Updated Twitter Handle

You'd think there'd be some mechanism in place for realizing that the phone number associated with this account is the same as the one they banned and by "you'd think" I of course mean "of course you wouldn't think" because just look how many times they had to 'ban' the same Nazis over and over again.
Anyway this was my first twitter account before I abandoned it so I just went back to using this.
But hey, nostalgia - going by the "Skunk" moniker again, it always did sound better than Whimsy. Which...ironically is the name I used to use for this account.

2) I should probably stay off of there anyway, especially now that the SCOTUS is nearly back in session, but I might circumvent it if only to keep up with wrestling discourse. Of all the dumpster fires of the internet, that's the one I just can't quit. If I do, I'll share the new account for anyone who was following me there.

About a week out from formally dismantling democracy
General | Posted 3 years agoThings were pretty calm after Dobbs but, the SCOTUS is back in session in a week to continue their work of dismantling American democracy. Well, as one of the Propublica writers pointed out that's a bit misleading as America was never a true democracy, lacking the most basic safeguards to protect against this very thing while being hugely slanted in favor of the whims of racist whites.
But we'll just say 'democracy' as a means of making it simpler.
Looking into it, here's what you can expect:
They're going to end affirmative action, I guess because having merely most of the advantages wasn't enough for white parents and their idiot spawn.
Very likely they'll rule that it's okay to deny services to LGBTQ people unless Roberts can convince the other 5 psychotics on the bench to leave that one alone for now (but he failed to do it with Roe which is why you'd be forgiven for thinking there's some kind of revolution taking place among women. Spoiler: there probably isn't, unfortunately women also come in 'white').
Going to more or less remove whatever remains of environmental protections although given that we're fucked on that front anyway I guess it's kind of irrelevant. I've noticed most of you seem content to ignore that reality but just to be clear win lose or draw, it's the end of the world.
And what is considered to be their primary objective: they're likely to rule that Republican state legislatures can choose their own. electors, even in defiance of election results. That'll formally end democracy in America which people are kind of underselling right now. So if you're wondering why the GOP are behaving this way, almost as if they won't have to face any electoral consequences, it's because they won't. That's why McConnell only cared about the courts, there was no more future in the party in elections nor any need for elections once he had the courts locked up. Ultimately what's going to happen is that the courts will make it impossible for anyone other than Republicans to win, Republicans will gain total power in these last remaining "elections," then either end elections altogether or continue to hold sham elections in order to remain viable on the world stage, similar to Hungary (which is why Tucker Carlson is always instructing Republicans to follow Orban's example, because he wrote a perfect road map on how to dismantle a democracy in record time). Regardless, they'll refuse to be removed from power and when they age out of wanting to be in power, likely not until their 90's, they'll select their own successors.
More importantly: Nobody will do jack shit about it. Citizens will rationalize it, say something about how 'the pendulum always swings back, you'll see!" then ultimately get used to it, and it'll be normal. Americans are too lazy to mount any meaningful resistance to a dictatorship, and no fewer than a hundred million of them actively want one, if it means the genocide of everyone else, because a certain demographic in this country has absolutely no culture to their background other than the destruction of everyone else. It's what defines them. And just look how weak the response to killing Roe was.
Nobody's gonna do shit.
There's more than that of course, those are just what immediately spring to mind. There are tiny chances some of them might produce what appear to be good results as Roberts attempts to make is court appear more 'moderate' for immediate political reasons but, anything the fascists punt on is something they're confident can be accomplished later down the line. And not all that later.
So, I've been aware of all this for quite some time and figured I'd handle it in one of two ways. Currently, I'm attempting plan B, which is to simply leave the country, despite the nagging reality that all major governments across the world are going to be fascist in my lifetime {democracy was never compatible with human nature. It's young and it's already failing). Plan A is still very much on the table, however, and last term the SCOTUS made it easier than ever. What's not on the table is simply living this way. Not acceptable, not happening. I advise anyone with the means to immediately start making a plan to leave. Nobody is coming to save you, not the courts, not the voters, no revolution is on the horizon. For those without the means, well...sorry but empathy is useless, rendered obsolete even against a fraction of the proportion of cruelty, and I've given up on it on a macro level. And I have to admit part of my ultimately plan was to settle in across the border and point and laugh at all the upcoming suffering cause frankly...everyone did it to themselves. Because they just couldn't be assed to stop it when they could.
So, fuck empathy. It's a loser. Every time.

This AP article about Italy
General | Posted 3 years agoThe title is literally:
It's in Q&A format and the final question is:
DOES THAT MEAN ITALIANS SUPPORT FASCISM?
...Yes? Yeah? Can - can I have a co-writing credit on this explainer, please?
But despite the fact that the article all but admits it's a fascist party, and at least goes as far to admit that asking if it means Italians are fascist is a fair question. they go on to make sure you know that Meloni said fascism is bad, after she was asked on the campaign trail if fascism is actually good, due in small part to how her party is fascist and she is on tape saying how much she loves Mussolini who was, hey look, a fascist.
"But ya know, if she says she's not, that's good enough for us!"
-The Press
You know it's nice to know that it's not just US politics that pussyfoots around calling this what it is. The article, and a separate article on the same topic, goes on to explain "Meloni took on a more moderate tone upon victory..."
Like yes, trust me, it's the same process over and over again. Fascists earn support by stating "this is who I would like to eradicate. Wouldn't you?"
People, in general, agree.
Then the fascist wins, and the first thing they say is "Don't worry, people I said I wanted to eradicate, everything's gonna be juuuuuuuuuuuuust fine." *Wink*
Then they get that "strikes more unifying tone' article that they were after, like it's this weird social contract wherein the press knows better but plays dumb(fuck) out of common courtesy.
Anyway, like I already said, all of Europe is gonna succumb to fascism sooner or later, because you never have to convince people that they can solve all their problems by harming others. That's the default human line of thinking. And you know, personally? I'm starting to agree. Not with the fascism itself but that the solution is to harm others, lots and lots of others. The results, of course, depend on who you harm. And I hate to disappoint the majority demos but, you can kill, oh I dunno, let's say 6 million gays, and it still won't bring grocery prices down.
You know how many CEO's it would take?
So, so many less.
EXPLAINER: How a party of neo-fascist roots won big in Italy

The Hell of Being a Nuanced Individual
General | Posted 3 years agoor, "Why even just that journal title makes me sound like some lame ass libertarian."
To those who have followed my exploits for awhile, you might be surprised to learn that I think things are dumb. Lots of things. Things and especially people. And it is my general philosophy that no person or thing is exempt from the divine truth that everything is dumb.
Now, this encounters a bit of a conflict when it comes to people who, in general, I agree with on social and political issues. A lot of people see my overall presence and assume I'm some kind of hard-left hammer and sickle type. That's not really true. You'll notice I don't spend so much time championing liberal/progressive/leftist/ causes as much as championing the idea of shooting every Nazi in the head, and sterilizing their children. In general, I'm a left-leaning individual, believing in science, equal rights, and economic equity for everyone but I'm also pragmatic, and a realist - results matter to me more than ideas.
Because frankly, lefties - a lot of your ideas and rhetoric are fucking stupid. And so are many of you.
This becomes a problem because thanks to the dramatic rise of Nazism in such a short amount of time, nobody really wants to be caught with a slightly nuanced opinion and risk being lumped in with the absolute worst of the subhumans among us. Make no mistake, these nuanced opinions are nothing like "Well I think blacks should just comply" or 'trans kids shouldn't do sports." It's generally a situation where I agree with the general idea but disagree with the framing, or disagree with the absolutionism - you have to be flexible to make progress in a world hellbent on avoiding it - but I hate to put that out there. It's not just politics. Could be the ideas surrounding arts and entertainment.
The other day my sister warned me about publicly hating the art style of Steven Universe. And boy, do I hate it.
Here's a pretty good example of what I'm talking about: Some time ago a game came out, dating simulator, I think it was called Dungeon Boyfriend or something like that, correct me if I'm wrong. The game was immediately noted for its copious amount of trigger warnings. Some more obvious than others. The "people might not take no for an answer" warning seems sensible I suppose. The "The game refers to a character as Mom which you can turn off in case you had to kill yours in order to escape your childhood murder dungeon" warning was a bit new to me. Okay so fine, whatever. But since it had so many warnings already, it kind of emboldened the TW-Enthusiasts Club to demand even more obscure trigger warnings, some of whom angrily accosted the devs online for not including them to begin with. Every single thing that could posisbly remind somebody of an unpleasant experience in their life had to be formally dinged. Later I saw a tweet from somebody who said something to the effect of "these people won't be happy until all art is castrated of any of its meaning." And I agreed with that tweet - or did I? See, before I could formally agree with it, I had to check the feed of the person who wrote it. Were they a level-headed individual expressing dismay at a budding culture which seeks to rob art of its ability to make the viewer uncomfortable, as is often the goal of art at least in part? Or was this a rightwing shithead launching some paper-thin tirade about how unfair it is that you can't say 'retard' anymore? Checked the feed. Seemed okay. Quote-tweeted the reply to express my agreement but added that I had to first make sure the intent behind it was sound.
And that's what I mean. I myself am loaded with opinions just like that, I too believe that an artist is not under an obligation to undermine their own creation just to ensure everybody who might possibly view it is as comfortable as possible. Which, out of context, would trigger flags in people who are trained to be constantly vigilant for the worst kinds of people, and it's created a situation where the only way to avoid judgment is to adhere to a by-the-book set of assigned opinions on a given topic. And hell, even saying that makes you sound like one of those idiots on twitter with a Pepe icon describing themselves as a 'free thinker' when they really just mean "I want to fuck my 14-year-old girlfriend."
You see the problem!
There are things out there that I completely support, movements that have my unyielding allyship for whatever it's worth, at the ballot box or where ever else, and that absolutely does not mean that I don't think those movements and its people can be and are super flawed. Everything is flawed. Nobody is exempt, even if you're on the right side of history. Nobody gets it completely right, and nobody completely agrees. But while I'm willing to share some of these nuanced opinions, others I keep pretty close to my chest, only sharing them with friends and family when I'm confident they'll understand where I am - and perhaps most importantly, am not - coming from. It makes it hard for a guy like me to interact because I'm constantly being irritated by shit I think is fucking dumb but I'm unable to express this. Dumb doesn't have to mean bad, evil, or disgusting, it can just mean dumb, nothing ever just means 'dumb' anymore. It's easier to just say nothing, as much as I'd love to inform some of these people and movements about things I think they could do to heighten their own legitimacy in the eyes of the uninitiated, because being right doesn't matter, and has never mattered; it's being palatable to an uncaring majority that you need to figure out.
This journal is not an invitation for so-called 'centrists' to forge an understanding with me. In an age where the current debate is nothing more complicated than "we want to kill blacks, gays, women, trans kids, and everyone else" vs. "we think you're assholes," there's a right side, and a wrong side, and refusing to pick one defaults you to the wrong side, and you too can be shot in the head as far as I'm concerned. Rather, this is about the difficulty of interacting within the legitimate spectrum of debate, which has been forced to cram instead into an absolutionist corner to order to create as much distance as possible from the other end, which isn't even worthy of legitimate consideration.
I think the best way to sum this up is to remind ourselves of that eons old advice we've all heard since we were kids: nobody's perfect. We seem to forget that these days. And I think it's important to differentiate between 'imperfect' and 'actual asshole.' What makes it easy is that you only have to look for the assholes, because everyone is imperfect.
Yes, even you.

