General | Posted 5 years agoTo open, when I talk about my past it's usually an anecdote or reference but I rarely go into much detail. I feel like I need to vent, though, and as my FB is full of family I can't write this on there or any other social media. I doubt my family would look at this site for me so....this is where it goes. This is going to be a bit long and nobody has to read it.
The holidays as well as the last few months have been particularly bad for me. This has nothing to do with Covid or the election, everyone is tired of those topics so I will assure anyone reading this now that they have no bearing on the following.
So, to understand why I'm having an issue now you have to understand where I come from. I was born in NJ, I have three older siblings and I had two younger siblings. I say had because my youngest brother committed suicide ~11 years ago, not important to this story but so anybody understands why I might refer to him in the past tense. Anyway, our family wasn't particularly wealthy but the house I was born into was decently large. My dad is a Viet-Nam vet and he suffers from very bad PTSD, my mother has multiple undiagnosed mental health issues. (You'll probably understand if you continue reading) My dad developed a very bad drinking problem, and he would get into fights with my mom, physical ones. I was told he also hit my older sister (B for convenience) but I don't remember ever seeing this. My mother claims he used to beat us as well but...even though I try my hardest I can't remember him doing anything other than spank me with his hand a few times when I was bad....and one time he washed my mouth out with soap for refusing to stop using cuss words. My mom on the other hand, I remember being beaten severely any time she was in a bad mood.
I will give a few examples so, trigger warning: Slapping my face multiple times (I was told I must keep my hands down) beating me with a wooden mixing spoon until it broke, she had this gnarled old hairbrush the dog chewed on she would hit us with (it had little spiky bits where the dog chewed it so it would leave cuts as well as bruises) she used one of dad's belts (sometimes using the buckle-end) and one time I remember her being mad that I hadn't mopped the floor well, it was still wet and messy (I was 7 or so) and she grabbed me to use my shirt to dry off the floor and then threw me across the kitchen into an old rusty bar-stool. I sorta hit the stool sideways and a jagged piece of metal took a little chunk out of my calf, I still have the scar.
She was also mentally and emotionally abusive. I won't give examples but the part of that which is important here is every Christmas and New Year she would throw a huge tantrum. She told us we ruined her life, how she wished we were never born, ect. She also smashed the tree, gifts, threw things, and generally made the holidays crap.
My parents split when I was around 11 I think and my mom got way worse. I would find out later that she lied about allot of stuff, including during my little brother's funeral claiming my dad was a pedo and that was why my little bro committed suicide. This is the kind of thing she does.
I can say that she has gotten better but considering how bad she was when I was little any positive change is a big step.
So, to a more recent year. She took me in about 9ish years ago, trust me I very much appreciated it, and I had a pretty rough time for a while. (Actually this was about the time I found the fandom so, YAY!) Struggling to find a good job and improve myself. The goal since moving out of NJ, because it is way too expensive to go it alone there, was to move to the country, get a good job, and find someplace where I could afford to live alone for the first time in my life.
About 5.5 years ago I landed a job at the gas station and I started making decent money. But the house we were living in was in bad shape and my mom and I discussed where to go. We, which is to say I, started looking for something else. We couldn't buy because my credit was trash and we had no money...and I admit I was not frugal or careful with my funds. A little over two years ago I found a large house for sale, mostly due to my mother vetoing anything smaller than a three bedroom, and we negotiated a rent-to-buy agreement with the landlord.
At the time it was a good idea, it solved our problems...for a while. However shortly after buying the house I began to shoulder more and more of the load of the house onto myself. Me chipping into the bills became me paying all of them solo. I wash most of the dishes, I clean the house or it generally doesn't get cleaned, I pay for all of the repairs, I have to come up with the property taxes. I even spent the last 2 years paying off ~$5,000 of my mom's debt. (there were multiple sources: gas, water, electric, car loan, among others)
After this last year I have been suffering from panic and anxiety attacks from stress struggling to keep the house, work stress, never having enough money, my mom's....issues. (I don't know what to call it) And to top it all off I couldn't go anywhere because of current world events.
I realized a few things in the last months:
I'm not happy.
My mother is manipulating and using me again, I have not had a truly good holiday season in years.
I sacrificed my happiness and my goal of living alone because I felt....I don't know. I felt like I owed her something? I felt sorry for her? I felt responsible for her? Maybe a little bit of all three?
I realized that I have been pushing away my life in order to pay for a house I can't afford, with needed repair I can't pay for, with a person that uses me and knowingly manipulates my empathic nature to get me to do what's best for her, even if that thing would hurt me.
And I know she isn't a monster, she's my mom...I still love her. But I came to the decision that I can't keep this up. It isn't possible for me to continue this way.
So a few months ago I started house shopping. Long story short (too late XD ) I found a house I liked. It's small, and not much to look at, but it's nice and cozy and just enough for me and my pupper.
I am about two weeks away from closing on the house.
My eldest sister (L for this instance) is pissed at me for moving out, claiming I am hurting mom. We aren't talking anymore. This has destroyed my holiday this year, despite enjoying my time at B's house for Christmas I still had to go through the mom tantrums and my sister L getting progressively colder. My older brother (S) isn't taking sides but from what I've gathered from other family he isn't happy with me either. (though I find that a bit hypocritical as he hasn't spoken to my mother in DECADES)
This last year, particularly the last few months, haven't been fun for me personally. And that isn't even including the social unrest, disease, and general shit show 2020 was!
I am determined though. This is happening. I'm moving out. I've already made it clear to my mom that I'm not doing this out of spite. I don't WANT to hurt anyone. But this decision is something I didn't make lightly. I have been agonizing over it for a very long time. I lost half my family over this, my mom says she understand but still does her tantrum thing and I can't tell if she is being manipulative or she is genuinely upset...I mean, probably both.
I can't take it back though, and I'm not sure I would if I could. I'm rambling. I'm just so tired. My heart is sore. I need to get away from this toxic situation.
If you've read this far, thanks...I don't really need advice or anything. I just needed to get this down somewhere....I'm not sure if I actually want this to be seen. Part of me does but part of me is afraid my sister is right and I'm being a piece of garbage.

