General | Posted 17 years agome and a teammate just won an animation contest at my university
the challenge was simple: make a simple animation not using stuff like Maya and motion tweens - The idea being that in the semester we're to learn animation, so starting out by having to do a simple one made sense...
I made this:

(the other guy in my team only contributed with the spooky-music used in the beginig during the "anyone there" bit)
here's why we won:
- it was funny (not just random stuff - although we did use interweb humor)
- it has a proper story (most others were just random stuff)
- it had a "the end" (with ROCK MUSIC!)
- it used the music in the animation to enhance the feel of the visual animation
- i apparently have a reputation for making whacky stuff? (see my youtube videos...)
- it was the last animation shown in the contest (bored ppl going "yay" for it being over)
- the party hard music in the The End bit riled people up for bigger applause (we were judged on applause)
nobody had expected us to win

Ode to those who cant handle the internets
General | Posted 17 years agoA good while ago the quite talented furry artist "noben" AKA "Cazey" @ http://noben.deviantart.com/ decided to up and leave the internet...
why?
well, for years she'd been an acclaimed and revered anthro artist of the scaly/reptilian sort, with a horde of fans and a fairly active community around her.
then suddenly she decides that she wants to reinvent herself as a furry Kapibara... which results in her avatar of choice being officially changed into something that looks... like a fuzzy droopy honestly - quite a change from the smooth lizard-like features her fandom was used to seeing. But hey, without new stuff the old stuff would grow stale - and artists have to reinvent themselves every now and then, right?
well I personally agree to that - however - I did not appreciate the change... her choice of avatar was, IMO, simply ugly. Now, bear in mind that first of all this is the internet, so its obviously SERIOUS BUSINESS! (and if you can't see the sarcasm in that, then go away)
Cazey obviously couldn't take the critism - and that coupled with a few other uploads of her where i pointed out that some of her prior work actually looked better (including a really blurry photo of herself) then she BAWWW'd, deleted most of her online gallery, and got TFO...
seriously...
she wasn't a drama queen - quite the contrary - she was/is living proof that some people just cant handle that others might not agree with them. hell, i regularly get 'yelled' at online for my choice of words/image macros/whatever... I'm down with /b/, it comes with the turf - but do know this:
To those for which internet is serious business, then they have lost the game - hard! If you cant handle that someone online might disagree with you, then you shouldn't take it to a public forum such as the online communities! (that goes for you too Jay Naylor!)

This is the first of two videos featuring a demonstration of something i've made for my university project.

Its two gloves with some simple electronics on them + shitloads of ductape, and then some nice software, that allows me to get my groove on. I made the gloves and the electronics, I made the software it runs on, only thing i didn't make was the sound setups used for the diferent sounds modes, although i did make the piano mode.
next up: sword combat!
A while ago i started this combat class to learn sword fighting and other things. Italian 14th century sword fighting, german dagger combat, some spear stuff too. Really cool
