So last week the movie, “Zootopia”, was released in America, receiving many praises from audience and critics alike. Currently the movie has achieved the highest grossing animated movie opening thus far and currently stands at 99% on rotten tomatoes, a nearly impossible task, especially if you compare it to the much beloved Pixar movie “Inside Out.” Though among all of the praises it has received and its booming box office numbers, “Zootopia” may have more substance than its edgy social commentary about our society’s stereotypes and racism. Especially for the LGBT community.

Now before you jump out of your seat or hit the comment button berating me on the subtle theories regarding the character Benjamin Clawhauser, let me direct you to another set of Characters! Yes you read that line correctly, characters as in the plural. Two to be exact. “But Warnndog,” you may ask, “What do you mean?” Well let’s revisit an earlier scene in the movie where Judy, just got her “luxurious” apartment. Two Gazelles walk by her, introducing themselves in a very loud and unapologetic way. Initially this scene, much less these two characters, are very easy to gloss over but if we examine the credits. The characters I have mention were given names. One is Bucky Oryx-Antlerson and the other one is Pronk Oryx-Antlerson. Both having the same last name and both last name containing a very common hyphen. Which I find very significant since many same sex couples tend to hyphenate both their last names when they get married. “That doesn’t prove anything, couldn’t they be related in some way?” This of course would be the default thought process, until someone pointed out that these two Gazelles do not share the same species. One is an Oryx (Funny) and the other is a Kadu, two different types of Gazelles, and it seems that generating offspring, in this world, is exclusively limited to couples of the same species. Thus only leaving the option of them being related by adoption and while this is not Far fetch, I feel it is very unlikely.

“So what if they’re gay, why is that important?” Well, it actually means very little in regards to LGBT progress and inclusion. Although it is a move in the right direction, considering up to this point, there have been no LGBT Character, at least none that has been so open, in any of the previous Disney Feature films. These two characters, in my opinion, represent a door being open, for the possibility of more openly gay characters who might one day share the same screen as our Disney Hero’s (Please no gay villians).

In the end, while this would be a landmark move, if it were true. We do have to keep in mind, there has been no official word from Disney. Their intent all along may be adoptive brothers or my assumption on reproduction requiring two member of the same species could also well be way off. In either case it is an interesting prospect to consider. So what do you guys think are Pronk and Bucky gay, or do you think there may be another explanation, or are we all crazy for focusing too much attention on two character who barely have any screen time. As you all know, no more than a day ago it was announced that Oklacon, a con I have been a part of since it's conception, has now closed its door indefinitely. To most this news is disheartening. For some, like myself, this was your first furry convention. Maybe it was your first convention ever, maybe you found your best friend or better yet your significant other and maybe to some it was the worst con you ever attended, but whatever it was to you. It was undeniably one thing to us all. It was our con, it was Oklahoma own furry convention. We were the first and most attended outdoor furry convention in the United States. From its humble beginning as Festival of the Feral to its final session of cowboys and furries, those memories will always be with me, and I know if I keep them close to my heart then oklacon will never truly be gone.

I wish I knew the exact words to write to make all of us feel better. In fact I really don't know how to write this or how should I write it. I am very bad at being politically correct so I tend to stay silent when it comes to official statements. Currently I am serving on the board for Fuzzy Productions, the corporation that runs Oklacon and I fear that any statement I make could be misinterpreted as something official. So let me make this clear right now. All the words, opinions and statements I make here today are of my own and no one else. Let me repeat, only my opinion is represented here today.

So what do we now? Well we remember, we lament and we pay respect to an amazing convention, to its staff, to its volunteers, and most of all to the countless number of attendees that made Oklacon their temporary home for a few days in October. What we don't do is over react and wish harm on a small group of people who are already suffering from the consequences of there own action. We don't act irrationally by taking futile actions that benefit no one. We all need to move beyond this, I know it's painful and everything looks bleak but we'll get by and we'll eventually move on. I know that's the last thing any of us want to hear right now but it is the truth.

At some point something will probably take Oklacon place. I have heard many people talking about hosting an outdoor event, possibly on their own private property, maybe even a group camp at a state park that is outside of Oklahoma. Whatever form the next convention takes, it is my hope that those organizers understand what made Oklacon great. It wasn't that it was an outdoor convention. It wasn't the wonderful charities, the amazing artist, events or panels. No, what made Oklacon special was the community. The founding members of OAAA, the hard work and the risk they gave. Oklacon was not the vision of one individual but the visions of many and without that in mind any new incarnations of Oklacon will not be able to thrive.

I don't know if anything I said made any sense at all but the only thing I have left to say is thank you. Thank you Oklacon and thank you Oklahoma furry community, it has been a great twelve years.

