General | Posted 7 years agoNew Version of GIMP
General | Posted 13 years agoOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygoshOhmygosh!
So, apparently GIMP 2.8 was released not long ago, which includes *many* awesome improvements, such as the long-awaited single-window mode as well as so many other awesome goodies.
From both a computing point of view, and an artistic point of view I think this update will be very welcome. I gotta say, 2.6 was a bit clunky.
What are you waiting for?! Go and download it now!

General | Posted 14 years agoDear Princess Celestia,
Today (and over the past few days) I have learned that making comics is one of the most boring and arduous things you can possibly do.
Your faithful student,
Whatsa

String Theory
General | Posted 15 years agoI really love how the way we're testing the claims of String Theory is by hitting stuff together so hard it goes into the other dimensions required for String Theory.
It reminds me of comics where people say "I'm gonna punch you so hard you'll land in next tuesday". It really is hilarious.

Here's a good one
General | Posted 15 years agoHere's a good question:
What is the thing that differentiates pokemon from non-pokemon in the pokemon world?
It's something I've never considered before. Are there animals within the pokemon world? If so why are they not pokemon? Are the humans pokemon?
I am thoroughly confused now.

Most Awesome Army Dude!
General | Posted 16 years agoI just found out that Sergeant Yakov Pavlov was perhaps the most awesome soldier in World War II. He's a pretty cool guy, he kills tanks and doesn't afraid of anything!
He was able to hold off HALF the German Army for several MONTHS with only 25 soldiers! The battle ended after the Russian Army counter attacked and swept the Germans back. Died in 1981, well after the war ended.
How come Hollywood doesn't tell us things like this?!

General | Posted 16 years agoI just remembered that Brock (from pokemon) said he wanted to be a pokemon breeder.
.....
Gosh darn it, I do to!
I wonder what breeding entails. That would be one hell of a job.
TIME TO FANTASISE!

One day
General | Posted 16 years agoOne day I think that all people will be part of a single consiousness. Imagine if all minds have unlimited access to all other minds. It could be said that they are all part of one big thing at that stage.
Personally I think that is what heaven would be like. No one would ever hate anyone, because they have context for the other person's thoughts.
I think I heard of a theory by some philosopher about people being merely splinters of the universe, isolated from what his idea of 'god' was.
Anyway, if the internet is left to develop, and grow, unhindered, I think it will become humanity's biggest asset.
Yeah, i'm sure I've bored you to tears by now.
Signing off now.

Determinism
General | Posted 16 years agoOne thing I always found confusing was the theory of determinism.
The implications that we have no control over our actions, and that everything is just a simple result of chemical reactions, brain states, and mathematics is astounding.
I'm amazed that such complex things can arise from such a theory, but there it is.
NOW ON TO SERIOUS MATTERS!
I LIKE CAKE!
that is all...
