Posted 16 years agoI don't know how many people have stumbled across this site, but I just found it personally. It's loaded with photos of various animal species with wide open mouths.

FREE art! 80 sketch challenge (donations optional)
Posted 16 years agoWhy 80 sketches? Because I am starting a brand new sketchbook that has 80 fresh white pages. I intend to fill every page with colour rough sketches, requested by you. These sketches are free, but donations are highly encouraged (see below.)
Please read all of the terms before you make a request.
What you get:
-9"x12" colour rough sketch scans (or greyscale, if desired)
-1 or 2 characters per page
-simple backrounds or objects
-mature and adult material available if you're 18+
-variety of subject matter, including fat, muscles, macro, micro, inflation, vore, and others
-male, female, or transgender
-sorry, no hermaphrodites or trademarked concepts (Pokemon, Disney, Warner Bros., Marvel, etc.)
-series may be requested, if you order multiple slots

Slot orders and priority:
Now taking reservations for all 80 pages. Each person may request 1 or 2 of each group of 10 available slots, and no more than 6 drawings out of the 80 in this sketchbook. Lowest slots get priority, but they will not necessarily be finished in order.
Please post your interest in a reservation here in this journal, and I will assign orders as they come in. Please do not send your descriptions by private note, until after I send you a message saying that I'm ready for it.
What I will need:
-detailed descriptions for all characters, including clothing descriptions, fur/scale/hair/eye colour, expression, etc.
-any photo or drawings you have to share of the characters
-detailed description of the setting and scene
donations:
These sketches are free. However, donations, gifts, or art trades would be greatly appreciated. At least a few dollars per page (PayPal- badaxe2050@gmail.com) or gifts of drawing materials would be nice. My drawing tools do cost a considerable amount of money, and I will be spending a bunch of time making these 80 drawings. Please donate what you believe the sketches to be worth.
shipping:
These original sketches will not be shipped, unless you make a minimum donation of $10 per page (or equivalent in gifts.) I will also ship a page if you make an art trade, and ship the trade piece to me in exchange.
If you meet me at a convention, ask for the sketch and I should have it with me.
additional fine print:
I reserve the right to refuse any request, for any reason. I also may revise the terms at any time; check back in this journal for updates. This project may be cancelled later due to time restraints, though I will make my best attempt to fulfill all of these requests.
[EDIT] 27 Oct. 2009: Opened up all 80 slots for reservations. Added some information in the "Slot Orders and Priority" section.
P.S. I'm still taking the usual commissions, for finished artwork. Badges start at $6 and finished character portraits start at $30.

One FREE drawing- conclusion and winner! (round two)
Posted 16 years agoI've picked the top winner for the free request: I'll draw a finished colour drawing for
syriko, including one of his ferret characters. I need to learn how to draw these critters sometime.
BONUS- There were many interesting and unusual species included in this round of applications. I've decided to offer two additional prizes:
long_1989 will receive a rough colour sketch of his Galapagos turtle, and
Ryuuie will get a rough colour sketch of his bat idea.
Rough colour sketches are similar to these in quality:
http://www.wendell.furtopia.org/200.....06cobalt01.jpg
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2836465/
I will contact the winners shortly by private mail to get all the details for their character ideas.
Thank you all for getting involved in the project. I will be offering more free (and cheap) chances for sketches when these are through, and I do hope to give everybody a try.

One FREE drawing and one commission available. (round two)
Posted 16 years ago(This was so fun the last time that I decided to start another round. Copy/paste from previous journal, because the details are similar.)
There's one slot open for a free character request, 8"x10" in colour. The only catch is it must be for a real-world species I have never drawn before. (No combos/hybrids or fan-art for this one.) Submit as many times as you like, and by Tuesday morning (about 72 hours from now) I'll pick the critter I find most interesting from the eligible submissions. Detailed descriptions would help your chances, because I can get a better feel for the character that way.
I won't be picking favourites based on how well I know you... I'm looking for something new and different for me to draw. It's sketching practice.
Please respond only to this post, so I can keep the threads together.
[EDIT] [EDIT] I've picked the winner for this round. Details are in my next journal:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/968914/
I have enough time for one commission this week... open for anyone, any species. (See my commission information for more details.)
Full colour 3"x5" badge for $15 (slightly more for shipping out of the USA.)
Samples:

Siyahamba's birthday - April 6 (Monday!)
Posted 16 years agoMy beautiful mate and love
siyahamba will be celebrating a birthday tomorrow, April 6. Any cards, notes, gifts and praise should be sent directly to him. Anything involving cake, cookies, frosting, cream, or other edibles too... I might be tempted to sneak a taste if I handle them. *grin*

Artwork for sale. Free shipping available!
Posted 16 years agohttp://www.wendell.furtopia.org/sale/aindex.htm
(Must be at least 18 years old to view link and order.)
I'm looking to unload some of my old drawings... have to make room on this page for the new stuff. My drawings are piling up pretty quickly.
Prices are negotiable, in most cases. Order this week, and get free shipping to the USA! (I'll discount foreign shipping costs, but can't make it free... some of these originals are heavy.)
Leave me a note here or in private if you're interested in purchasing these or any of my other artwork.

Commission information
Posted 16 years agoSince the commission info page is down, I thought I would post a journal listing some prices and guidelines.
Badges are US$15 for 3"x5", full colour, laminated with clip. This cost includes shipping within the USA... other countries may cost more for shipment.
US$30 for a single character drawing, at sizes up to 11"x14". Simple setting or toned background. Colour pencil, ink pen, crayon, or pencil on white, black or coloured paper. Shipping costs will be calculated at reasonable rates, when I have your address information.
US$40 for two characters, at sizes up to 11"x14". Simple setting or toned background. Add US$7 for each additional character. I suggest larger format paper for the multiple character drawings. Colour pencil, ink pen, crayon, or pencil on white, black or coloured paper. Shipping costs will be calculated at reasonable rates, when I have your address information.
Larger formats, detailed background objects, or other media may raise the price. Some other media I might consider: ink and brush, acrylic paint on canvas or paper, oil pastels on canvas or paper, watercolour on canvas or paper, coloured marker on paper, or 2D computer art in digital format. Sculptures are available in wood or clay.
I may refuse any project, based on content, time constraints, or any other issues that come up, but generally I'm open to a variety of drawing experiences. More detailed information and terms at:
http://www.wendell.furtopia.org/com.....ons/index.html
Art trades-colour avatar for your drawing of Wendell or Sydd
Posted 16 years agoI've got a few scraps of paper sitting around here, and I'm thinking about trying some avatar icons. Is anybody interested in trading art for an avatar?
I'll draw a 4"x4" image for you, probably a bust-style portrait, using colour pencil on bristol board. I'll ship the original to you, and make digital scans in 100x100 pixel, 200x200 pixel, and 400x400 pixel that you can use for avatars and gallery display.
I'd like a drawing of Wendell or Sydd, in any medium and size, that I can post on my web site. I'll provide some references, when you choose which character you'd like to sketch. I'm not necessarily looking for an avatar icon, just an image of one of my arctic foxes. Any skill level qualifies, as long as you make a dedicated attempt; beginners welcome! Shipping to me is optional, if you don't have easy means to do so... the digital files are fine, but I would treasure having the drawing too.
I'll take two of these trades this week, if I find interested artists. I have one request I'm working on now, but I should have some time to work them in.

One FREE drawing- conclusion and winner!
Posted 16 years agoI've picked a winner for the request: Icefyer, for his macaw submission. Thanks to everybody who posted an idea... I do hope to get to everybody soon.
There will be more free requests coming up, after I finish what's currently on my plate. I've got a complicated ink drawing that's about 3/4 done, and the image for Icefyer to make, then I'll be on to commissions and requests again.

One FREE drawing and one commission available.
Posted 16 years agoThere's one slot open for a free character request, 8"x10" in colour. The only catch is it must be for a real-world species I have never drawn before. (No combos/hybrids or fan-art for this one.) Submit as many times as you like, and by Tuesday evening (about 72 hours from now) I'll pick the critter I find most interesting from the eligible submissions. Detailed descriptions would help your chances, because I can get a better feel for the character that way.
I won't be picking favourites based on how well I know you... I'm looking for something new and different for me to draw. It's sketching practice.
Please respond only to this post, so I can keep the threads together.
[EDIT][EDIT] I've picked a winner for this request: Icefyer, for his macaw submission. Thanks to everybody who posted an idea... I do hope to get to everybody soon.
I have enough time for one commission this week... open for anyone, any species. (See my commission information for more details.)
Full colour 3"x5" badge for $15 (slightly more for shipping out of the USA.)

New artwork to come.
Posted 17 years agoMy resolution for this new year has been to spend an hour every day making art. So far, since January 1 I have been sticking to the schedule... well, on a few days it was closer to 30 minutes, but I've spent plenty of 3 hour days to make up for those.
I've also been putting together all the necessary files for a big update on my main gallery site ( http://www.wendell.furtopia.org/ ) which will include my submissions here as well as a bunch of other material.
If I don't drop daily comments on Fur Affinity, or respond promptly to private messages/email, it's because I'm busy at my art table. My apologies.
I'm trying to wrap up a few old unfinished projects, but most of the remaining ones are complicated in scope. I'm looking for new ideas for projects, to work on when I get bored or frustrated with my current pieces. Commissions are available, and I'll consider trades or requests for artwork.

Happy Thanksgiving
Posted 17 years agoHappy Thanksgiving Day again, this time to our buddies in the USA. We had our second turkey meal for the season tonight, hosted by my parents and shared with my sister as well. Just a long day of nibbles and laziness.
I hope you all found many things to be thankful for this year.

Happy Thanksgiving
Posted 17 years agoTo all the Canadian friends here, Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you found a good meal with friends and family tonight.
Siyahamba and I shared a turkey breast, roasted with vegetables. I'm not that great when it comes to cooking roasts, but I think it tasted pretty good. We get another turkey dinner with my family in a month, when the other Thanksgiving comes around. Yum.
I already listed some of the things I'm thankful for in my last message. Again, my gratitude goes out to those who have written to me with well-wishes. Things are better every day.

Feeling thankful.
Posted 17 years agoThings are a bit slow right now. It's quiet in the apartment and I'm not feeling too scrambled at the moment. I've been going through moments when I feel great, then others when I feel tired, dizzy or achy. Minor side effects, I suppose, but they throw my game off some.
I'm doing better every day. I'm doing okay now. The quiet time leaves me thinking about all the good things I've had to get me through.
In late May, I was pressed into an extended hospital stay. I had a rather large tumor removed from my head. I didn't feel worried about the surgery, because the doctors all assured me of their skills and that the operation would go well... having those talks made it somewhat easier overall. The cruddiest part of it all was that they kept me for eight days in total. I was diagnosed on the first night, but didn't get an opening for the operation for six days.
I was out of the hospital/hotel in early June. It felt good to go home. It even felt good to go back to work, only two days later. I was mostly back on my regular routine within the week.
Then there were the many doctor's appointments, then a month and a half of radiation treatments. I was on a pile of steroids, which had some strange effects. The radiation added some more, including general weakness which is affecting me still. I lost my hair on top, but managed to send a big chunk of my pony tail to Locks of Love before getting shaved for my surgery.
I made it through. I'm still making it. I've got lots of help. I've got time to think about that now, and the people I have to thank.
Siyahamba has done so much to help me through. He stayed with me at the hospital, sleeping on uncomfortable furniture just to be with me. He rushed between the hospital, home for supplies, and work almost every day. When I got out, he drove me home... that was a very important moment for me, getting out of that expensive hotel with all the IVs and injections every hour.
He drove me around everywhere, when I was too jumbled to do it myself.
When I was feeling better, he took me to Toronto for a little vacation time. We saw some beautiful sights, did a bunch of walking, saw lions and tigers and cheetahs, and went swimming in a pool every night.
Since then, the radiation has taken some of my strength and drive. Siyahamba has been doing more than his share of cleaning, cooking, laundry... I feel lazy and spoiled. I want to do more, but I feel so run down. My mate has done so much, and doesn't ask for thanks. But I do feel grateful. I love you, my handsome Siyahamba.
My family has helped much, too. Dad's been covering my lost shifts at work, when I don't feel up to making the big commute. Mom's been calling often, trying to find out my results from every doctor visit, and she's been asking me to come over and take all the extra vegetables from her garden... I think she's just anxious to see me as often as she can. My sister Krys made the ninety minute trek from her home to the hospital while I was in, gave me a stack of new books to read, and has piled me with more concern than I expected. Thank you.
I received so many get-well wishes from folks here that I can't keep up with them all. Thank you for your thoughts. Also, specific thanks to MetalFox/Justin, Delako, and my non-furry friend Spygirl for chatting with me while I was sitting in the hospital and afterwards... it feels good to talk with old friends.
I'm thankful that I got through head surgery without losing any of my memories or mental capacity. The rest of me is healing readily... I'll be back on track. Hopefully getting some drawings done in the near future.

