Mainly because I came to the realization long ago that using this old account is, to put it bluntly, pointless. 80% of the old original gallery is gone for one. Also, since sci-fi is one of my most-loved genres, I'm trying my best to practice it more; I feel like I'm in a rut artwise, so I'm trying to make this theme part of my comfort zone instead of my "discomfort zone" (ew.).

I am tentatively deciding to reopen this account, but using it for nothing but fanart and art I do of other people's characters (mainly giftart and requests). I regard my main gallery as a sort of open portfolio, but stuff for my personal characters and professional (commissioned) stuff, not fanart and the like. So this change may or may not occur.

So, if I do decide to once again use this account, only watch if you don't mind seeing fanart (mostly video game stuff, if I'm in the mood) and art requests/gifts I've done for other people, with their characters and not mine. For years, I've been the type to change a lot, and not have a lot of consistencies as far as how I am as a person inside. At least as far as my identity goes. This account name was created as a sort of catch-all term of what I liked at the moment. Its held up for more than a year, but I've always thought it wasn't really me.

Looking back, I've been able to detect several themes and interests that I've had for pretty much all of my life. So I've created  corvusfae to reflect what I really am as a person, and its going to be my account now and for the foreseeable future. So yeah, I'm not going to be updating this account anymore; you're going to have to watch my new one. Sorry for the hassle...

Every day I get something that makes my proverbial fuse shorten. I swear to....gah, I don't know. I'm pissed as hell, and stressed as hell, and it just keeps coming. You know how you push everything down, and over time it gets harder and harder, until finally you have one of those days where its all gone wrong, and you finally go epic RAAAAGE attack to blow off the pressure? Yeah, I haven't reached that day yet, but I'm so damn close...

Retreating into my little happy place for the moment instead. My happy place is an actual place, my little parallel universe that I can overlay on real life at a moment's notice and whenever I want.

To lighten the mood, I ask you guys: what is your happy place? Whether its an actual place you can summon at will, or something to do or someone special, what is it? What is it that makes the cruel world not-so-cruel for you?

Since my scanner is presumably working again, I've determined that I'll start doing my dreamscape character challenge this coming Monday. I find its easier for me to start things in the beginning of the week instead of in the middle of it.

Also, I have plenty ideas for drawings that I want to do on the side, but what sorts of settings/subject matter would you guys like to see more from me? I'll consider most ideas. Keep in mind though, I don't do adult work.

Perhaps it is the late hour, or the ungodly pain in my back, or the wet irregular beat of the dishwasher, or a combination of all three, that's making me think too much.

As all of you know I'm sure, thinking about the future is a doozy, and tends to make one's head reel. I'm no exception, but apparently my paradoxical wakefulness is keeping myself from feeling it. Its not just my future, but past as well. Amazing that this time last year I was.....what was I? I was attending my first semester of college and I was psyched as hell. I was also stressing about a problem I was having with my ex (by the way, I never got closure on it). Also, its been a year now since I joined this site lol. I still can't remember if I was happy or not during that time though....

This year, oh ho this year. Lucky #8 indeed. Only spirit-crushing low I can think of that happened this year was the death of my dog. Heh, details details....

I started writing this journal with a distinct purpose in mind, and now I cannot remember. Other than thinking about the aspects of life (not just mine either) and how very scared I am of the future. Sure, I've got much of it planned, crammed into neat little cubbyholes into my mind for safekeeping until the day comes when I need the information squirreled away within one of said holes. I've got things filed away up until after I get my Bachelors in game art and design.

But...

Then what? Its an abyss; a sudden and sheer precipice. Earlier this year I would probably have broken down and cried at the thought of that, but tonight I have not. Call me optimistic now, or hopeful.....perhaps I am just foolish. Yeah, that works. Foolish. Foolish to dream that I'll actually be successful. Foolish to believe everything will actually turn out, no matter how dark the moment seems. Foolish to hope that I won't have to fear being alone anymore......

I don't know what I'm getting at anymore. I suppose I just wanted to string words together in the hopes that I seem intelligent and thoughtful. Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. Guess you'll have to judge me, just like everyone else....heh.

But yeah, I hear that fools oftentimes are the happiest. Perhaps I should be less like I was, and more like a fool....

If anyone talks to me for any length of time, they know that a big thing that defines my personality is my very vivid imagination. They also end up (sooner or later) learning of a world I and my dreams have created over many years (since I was at the very least in 2nd grade).

This "dreamscape" (I still haven't found a hard and fast name for it yet....) is a sort of run-on story, filled with epic battles, tales of betrayal and tragic love. Its defining characteristics are the world it is set in, and especially the characters and creatures therein.

Now I've been thinking to myself: I've had this world in my head for years, and yet so little of it ever reaches paper, either by writing or drawing. Many of it stays in my head, and many of those characters and races I have never drawn or have not drawn in years.

So. I'm challenging myself to draw these characters, creatures and other elements of this dream-setting to finally bring much-needed light onto this story that has grown and developed with me over the years. So I am compiling a list of my main characters and supporting characters. I'm not going to draw them in any particular order, but I must at least do one character or story element a week. I'll be checking them off as I go. If anyone for some odd reason is dying of curiosity to see a particular individual instead of waiting, feel free to tell me. :P

Two months since I've submitted anything? Well that's not going to fly now is it?

During the FA outage I got some serious art done. All stuff that I'm surprisingly pretty proud of. I'm sure that will change after a month or so, but hey. I noticed I improve with every piece of art I create now, so I'm slowly working up some confidence and daring. I'm going to try new stuff out, like subjects I don't usually do and media that I don't use much. Hopefully even the failed experiments will help me expand my abilities.

Personal news is as follows: I found out I won't be attending my Fall classes due to some serious money problems, so for the interim I will have to get a job, hoping that not only will I be hired, but also stay long enough to save up money for next year's Spring classes. It's going to take a combination of luck and skill on my part.

So yeah guys; finals are over! Very much happy about that since I don't have to worry about school until Fall....I probably would take classes over the summer to expediate things, but they were far too expensive. So I will have to work this summer instead! No rest, not for me!

Personal problems have kept me from being artistically productive. Hopefully things will work out, and I'll be better soon. So I can't really give a timetable for more artstuff like trades and requests that I said I'd do. Oh well; I'll get to it eventually.

Which brings me to my next point: to keep myself from getting stagnant, I turned to writing instead. I've written a short story involving my characters in their own little world, and I was wondering if anyone would like me to post it? It's kinda long (about the length of a chapter in a book, which in essence it is), and it's still in the rough stages, but I still like it. I wouldn't even mind critique, even though I'm not good at taking it sometimes. :P

Also, going camping this weekend. If I get any inspiration on this trip, I'll post it. Or if I'm feeling up to it, I'll post some photos of the scenery instead. :)
