Hey everyone,
As some of you know from my last journal things have been sort of a mess lately. Well we are officially kicking my roommate out, but now we desparately need a new one. He has disrespected me in our own home, is a bigot, and in spite of constant requests not to do so when we were out of town locked one of our cats in the bathroom to the point where he peed on the floor in desperation. He also allegedly stole from me (we can't prove it, but we are 99% sure he took my nintendo 3ds which was a birthday gift from my fiance). We thought we had a new roommate set up, but they flaked 15 days before we need to pay rent.
If ANY of you knows anyone that wants to live in the columbus, OH area with a couple of fun artsy people with 3 cats please let me know!
In OTHER news I have to find a quick way to come up with 1480 rent. My fiance' is currently in a class to get his real estate license as a backup to our art business, and we had a really bad show last month so we don't have enough for our bills this month without a roommate. I don't really have time to do commissions anymore as most of my time is spent trying to create work for our conventions we have been accepted to.

Anyways, I will be livestreaming twice a day next week for a few hours at at time in order to raise 1480 for rent. I will even be accepting some cell shaded commissions. From 10 to noon eastern and from 5 until mindnight or 1am eastern Starting Monday through next Sunday I will be livestreaming. If you want my prices get them below!PRICES:Info Below:
All art will be submitted to my gallery, and all patrons will receive a full rez full scale copy of their purchase.RULES:
-Livestream Commissions are done on a first come first serve basis, unless you have scheduled a specific time with me.
-I will be finishing your piece during the session so you MUST be there if you wish to purchase one of my special stream commissions.
-If for any reason you must step away during the stream once you have purchased a slot, please let me know you are stepping away and when you will be back, so I don't waste any time and can skip down to the next person in line.
-If you are not there when it is your turn and there is no one else to skip ahead to, I will be going ahead with your commission, and there will be NO tweaks or fixes, or edits unless you wish to pay an additional fee. My goal is to finish all commissioned art within a single session so each new stream starts new art and new pay. This is my job so I apologize if that sounds harsh, but time is money, and I need this to run smooth.
-When you ask for a slot in stream please send me only one note and include the following:
- What you are buying: Sketch, Linework, Flat, Cell Shade, TF sequence?
- If TF sequence How many pages?
- Anthro or Feral Character?
-What is the Content? WG or regular?
- If you are a new client have your 'sona or character references sent, and also your email address you wish to use for me to send you your invoice. If you have a different email from the one you pay on that you wish to receive your art at, send that as well.
- If you are a returning client just have any new elements referenced for me if you want something to be specific like a prop or animal species.
If your piece isn't finished during the session it will be completed at the beginning of the next session. (if it spills over into a second session you may work out with me a special time for me to stream when you can attend again, and you will be first priority in next stream you are at.) LIVESTREAM SPECIAL PRICESNOTE: Livestream Special prices are cheaper than my off stream commissions. They are meant to be quicker and done within a session so expect your sketches to be looser and rougher. Posted 9 years agoHey everyone! I'm so sorry I've been MIA. I know I also still owe and need to finish a couple of things. We've been traveling for work a lot, even going cross country twice within a month and are exhausted. Our last show didn't go well financially, but we did meet some wonderful people and make some great connections. The convention president felt bad sales weren't good and even made sure Malvir has a great birthday, since it was spent at a convention.
We have some really awesome news! I got accepted to Dragoncon, which is one of the toughest conventions to get into. I had to get a loan just to secure our booth, but hopefully if I can make enough sculptures and edit my book in time it will go well.
Now on to other news:
We have been having a lot of stress and drama with our current roommate. He has been disrespecting me, is bigoted, and also locked one of our cats in the bathroom to the point it peed on the floor. We also both think he has stolen from me. I feel just heartbroken and actually physically ill. We never have much money for just fun things and Malvir bought me a Nintendo 3ds and a Pokemon game so I would remember to take breaks and have some fun. It is also the Pokemon 20th anniversary so there are special opportunities to get rare ones. I had a bunch of legendaries and was actually enjoying playing with my brother, just like when we were kids. I didn't want to believe it was stolen but 3 witnesses remember where it was left and we have thoroughly torn through the house. I just feel so sad because Malvir never has money and it was my birthday gift. He has tried to get the guy to admit it even saying we will let it go if he just gives it back, but... Nothing.. Anyways, that's been my life lately. We have given him 30 day notice and are looking for other roommates but I'm just really sad. I'm also annoyed it bothers me so much.. Anyways, I miss all of you and will do my best to catch up and make some time to return soon!

