Printer busted
Posted 2 years agoWelp we are 1000+ hours into printing life sized Cerberus, and the Kobra MAx has decided to plague me with random NTC hotbed errors. Lost a kilo of filament and will have to start this section over. Here's hoping customer supper can get her fixed and running again. I've had a hotend error int he past and Anycubic was fast to replace it under warranty. This problem is either the hotbed or the motherboard. I'm not keep on trying to replace motherboard. here's hoping its hotbed and we can carry on.
3d Printing of Maws and Monsters!

I know I've been away for EONS. Real life, ya know? Career is taking off. Moved from California to Texas. Bought a house... (so now I'm poor again)
I'M BAAACK
But in a new way. My new hobby is 3D printing. I LOVE messing with models of my favorite creatures and monsters from movies games etc, and trying to make them REAL with my oversized 3D printer. Its still a hobby printer, and by no means professional, but OMG I LOVE MAKING MONSTERS. Especially monsters with maws. Lets be real, Vore is my fav. I love all things scalie, and all things furry. You also note the trend that I like SFW.
So I want to start sharing the prints I've made and am working on. I will put some here on FA, but I'm going to have a free patreon to journal all my print creations and working projects in Blender/Cura/Meshmixer/etc. Pretty much all the content will be free. There will be options for subscriptions if your heart desires. Some of the BIG prints I want to do will take 2kg of PLA filament and 7 DAYS TO PRINT :(.
Most of the content will be monsters, dinos, dragons, and scalies... especially those with maws and paws lmao.
I'll post a few images int he gallery soon of the early stuff I have going.
As of this moment, the Patreon isn't live but You can get a notice when it goes live by signing up at Massively MAWnstrous! I have a BIG dragonmaw going on the printer. She has another 30 hours and another roll of PLA plastic before she'll be close to done.

As the title says, I'm planning on hosting a dnd 5e game on roll20. All are welcome!! Saturday Afternoons, CST.

The downside is that I am asking for $10 donation for a seat at a session. I've recently moved for work, and the cost of living is outrageous, and I basically need a 2nd job to afford to live. I work all day outside on my feet and am too tired to have a crappy retail or food service secondary job. I burn out. So I'm putting my 15+years D&D DMing experience to work.
Details are in the r20 listing above, but it will be a fun time! Plus you'll help me put food on the table qq
and if you are feeling generous feel free to boost this journal.
P.S. This game will be SFW, but have the potential for mature themes.

(session 0 is free of course) I am generally available Friday and Saturday weekly before 7pm CST. (after 7, I have 2 other games that I run or play in... but I'll drop my saturday evening game for you for the right price lol)

Sorry to have been away... forever

Reason I've been gone a so long? well I finally decided to chase my dream. When I was a kid, my family took me to SeaWorld which, like so many others, inspired me to want to be a trainer. I've been kinda chasing that dream indirectly. studying oceanography. teaching science in schools. But I was getting depressed. felt stuck in a rut. just trying to get by...
So last January I said enough was enough. Let's just go all in. Let's do it. Moved to Florida to pursue a career in the field I truly desired: animal training/zookeeping. Got a job in an education department at a very famous zoo/aquarium. After 6 months, I got a gig training animals and performing in shows. But not for a big, fancy zoo/aquarium. My dream is to work with cetaceans (whales/dolphins) obviously. Kept applying to real training positions at big zoos/aquariums all over the country. Finally got a couple interviews. Didn't work out. But just recently, I got another invite for an interview. Swim test. And I got it. I frikkin got it. I'm now a goddamned dolphin trainer. I never thought it could happen.
Just goes to show that persistence and dedication, you can make you dreams come true!
So that's why I've been gone for over a year. That, and when that big FA hack went through, I was miffed with FA.
Neoz isn't doing commishes at the moment, so you're not likely to see any awesome artwork I had been commissioning from her. Maybe I'll get back into art once I settle into my new [dream] job and move.
Yup. I'm a baddass wingling dragon who gets to get to command an army of dolphins! I had land and air dominated... now I CONTROL THE SEA!!!!

[BTW, if you are one of those anti-SeaWorld people who actually believes BlackFish, I'm saddened for you. Please do some research and discover the amazing work they do. Peta and HSUS don't help animals. You'll never see them campaigning to save the Vaquita. IMATA did. You'll never see them make a documentary on cyanide fishing on the great barrier reef. They don't care about animals. They only care about destroying zoos and aquariums that actually make people care about nature. Zoos that take better care of their animals than 99% of pet owners do. You are entitled to your opinion. But try to form your opinion on some primary literature, and not "because the internet says so".]

Knowing sakurai's past selections, I doubt the poll was a popularity contest, I bet it was just to get ideas. If he can put in wiifit fit trainer and duck hunt dog and rob, anything is possible and doesn't require popularity.

Posted 10 years agoShame on me for not researching a user before trying to commission him/her. But I'm pretty sure I'm getting burned on the deal.
I saw a "commish open" submission on the FA homepage. You know how FA puts the most recent site submission on the front page whenever you refresh the page. So I thought I'd take a look. Seemed like a good deal; 2 artworks for $25 each. Seemed decent quality art too.
I noted the user, :xxxxx: Communicated back a forth for a little bit with my ideas. A little red flag popped on in the back of my head when he suggested I pay asap to reserve a spot. So.... (dumbass me) I did. BUT at least I was smart enough to say half now, half when both are done.
I sent the paypal payment of $25... STUPID me for not hitting 'goods and services'. Paypal was taking a hefty fee, and I didn't want to screw the artist out of 3 dollars, so I said 'friends and family'. No buyer protection with that option. Stupid, dumbass me for trying to help a guy out.
I get a message really quick that the payment was accepted. Then no more notes, and the userpage was (and still is) disabled.
Seeing the disabled page sent the alarm bells ringing. Reluctantly, I did a search of the name. Turns out :xxxxxx: did a commission scam back in January by reposting another artists work. ...F*%# ME! I shout to the computer as I do a /headesk a few times.
Lesson learned. Never commission anyone without a long history and a strong community report... and never pay full upfront. Xx

IF by some miracle, S. R., you are reading this and are legit, unlock you page and show me a WIP. Otherwise, this rant will stand and I'll spread the word of your scam. I pray it isn't. But after that google search, I've lost hope that I'll ever see that art.
God I hate it when my faith-that-people-aren't-asshats idealism gets taken advantage of.
So I'm out 25 bucks, but a whooole lot more in pride. Plus, you know, shattering any trust I had in our community here.

Addendum: since I posted this journal, I've received many notes and comments expressing sympathies an generous offerings of you all to sketch out my new character. I want you all to know that your gestures are truly appreciated and have gone a long way to resorting my faith in humanity- erm, furdom lol. I will do my best to pay your kindness forward. Thank you all so much for your support :heart:
