24-hour Livestream for the Extra Life Charity, November 7th!
Posted 10 years agoThe WHEN: November 7, 2015, starting at approximately 10am EST.
The WHERE: MechWarrior Online, and the No Guts, No Galaxy Teamspeak (http://nogutsnogalaxy.net). http://twitch.tv/watcherrat is the stream location.
The WHY: November 7th is the official Extra Life Game Day, when all of us who support this epic charity get together and stream all at once to raise as much money as we can for children's hospitals! http://extra-life.org has details on how this stream can help.
The WHAT: I will be engaging in 24 hours of mech destruction, complete with sync and group drops, and more importantly, giveaways to those who attend the stream! That means premium time, mech packs, and more just for tuning in and helping out some kids. All you need to do is be there! Can't donate? Short on cash? NO WORRIES! Help us out by sitting in the channel, making sure it gets visible. Retweet the stream or plug it on Facebook...every person who sees the link is one person who might be able to donate towards this amazing charity. Don't play the game yet? It's FREE to play (although quite difficult at first ;) ), feel free to come join us.
The CHARITY: Extra Life is designed to benefit Children's Hospitals. The money we collect goes towards a number of different investments, such as buying new technology and upgrading outdated or worn out equipment. If a family comes to the hospital and is having trouble affording care for their children, Extra Life money goes towards helping them cover their medical bills. The money goes towards research grants, helping to diagnose, treat, and cure afflictions that affect thousands of people every year. The key to all of this is YOU, we need your support to get all of this done.
As an added bonus, if you are in the US, donations to Extra Life are tax deductible as well (sorry, I'm not sure how/if that works across seas - look into your local tax laws)!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHSZ_82wiJg
Direct donations can be made through this link at any time before, during, or after the event: https://www.extra-life.org/index.cf.....ipantID=145351
As we get closer to this event, you might be wondering what kind of prizes we will be offering in the stream, if you play MWO. To update, I have a large supply of premium time codes (24 hour, 7 day, and one 30 day so far), and PGI has graciously put up some prizes from the Resistance 2 pack as well, with two Crab-tier packs that will go up for grabs to those who guess the lucky numbers! We're also looking at adding a couple more mechs/mech packs to the prize list before the 7th as well. Additionally, I'll have some Steam game codes for people who don't play the game, but want to tune in anyway and help out. Donations are accepted, of course, but I will also be purchasing some mechs to give away myself too, so tune in. Just a few weeks to go!
More exciting info for me is that I will be streaming as an extended part of Team Rooster Teeth for this Extra Life event. Specifically, we are fundraising for a Magnetoencephalography, or MEG, machine (it's okay if you can't pronounce it) that costs the hospital around 4.1 million dollars - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magne.....ncephalography . Simply put: this non-invasive brain mapping machine can, within 5mm (because we have to breathe and ruin everything), identify the specific area of the brain that is affected by tumors, causes epilepsy or other neurological conditions in children that make them sick. This machine is the bee's-knees because of how insanely important the information gathered from it is for neurosurgeons when they are performing surgery - especially on children and their developing brains.
Here's another video from the RT gang that shows how important all of this is!

Hiring for some digital commissions
Posted 10 years agoSo...the forums are having issues it seems (I miss everything when this happens), and I can't really make a post there like I usually would. That said, I'm on the lookout for someone who can do some digital commission pieces that will be used on my Twitch.TV account. The items I'm looking for are as follows:
1) A full-screen overlay - landscape style for widescreen monitors, this would show up at the beginning and end of every stream. It would include the Extra Life logo as the central part, but also have some random video game references (controllers, etc), a drawn BattleMech (along the lines of http://img09.deviantart.net/2c4d/i/.....an-d8jmi6t.png in terms of style), and cartoon versions of both my fursona and real life picture, stylized as if they were game characters.
2) A webcam overlay - a simple design to go around my webcam, and a small Extra Life logo that I have during all my lifestreams, just to add some character to the page.
3) A donate button - Just something to replace the drab filler graphic that I use now.
If anyone is interested (or knows someone who would be), let me know and we can discuss price and such. I'm hoping to get them done as soon as possible before I do my next 24 hour charity stream, so hoping I can find someone who's able to get a decent turnaround time. ;)

