Goals for 2021

My poor account here has been so quiet. :x
I haven't posted on this account, art or journals, in a long time. Most of my time this year was spent doing commissions for visual novels, and commissions for my now-disabled extra-NSFW account. I guess that was a fun experiment, but, after a while, it just felt like extra work on top of my day-job, and it was keeping me from doing art & stories I wanted to pursue professionally. As tempted as I was to try and become a full-time furry niche porn artist and quit my job, my heart's just not into the craft and I'd prefer not to force it any longer. :\
Recently I've been making some huge life changes to help fix my bad habits. For too long I've held myself back from a potentially better life, and I finally want to make a determined effort to get myself out of this rut.
1. I quit video games cold turkey (hehe). I love the video game industry still, but I have problems with video game addiction that I've struggled with FOREVER. As much as I'll miss out on games I still haven't beaten, and ones I still want to play, it's for the best. It has been over a month since I stopped and it hasn't been bad! I think it helps that my newest job keeps me busy unlike my last one, as well as my next life-change ...
2. I'm working on a video game! It's with RPG Maker VX Ace. I've owned the engine for a billion years but never did anything with it. In the summer I had some problems with carpal tunnel, so I took to pixel art to try something new/less strenuous, and finally make a game with the old thing. I'll post pics on here eventually, but it is coming along so nicely! The main character is Zeus, a goat-bull. You may recognize him if you followed my NSFW account. It's probably a huge mistake to use him, but I love his design so much and he's adorable. It would be a shame to waste him.
I think a believable goal is to have the game finished in late Spring 2021 or early summer, as I have a lot done already, and I'm doing my best to get a little bit of progress done each day. I'm working on everything by myself, except for music & sounds, so it's a slow but steady race.
Now then, here at my goals for 2021:
1. Don't die. :x
2. Finish the backgrounds for Bullwhip. I don't know how many are left, but one of the main reasons that I quit video games and canceled any other commissions is that I want to finish projects faster. Make art fast -- get experience fast -- start new projects FASTER!
3. Start a new graphic novel project. I have an idea for a new comic. I would like it to be longer than Vanishing Woods, but made digitally and a simplified black & white. My goal would be to finish it in 1 year when I get started!
4. Finish chapter 1 of Infrared? I'm not sure when I'll return to this project, as I'm more interested in my game at the moment. Also the story for Infrared is honestly a HUGE bummer and I feel like working on happier tales for once with this year being what it is. Ironic since the videogame is not a happy story either, being horror, but Infrared is SUPER depressing in comparison.
That's about it. Sadly I don't think I can use Patreon or similar services to help support my projects. I know myself well and have trouble keeping up with projects and real-work on a schedule. My new job is okay: I love the 3 day weekends, but working the nightshift 10 hours a day is certainly something else. @__@ One bad "night" of sleep can mess me up for a week and makes it hard to make art quickly.

Posted 5 years agoLife is pretty chaotic right now for us Americans. ;__; I hope you all are staying safe and symptom-free. My seasonal job ended, so I was at first excited to go into background commissions and work on them like an art-robot, but my age finally caught up with me and I got what I think is a bad carpal tunnel attack. ;;;_____;;; All week I've been pacing myself and doing wrist exercises and wearing a brace. It's helped a lot and today is the first day I've felt almost normal. I do have terrible work habits so this is a good wakeup call.
Good news is that I have two pages of Infrared made. It'll be nice if I'm able to catch up and finish this chapter up before the end of the year.

Possible Art Changes (NSFW Direction)

Figured I'd write a journal since I'm having trouble adjusting to a new sleep schedule.
Good news: I've left the job I disliked and started my favorite job today!
Bad News: Job I like admitted today that, despite telling us there would be 20-30 work hours in January, there's basically going to be almost no work until the stores we visit are ready for work. Probably until February. ;__;
I'm looking at the bright side of this, however. Despite being super groggy today, I was in a much better mood and the schedule change made a noticeable difference in how much free time I have. I'd like to take the time I now have to get back into the swing of art, as my previous job made me too drained and depressed to keep up a schedule.
Some things I would like to do: get back to work on my Infrared comic, try to make my Patreon more active, finish commission(s) I currently have and try to take on more and finish them in a practical timeframe (time management is a huge flaw of mine), get a new graphic novel started, develop a game??? And more.
That being said, I'll slowly dip my toes in more NSFW art. That's been already been happening on this account, but I'll experiment with more niche fetishes to see what "feels right". I will post the more risque ones on E621. My biggest fear has always been that publishers or whoever will see my artwork and be all, "Wah, degenerate! We can't hire you, what will the youths think?" But if publishers are digging for dirt all the way in E621 that's their own fault, and they can pay my bills if they don't want me to draw anything lewd. Drawing adult content isn't something I've opposed to doing, it has only been a mix of awkwardness and laziness.
I'll open myself for commissions when I learn how to sleep properly again.