Waffles fat fundraiser accepting funds for tomorrow's update
Posted 9 years agoGood news!! I have my office back! I can now resume the fundraiser. Since what would be his next update was only 20lbs I was hoping you guys could throw some more weight at him! We are still in an overwhelming ammount of debt. My last two shows didn't do well although we think we know what we need to do. Transitioning from pony conventions into comic cons is really tough. It's such a diverse audience and its hard to have enough variety. I have high material costs, still owe my web guy money, as well our bills. My fiance' is going to be taking some real estate courses so hopefully he can get on a good financial path to help us out. In the meantime! I am hoping I can create some fun entertainment for you guys and you can help us out of this hole! I will be extending this fundraiser for 3 days! I may even stream the updates! I have a LOT of backlog of work for both cons and people to do so not sure if I will have time to take on full commissions or not yet.

I GOT my cintiq back and then promptly got a virus.. so my roommate is trying to fix it, but I may have to send it back AGAIN. In the meantime I DID finally get my office back so after I catch up on some things I should be able to get back to finishing up the last of the fundraiser donations, and do one more day, (Which we desperately need.)
Life:
Finances have been tight to say the least. I still am in a ton of debt from business expenses, medical, dental, my car is still dead, and I owe my web guy still. Running a business is hard, but we aren't giving up. We just have a lot of learning to do. We have been accepted into some very high profile conventions such as C2E2 and HOPEFULLY we will get our foot in the door for NYCC and beyond. This is wonderful for our business and to become established, but very very expensive. We did ok at C2E2 for first timers meaning we didn't really LOSE money, but we didn't earn what I was hoping either.
We were a big fish in a small pond with anime, and pony conventions, but we know that some of these things are short lived and we need to become established in a more stable market. I have been so busy with so many things that I haven't gotten enough variety to really make the revenue we need at these places. However, we got some great feedback and people are really loving my work especially my "PawsPlay" designs (Our pets in cosplay which can also be found at http://shottsyarts.com/store) and I guess a LOT of people want more of my wire sculptures. I didn't bring many because I didn't know it would be that kind of show. They take me so long to make, and are expensive for materials but now I am finding they are becoming more and more popular and I have to find a way to make them for all of our upcoming shows.
Now my BIGGEST announcement yet! I am now officially a published author!! I have my own IGN and everything! My first book in the series, "Spark" from "The Color of Fire" was published in a limited print run before C2E2 and was a hit! It still needs some revisions and I am going to be illustrating every chapter so this was just a pre-release of 50 copies to get people interested and reading. I will be bringing the remaining books to my other upcoming shows, but to my loyal followers if you would like a pre-release book we can invoice and ship. I am mainly just getting the cost so I can re-print them by September. If you want to see the cover and know more you can here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BDCIIkI.....by=shottsyarts

Cintiq update
Posted 9 years agoJust wanted to update you all. More financial craziness.. I called about the status of my cintiq today. My fundraiser will and must resume as soon as I get it back. We are losing a roommate and we have a crazy amount of bills. My fiancé has two exposed roots in one tooth my car is still dead, and all the other bills are still piling up. Our show we were at was a great one for networking but not for sales and they actually decided to not do it again next year as it didn't take in enough even for the convention. Anyways, thank him all again so much for your help and support we don't know where we'd be without you guys! I have a lot of great things coming soon including my first novel! Update and Waffles fat fundraiser
Posted 9 years agoHey all! My roommate has been on call so haven't had access to my backup computer yet for an update. My cintiq is shipped out so playing the waiting game. Still no working car and our trip wound up not being as fruitful as I hoped so still don't have enough to pay everything I'll update and extend the fundraiser more fervently once I have the means to do my daily updates and continue it. Have another show to prepare for in the meantime in two weeks. NYC and Waffles fat fundraiser update
Posted 9 years agoHey all! I just got home this morning. We didn't make goal so I am extending my fundraiser because we need the funds badly. In spite of some hiccups and not making goal it was seriously the most amazing trip I have ever experienced and I made a lot of great new friends and contacts! I even got us free passes to the New York toy fair because our prototype of our plush was not completed by deadline. I still have limited access to my computer. I will be sending out my cintiq for replacement tomorrow. Our van broke down once one the way from running out of gas and once to get home needing a jump but it was quite the adventure. I guess with all the ridiculous bouts of bad luck I was bound for some good! I'll share more hopefully tomorrow as it's hard to type on my phone. I'll also update waffles with the pounds he got before I left. If anyone wants to get in on the next update I will put any donations tomorrow towards the next one. Thank you again!!

