designer. (Must be a legal adult)
I'm not sure what current fair rates are, so pricing will be negotiable.
All projects are currently furry related one way or another.
Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript are strict requirements.
Experience with JQuery, Bootstrap and Fontawesome are bonuses.
Experience with Smarty (a PHP template engine) is a *huge* bonus.
The most immediate project involves updating an existing single-page site to improve readability, navigation, and general "user appeal" to retain interest.
It is an informational site (with adult references, but no actual adult content), and has no forms or database.
It may remain one page, or possibly broken into two or three.
If applicable, I may consider a 'pre-existing template' style website - but I would prefer that a designer be capable of building a site specifically tuned to the the content and intended audience.
There are two other sites I am also looking to see progress on. The designer for the prior mentioned site does not necessarily need to be able/willing to tackle these two, but it would be a bonus not to have to find multiple designers.
Both websites are very database heavy with lots of pages, user interaction, forms/actions/etc, and absolutely will require knowing or learning Smarty.

Finally Caught Up

Hopefully I can keep up and not fall behind in the future.
One of the biggest setbacks is motivation to photograph, as it is such a hassle and it never turns out right. Lighting, white balance, perspective, slightly curved pages that won't stay flat, etc.
Scanning would be so much easier, except the bed isn't big enough, so then it's a hassle to stitch! Need to find a way get a big enough scanner bed to handle all my artwork.. or build a custom frame to make stitching line up more exactly. Or something. Huff.
Still have to figure out how to show what originals I've purchased, too... just need to figure out how to do that in a way that's not intrusive to the artists copyright. Hrrrm!

Posted 8 years agoFor those that don't know, I've been manually creating convention maps in photoshop for a few years - it's tedious, and just gives you a piece of paper print out.
It's about time to upgrade, I think.

Boring Blender Streaming
Posted 8 years agoI got a better photo-to-3d of the mandible, yay! Teeth came out much better, still not as detailed as I'd like though. But still, much better.
I like that twitch records/stores videos, and has lots of neat analytics - but I'm not sure I like their policies.
I think I like picarto better for policies (seems more lenient on adult material), and I don't want to have more than one place, so I think I'll stick with picarto for now. It seems lotsa furries are already there, which is neat.
So anyway, working on the mesh more tonight. Boring streaming, whee! Probably for the next few hours.

Posted 8 years agoSo migration is somewhat on delay as I figure out how to handle non-commissioned purchased pieces, also due to my distraction working on a 3d model to print for a new fursuit head.
Suggestions are welcome regarding legality and ethics for posting non-commissioned purchased pieces. I have a *lot* of originals that I've purchased, and would like to upload photos/scans of them (particularly ones that I've not seen online before), but obviously I don't want to step on any artist's paws!
I'm thinking the best course is to start with a broad sweep and send a note/email to all the artists I have pieces from, and ask them directly. The real question comes from what to do if they don't respond, or otherwise are unavailable, or sadly no longer with us.
Anyway, once I clear that up, I'll start migrating pieces and such. I don't want to just start migrating because FA forces ordering by upload date and I'd like to the gallery to be in a semi-chronological order.
As for working on my new head, I've got a replica skull, paid to have it CT scanned - which while useful for the STL, the teeth sadly turned out horrible. I've tried a few photo-to-3d apps, but none have gotten the teeth-detail I'm after. So, I'm modeling it myself!
If anyone's interested for whatever reason in watching the boring process, I made this and will be there periodically -

However, since FA added folders/groups, I think I'm going to move everything from those accounts to here and have just one - sorting them into their own folders/groups.
So, apologies if anyone actually watching here suddenly gets a lot of updates with stuff they've already seen from the other accounts.
Notably, I'm working on scans/pictures from AC2016, AZFC2016, MFF2016, and FC2017 to upload - so there will be new content coming in due time as well.
I also am likely going to start posting pieces I've purchased, as a representation of my collection of originals - I *think* that's okay for me to do, from what I understand about terms, since I purchased the original I presume I can post my own picture of it. If I'm incorrect though someone please let me know! Presuming that goes through, there'll be a lot of pieces coming from that as well.. but will take a while to get them all.

Here's what's changed-
Complete rewrite of NPC AI - Using a new version of GOAP written from the ground up. Still has some bugs, but seems to work okay so far.
Menu button -> Respawn should work now
Running now drains your stamina. Sleeping recovers it quickly.
Better camera follow after what happens when you're digested and disposed of.
Compies can jump attack! It doesn't do any additional damage though, yet.
You can now eat compies only if you have enough stamina.
When you eat compies, they will 'struggle' every few seconds when they take damage - Until they die inside you, then digest away!
Every time they struggle, they'll also hurt you and drain your stamina.
If you lose all your stamina, you cannot contain them anymore - and they'll get out!
The big red battle dragon is now killable, but has a fair bit of HP.
He'll eat you if your hp/stamina is too low.
If you still have some stamina left, you can struggle every few seconds while being digested - you might escape.
Still Wants: Usable items, inventory, skills to represent eating/being-eaten/etc, more NPCs.

Added a better (if temporary) 'control panel' - showing various keys. Added two more actions, F/Swallow and Z/Sleep.
E - still 'eat', but only for corpses
F - swallow a live compy (they'll hurt you while digesting until they've passed out!)
Z - sleep (Increase digestion speed and hp recovery)
Did a bit more work on skills in general, slow arduous process.

