Which I know can be said about any year of course. This year though I'm doing more than just waiting for them or looking for them. I've actually gone out to grab one that will start me on path to doing something that satisfies. Or at least moving on from the retail job I've honestly been doing for far too long. It's not that it hasn't had its perks along the way but those perks have been few and far between recently. Tough market conditions have wiped out what was once a pretty decent staff bonus. Not just decreased...utterly wiped out. Plus the job isn't what it was. Or rather maybe I'm not who I once was. Seems that 20+ years experience have moved me into more of a managerial role. I don't do things anymore, I organise others to get things done. Which doesn't have the same sense of satisfaction.

So I'm looking onward to bigger and better things. Well...better anyway. And to add another string to my bow I'm taking what will be my second copywriting course, the first just being a primer. That's really the field I'd love to break into, to do something with my talents as a wordsmith that I can get a regular pay check for. That's my goal for the year anyway.

This hasn't been a good week for writing really; both my own little projects, my commissions or my Patreon. Something I have to lay firmly at the feet of my workplace I'm afraid. Christmas is always a crazy time of year in the world of Retail and Waitrose is no exception.

For those of outside of the UK Waitrose is something of a more upmarket Supermarket chain, with a focus on experience as much as products. We aren't super expensive on the whole. For every high end, more pricey item we sell there will be a broad selection of affordable lines as well. But I'm digressing.

Christmas at Waitrose has in years gone by felt like organised madness. And I'm not at all against doing additional hours over the festive period. Usually though those hours tend to be on the fly, doing an additional hour here and there to support something that needs doing. This year I'm getting asked in advance, barely, to work two Eleven Hour Days. One of which I've done - 7am till 6pm - and one tomorrow - 11am to 10pm. I feel that's going to be the killer. It's the 23rd after all. Everyone goes crazy on the 23rd. All of this means that I haven't had the energy to do much in the way of writing this week and I'm likely not going to buck that trend before the week is out. I never do any writing over the Christmas break and my last chance to write would have been tomorrow morning. With time taken up by one last present to wrap and a quick trip to the post office I think that's a pipe dream. Still means I can come back to my endeavours refreshed after the holidays. I hope you all have a happy festive season.

....couldn't say I wish to repeat the experience. This makes the third injection I've had over this year and this was by far the worst. Something you can mostly put down to me I think. Turns out I'm not as over my needle phobia as I thought. The first two I was okay with. The numbing/lidocane cream I had worked wonders. This time I was worried I hadn't left it on long enough. That had me feeling anxious from the get go. Which could go a long way to explain the dizzy, almost fainting spell I had afterwards. Except I felt that worry the last time and I was fine. All I can think of was the way the nurse said she was getting some plasters got me really anxious, kinda wondering exactly how big this needle would be. Either way the second I was done I got this rush of emotion, relief, lightheaded, headspinning, weak in the legs. Not a great combination believe me. Hadn't felt this way since my BCG injection in secondary school. I'm just glad my brother was there. He was as he always in my rock. Let's hope the next time is easier.

Well....okay...maybe not quite yet. Not officially anyway. So far the only restriction we've had brought in here for the Omicron variant is advice limiting social gatherings to twenty people or less. Which has been quite a blow to the work Christmas party since we had 65 people purchase tickets. Not me. I wasn't planning on going. It's not that I don't enjoy a Christmas party (I don't but that's another story) more that I wanted to save tickets for someone who will enjoy it. With only 70 tickets available for 300 people it didn't seem fair to take one when so many other people would want to go.

It's also been a blow for me, this whole Omicron variant. More specifically my plans for the new year. I'd had plans to get back out and start doing things up in London and further afield. Restart my meditation practice, finally make that visit to a Bhuddist Temple, get back to gaming clubs and trading card meetups, as well as get in some Tantric sessions. Plus a few more niche things I won't go into here. Now I'm thinking that any travel that isn't strictly neccesary is out, especially if it means taking the Tube. All those crowds in an enclosed space..no..not a good idea. Gonna see what happens early in the new year.