Gonna have to re-enter the workforce
General | Posted 3 years agoUnemployment's about dried up and god knows they're gonna raise my rent again next year, they've done it every single year (But certainly didn't let that guilt them into fucking the fucking washer and dryer) so far.
Initially, my plan was to never work again and just kinda not being around long enough for that to matter but I botched that and ended up in college (sort of) so that complicates matters a bit. I need to keep time open for class and schoolwork and if I'm being honest, I can't function if I don't have adequate free time to just...do nothing and not be near anybody.
It's times like this when I super envy those super popular artists who can convince you guys to collectively pay them a couple large to draw a picture of boobs. I've considered if I wanted to try the Patreon route but I can't even get my following to leave me feedback on my birthday (I tried this once and lmao they just couldn't be assed but MORE PORN PLEASE WHIMSY :D) so I can't really see that succeeding and even if I did have some patrons, my moods just aren't reliable enough for that. It's one of my life's biggest frustrations, all the real artists can draw dumb shit no matter how they feel, that's how expertly detached they've gotten from their craft, once it stopped being about art and started being about money and I wish a thousand wishes that I could do the same. The temptation is there to say "besides I'm too shitty an artist for anyone to give a damn" and that should be true and it is when it comes to clean art where only the art itself is the would-be appeal but especially if you're known for a particular porn niche, which I guess I still am, the actual ability is kind of a non-factor. People will put up with absolute trash if it gets them off. So like I said, the primary issue is that I can't promise enough content to make it a worthy investment for even my loyalist of pervs. And that makes me angry. Why must I be so impeccably wired to avoid success in literally all areas.
...So that probably means trying to find a rather shitty job I don't want because my last one was the only one I was ever sort of okay with. And that means trying to explain to them "No, they said I was making threats, but it was just an off-handed silly remarked between buddies and - oh you've already rejected me because there's no room for nuance in the working (or real) world, got it." One thing I came away with on my last jobs is that I just don't really belong with or near other people. I don't understand them, I don't know how to relate to them, and I evidently don't know how to communicate with them without just getting myself into a problem. I was content to just stay away forever. Sure I could tell myself "Alright next time, don't say a word, just put your head down and work the 8 hour shift and leave" but again, there's that impeccable wiring again, I can't do that. I've never been able to do that. Hell I can't even turn in a homework assignment without adding in the comment box how much I hate Adobe.
I don't even know where to apply. My primary experience is in security but my last job was unique in how it entailed more than just sitting/standing somewhere for hours on end doing nothing. There's nothing and I mean nothing in this world I hate more than boredom. And I fucking loathe retail, hate working with customers, hate being responsible for money, hate how basically every retail manager in the entire history of time is a fucking sociopath.
Just do not like the working world at all, due in large part to its affiliation with the rest of the world.
But I don't have a lot of choice. I need to leave this shithole country and I can't do it without any money.

Adobe Animate fucking sucks
General | Posted 3 years agoIt's final project time (it's a short program) and all I can think is, I could do this in half of an evening if I were allowed to just animate it any way I want to but because it has to be in shit ass adobe it's gonna take probably days of work just to fucking understand why certain layers are disappearing and certain ones won't fucking move.
Layers I don't need.
Layers I don't want.
All because of the way that dork ass teacher insisted on making this fucking logo I have to animate. I'm so pissed off. The class doesn't teach you to animate, it teaches you to attempt to work around the endless bugs and obstacles of a shitty fucking program that was foisted on an industry whose sole concern is cutting costs by normalizing diminishing quality.
And the worst part is how he spends all fucking class saying how powerful Adobe is. And then spends the rest of it explaining why Adobe can't do simple tasks but it's our fault for wanting it to.
My entire experience with this trashware has been me knowing what I want to do, knowing how I could do it manually in some other program, and not knowing why adobe simply won't.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.
Layers I don't need.