Posted 9 years agoSo as you know I am doing a fundraiser to pay off a slew of debts. So now my cintiq had to be sent in and replaced because the charging cable went bad. I have my large computer but that room is being rented out and I don't have access to it. The fundraiser is still going on but I may have trouble updating on time but will keep track of the days. Today's sketch is done but I don't know when j can get access to my other computer. I'm so upset.
My roommate should be going to work around 10 tonight so I may be able to complete tonight's pic and hopefully get some funds for tomorrow's update. I will extend the time you can get donations in for tomorrow and just have to push everything back. I am just so upset that I'm trying to pay bills and get caught up and I keep having one issue after the other.

Posted 9 years agoHey all! I'm working like crazy on convention stock. We have some great things coming out soon! One is an adorable line of cute fat plush fantasy creatures! Our unicone is close to right and in the final prototyping stages! Keep your eyes on my accounts for updates on kickstarters for all of them, and our limited available test run of some of them that will be for sale!
We will be vending at Ponycon in NYC valentines day weekend and will have the prototypes there.

Posted 9 years agoI'm still chugging away trying to catch up on work! I have some amazing news for all of you!
Malvir and I are finally engaged!! He proposed to me! Here is the story of how he did it:
For those that couldn't be with us yesterday here is the short story of how he proposed:
My fiancé and I had been together for eight years and I was beginning to think he would never pop the question. yesterday December 12th, he took me to breakfast where two members of his family from Indiana met us. This was a surprise. They said they were in town and wanted to see us. Somehow I had the idea for them to see "wild lights at the Columbus zoo" I had wanted to go for three years and it seemed like a good interactive activity. Little did I know this was what he wanted me to do.
He had planned this for a month. Even though I thought it was my idea, we arrived and were met with all of our closest friends. He had royally screwed up my bday this year so he covered saying this was a surprise party to make up for it. He purposely bickered with me all day so I would not think anything were out of the ordinary.
He is just that way. Ha-ha.
We walked around enjoying the lights whilst I helped herd our group, not wanting anyone to get separated in the dark. Suddenly, my boyfriend stopped and all my friends made a circle. I thought we were just taking a picture, when suddenly, my boyfriend turned to thank all of them for being there. There were tears in his eyes and he turned to me. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. One of our friends perfectly captured the moment when he asked me, and the embrace when I said yes. He got me a tanzanite and diamond ring because he told me I am more unique than just a plain diamond. He used to work in jewelry. I am so happy after eight years to start this new chapter with my soulmate, and so blessed to have such great friends that share our lives!
I am currently in the process of creating a patreon because we REALLY need funds so I can afford my art materials and also jumpstart my novel and graphic novel! I have already completed the first 10 or so Chapters that exclusive patrons will get to read before they are released, and there will also be other opportunities such as possible wire sculpture commissions!
I have had no access to my large computer as my office is temporarily being rented so I haven't been able to work on the last staggering commissions I owe. ALl of the started sketches and customer files are on that computer. However I do have my cintiq and have been working on my wire sculptures as well, so I can continue to create new things. I hope a lot of my loyal followers will take this opportunity to help me continue to create and support a story I think will touch a lot of people!

Shirt Sales, Update, and Patreon
Posted 10 years agoSorry I have been gone so long! Our convention season finally has drawn to an end! I apologize again for still being a bit behind on the few looming commissions I owe a couple people. My office is temporarily being rented and it is difficult to work on my big computer that has all my files. In addition I have been swamped trying to stay afloat, run my business, make new product, pay bills, and support two people and three cats. I have been putting off patreon because I really wanted it to be perfect and make sure I can deliver what I promise to everyone.
I think I finally have enough content and stuff I am working on to justify doing it. I HATE asking for help, but I really need it. I need to make my art to make money, but need money to make art.. its a vicious cycle and I sometimes feel like I should just never sleep again. We have a lot of looming bills, and we have realized in order to really grows as a business and make this work we need our own van, instead of always having to rent.
I have some more bells and whistles and organizing for my patreon page before I launch it, but I hope once I do a lot of my followers will PLEASE help pledge! There will be a great many perks, and you will also help me to keep making art!