Got a basic skill-window (press 'k'), with a few silly skills. Only two have hover states at the moment, and gain skill-experience. But the proof of concept for these features seems to be working, so far.
Also worked on drag-and-drop, which will be used for moving skills into the action bar. Right now action bar icons can be swapped around, but it just moves the icon - not the particle effect assignment. Little steps...
Worked a bit on scroll-areas, only implemented in the credit window.
Also worked on resizable windows. The actionbar can be scaled by click-dragging the tiny little slivers on the left/right sides.
So I still gotta play with usable items, inventory, actually-useful skills, new NPCs, and finish the skills window.. basically everything I wanted to do Friday! Doh.
Eat (digest) compies to gain XP. Every 10xp unlocks another "skill".
Skills don't do anything, except play pretty particle effects, just to see what some effects can do.

The 'skill' bar starts in a weird place, I didn't anchor it right; it can be dragged by click/dragging on the little text above it.

Done in a couple days of work, using Unity3d. It's very cheesy. Those URLs *will* change in the future.
All the assets are free off of Unity's asset store or other 3d/sound resource sites.
Run: shift
Jump: space
Attack: Left mouse
Eat: e
"Squat": x
Leap: D+Left Mouse (backwards and attack)
The AI is pretty dumb, and often circles around you.
Your own attacks have to be lined up a little too perfect, try backing up if you can't hit.
The grey transparent thing is vision debug.
I'll either post new journals or update this one as I add to the little silly game. What's better? Update the same journal, or make new ones and delete the old ones? Or maybe a file submission instead of a journal?
Also notably, it's not meant to be a dinosaur/compy game, that's just the model I had available. Not that I mind having compies, but that is not my end-goal.

Done in a couple days of work, using Unity3d. It's very cheesy. Those URLs *will* change in the future.
All the assets are free off of Unity's asset store or other 3d/sound resource sites.
Run: shift
Jump: space
Attack: Left mouse
Eat: e
"Squat": x
Leap: D+Left Mouse (backwards and attack)
The AI is pretty dumb, and often circles around you.
Your own attacks have to be lined up a little too perfect, try backing up if you can't hit.
The grey transparent thing is vision debug.
I'll either post new journals or update this one as I add to the little silly game. What's better? Update the same journal, or make new ones and delete the old ones? Or maybe a file submission instead of a journal?
Also notably, it's not meant to be a dinosaur/compy game, that's just the model I had available. Not that I mind having compies, but that is not my end-goal.

BLFC & Rambling
Posted 9 years agoAt one point I vowed never to go to BLFC - because not only do they allow BD there, they go above and beyond in comparison to other dealers.
But I went, for a couple reasons; most of which are highlighted in my ramblings. I added a few things to the 2016 year accounting for BLFC, and moving into my house again. I also have now removed the censor, so all of the companies, names, and terms are revealed by default. The link is in my previous 'Rambling' journal post.
Ultimately? I had a good time, I am glad I went, and it is good to be in my own house again. Lots of emotions, but I believe I'll get through it. I got through BLFC, and I'll get through this.
Also, if anyone has any pictures/video of me in
badgermeles suit, or especially with the giant
lupragryph plush, please send links!

Posted 9 years agoThough I am still extremely tentative about doing so, I have finally been convinced to post this. Part of me wishes I had years ago, part of me wishes I still hadn't.
It really is little more than a mess of boring rambling. I'd honestly be surprised if anyone actually bothered to read it, much less take anything away from it, and I can't imagine it will actually change anything.
At worst, I expect to receive flak, as much as I may hope not to.
At best, I can only hope that someone might walk away questioning the integrity of those involved.
Sadly I am not the only one with history involving those mentioned.
Some of their stories remain untold, a few have been disclosed in private confidence, and fewer yet have been made public.

Posted 10 years agoThe past couple years I've put together a map for myself, though never thought much of it; mostly in that I tag it with my own notes for my vorish tastes. Occasionally I'd get asked for a copy, and printed a few extras I'd give out. I figured this year I may as well share what I use ahead of time, in case anyone finds it useful. I'm still working on some things, so it will change between now and the con.
Base image is here, or alternatively the path for all the files, including the PSD.
I also put a "copy" of the spreadsheet I use to store notes and print an alley-quick reference from, here.
Personally, I normally double-side it so the alley spreadsheet is on one side and the den map is on the other.
In that directory there's also a copy of blank 'commission forms'. I pre-fill it with my own info and print 3x2 per sheet, on that nifty 2-sheet carbonless-copy paper, one for myself and one for the artist. It's surprisingly cheap at Kinko's. If anyone finds them useful, too. *shrug*
Feel free to note any suggestions. It's far from perfect, dunno if it'll be useful to anyone else, just thought I'd share in case.
Anyway, if you're headed to AC, please feel free to say hello! I'm most easily spotted in suit, nomming innocent little beanie babies; or running around with a 'Badger' and 'Rethoras' badge, with a red backpack and big white tiger (who's lost her stripes x.x) on my back.
Also, go to "Who's Lion is it Anyway"! Don't ask questions, just go! Unless it's "Question's Only". Then you can ask questions.