A Year of Attempted Music
General | Posted 3 years agoNow here's a journal nobody will care about but that's okay, I'll just have a conversation with myself and pretend I'm talking to somebody who does care. I've done it before.
Last fall I obtained my Yamaha keyboard and while it's certainly no $5,000 professional piece of electronic sound production that you'd see on stage of a reputable band (which used to exist, trust me, music used to be sorta good, and game music used to be more than just ambient, look it up), it certainly allowed me to add more layers to my otherwise sad attempts at composition. So I'm just gonna look back and what I've put together in that time in order of appearance.
Zane's Theme: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45656089/
This was kind of the catalyst for me getting the keyboard to begin with. I was excited about making this character (before I remember that it's wrong to feel excited about anything non-pornographic in this fandom) and wanted to give him the works, a reference sheet, a full bio, and even entrance theme music, which I felt would really hammer home his whole vibe. The trouble was, my bass guitar seemed to be busted in some unknown way and I didn't want to try and put something together using just my other guitar, alone. So that's when I rather impulsively decided to buy a keyboard while sitting in the upstairs office at work. I figured, hey, it'd allow me to synthesize a bass line and also give me access to all kinds of other sounds and 'instruments' so I can do more than just try and make my guitar sound different and/or awkwardly import outdated MIDI sounds. Although a mid-tier, at best, piece of equipment at around the $500 mark, it still stands as the nicest instrument anyone in this riff-raff family has owned.
With the keyboard in hand, my ambitions with Zane's theme expanded a bit. Inspired by the saccharine, upbeat tone of Hopes and Dreams from Undertale, the goal of the song was to try and manifest Zane's character in audio form. Zane is a very friendly, undeniably adorable, and somewhat awkward bunny boy whose love of games and cartoons dominates his public persona, and he aims to present himself as something of a living cartoon character, a kind of bright-eyed, irresistibly cute manchild who seems almost not real, too pure for this world, but that's juxtaposed with his in-ring abilities which are not only impeccable, but even a little bit ruthless. A bouncy submission expert who tears at his opponents' limbs and then lovingly hugs them after they've been defeated, the song needed to present that this wasn't your typical Wrestle Wrabbit.
It's a track I've considered remaking now that I have more experience with the keyboard and also with mixing. It's not terrible but as the first thing I ever did with the keyboard upon acquiring it, there were certainly some growing pains to be dealt with. Really makes me wonder what my plan was when I just had a bass and guitar.
Interestingly, his super-upbeat theme song is actually a repurposed riff that I wrote for a much more melancholy track a while back. I don't like to listen to it much since I biffed the audio and you can hear a lot of noise that kind of ruins it when listened to with headphones but nonetheless, here it is: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38388601/
Last Question: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/44605525/
After finishing Zane's theme, I practiced with scales on the keyboard. I'm not a pianist in any sense of the word, not even really a musician. When it comes to guitar, I can basically jam and fuck around until something happens but I can't objectively say I know what I'm doing. The imposter's syndrome is strong. Due to my stubby, generally useless fingers and self, I knew there was no chance of me ever succeeding at actually playing in piano in any meaningful way but I did manage to self-teach myself a simple scale progression, and that progression is what became this song (If you look through my gallery, you'll see an earlier version of this riff when I was just calling it practice, I hadn't yet committed to turning it into a song. My secondary goal was to make a decent song using only the keyboard, and not my guitar, in an effort to get better using the keyboard and not rely so much on the guitar as a crutch, since I've played that for many years (and am still so very mediocre).
Conceptually, I wanted the song come off like a dramatic peak in the finale of a video game. Specifically, I was looking to kind of capture that feeling of a fight that goes from being epic to being emotional, like when the final boss becomes his final form, and while it's not his strongest form, it's definitely his most profound, if that makes sense. Hell it might even be his weakest form, when he abandons all weapons and just faces you man to man. To sell the idea I thought about concepts for a fictional video game for a while the result being a story-driven puzzle game about a troubled, young prison escapee confronting his emotional past and psychological demons, the final battle being a fight within himself to determine if he's the monster he's become or at least thought to be, or if he's the hurt little boy who never had a chance to be anything else. In that sense, the song went from being a faster paced battle theme to being more of an introspective, cathartic one. Did I succeed? I don't know. The only feedback I've ever gotten on it is that the drums are bad.
Heaven: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/46707369/
In a watershed moment for me, I discovered Akuma's Street Fighter II theme a little while back and have been obsessed with it, and various versions from other entries in the series ever since. There's something about those themes that so excellently capture the concept of the character, the original expertly portraying a monumental battle against an overwhelming, other-worldl;y opponent that you can't begin to fathom. You're in there with something above you, spiritually, and you have no chance to comprehend it. Secret characters rule, and I can't point to a better theme for one, anywhere.
So that was my goal with the Nyra character, to give him a theme song that went well with his secret character-like presence within my wrestling world as well as give him an adrenaline pumping battle theme that accurately portrays the intensity, as well as brevity, of the encounter. I'm not saying it's good but it remains one of my favorite attempts at composition, and it's also probably my favorite thing I ever did on guitar, the solo at the 1-minute mark sounding somehow better than I know I really am. The name of the song, Heaven, is a play on its inspiration, as Akuma has the Japanese Kanji for "Heaven" on the back of his gi, highly appropriate, as he's about to unleash an ass-kicking so destructive, it may as well be ordained by God.
World-6: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45699886/
With that yearly FA music contest coming up, I wasn't actually planning to submit anything to begin with, having tried the year before and, as expected, failed miserably. This project is actually a result of a tune that's been in my head since I was like, 8 or so. I started thinking about it and wondered if I had any chance at recreating it, myself. Since unlike my other music, I had the tune of this one pretty much entirely 'written out' in my head for years, I put it together in incredibly quick fashion, just in time to go ahead and submit it to the contest with only days to go before the entries closed.
Of course, I failed miserably once more.
The song itself has a weird and complicated history within my psyche which I go on to explain on the submission itself if you're interested, which you aren't, so I won't bother to write it all out here again. All I'll say is, I tried to keep it simple and make it sound like it could feasibly exist in a 90's platformer game. It more or less succeeds in that regard, at least to me.
True Happiness: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47016658/
This one was an intimidating prospect. Written for my Jin-Yuta character, Yuta is presented as kind of my biggest star among the wrestling characters, not so much in terms of world-wide recognition, which would likely go to some kind of Western meathead. Yuta was more slotted into the rule of someone like Okada, a generational living-legend widely regarded as the best in the world by those close to the business itself. Yuta was made to be more mysterious and essentially presented as wrestling's 'final boss.' So he needed a theme song that lived up to that kind of hype.
Once again taking inspiration from an Akuma theme, Yuta's theme borrows elements from Akuma's Alpha 2 Gold theme as well as Orge's theme from Tekken 3. The latter is very apparent in the intro. In all the song was meant to signal the arrival of an absolute megastar, not with an overtly sound and aggressive tone, but with one that builds anticipation and mystique. The sitar sound is the aforementioned Akuma influence and was designed to give Yuta's theme a kind of other-worldly, imbalanced feel in that section. The main, repeating flute riff that plays throughout actually started as a heavy-metal riff I made up on my guitar over a decade ago, which is potentially appropriate because I imagine that Yuta, in his younger, less mystical days, presented himself as a brash hair-metal rocker type, so if I can ever find a decent way to record guitar audio (I can sort of do it with my Loop Station pedal but it's not at all adequate for recording heavy metal tones), it'd be neat to write a version of his theme from earlier in career that contains that same riff, albeit used very differently. I tentatively want to say that Yuta's theme is objectively the best music project I've put together in terms of overall execution and mixing. I feel like if nothing else, I successfully portrayed what I wanted to in the character.
Music has slowed down a lot as the world's become shittier, I've become more depressed and unable to put together more involved projects, and am now focused on college and ultimately leaving the country but, if nothing else, I feel like the keyboard purchase wasn't in vain, and I've enjoyed seeing what I can do with it. I'm still not great, I've never been great at anything, but I've objectively been getting better and if nothing else, it's been cool to finally do something with all those riffs I've had in my head since I was a kid.
Wow Whimsy, that was all really interesting, I'm glad we're friends :)
Thanks, Whimsy.