I did remove the weekly drawing reward from the Silver Egg tier, but I also lowered the price of the Silver & Golden Egg tiers to $2 & $5. I hope this will bring in more patrons, but also make it fairer since I do not have my Patreon set up on a monthly basis.

Notes On Life and Absence
Posted 6 years agoHey everyone, just wanted to let you all know that I'm alive.
The entire beginning of my 2019 was kept busy with an ambitious commission, and two jobs. Sometimes I would be too tired to get much of anything done, especially with the two jobs, so that made finishing that commission take a very very long time, so I didn't get much personal art for myself made.
The commission was finished awhile ago, but there was still the issue of other things needing my attention, such as comic con. Comic con sadly did not earn me a lot of money, and this was the same for the majority of people there. I'll look into getting a cheaper table next year.
I did get myself clip studio paint, and I have been having a lot of fun with it! Some aspects I have been getting frustrated with because I'm so blind-sighted by my old ways with photoshop, but the transition is going smoother than expected.
I want to apologize for not being around to reply to any favs, watches, for notes. Like I said before, my jobs left me very tired and sometimes talking with people online was just as exhausting as in person. I'm looking to make my patreon more active when I have my next webcomics ready to go. It won't be anytime soon, but expect me to upload SFW and NSFW stories in the future. :)
That's it. Pretty soon I'll be working two jobs again and will probably be quiet for a few months more.

January Overview
Posted 7 years agoSorry for the inactivity. Been very very very very very very very busy. I made a new nicer font for Vanishing Woods, so it's now super legible. I also compiled all of the pages of Vanishing Woods into one super PDF, so now I can submit it to publishers I've had my eyes on. It'd be super convenient if my dream came true.
I'm not sure where to go from here, and I'm too tired to think about it today. I'm worn out from working, and I'm tired because a car alarm in my apartment's parking lot set off at 6:30. I'm not sure what happened, but there was a fight between two people, so there might have been an attempted break in, so that was interesting to see.
After I vegetate I'll try getting back to work on Bullwhip backgrounds. I need the monies.

November Overview - Exciting Vanishing Woods News!

Sooooooooo.
I am proud to say that I have inked all pages of Vanishing Woods. That's right, it's done! No more hiatuses. There are only 17 updates left, which means Vanishing Woods will be completely uploaded by March 17th, 2019. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That means I have a 4 month break from this comic (sort of). In the mean time I will be doubling down on backgrounds for Bullwhip. I don't remember how many are left off the top of my head, and I think my list isn't a complete one, but it would be great to get those done within the four months so I can have more free time to do comics full time again.
I want to thank everyone who's stuck through the story for so long. I apologize for that long hiatus that occurred last year. That sucked for the both of us. I hope that when the end finally arrives you enjoy the story. It'd be really neat for it to be published in a real book after some polishing, and maybe some coloring. Colors are weird because, on the one hand, it's super cheap to go black and white. But, on the other hand, I spent maybe two hours browsing a comic shop, and I don't remember coming across any new black and white comic at all compared to all of the comics I found made with color.
Welp, not much else to say. As a bonus for reading this journal, here are some sneak peaks at why my plans are for the future when I finish the backgrounds:

I’ve been thinking about this genre a lot for upcoming projects. I do enjoy reading regular and furry romance comics, so I would like to tackle the genre myself one day after these backgrounds are all done. I just have some concerns. Concerns about drawing sex.
I know that sex, especially furry sex, can sell really really really well. But, this is probably the anxious and lazy side of me talking, I just don’t feel like drawing it? My human and humanoid figures have suffered a bit from lack of practice and drawing too many animal characters. So it’s probably my fear of imperfection guarding me from failure. There’s also the negative stigma that I’d be afraid of from friends and family, future job prospects (not that there’s a line for my resume or anything). And I’ve been socially absent for quite awhile, so I kind of forgot what it feels like? Whoops, lol.
If I were to tackle a romance comic right now, it’d probably be just be light romance? Light to heavy kissing, same with heavy petting, etc. But then I think of people who might be all, “Why would I read this tease when I can have free sexy drawings served to me on the silver-blue platter that is e621?”
I’m overthinking it probably, as I do most things.
But anywho, if anyone has some favorite romance comics I would love to have some examples sent my way. It’d also be fun to hear and discuss your own thoughts. What do you enjoy reading? Do you have a preference for cheesecake or hardcore romance? What do you prefer to draw?

Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday. I had fun with mine, just wish it hadn't been so short.
January was quite a productive month for me, hence why I've been so quiet. I got 8 pages of Vanishing Woods completed, and they have a nicer quality to them than my previous pages since I'm more patient with most backgrounds. I probably won't update the comic yet though until I have some more made to avoid long hiatuses again. I'm also near the climax of the story, so that's exciting.
This weekend I sketched and inked 5 pages for the Creators For Creators Grant (http://creatorsforcreators.org/). I was so nervous about not being able to make time to get to that, but I'm more relaxed now that I only have to color the pages.
Not a lot of progress on the Bullwhip backgrounds this month sadly. Sorry about that. :( I'll do my best to get some progress made with that this weekend.
That's about it. Just being busy and juggling too many projects as always. Have a great day!

So, all week I've been thinking about getting into the nsfw art scene. That won't happen right away since in my sketches I noticed I'm out of practise drawing humanoid figures. I'm just wondering if people wouldn't mind seeing that type of work here on my main account, or if you would prefer me to keep it separate on a new account.
Also let me know if you'd like a sketch for said upcoming developments, since I don't have any characters developed for the sexy genre at all. ;)

Sorry about the lack of updates. When I said that I was hoping to get back to Vanishing Woods at the end of the month, I did not expect my job to have us work mandatory overtime on the weekends. This went on for the past three weeks, and shows no signs of stopping. I am tired, and was not able to get much done, except for a new Bullwhip background.
So, sadly for Vanishing Woods, the hiatus will be a lot longer than expected, but not just because of work. I'll be continuing to do Bullwhip backgrounds so the progress of the game can be sped up, and I am also interested in joining this contest: https://medibang.com/contest/jumpun.....sal/?locale=en
I know I have a negative chance of winning, but I would like to draw something different for a chance of breath air since I have been getting burned out by work. After Christmas I'll be looking for a new job that doesn't rob me of weekends, but for now I'll tough it our for the extra money (and health insurance), since I have a big family and need to get a lot of presents for them. Lol
On the bright side, progress in other areas was made this month:
*Bullwhip background!
*A rough draft for a new story is 99% complete
*Better drawing habits that will hopefully prosper

Commissions Open!

Currently my rabbit is at the vet, and, while I did receive a call this morning that he was doing better and showing spunk, I honestly think the he won't make it. *EDIT*: Received a call today that he should be fine and ready to go on Monday. Way to give me an extra push on the emotional-merry-go-round.

Silly Question About Commissions (Taxes?) / Other!
Posted 8 years agoOkay, I'm having trouble getting a straightforward answer from google. Does anyone know how much I would need to make from commissions each month in order to begin putting that info on my taxes? I know I don't make enough now, but I'm lawful to a fault and would be at peace to know.
Other news, I also signed the lease for my own apartment! So I might be a little quiet during my moving time sometime around August 7th, but afterwards I'd like to open up for commissions again. If anyone is interested feel free to send a note. It's never too late to start planning.
(Noob Illustrator commission will be shut down now, until I figure out how to make better lineart with it.)

Stuff is unpacked!

I was able to move comfortably two weeks ago, and I finally received my items back from storage yesterday. Found a new job right away, and had began my first day of training today. My PC made it through the trip A-okay (though the monitors flicker sometimes, their cables might be loose), so hopefully I'll be back to posting art soon.
Bad news is that my comic supplies were also in storage, so no progress was made for Vanishing Woods after the move. ;__; Not-so-bad-but-kind-of-sucky-news, there are no scanners at the libraries here that allow my to take my files home via USB. So, while I'll be working on the next upcoming pages of VW, the next update may not be for awhile, but it will probably be multi-paged.
For now expect to see more background art for Bullwhip in the upcoming future. Thank you all for your patience. I'll do my best to find a good schedule to update again.

Moving Soon

Just wanted to let you know that next week my stuff will be packed and I'll be moving soon. Sadly my computer will be carried via pod storage, so I won't be able to make any art while I wait for it to be shipped. I'll be getting my stuff back maybe a little over a week later? This upcoming week I'll try to make some extra Vanishing Woods pages, but I'm sad to say that I might miss a couple of Sundays. Hopefully I'll make it up to you all with a big super update, since the upcoming scenes are quite exciting.

I finally joined the band wagon and made myself a Patreon account. I kept it simple since I know myself, and I wouldn't want to give anyone false promises. I had to label my Patreon as adult since I intend to upload darker works when I get to them, and shit's about to go downhill real quick in Vanishing Woods. Hence the reason why I'm posting it in my FA journal.

I'll be out of state for the rest of the month while visiting my family. I busted my ass to have enough comic pages ready to upload while I'm gone, so Vansihing Woods will contiue as usual. Anything else will be on hold, not that there was much in the first place.