I am writing a fully fleshed out novel series of the same story I am writing my graphic novel series on. It will be a little different and have a bit more backstory and other fun things that aren't easily accomplished with a graphic novel. I am doing both but the novel may be faster to get out there. I will be offering the first few chapters and possibly even more to specific patrons of my patreon that will have the opportunity to read it before it is released and even see some early versions of the story. I MAY (just like with the graphic novel) Have some opportunities for some higher tier consistent patrons to have their 'sonas or other characters that would work within the constraints of the universe make a couple cameos.

Having taken classes with Joe Murray multiple times and getting to know some other people Clay and I became FB friends, and then recently we met in person at Dragoncon and became art friends! With the end of Aqua Teen Hunger Force he now has time to take commissions! This is a huge lifetime opportunity to get art from a renowned industry artist!

Chugging away on lots of new content!
Posted 10 years agoLots of new shirt designs are coming out soon! I have a line of "Pawsplay" which are my pets in cosplay, and new spirit animal designs on the way! You can see the first design on my other account.
I have a small local vintage toy show I am selling at this weekend trying to unload a lot of stuff and make some extra money to put towards my business.
I am also working on sketches and trying to gather a pitch proposal for my graphic novel project! I know its been slow and I will reveal more as I can, and hopefully launch a patreon in the coming months which will also open up some livestream opportunities for those of you that have been waiting ever so patiently for me to start taking those on again.
My convention season is still in full swing but slowing down and once it does I should be able to work on knocking out the few commissions still looming over my head that I want to just complete.
On ANOTHER note, good news!! I personally may not be able to livestream in a bit, but for those of you that remember "Space ghost coast to coast" and "The Brak show" the voice of Zorak, C. Martin Croaker, who is also a strong animation talent and artist with my help may be livestreaming and taking commissions soon! I am also working on sketches and trying to gather a pitch proposal for my graphic novel project! I know its been slow and I will reveal more as I can, and hopefully launch a patreon in the coming months which will also open up some livestream opportunities for those of you that have been waiting ever so patiently for me to start taking those on again.
My convention season is still in full swing but slowing down and once it does I should be able to work on knocking out the few commissions still looming over my head that I want to just complete.
On ANOTHER note, good news!! I personally may not be able to livestream in a bit, but for those of you that remember "Space ghost coast to coast" and "The Brak show" the voice of Zorak, C. Martin Croaker, who is also a strong animation talent and artist with my help may be livestreaming and taking commissions soon! He will be drawing Waffles in his style soon that I will share once completed so you guys can see how awesome he is! He has worked for cartoon network for years, and I met him at dragoncon and I will be helping him take on commissions and livestream like I do!
Keep your eyes posted as I will be announcing times and helping once he is ready!

Posted 10 years agoSo Who among my watchers would be interested in a fat Waffles plush, and would actually purchase one? In addition I am also going to be having prototypes made of my new "Mythical Munchies" Adorable fat food colored fantasy creatures including Strawberry the dragon, and my unicones. I will be posting concept pics soon!
I am aiming for my plush to be affordable at around 30 a piece Waffles may be 40 since I want ot make a large-ish one with wire in his ears and floppy so he can be a fat ass pillow.

Bronycon was Awesome!
Posted 10 years agoBronycon was the most successful con I have ever had! I can finally pay off my website bill, fix my printer, and perhaps get a replacement printer to make art prints for shows and no longer need to go to staples to get them. I can also pay rent this month. It is good too because my mate is jobless again :( He had a great job with great benefits and they decided to pack up and move the company too far for us to drive without moving, and seeing as how we JUST moved, it was a total not going to happen, so he is looking again.
On another note it was our 8 year dating anniversary today!
Also some good news! I found my tablet pen so after the next couple of conventions are over I should be able to knock out a bit more of my commission backlog. Again I am so sorry to anyone who is still waiting. Things got so crazy. I still am needing to pick up back on my graphic novel project as well, but convention season has been in full swing and I have been busier than I EVER have with my business.
I am also hoping to be launching my online store in the fall. In the meantime don't forget to check out my website so far at Shottsyarts.com! There is even a "Gift art" section for all the Waffles art etc I have recieved in the past.