Haha just gained and lost a watcher so fast...
General | Posted 3 years agoGot a couple faves and a watch from a dude who describes himself as:
Philosopher (lol he's 23)
Apoliticist (Red flag)
Objectivist (SUPER red flag)
Humanist (But only if that human is you, per the previous entry)
Mutualist (Sure)
Saudade for lost love (hahaha oh my god shut up)
Dude probably saw my cute bunny, came to my page, noticed that I committed the cardinal of thinking people who want to kill me and the people I care about should themselves be killed, didn't understand why I couldn't just compromise and let some of those people be genocided, then decided to go read however much Atlas Shrugged it takes to feel like the smartest guy in the room again.
And just as a reminder, the dude was like 23 years old.
"I'm a philosopher! :D"
Hahahahaha get the fuck out of here, Jesus Christ, I'm so glad I'm not in my early 20's anymore, I know I wasn't quite that full of it but oh lord.

Adding furries to my Twitter Circle

If you're not on Twitter, that's good, that's healthy. But if you're a fucking idiot like me, then I'm inviting furries who would weirdly want to follow me there to be included in my Twitter Circle, which I'm basically using Circle as a means of posting crap I don't want to be seen by the people whom I want to continue respecting me. Honestly, for the moment it's slow going and if you follow me here and regularly visit this website there's not a lot of reason for you to follow me on Twitter unless you want more content about wrestling, video game clips, and lots and lots and lots of remarks about white people and my perception of their usefulness to society.
If you decide you want in, again, fucking idiot, but, if you give me a follow and it's obvious you're one of them I'll add you to the circle. I'm not being too picky right now but I have to admit there's a handful of people in my watch list whom I might 'forget' to add. No offense but I absolutely don't want to talk about wrestling with the kinds of furries who would want to talk about wrestling, and if you're an exception to that rule, you probably already know that you are. And of course all accounts will be screened for even trace amounts of Nazism.
I expect exactly zero takers but if nothing else, I want this journal to stand as a record of me attempting, albeit lightly, to reach out more sociably, to be brought up the next time I write a journal complaining about something and somebody asks why I'm always so negative, despite the fact that you people ignore 100% of my non-negative journals.

