Vintage Animal Portraits
General | Posted 16 years agoUrban Outfitters had a few of these in oval wood frames for $38. You can buy prints on this site for 10 bucks. There's so many options, too! I want to put them in antique frames all over my house!

Just listen to the lyrics. I don't think you could find a prettier song with a more apt title that has such touching, relevant lyrics.

A Summer Album for YOU
General | Posted 16 years agoReclining in the passenger seat of an old sedan you travel for hours through sun-drenched countryside. Warm winds blow through the open windows, rippling your clothes and tossing your hair. It doesn't faze you. Conversations are over, you're alone in your pocket of the car dreamily watching the endless landscape pass by.
This moment is what I've attempted to capture aurally. That, along with the smell of fresh cut grass on a summer breeze wafting in your bedroom window.
Or, perhaps, riding your bike at dusk through a quiet neighborhood. The air is thick with the aroma of backyard barbecues; smoke lazily rising into the lush, green canopy. Lingering rays of sunlight cascade through gaps in the treetops.
*sigh*
Here it is: A Summer Album. A deftly crafted compilation of songs that evoke the sensation of these moments and memories. Best listened to on long, quiet road trips or lazy Sunday afternoons.

Best of South by Southwest 2009!
General | Posted 16 years agoNow that the biggest music festival of all time is over and literally over a million bands played, how on earth are we supposed to know what the "good ones" are before everyone else does??
Well, ladies and gentlemen...thanks to the pandering of record labels trying to get their music into movies and advertising, I have fallen into ownership of a 2-Disc SXSW '09 Sampler.
I'm only sharing this under the stipulation you post your thoughts on at least a few tracks that stood out to you :) Rock on!

Who should play Spike Spiegel?
General | Posted 17 years agoWith Keanu slated to fill his shoes in the live-action adaption of Cowboy Bebop, every fan can't help but quiver in disgust. Sure he brings the nonchalant, passive attitude but any shred of depth or character is totally shot.
Let me present to you the most un-fucking-believably perfect actor for the roll.
James Franco, baby.
http://img.listal.com/image/278792/.....mes-franco.jpg
Look at that. Look at that! The big hair, the narrow, sly eyes, the angular but attractive face, the expression alone just BLEEDS Spike Spiegel.
Some more examples:

Ohhh, man. I'm riding off the euphoria from completing a massive clean up. Everything's fresh and new and where it's supposed to be. Long golden rays from a slow sunset are filling the room and gentle wafts of fresh air are blowing through open windows. The combination of this music and this moment is just too perfect not to share.
*sighhh*
I really hope you've had a similar experience...

General | Posted 17 years agoYes! It is a New Year and with it comes my resolution to be friendlier and get back in to that most wretched of affairs - INSTANT MESSAGING!
I use Pidgin which seems to be awesome, I don't know, I just started but I like how it combines every fathomable chat client into one. But because of that, I have a ridiculous amount of usernames. Here they are in their absurdity:
AIM: weazal001
ICQ: 299136013
MSN: slyweazal[at]hotmail.com
Yahoo: weazal001
I can also do Google, MySpace and Facebook chat.
Feel free to add me and talk it up! But, please, for the love of god link your FA account in the invite otherwise I'll be like, spam! DENY!
One more small thing, I work 6pm-2am PST and they remotely monitor our stuff, so no scandalous furry talk during those hours please! Acronyms, however, are ok! "At FC I'm going to y you so hard your d breaks" Yeah. That's ok.

Web Design Job Offer
General | Posted 17 years agoDo you know how to design webpages?
Are you tired of doing boring company or database sites?
One of my co-workers heads a band and is looking for someone who can design the band's website. The group's name is Lojic and they're fairly easy, reggae-influenced rock. They have been playing quite a few gigs around Hollywood and LA, so they do have a strong potential of growing fast. http://www.planetlojic.com/
It is, of course, paid and I thought it might be a fun opportunity to do something creative.
Let me know if you're interested!

General | Posted 17 years agoIt'll be my second time and is the only significant furry event I ever make it to. So, if you care enough about me to read this, then I care enough about you to meet you in person, say hi, and buy ya a drink!
Right now I'm planning on flying in Sat morning and just walking over.
I will be crashing Sat night at my good friend's Grey's place.
Then back again all day Sunday.
I want to stay late enough for Kamui's painting tutorial but that means I'd have to catch a flight Monday morn...which is cool, but not having and place to sleep I'm wondering how feasible it is to either keep entertained with con stuff and fun folks all night, or just sleep for a few hours in a lobby chair or something. Do they even allow that or would I be kicked out?

For the last 3 years I've prepared full Thanksgiving meals for all my friends who can't make home for the holiday. This year, I wanna try something different. I want each traditional dish - but prepared...differently. A unique interpretation of each one.
For example: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dhpk46hr_55f76gsgg8
So I need creative (or just good) recipes inspired by the following classic dishes:
# Turkey
# Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
# Stuffing
# Yams
# Cranberry Sauce
# Green Bean Casserole
# Crescent Rolls
# Pumpkin/Pecan Pie
# Hot, Seasonal Alcoholic Beverage
Thank you!

The Spiciest Chai
General | Posted 17 years agoOk, as much as I desperately try to keep these journals on-topic as possible, I gotta deviate this once to share the exciting conclusion of an epic search I've been on for a year now.
Visiting the fam in Colorado, we checked out a Tajikistani tea house in Boulder; http://www.boulderteahouse.com/
Trying their house chai I was surprised to find it stingingly spicy! But that made it exciting, warming, and a possible signifier of the euphoria I felt afterwards from the soothing spices (ginger, etc). I'll tell you the ride home was unforgettable for how good it made me feel - mind gently buzzing from the caffeine and body warmed, slightly euphoric.
It resulted in me scouring LA trying to find a similar Chai, with no avail. Until I found the actual original recipe online! http://web.dailycamera.com/food/rec.....s/01frecq.html
I just finished making a batch and this is IT! Exactly as I remember it :D I'd love it if someone could make a go of it also and share their thoughts because it is a fairly unique experience...
One tip on the recipe, if you can't use whole-leaf tea (tsk tsk), then the portion is equivalent to 12 tea bags.

First Avatar Change in YEARS
General | Posted 17 years agoSeriously, I think that's how long it's been.
My curmudgeonly ways of not playing along with every passing meme may be ending!
Well, probably less that and more so a nice artist drew me an icon which totally embodies my char more than the ones I stole from random artists.
This was an icon from Formidonis's astounding free icon day, in which he completed - get this - 153 unique color icons in a single day! I didn't even know he had that many friends! Hah! But no, that was wrong to say. I don't even know the guy...
But still, check out the collage: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1384745/

Mystery Science Theater 3000 LIVE!

I'm ready to buy tickets NOW but there's 2 show times and I don't have anyone to go with yet. If anyone wants to join (I'm driving!) let me know what time would be best. First showing? When they're fresh but maybe unpolished? Or second even though they've JUST done it and may be a little tired, but would probably be quicker with the jokes?