Well..its been a crazy couple of years, in more ways than one. The virus of course. This has been a period of life unlike any other. On top of that, I've had a pretty rough time with a long spell of panic attacks much worse than any I have felt before. That really shook me up. Funny how many ideas can spiral out if one. I’ve always thought so really. After kinda a rough time recently due to catching the mother of all colds (I think the one that has been called the non-COVID cold over this side of the pond) which pretty much wiped me out for a week and a half I’m back and on the ball. ...not Covid. Don't worry about that. I think I've more gone and caught the Not-Covid cold. I don't know if that's a thing across the globe but it's becoming a thing here in the UK. The one good thing about it is that it's moving along rather quickly. The bad thing is that each day is a new adventure in symptoms. I was done with the site throat on Thursday which is good. I've cleared up the congestion on Friday. Which now just leaves me coughing a little and feeling kinda washed out and drained.

The real downside of all of this is I have no energy to do anything overly creative which includes writing I'm afraid. Especially since I'm writing Serenity Base at the moment. Given my feelings that the pilot was somewhat weak, I am kinda striving for a sort of perfection with my efforts for future chapters, which I'll admit is maybe setting an unrealistically high standard but there it is. I just don't feel I can get into the flow I need to write it, so I'm going to wait a few more days and see if I can shake this.

The upside, if it can be called such; is that I'm finding the whole experience weirdly nostalgic. It's comjouring up memories of when I was sick with colds as a child and I could just stay home and kick back and play video games all day. Ahh..the memories of playing the classic Starfleet Academy on PC and drinking lots of Ribena. Good times.

I know times are hard for a lot of people these days yet my good friend Toast is really getting it coming and going and her back is against the wall. No act of a lie. Dealing with health issues and a family that doesn't seem to give a rats, so it would be sweet if anyone could do anything to help. Not in a bad way. Just a different way. As much as I'm trying to stick to shorter chapters and they are when they are written, it's the Planning of them that seems to take up the time. Especially since I'm working on longer story arcs, I do need to know where they are going before I write them. So things won't be coming out as quickly as I might have hoped, but I'm hoping to make things more regular with regards to uploads. One thing I've learned is to be more focused though, which means the shorter story ideas I have will have to fall by the wayside for now. Its something I need to do to speed up my existing story series.

On the flip side, I'm working full steam ahead on a few art projects both for my Patreon and here, including a sweet idea from Serenity Base. In more ways than one. You will want to stick around for that.

As some of you might know, I've kinda been stuck in a depressive episode recently. Speaking bluntly one of the worst I've been through. Scratch that. The worst. I've had moments and blips like this before. Yet nothing like this. They do, funnily enough..seem to come around every ten years or so. Can't say why that is but that does seem to be the pattern they stick too.

This one just came out of the blue, literally no warning. One second I was fine...the next...bam...full on constant panic. It's a hard thing to describe really. Not the panic..but the vagueness of it. If it had some focus or some real worry behind it I could maybe come to terms with it. Getting sick..getting fat...getting old. Those I can talk about. But when your body is just flooding you with adrenaline and who knows what else for no reason there isn't anything you can do.

I get these some mornings. Effect of a nightmare maybe. Don't know. Don't care. Just that it stops. These didn't. My usual tablets didn't help. Needed to get something stronger. Much stronger. Diazepam. Valium. Call it what you will. That was the only thing that did the trick. And that took a while I've got to say. Still..it worked.

Had a knock on effect with my writing thought. Most days these past two months..yeah..it really was two months...I couldn't muster up the focus to write anything very much. Something I'm working to fix and get back on with my list. Once I get my Covid jab tomorrow. Assuming that doesn't throw me for six as well. We will see.

Finally breathing some life into my Kofi account. I guess this enforced idleness caused by sudden and rapid onset of anxiety and panic attacks has been a good thing. It's kinda forced me to slow down and take a breather and work out how I want to go forward with things. One of those is my as yet untapped Kofi account. I've been struggling with a way to use it to promote my writings without falling afoul of its strict content rules. I think that my work with lots of mess, nudity and more sexual themes than you could count might just count against me. So I'm using it purely as a place to showcase my characters and sfw ideas which should give a pretty good idea of the kinda content I'm producing.