This AI art thing is actually terrible, BTW
General | Posted 3 years agoWhile I had fun for those first 15 minutes with DALL-E like anyone else, the entire time I couldn't help but be nagged by the thought of what that technology actually means. At a time in human history when we can see pretty much all other facets of society nearing their end (we really are just gonna ignore that whole the-entire-Western-US-will-soon-be-completely-uninhabitable problem, aren't we?) it's disheartening to see that we're also in the process of eradicating artists, artistic theory, and the very motivation to create.
Anybody thinking about it for longer than four seconds can see that it's just going to end up being yet another casualty of capitalism, as corporations, ever concerned about their bottom-line, seek to remove the human element from art, as the human part is the one you have to pay. And if there's one good thing about humans, and it might just be the one thing, it's our creative curiosity, our unique habit of crafting, drawing, or building stuff as the most abstract means of saying what's on our minds. AI generated art promises to remove that element entirely, leaving behind only cold logic. What's most concerning is how accepting we already know consumers to be of mindless, algorithm-generated forms of media. Look no further than modern commercial music, specially designed to be as replicable as possible, specifically to remove any trace elements of unique, creative expression, a most unpredictable element which would make it harder to base targeted advertising around.
Defenders of these AI art programs will likely often be non-artists who view them as a source of accessibility, giving those untrained in art a means of "creating" something without relying paying an actual artist to do it for them. And this is where, perhaps, I become a bit of an asshole. Because it's my opinion that you're not owed access to art if you didn't put the work into it, and to my original point about consumer acceptance of the practice, you miss the point of art if you think the end result is all that matters yet, unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of consumers feel exactly that way. Additionally, it's especially insidious to see these programs popping up in the furry fandom, arguably the last remaining fertile source of original artwork and thus, original work for the artists. It's a community driven by that relationship between its artists and the people who rely on them to, frankly, craft the entire visual, literary, and audio framework of this world built entirely on fantasy and manifest it into reality.
And the truth is, art, and its originality, was already long suffering. To this day, massive swaths of amateur artwork are informed by the style of anime, the most popular tropes and techniques distilled down to cliches which exist in the work of countless artists just in this fandom alone, but also throughout the entire world. And much of the time, that's pretty much all you're getting unless you're getting one of those artists who instead wants all of their work to look like Steven Universe or similar to that cheap-flash-animation style that Cartoon Network has normalized as acceptable. Artists bringing a truly unique vision, or even just a less-utilized style to the mix were already becoming something of a rarity and now we're threatening all of them at once with the advent of a technology that can just simply dial in all the necessary details.
If you were to ask the artists themselves, plenty of them would likely contend that artificial intelligence cannot replicate the self-expression that goes into a given, hand-drawn piece. And I would generally agree but as previously established, the primary consumers of art - the non-artists - will often fail to see the significance, or the difference. The ends justify the means, and the means, for most of them, are irrelevant.
Personally? I'm tired of making art worse just so more people can feel like they've got a hand in it. Maybe that makes me an exclusionary asshole and I don't want to sound like one of those "bootstrap" rightwing fuckwits but there's something to be said for the work you put into your craft, the work anybody puts into their craft, and the personal insight and quality that goes into it. No, not every artist is bringing the same level of those concepts into their work, some do it for entirely cynical reasons, some may even see this new technology as a way to maximize profits and minimize work, as is the original intent of the technology, but for those who put the work in to get however as good as they are and leave a piece of themselves in everything they create, that intangible quality which leaves its own signature behind, it has to be a slap in the face to see that effort largely nullified so that businesses no longer have to pay for a new logo, or so that the same crowd who can't be bothered to invent a character without the aid of adoptables and YCH auctions can further that lack of effort by just telling a computer to do it all for them.
Because when it's all said in done, all you're seeing is a direct, existential threat to artists and everything that makes art, well, art. The technology isn't yet perfect but the advancement of these things is always exponential. And our only reward for this is going to be a world comprised of far worse artwork. And worse, an entire generation will never know the difference, because the biggest pushers of cheap, automated labor don't want you to know the difference.
Been going to classes for a week
General | Posted 3 years agoThat place needs to get its shit together.
The HTML instructor's like "Okay so let's open Sublime Text for our text editor..."
Me: "Uh...it would appear the school's no longer paying for that, according to this message I got when clicking on the shortcut."
Instructor: "Oh...well, Notepad++ it is."
*BONUS*
Instructor: "Yeah normally this class is only for 24 students but demand was so high and the room is physically large enough that we went ahead and allowed 30 into the class, so there might not be enough computers or chairs but that's okay because some of you will drop out in a few weeks."
Then in my Animate 1 class...
Dorky Animation Teacher Who Is Disappointingly Not Gay Just Dorky: "Okay so let's all open Adobe Animate!"
Class: "Uh...it's saying we need a password that none of us have."
DATWIDNGJD: "Oh, well then...just try and remember it. And no homework I guess."
*BONUS*
DATWIDNGJD: Here's some popular animated shows that were made on Adobe Animate!
Me: Oh, so THAT'S why modern animation is so terrible and cheap looking! I mean, I always said it LOOKED like cheap Flash animation, didn't realize it really WAS cheap flash animation. Thanks for normalizing that as acceptable quality, everybody.
But by far the biggest bullshit of the trio...
Online-Only Web Animation Class Instructor: "So since Flash doesn't exist anymore, we're gonna be doing our assignments on a program called Hype. The only drawback is that it requires a Mac to use, but if you don't have a Mac just make time to come into the campus and use the computer lab Macs when it's not being used."
Me: Fucking WHAT?! In order to do your assignments, a niche piece of hardware that I'm guessing almost none of us poor ass students at this community college/trade school have because it's both expensive and also who wants a fucking Mac other than pretentious weirdos, is required to pass the class? This class that's supposed to be online-only and asynchronous? And you think it's acceptable practice to say that we have to come in every week to use the computers there? And do you also expect us to watch the entire hour and a half worth of instructor videos there, too? In between the time that lab is used for classes? And at no point did "Mac Computer" make it onto the RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT LIST ON THE FUCKING PROGRAM REQUIREMENT GUIDE??? So you're saying this class is ABSOLUTELY on-campus if you're poor? Sure, I can drop $400 on a reburbished 6-year old Macbook which is frankly too small to be doing imaging projects with but what about your students who can't? No wonder you sent out that email about how so many of us hadn't done the project yet, THEY DON'T HAVE THE EQUIPMENT THEY NEED BECAUSE YOU SPRANG IT ON US LITERALLY THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS, FUCK.
So that dude's my mortal enemy.
That's 3 for 3 classes in which something was fucked up, either a little or a fuckton. I look forward to continuing this streak later today when I go in for my second Web Design class.

Guess they're cancelling some student loans
General | Posted 3 years agoAnd I would like to formally request $10,000-to-$20,000 from all of the almost-certainly-white leftist claiming that the loan forgiveness announced today is 'meaningless,' since according to you, that donation would have an insignificant effect on your financial situation, so you must not need it, give it here. I'll buy a pinball machine.
It's actually pretty fascinating how much selfishness from different backgrounds and angles this debate has revealed.
Rightwingers/Moderates: "But I already paid mine!!! Those who didn't should have to suffer too, no better world for ANYBODY!"
Progressives/Leftists: "It's not enough! I don't care how many millions it does help, those people aren't ME and my loans are larger! Meaningless!"
What I'm trying to say is, we live in a timeline which ensures that unrelentingly pessimistic misanthropes like myself are consistently the smartest people in the room.
You're all dumb assholes.
That's the meaning of life.