I can do pick up if you are in PA/on the way to Virginia. Flight to Floridaa
General | Posted 8 years agoWell I just completed the first of 2 flights today, and the first time flying ever. Waiting on the connecting flight in Baltimore, which leaves in roughly an hour and seven minutes.
It's honestly hard to describe flying, to me it felt like the gentlest roller coaster ever designed. I thought it was fun. And for all the stink people make about security it was a breeze, I went through in under 2 minutes. And no problems finding my gate.
Not that I wasn't nervous, but it wasn't bad at all.
The view from the plane was AMAZING! That "buildings like postage stamps" saying is actually pretty accurate. It was cool taking off while it was still dark out and seeing the lights below, seeing the strings of cars on the highways, and the sunrise on the horizon. Beautiful. and getting to see the ocean below as we approached the Baltimore Airport was definitely a treat.

General | Posted 8 years agoHonestly I have attended AC since 2013 and I have felt a disconnect with the con last year. I normally show up late Thursday morning and stay til late Sunday night. Usually I hold my suiting until sometime Friday so I can enjoy the con first and see friends and take pictures. The problem is that since my first year I have seen a big decline in any kind of fursuit interest as the con goes on.
Now, for those of you who don't suit, I can explain why this is a problem for me. My first two years I was at AC I got pictures taken, shook hands, hugged, goofed around, people seemed excited to see me....then in the years since I have noticed much less of all of the above happening.
I have been concerned that Noir wasn't fun anymore (for whatever reason) and it really has been bothering me. The fandom has become a big part of my life in the last four years and five months. With my full time job and commitments it has become harder to go to meets and see my friends...so while fursuiting definitely ISN'T the most important thing about being a furry, it's important to me.
Now this 2 Gryphon thing is going on I don't know what to think. I was already thinking of not going this year, as I had WAY more fun at two smaller cons I attended last year: Fur the More (FtM) and Western PA Furry Weekend (WPAFW) so maybe I will skip it this year and see how I feel.
Anyway I will be attending FtM and hopefully WPAFW this year again so maybe I can get my shit together to find the time to get back into the furry saddle, as it were.

Thriller Dance Video! My hopes for this Halloween.
General | Posted 9 years agoOkay people, I have been wanting to do this for a long time and have been procrastinating. I really would like to get a group together and do a thriller dance video for Halloween this year. That gives us four and one half months to practice the steps. I know that isn't allot of time but this isn't exactly a television production either so...
Basically I have 2-3 people interested so far, i have no idea how much support I can garner before the video, but I do know that if you want to be in the video you must have some sort of costume to be in it. The costume DOES NOT need to be scary, I will be wearing a fursuit as will some of my friends, so any costume is welcome as long as it IS a costume. (IE being a hobo or a nerd don't cut it, but a juggalo or Gene Simmons is acceptable.)

Who would be interested in a D&D campaign?

My medium would be a Skype call and Ideally I would like 2-5 players involved with me as the DM. I have my own dice as well as books and I have drawn up character sheets to use on a word program. If you don't have dice there is a very nice virtual dice roller here: https://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm
I will be using D&D 3.5 with some house rules in this campaign. I am pretty sure I know one person who would play, so I will need 1-4 more players or so before I would even consider playing. I only ask that we be able to gather one night a month to play via Skype, to be set and organized as our schedules permit, and that in regards to fairness that NOBODY cheat. Players caught cheating will be warned ONE TIME only before they are DM slapped into permanent character death and banning from future games. (I hate cheating)

My requirements are only that you at least have speakers so you can hear me, voice preferred but not required, have at least an open enough schedule to play for a few hours one night a month (at least), and you are ready to have some fun!

I don't know if I can do an apartment on my own atm so I might be looking either for a roommate or someone who might need one.

