So now that I have my laptop back, and I have pretty much no excuse to not use it and my tablet to its fullest ability, I want to know!

How is it you guys keep at drawing? My instinct is to make myself sit in front of this thing with my tablet for an hour every day to see what happens, but maybe you guys have better advice for me.

Well not exactly here here but one of my friends has graciously allowed me to use his laptop to connect to this oh-so-NSFW site while my laptop is slowly but surely making its way through the odyssey that is stupid computer repair.

First of all, let me just say....damn you guys have been busy!

Seriously, the only way I get to see what's going on is through my cell phone, and even then I only see smidgens of info. Tidbits, even.

So once I get my computer back (hopefully by the end of this damn month) I can start doing all that stuff I wasn't really doing much of before my laptop broke....?

OK, so I'm waiting for things to get better. But in the meantime do drop me a line on MSN or AIM because things get lonely out there in RL land.








Oh yes, and I'm sorta coming to terms with my own panda-ness. So there.

Facts:

- Laptop starts 50% of the time, more if from a "cold" state (meaning hasn't been used in a while)
- Works fine enough for a few minutes then the hard disk light stays on for a long time.
- If I use the DVD-R drive for more than a few minutes the computer will just stop recognizing it and the disc in it, even on subsequent boots.
- If the HD light stays on for a while the laptop gets hot.
- Eventually when i shut the laptop down it'll end up hanging in the middle of the process, not shutting down all the way o_O
- When it doesn't shut down all the way and I turn it off, most times the next time I boot it will hang at the "Gateway" startup screen.
- If it hangs at that screen and I press F2 to go to the BIOS menu it makes an angry BEEP at me and doesn't respond further.
- These symptoms disappear if i let the laptop stay off for a few hours.

Question: What is wrong with my laptop?

- my laptop is quasi-broken, meaning it will start up only half the time and i'm afraid to right-click on anything. makes beeps when it's temperamental.

- job goin ok, but i smell like fish and paperwork at the end of the day

- i could graduate any time buuuuut i have some....unfinished business to do with my professional writing certificate first

- also might just dorm.

Well, we were the last ones to get to 2009, yay for strategic International Date Line placement (shakes fist at Australia for getting it first)

I spent a lot of last night at work (I work for a call center) answering dumb questions. I got to walk home and see lots of street fireworks on the way, though.

Anyways, it's a new year and I wanted to start it off right. So last night while most everyone else in the house was getting drunk (more drunk than I wanted to get anyway) I managed to draw something. Go check it out, why don'tcha.

I have a big problem.

With my art.

I noticed it a while back and it bugs the hell out of me.

OK, OK. The thing is....my poses are very...um....static.

As in not moving. Standing there looking pretty. For some reason I have a hard time drawing any sort of motion or action. Furthermore most of the time I end up with poses that fall into the "3/4 angle with beefy arm and a pouty look" pattern, which is fine, I guess. It makes for good showcasing of muscles and everything but I need to be able to do more with my selected subject matter (MUSCLECHUB BIG DUDES in case you didn't get the memo) than just....well...that!

It drives me up the wall when I try constructing a neat pose and I poke at it with a pencil for 3 hours only to realize IT'S THE SAME DAMN POSE I DID LAST TIME AND THE 100MILLION TIMES BEFORE IT FREAKING GODDAMN!!!!!

(deep breaths)

So. I turn to you guys. How can i improve my figure posing? Or, what poses do you recommend I try drawing? I really need to diversify here.

1) For those of you who don't know, I'm working 2 jobs now! Starbucks (cause they provide health insurance) and a kitchen job at a plate lunch place because i'm getting real kitchen experience I can use to get into culinary school!

2) Did I mention I decided to get into culinary school? At the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) ? Cause I am. I decided, "you know...I seem to research and talk about a lot of stuff related to food. Why don't I just make it a career? That way I don't seem creepy when I ask people about it XD"

3) I'm taking some steps to get more physically fit! I signed up for 24hr fitness (yay!) and will be posting some stuff related to working out soon, AND I'm gonna be participating in the Life Foundation AIDS walk tomorrow with my Starbucks buddies. It's a 5K walk (approximately 3 miles) so it shouldn't be so bad. I'm looking forward to it ^^ If i can do it, YOU GUYS CAN!! I'm 275 freaking pounds, and I want to hit 300 someday...just not by adding 25 pounds of extra fat. Muscle would do the trick XD

4) I'm constantly developing recipes and ideas for my cooking but for now i'm keeping them written down in my notes for safe keeping until I need them XD I am going to start cooking for other people as well (buy the ingredients and I'll make you a dinner!) 5) I've been drawing, just not scanning. When i feel gooood and ready, I'm gonna post a bunch of stuff all at once. Watch for it!

6) I have another project I'm working on but it's a secret. XD

7) I was thinking maybe i should start taking commissions, but just for cheap pencil sketches. My stuff's not super awesome or anything XD Feedback/requests are welcomed and encouraged.