Looking for pictures!
Posted 10 years agoSo, I'm trying to get hold of any and all pictures of my fursuit taken at RMFC 2015. If anyone has some, or anyone sees any floating around out there that aren't in my gallery, let me know and I'll go in search of them!
RMFC Meme
Posted 10 years agoTransportation type: Driving, I'm a local
Hotel you're staying at: Marriott Tech Center (Con hotel)
Dates: August 6-9, going home Sunday
Rooming with: Neratas (Dragon), Orion (Husky), and maybe Argent (Dino)
Gender: Male
How tall are you: 6'3"
Description (out of suit): Glasses, red hair/beard, I stand out a bit ;)
Fursuit(s): I have a brand new one that will be revealed at RMFC! Look at the pics of my ref sheets to get an idea of how it'll look.
Relationship Status: Mated
Who will you be with a majority of the time: Have a pretty good group of friends, I'll be bouncing around a lot.
Are you cliquey: Not really
Main purpose for attending: Fun, hanging with friends, fursuiting
Parties: We'll see. None in my room, it's a decompress room.
Daily activities: Dealer's Den on first day for sure (and probably will appear there periodically). Couple panels I want to do (always do Buck Hopper's voice acting panel)
Nightly Activities: Hanging with friends, likely drinking and getting myself into trouble ;)
What time I usually go to bed and get up: I normally work nights, but my plan is to be waking up around 9-10am most days, depending on when I get to sleep.
Do you talk out of suit: I will be more shy out of suit until I get to know someone.
Do you talk in suit: I...don't actually know yet. I might talk a little, especially to other people in suit, but I don't know how vocal I'll be. I'll figure that out at the con.
Rules of engagement out of suit: Say hi first, and go from there.
Rules of engagements in suit: Suit is brand new, so please don't jump on me when I have it on for a surprise hug or anything. Until it gets broken in and loosens up a bit, I don't want to risk damaging it while I get used to it.
Can I talk to you: Yeah, just be prepared for me to be a bit shy at first if I don't know you.
Can I tag along with you: If we get along, sure. See above regarding shyness.
Can I give you hugs or snuggles? As mentioned above, just be gentle if I'm in suit. It's brand new, and I'm not quite used to wearing it yet, so I have to be careful with it right now.
Can I dance with you: I will for sure be at the dance when three DJs are playing (Mickey Paws and Lakota on Friday night, and Mykonos on Saturday night). I don't know how to dance, and can't do it at all out of suit...but in suit, my inhibitions are lower.
Can I take pictures with you: YES! And if you take pictures of me in suit, I WANT THEM. Ask for my Twitter, and you can link them to me there :3
Can I buy you a drink: Yes, or you can give me the money instead. Either/or.
Can I buy you things: Free swag fits my budget perfectly!
Best communication medium to reach you: Twitter or Skype, or text if you know me well enough to have my phone number.

Animated icon artists?
Posted 10 years agoSO! I'm looking for someone who does small, animated GIF icons, preferably with a solid background that I can make opaque. Why? Because I do a weekly stream on Twitch.tv a few times a week (shameless plug, http://twitch.tv/watcherrat ) and as part of that, I use TwitchAlerts to tell me when people follow/host/donate to my stream. Right now I use some generic gifs that I found to go with the messages, but I think it would be cool if I had a trio of moving icons for my 'sona to go with those messages.
So, if anyone knows someone who has commissions open for animated icons and such, please let me know so I can try to send them some business :D

May stuffs
Posted 10 years agoI figured it was time to do a journal again, since my last one was from October. o.O Some fun things coming up...
First off, for anyone heading out to Reno, I'll be at BLFC this year with a couple good friends. It's my first time hitting that con, and I'm super excited. Only other con I'll be at this year (unless something changes) is RMFC, so hopefully I'll see some folks there.
Other big news is that, hopefully, sometime in the next month or two I'll finally have the fursuit that's based around the two ref sheets that I have :D I commissioned it too late for BLFC, but it will definitely make an appearance at RMFC. If I'm lucky, it may also be at the next Foxtrot in June, depending of course on how things go...not sure where I am in the queue, just know it's coming soon. Super excited.
The suit is being made by the awesomely talented
grinningtiger (head base) and
huskypaws (the suit and fur part of the head themselves). They are both people you should throw money at out of habit. You can also pay them for commissions on top of just giving them money to take your money ;) Anyway...expect one of those BLFC memes later (because why not?).
Finally, coming up on either May 10th or 11th (haven't decided yet), I will be doing a Twitch stream that will be either a 12 or 24 hour stream to benefit the Extra Life charity. Hopefully people will tune in and donate to a good cause (all donations benefit Children's Hospitals). Full stream details will be out a week or so before it happens.