Updates and a request for my watchers.
General | Posted 11 years agoFirst of all I want to say I'm sorry for all my absences, still working on things here and still have lots of videos waiting for uploads with no way to get them out. The only thing I can upload at the moment are text files or pictures, as the videos are all several gigs in size and would take much longer than I have time to do. This will soon bring me to my next point but first:
I am hoping to make the next furmeet at Fernando's, which is March 13, budgeting may be difficult so I will let you know if anything changes.
Now, if you don't mind, I have a request. Right now I am doing a series of Skyrim fanfiction stories where I am playing the game and actually recording the gameplay as close to actual as possible. General | Posted 11 years agoI'm sorry I've been out of touch, my summer job ended and so I had to go back to hunting for work. I'm just about to start a job but with bills it will take a while to get rolling, which means no furmeets or (even worse) no internet at home until I can afford to turn it back on. I have some videos to upload as soon as I get back but unfortunately it won't be until sometime in February. also concerned about Anthrocon but I'll keep everyone posted as time passes.

General | Posted 11 years agoI have been trying to think of an interesting post for to share on Wed. just for laughs and I think I have something! I didn't want to do just another TMI or a youtube channel update, so here is my idea:
Dreams.
Yes, dreams, I love sharing and talking about peoples dreams. The weirder and scarier they are the better, and by this I am not proposing a contest, but a discussion. I am going to share a dream I had each week and if you have a comment or something to share, or even your own dream you want to share, then that's what we'll do!
Here goes:
This dream was a reoccurring dream I had on three separate occasions, each time the dream got a little longer. It begins with me walking down the sidewalk of a busy city street during the day but it's very old-fashioned, the street itself is cobblestone and all the buildings look like they are from the late 19th century. In the road I am walking alongside there are horse drawn carriages passing each other, but they are all of them black fancy things and they are all drawn by 1 or 2 black horses. I am very nervous, I am walking quickly and I feel afraid of something I can't see but I don't know WHY I am afraid or what it is I'm suppose to be escaping from. I look out into the street at one point and see, for the first time, a closed carriage with fancy gold trim on the roof and the wheels. The driver is looking at me as he draws nearer, he is a skinny thin-faced old man with a tall top hat and he's wearing a large duster. He points at me just as we draw even and says, "hunted, dead."
I freeze watching him, he disappears down the road shortly, so I take off running in the other direction. At some point I come across an open door to my left and I run inside. I am in a long hallway with concrete walls covered in ugly chipped and faded blue-grey paint. (It reminded me of my elementary school) There were two open doors to my left, so I ran into the first one, the room I see is big and mostly empty except for a couple big lunch tables like you see in schools, the 20 foot folding ones. In the middle of the room there is a man holding a mop. He is a tall skinny man with a receding hairline in his thirties wearing coveralls and a stained white shirt. I stop for a second and ask him if there is a bathroom I can use, which prompts him to turn and point at the far wall where there is a large puke-green door.
I thank him and go into the room, which is a modern bathroom with a simple porcelain toilet and sink that has a large mirror above it, unfortunately the top half of the room is painted sickly yellow with that sea-grey-green tile on the bottom half. This is where the dream ended the first time I had it
Take two features everything from the first time but instead of ending the dream in the bathroom I turn to the sink, without looking in the mirror and briefly wash my face. When I DO look into the mirror the person I see isn't the pre-teen boy but a middle aged man slightly soggy around the middle and bald on top. He has blond hair cut short around the back of his head and a round haggard looking face with blue eyes. In that weird dream way I don't know this person, but this person is also me, or so that's the way I feel. After this I sit on the floor under the sink and hug my knees, after some unknowable dream time I stand up again to collect myself.
When I step out of the bathroom there is the janitor still in the middle of the room but this time he looks sort of...blankly at me as if he is half asleep, he raises his left arm and points at me. I suddenly notice a weird shadow in the doorway I entered, which a figure steps through. It's a classic Death figure, skeleton wearing a long robe and holding a scythe, he raises a bony hand to point at me and...
I wake up the second time.
The third time I have this dream is the same, except Death isn't in the doorway this time, instead he is standing next to the janitor, who doesn't seem to notice that the person he's talking to is a reaper. they both point to me so I bolt past them and out of the building. Now the street is filled with carriages just like the gold trimmed one with the old man from before, except this time dream logic tells me that these buggies are all hearses. I turn and run to my right, then try to cut down an alley but as soon as I turn the corner I stop because it is filled with shadows so black you can't see through them, even though in the dream it's broad daylight. The Reaper steps out of the shadows again but THIS time he seems monstrously huge. He points at me and his jawbone opens...
That's it, I wake up in a cold sweat. The three dreams were actually a few years apart but each time they left me with the willies for a few minutes after waking...eug, weird right?

, and myself. Ryuko had a slight butt malfunction and her massive tail needed two people to manage it, the entire time I'm adjusting the tail in different directions for Aizui, who is juggling a needle, thread, and bobby pins. We're all cracking up while talking about "Ryuko's broken butt" XD

Fursuiters Say Monday #4
General | Posted 11 years agoI didn't get any replies to the last post, so here's a little story of my own.
Standing in the downstairs kitchen with Noir spread all over the place and mostly inside-out, I get my can of disinfectant spray from my fursuit box. My niece sees the can as I start to spray the suit.
Angel: "what are you doing?"
Me: "disinfecting my armpits"
Her face was pretty awesome, completely speechless for a few seconds.