Since it's been a while since I have posted anything, here's a quick little update. Right now I'm working for AT&T, instead of Sprint. The work environment is a tad bit better, but it's still a Call Center job, and it seems in this day and age, it's hard for me to get anything else. Due to my new Job having different rules regarding benefits and couples, the primary being that they have to be legally recognized. Me and James decided to get a shotgun wedding, with tentative plan for a larger wedding in the future.

Oh and keep an eye out on my account for more commissions on Warnndog. I kept asking for commission from different individual artist, after a few weeks of no response I gave up on them, then out of the blue. Here's your sketch. Theirs only one artist I have commissioned that has yet to deliver on anything, but more about that in a later post, if I can't work things out with the artist himself.

Stories. Well I've been working on one. I had suffered a set back to my writing when our car was broken into last Christmas and all my notes disappeared. We were able to salvage a few things but not everything. Hopefully you'll start seeing an influx of that soon. Otherwise, thats about it.

Merry Christmas!

So this is where I am at now. My work has will soon start to enact some policies that will require me to make a sales as opposed to just making a good effort at offering. My alternative? To jump ship and continue doing the same mind numbing job I'm doing but at a different company. This seems to be my only alternative.

I try my best to put in an application for other position but all I get are sales and marketing jobs. I feel like every time I make a valiant effort to look for a job I'm just setting myself up for disappointment. In the past week I have three interviews and two of them I have confirmed to be a sales position. The last one does state is a face to face marketing group, but I may be able to deal with that as long it's not a commissioned based salary.

So chances are, nothing will really change and everything will still suck.

Yule Tide joy and fun are here again. Which means it's time for "Warnndog's and Kojiro's Christmas Party". Every fur out there is welcome to come, so please pass the word around.

I wanted to bring up a topic today that I think is rarely discussed in the Furry Fandom, and I feel it has yet to find a good footing among many readers and that’s Poetry. Now I have written poetry for quite some time, in fact I have written poetry for longer than I have written fiction. Problem with my poetry is, it’s rarely furry and I find it extremely difficult implementing a furry element into my poems. In fiction, most of what you write will probably exceed the neighborhood of five hundred words and I’m being very conservative here. Most publication requires your submission to exceed three to six thousand words, maybe even more. In that plethora of words and letters, you can be as descriptive as possible and give your story the required anthropomorphic twist. I argue that, with Poetry it can be a little more difficult. I think poetry has more things in common with works of art like photography or paintings, than most fiction since it does not rely solely on conflict. It’s more about the conveying of an idea and making that idea resonate with your audience. When conveying such ideas as death, anger, frustration and love. It’s not important to add an obligatory fox or wolf in the corner because conveying that idea doesn’t necessarily require it, and sometimes adding that type of element into a poem can seem a bit awkward or contrived.

I remember submitting a poem to Heat, in which I wrote about two couples in love and I was trying to convey the feelings they had for each other. I had to use words such as paws, tails and muzzle in order to convey the idea that these characters were furry. Though I felt It was a little mediocre at best and I obviously did not get accepted.

So in consideration of all this, do you write poetry and were you able to successfully implement a furry element to your poem. If so, how did you do it? No I’m not talking about wolves howling at the moon or deer running through a forest. I’m talking about full on anthropomorphic animals. If you don’t read poetry and a publication were to be released titled “A book of poems by furry writers” but lets say some of the poems in the book lack anthropomorphic elements to them, would that be acceptable to you and would you still read it? Would you like to see more book published in regards to poetry and the fandom?

Anticipation screams a clouded riddle
Fraught with deprivation and disappointment
Fighting with myself I exceed the breaking point
And my wounds bleed with no cure or ointment
The illumination waits at the finale of this tunnel
though the gap is protracted and my sense’s prevail unawares
Each stride prolongs my journey in oblivion

Many of the post I share on this website, including this one, is there to help me just as much as it is there to help you the reader. Recently I have discovered a trick, when it came to writing. Particularly getting a jump start with a story idea.

I initially came up with this when I was trying to brainstorm on a concept recently. Now bear in mind, this is nothing new and I’m certain that there are many authors out there who have discussed this topic. It’s just that this idea had been given new life for me. My story idea revolves around a bunch of Canine Anthromophs who were being sent into a battle they cannot win. In the story I wanted to focus on how each of these characters would justify their actions defending a society that regards them as an inferior race. Of course there are additional concept they would also be facing, such us death, the afterlife, the possibility of the lack their off, and any or no impact that they may have made on the world. It was kind of a morbid topic but I felt the idea was worth exploring. Though I felt it needed more. Something that could hold a story than a bunch of philosophical and introspective pursuits. Then I made a breakthrough.