GOG just released Mortal Kombat Trilogy
General | Posted 3 years ago...And it works right out of the box!
Usually when I post about video games I'm excited about you all respond with a resounding "Anyway, you said you were doing a smut animation, or...?" so I don't know how many of you care about classic Mortal Kombat, if any of you (I know one of you definitely doesn't), but regardless, GOG.com just put up Mortal Kombat Trilogy, the cult-classic Playstation release which was a mashup of the first 3 games into one, taking the gameplay of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 but including the stages and characters from the previous games, including an option to change some characters from their 'current' version to an older version of them, such as playing as MK1 Raiden or MK2 Kung Lao. It also includes the "Brutality" finisher where you unleash a huge combo on your opponent until they explode into about 15 rib cages.
Another fun bonus is that since it's on the PC, the loading times that used to plague the Playstation version are gone. Nothing quite takes the 'oomph' out of pulling out a man's skeleton like gaming to stop and load it, first.
I just checked it out and my Windows 10 turned it on with no issues and my Xbox-based controller was already good to go, no optimizations or work-arounds needed. This is a very exciting release for me personally, I thought I'd never really be able to play this one again, not without breaking out a first-generation PS2, at least.

Noncon Commission Yellow and Red Flags
General | Posted 3 years agoIf you click on my meager list of watchers and sift through those 1,000 names or so, the majority of those weird pervs barnacled their way onto my fan club as a result of my niche of doing noncon or dubcon style porn. It was a tentative thing to explore, something simultaneously become more comfortable with and as uncomfortable with as ever, but allowed me to showcase a version of the niche that focused more on the sub fantasy perspective and avoided certain more crude tropes.
I eventually put that kind of work mostly aside both as a means to inject some semblance of legitimacy into my body of work, whatever it's worth, and also out of increasing resentment for a fanbase that almost invariably couldn't be assed to so much as feign interest in any other work I was doing. America's supercharged misogyny didn't help, either. Still, it's a niche kink I still explore from time to time and still occasionally take commissions for. In fact, I was considering the merits of taking a commission of that type more recently, but have been hesitant to put out the journal expressing so, largely because of how seldom it is that the suggestion I get from a potential buyer is something I really want to do.
So with that in mind, here's a list of suggestions/requests I get for noncon art that either give me pause or outright revolt me.
Yellow - M/F Situations: Yes! I am my own yellow flag. Most of my stuff like this was M/F in nature, but luckily for me, I know what my own brain is thinking, and while I know that for me it's a sub-perspective paradoxically homoerotic fantasy, I always feel like i need to get the low down on anyone else. My "Fuck Off, Nazi" journal is the first line of defense against the most obvious problematic types but that doesn't protect us from say, that weird yet plentiful subgroup of male leftists who ALSO super duper hate women. So it's always important to do some sleuthing and answer the question - harmless fantasy from no particular source, or was your mom mean to you as a kid?
Red - Choking: I knew a guy for whom choking during rape was practically a requirement for him. He later went on to tell me how great Donald Trump was. The two qualities are almost certainly related. Whenever somebody wants choking, especially if their character's in the dominant role, I always think "Ooh, big strong man, rawr, nobody mess with this guy, 'cause he's a baddie!"
Yellow - Buyer's character is Dom: Not automatically an issue but again, this is when I'm gonna wonder what the fantasy is doing for you, exactly, and if nothing else, it'll make it hard for us, buyer-and-artist, to get on the same wavelength in terms of creative direction for the project because I'm gonna be straight with you dawg - dom-minded people are boring as fuuuuuuuuuuck. Oh my god, they've got no ideas, no insight, no creativity at ALL in my experience, it's just 'duhhhhhh I hump you now till I'm happy.'
Red - Violence against sub: Now if your character is the sub or the situation is presented as a rough roleplay then this is more yellow, and the issue is mostly that I'm not interested in drawing that. If your character is the dom and the situation is literal, get the fuck away from me.
Yellow - Impregnation: I used to be more okay with this buuuuuuuuuuuut read the room, guys.
Red - Crying sub: What the fuck is wrong with you?
Yellow - Sex Slave: Feels like it should be Red but it's common enough that I suppose I won't assume it to be reserved for only the most questionable. All the same, much like how those evangelical Christian husbands pretty much demand complete obedience from their wives from the beginning, I raise an eyebrow at anyone who feels they need their dominant role to be this unquestioned. It's a boring power dynamic and makes me wonder why you feel the need to fantasize in such a way that leaves yourself completely unchallenged. Again, if it's a sub-perspective slave thing, less problematic but still very boring.
Red - "Previously-Rejected" Narrative: No, Preston B. Incel, I am not interested in helping you attain your rape fantasy of all the women of the world who wisely avoided your buzzcut head, fat face, and libertarian perspective on a human female's reproductive prime.
Yellow - Sexual Pain: Call me old-fashioned but I just think sex seems more pleasurable when it's not specifically unpleasurable. And between this obnoxious trend of abdominal bulges and dicks that look like medieval torture devices, I do not understand why so many people have decided that pleasurable sex just plain isn't where the party's at. And in relation to noncon porn you could argue "Well, isn't it more unrealistic to suggest it would be pleasurable?" And the answer is, yeah (Usually at least, complicated issue, not gonna get into it here) perhaps, but then you get into those people who insist that their rape porn be 'realistic' and frankly that almost made it onto this list until I decided that it would essentially be a combination of items already here.
Red & Yellow - "Take it, bitch"/"This little slut loves it!": This is both red and yellow because while I'd love to attribute this to a specific kind of chauvinistic fuckwit and I'm sure they play a big role in the proliferation of this crap, the fact is, damn near all of you are god-fucking-awful at writing porn dialogue of any kind, and this is pretty much the only dreck you're capable of coming up with when it comes to noncon or similar work. When there's a story or dialogue involved in a noncon commission I do, the buyer pretty much always lets me handle it unilaterally - and they should. Arrogant? Cocky? Don't care. You all suck at this.
And I'm sure there's more I can come up with but that gives you a basic idea. That last one is kind of a more vague/all-encompassing one in some ways because it explains the mentality of a lot of people going into this kind of thing, and how cliche, crass, boring, and generally degrading most ideas of this type are. Now I'm not faulting you for having a humiliation kink - it's a cornerstone of the genre - but we can get through more nuanced cues and ideas, not just beating ourselves over the head with it because we've got the imagination of a 12 year-old.
For that stuff I tend to prefer to have a small group of regular buyers whom I know, and they know me, and we know how to do business. Putting out feelers for commissions like this with randos is rarely successful given the bad habits so many people have learned. Now I'm not to say that being interested in any one of these concepts makes somebody a bad/questionable person automatically (Although some raise more eyebrows than others) and just my willingness to do that kind of work has subjected me to plenty of criticism and side-eyes over the years, but nonetheless, this is just some of the stuff I try to avoid when taking on an already shaky genre of smut.