I turned this up while I was researching a somewhat unrelated furry project. I thought somebody else might find this cute, but I'm mostly posting it here so I don't misplace the link.

Stuff for sale.
Posted 18 years agoThere is a new section on my web site. I have a bunch of artwork left from the last two conventions, and have listed it for sale at discounted prices. Most of these won't be displayed at any future con, but they will be available online until they sell out.
http://www.wendell.furtopia.org/sale/aindex.htm
Sales page, adult section (includes all general and mature artwork for sale.) You must be at least 18 years old to click this link!
http://www.wendell.furtopia.org/sale/index.html
Sales page, general art only. All ages welcome.
Email me directly if you're interested in purchasing an original or print. Thanks for looking.
Also, for people who are reading all the way through this: I am offering one free art request. This is for a single character digital rough, drawn with Corel Painter or Adobe Photoshop with a tablet. I just picked up new versions of both of these softs, and need to test my hands to get them working again with the tablet.
Only catches are, the request has to be for a species that I have never drawn before, and the theme must be PG-13 rated. Post your ideas here, and I'll take the first request that fits the requirements.

Wendell's Den website update, 7/1/07
Posted 18 years agohttp://www.wendell.furtopia.org/
I've just done a major overhaul to my site. The layout has been neatened up, to ease future updates and to make it a little nicer to navigate, but the overall layout is the same. New images now appear at the top of most pages.
There are new graphics in the 2006 and 2007 sections, some of which have appeared on my Fur Affinity gallery and some that haven't been released anywhere else yet.
Please notify me of any broken links or missing graphics. I think I've caught them all, but I can't be certain.
Enjoy, and expect more regular updates at the Wendell's Den galleries.

Anthrocon 2007 Gallery submissions and other con stuff
Posted 18 years agoSiyahamba and I are attending AC 2007 next week, arriving sometime on Wednesday and planning on staying until Monday morning. We should have some door signs around to point you in the right direction, if you care to speak with us... it's likely that we'll be involved in some fat-fur gatherings as well. Check the bulletin board for our door sign:
[IMG] http://data.furaffinity.net/art/wen.....doorsign01.jpg [/IMG]
I should be open for art trades and requests, if I'm not busy with Gallery stuff and the SIGs we wish to visit... bring along your blank sketchbooks. I'll have mine.
I'm bringing my laminator, punch and clips to make con badges, if anybody's interested and I can find the time to put them together. They'll be around $15 each, but we can possibly negotiate trades for them.
We'll probably eat most of our meals within walking distance of The Westin, where we're staying. We'd probably welcome company if you'd care to join us for food, too.
We're both posting material in the AC Art Galleries. If you'd like to see some of the original drawings I've done (and bid on them, hint-hint) they'll be hanging after Friday morning. Here are some of the things I'm including. (The list isn't complete, as I'm still working on a few pieces.)