I focused on a single character and tried to figure out what that character desired. What did that particular character wanted or hoped to obtain, get or achieve? Once I figured out what the character wanted, I needed to figure out what is stopping the character from obtaining it. And there you have it, the beginnings of the story. Keep in mind I am not abandoning my original concept, I just now have a good idea of where I can start it. Anyway I just wanted to share that thought?

So I decided that, that I need to start getting serious about writing. In the past I have floundered around back and forth. At times I have devoted my full heart and soul into the craft and at others I have given the craft a passing thought. I realize now that I am not going to go anywhere with that type of mentality and I need to develop some good habits in the very least.

What motivated me to do this? Texas Furry Fiesta. I literally arrived at the convention with no desire, with no passion and with nothing under my belt, when it came to writing. In fact for the past two months, my efforts have been focused on finding a new job. Don’t Panic. I’m still working, I’m just fed up with my current employer, that I’m doing everything I can to try and find another one. Or in the very least another way to make some money. Anyway, that’s neither here nor there.

What I really need to ask of you, those who either read my Facebook or watch me on Twitter, is accountability. I plan on making at least one post a week to this blog. Poetry, an excerpt to a story, a review, a rant or an article about a subject matter I share some interest in. So keep an eye out and if I don’t post something within a week from my last post. Then you have my permission to nag, send me chain letter, Drunk phone call or text me…anything you can think of to get me to post. Unless I tell you I’m done with this blog, I need to keep this blog going.

That’s it. No matter what you do, or what I do, I hope I can keep you entertained, interested or offer some insight.

I've been trying hard to get a job doing something else, preferably anything off the phone, or even on the phone as long as it paid more or just as much as the current job I'm in now. Well my efforts so far has been a bust. I tried applying at Paycom, an internet payroll site, and I got an interview, but before the interview, they wanted me to take this "Wonderlic" test. A basic reasoning and general knowledge test but it was timed and I got stuck on a math problems, which left me at question thirty. I can't imagine that I did extremely bad on it, but my score isn't what they were looking for and told me to go home. So 10 years of customer service experience didn't mean a lick, because I couldn't pass one IQ test.

It all seems frustrating and I'm starting get real depressed. Anyway enough of my problems. I'm just glad you took the time to read this.

I know theirs Drama and I know a lot of people are leaving FA? But why? What the fuck guys. Could someone clue me in.

Well I'm fed up with this shit. My Job is lowering our handle time. Which on top of everything else (Dwindling Health Care Benifits, lack of Shift Bids, Etc.), is really pushing me to try and find something else, but what?

I hardly have any skills, and the only thing I've done since 2004 is Tech Troubleshooting and customer service. I would love to break away from being on the phones, but is that possible, or am I doomed to be stuck at a Call Center Job for the rest of my days.

Keep in mind, since I've been working at my current Job for a while, I also have a particular amount money I have to hit to keep up my current standard of living, and i don't know if I can take a pay cut. Since it's not just me I have to worry about.

I don't know, it's all confusing.

Due to the weather and the likely hood of snow covering the roads, some estimates put the snowfall total near 8 inches. I believe it is in the best interest of everyone if we postpone this event one week later. December 14th instead of the 7th. I have communicated with Baral on this issue and we both agree that this would be for the best. I apologize about the inconvenience this may cause some of you. I know that for a few of you, this may prevent your attendance due to scheduling conflicts especially for those of you planning to attend F3. This was the reason why the 7th of December was originally chosen. Again I am sorry, but no matter what your plans are for this December. May everyone have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanuka, Yule, Kwanza and a Happy New Year. Thank you.

Well here's my little update to Nano. It looks like that I will not be reaching my 50 000 word limit. Their are several factors to aided in my failure in this endeavor.

First factor is the time of year. November is just a bad month, besides Christmas Shopping, the Christmas Party I have to plan for and thanksgiving, I also have a lot of thing going on with FFXIV, which my mate has been dragging me away to every night. My work is really no help as well considering I wake up, go home and have enough time to play FFXIV and then go to sleep.

Second Factor is goal. I think my goal was to high. I should have committed myself to writing everyday instead of on the weekdays. Driving my target from 1667 to around 3000. I found out quickly that reaching 2000 words for a day is an amazing feat for me.

Third factor is drive. I really didn't have a good story and my overall feeling in general for this month is just blah. Though out of all the three factors I have discussed, I think this one was the weakest excuse.

Fret not though, I haven't completely given up. I will finish the stories I have outlined and attempt to get to some sort of decent word count in. 25000, Maybe 30000. I also plan on doing a Mynowrimo (MY NOvel WRIting MOnth). A month I can set aside where I know their won't be much standing in my way. Anyway, still haven't given up but I know I won't hit my goal.