RMFC Meme
Posted 12 years agoEveryone else was doing it!
Where are you staying?
The Doubletree
What day are you getting there?
Thursday. If I get stuck working that night, I'll be gone until Friday morning though.
Who will you be with?
Andy
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Andy, North, J, Zin, Fritz, Taj, Zach (Maybe), Morely, and tons more I'm sure
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Who knows, I sleep during the day
Will you be suiting?
Don't have a suit, so that more or less rules it out I think.
How old are you?
30
How tall are you?
6'3"
Can I talk to you?
Yes, but only if you refer to me as "Captain"
Can I touch you?
Depends on how well I know you...surprise gropes from strangers are met with hostility. Hugs are fine usually, if I know you.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
See above
How can I find you?
Look for the guy awkwardly sitting off to the side and drinking, or the guy making off-color jokes after drinking.
Can I visit your room?
If invited, sure. Don't think we'll be holding large gatherings in our room.
Can I buy you drinks?
Sure, or you can just give me the money instead! :D
Can I give you stuff?
Yes, unless it's VD, or the stabby end of a knife.
Are you nice?
That depends entirely on your perspective. :D
How long are you going?
Probably leaving Monday sometime
Do you have an artist table?
Not yet
Do you have prints/CDs?
Nope
Will you have art in the Art Show? General or Adult sections?
Not this time
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Two options. Option 1, pour ketchup on your face, and run around the lobby screaming "My eyes, my eyes, my hamster has gone mad!" until I arrive. Option 2, yell out "Hey asshole!" in crowded areas until I respond.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
Most likely I'll be asleep. I work nights, so I'll miss a lot of midday activities.
What/where will you be eating?
Wherever sounds good. I'll be making some trips downtown for food I don't get to have often any more though.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Sure, if I like you ;)
Can I take a picture of you?
Sure, if you can make it look good...I don't think I'm photogenic...
When you go to RMFC, what do you like to buy?
Some Art/Badges of my guy would be nice. Getting a badge from Idess this time, and from the preview sketch, I already love it :)

Take My Money!
Posted 12 years agoAnyone wanna do a badge commission hopefully before RMFC for some extra cash? Lemme know.
Do you like awesome things!? Look here then.
Posted 12 years agoMy good friend
now has his website live: http://www.captiveleather.com/
I've ordered some awesome items from him already...in fact, some of the leather items pictured there are ones that he made on commission, and the work is just top. I watched as he hand-built the furniture items he shows, and the amount of care and detail he puts into each piece shows through, as far as how good the quality is each time. The prices are fair, and you really get what you pay for, which is high-quality gear that's fun to use.
Anyway, thought I'd give him some free advertising. Now go buy his stuff. DO IT!

Artist suggestions?
Posted 12 years agoSo, I'm on the lookout for an artist who could help me get a tattoo commission drawn out. I started off with a friend of mine (who I still think would make a badass version, but he doesn't think he can do it ;) ), but he's less comfortable with drawing realistic animals, as opposed to anthro animals. Anyone out there know someone who's good at drawing both real-looking animals (rats, naturally), and detailed background scenery (in this case, muscles and machinery)?
I'd appreciate the leads, trying to get the design done so I can get it on/around my birthday this year.

Posted 12 years agoFound out someone I've known online for a few years has been doing a web comic for a long time now and I never heard about it. It's fun as all hell to read. So you should read it.

Neurosis Rat Strikes Back
Posted 12 years agoI've just drawn, and erased, a face on a ref sheet about 50 times. I've also deleted and redrawn parts of the body about 25 times and I still don't like it, but the face is the worst part. Every one I draw is either too pointy in the snout, or too cat or doglike. It's only going to get worse when I try to color the damn thing too.
Every time this happens, there is a very real part of me that just wants to hire someone to draw this shit for me. I have the same issue with a series of comics that I have floating around in my head (which, when I describe them, people seem to laugh about quite a bit), but I just can't seem to draw the idea worth a damn for some reason. Maybe some day I'll cave and either hire someone to draw them, or just give up and submit stick figure drawings and go die of shame in a corner somewhere ;)
Anyway, random rant over, I give up for tonight ;)

What a sad day...
Posted 13 years ago...when we learn that thousands of New York rats drowned during the hurricane. The rat population will not forget this slight from nature, at least until tomorrow when the next 3 generations are born...
Wharrgarbl...
Posted 13 years agoWhy is it that my hands must refuse to cooperate when I have several good ideas for comic-style subs? Damn you, insomnia-provided inspirations, for being hard to draw!