Just tried DUSK on the Switch
General | Posted 3 years agoAnd god damn does it play great, there. Only halfway through the opening level but I'm not noticing ANY sacrifices from the PC version, it even runs at 60FPS, which you can't say about many shooters on Switch.
If anything, that much speed and smoothness is almost more than you can handle on console controls.
For those unaware, DUSK fucking rules, it's like if you take the gameplay of Quake, make it WAY more fun and less brown, and then sprinkle it with the themes and motifs of Blood. DUSK has only been around a few years but it's already an all-timer shooter, up there with DOOM, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, etc. and frankly if I'm being honest it beats all of them in level design, which is the game's primary strength - ludicrously creative level designs. It never gets boring because every level has its 'thing.' Be it a level based on the famous MC Escher painting - you know the one - a level that's essentially an indoor version of DOOM's famous Mt. Erebus level (The first open outdoor area in FPS history if I'm not mistaken) and even has "Erebus" in its name to denote that, or the open level's heavy Texas Chainsaw Massacre theme, things never get boring in this one.
And you can dual-wield shotguns.
It's in the eShop for $20 and a limited number of physical editions are up for pre-order on Best Buy for $35. If one can get over the intentionally dated looking 3D graphics of the game, it's one of the best shooters ever made, period.

Session Montage 2
General | Posted 3 years agoAnother montage I made of recent exploits in Session: Skate Sim. Apparently it's getting a physical release some time soon.

I look forward to getting one or two comments on this from people who view feigned engagement with my interests as a charitable act toward my mental health, and a possible 3rd comment from a specific variety of weirdo over the age of 35 who demands I provide them with the MP3 I used.

Ableism is a thing
General | Posted 3 years agoNow with that said, 19-year old twitter users with mild anxiety informing me that the word "idiot" or "moron" are ableist slurs, yes, literally those two, not even just the 'spazgate' scandal rocking American black music, well...
Listen, full disclosure, I'm gonna keep calling people idiots. And morons. And dumbass fuckwitted southerners living in the anus end of nowhere.
And my advice: The disabled people of the world really need to take that word back from the bored 20-somethings of the internet while it still has some meaning. Remember when those same people got a hold of 'woke' from the black community? And then their older, more racist parents and grandparents got a hold of it?
Yeah.

Yeah.
A Republican congresswoman died in a car wreck today
General | Posted 3 years agoAnyway, The Long Dark is on sale over on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/.....The_Long_Dark/
I like this game very much, and if you get it and play it, just imagine how much more kindred our spirits will be.

Kansas Votes to Keep Abortion Rights
General | Posted 3 years agoAnd it was not at all close.
Since Kansas' Supreme Court actually ruled in 2019 that the state's constitution protects abortion rights, the GOP put a referendum on the ballot to try and get around it. I think the idea is that they figured turnout would be low about liberals in a primary election and notching a victory would send a false yet campaignable signal of some kind of national 'mandate' claiming that the people do in fact want an abortion ban. But, well, it didn't happen that way and Kansas voted to retain the protections for abortion rights in convincing fashion, considered something of an upset in such a deep redshithole. state. shithole.
You might be expecting me to make some comments about how surprising this is, but while I'm a little surprised at the margin (appears to be 20 points or so) I'm not super surprised at the result. It's like I've been saying the whole time - even red state asshats aren't generally against abortion, and most of the anti-abortion rhetoric you see is just rape-culture trolling. When it comes down to it, conservative men still don't want to be responsible for their actions, and occasionally, conservative women are capable of recognizing fractions of their own personhood.
Some will say this is a big canary in the mine for the GOP. I wouldn't go that far just yet. After all, it's not like they intend to win their elections via the democratic process anyway.
But all the same, in an age when the news cycle is unrelenting horror at all times, go ahead and enjoy this one for now.

Was doing a porn animation, got bored
General | Posted 3 years agoAnd it occurs to me that I could possibly run a Patreon account based entirely on that concept, shit I almost did and then got tired of.
I mean, blame community college for being so much cheaper, I figured I was gonna need more commission money more immediately and thus I'd do an animation to remind people of why they put up with me (It's literally that easy) but then, eh...I mean that's a lot of work for no tangible payoff.
What I'm saying is, I'm sure if you people give me enough money, there's gotta be a certain threshold where I'd feel guilted into definitely trying to maybe finish it.
That IS how Patreon works, right? At least until I hit the 7-figure page hits club in which case it's mostly just you paying me to pretend we're friends?