While the major focus of my Furaffinity profile isn't on a particular kink, the same can't be said of my Patreon. It's proved to be a great place to focus my love of WAM as a fetish. Not about anything particular or that I feel I've particularly been taking a lot recently. I just feel the last few years I've largely just been looking after myself and nothing beyond that. Not selfishly exactly but everything I've done the past three or four years has been for my benefit. Or for the benefit of my future maybe. All the work I've done on my commissions and Patreon page and a few other things I've got going on the side have benefitted me and me alone. Then there has been the stress of Covid as well, where I have been looking out for my family and keeping them safe. Recent events though have made me see a bigger picture, looking outwards rather than inwards. Pushed me back out to seeing a world beyond myself.

Sometimes it takes something extreme to make you step back and observe the way you have been seeing the world. And I've kinda gone through something pretty extreme these past few weeks..a month? I've lost track. Not something I've talked about openly here but I have suffered a few times in my life with severe periods of anxiety. Not just a few days but an episode lasting a week or more. And I've recently been hit by another, this time being the worst I've ever felt. I've been experiencing almost constant panic attacks from when I wake to when I go to sleep. I've bounced back now thanks to a change in my meds.

Anyway, I could run on about this for a long while but that's not why I'm writing this. I've spent enough time dwelling on these anxieties and constant dread. I'm holding onto that bigger picture. And in the spirit of the upcoming Olympics and my recent visits to the Red Cross website I'm planning to do a sponsored challenge to raise money for the Red Cross. I haven't quite worked out all the details but I'm planning something around my Kung Fu practice, maybe a sponsored form/taolu challenge. I'll follow up here when I've decided.

I'm not really sure how many furs here are still actively following my Serenity Base series. I know the first few chapters haven't exactly been the most engaging looking back at them. Makes me realise how much I was still caught up in the doubts I'd been having about the whole idea if I'm honest. Doubts that had meant that actually writing anything for it was a struggle. I was pretty much second guessing every word I wrote, this nagging little voice saying it really wasn't worth the paper it was written on. In a digital sense. But given the ideas I've been throwing down on the page since I turned my attention back to it this week, I'd say I've taken a pretty big step past all of that. Will there be sticky moments along the way, sure. That always happens no matter what I'm writing. But I'm loving these new ideas I'm coming up with. They have the fun, kinda silly atmosphere I was going for. And they've spawned a few art ideas I'm hoping to realise very soon. So keep an eye out for those. See you on the flip side.

Not so much with an aim to producing stories faster this time. My plan to make shorter chapters of my stories is working to get more regular updates posted is working. With my perhaps ambitious scheme to juggle four different stories at once (Pokegirls, Serenity Base, To Hold and my still ongoing KiGo fanfiction series), I've just realised that the way I have been cycling them means a very long gap between my fanfiction based work. So I'm going to cycle back and forth between my fanfiction work and my FA works to balance that out a little. Something like Pokegirls - KiGo - Serenity Base - KiGo - To Hold - Kigo. Then go back to the start and begin the cycle again. That seems good to me now and I'm gonna try it.

Is this two times? Three? It's hard to keep track really with all these tiers coming and going and coming back again. Can't say it's entirely unexpected really. We've been heading this way since the end of 2020. New cases rising so fast, aided by this new strain of Covid, the potential reactivation of the Nightingale Hospital in London. Something needed to be done to try and get this under control.

That's very much the gist of the Prime Minister's Speech last night. That things are going to be tough going for a little bit; that we need to all stick to these new restrictions to help battle through these next few months while the vaccine rollout continues. That's the one bit of light at the end of the tunnel, that we are now starting to vaccinate the most vulnerable and deserving of this vaccine. Which has to be a step in the right direction. Even if I'm not going to be getting mine for a while. Which quite frankly I'm not that sad about. I hate needles really, most years I actively try to avoid getting injections. This year I fear I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just do it really.

Speaking of this year, at least I can make use of this time to put a little more effort into my writing and build up both my Patreon and Kofi. The latter has taken a little while for me to dial in its focus, to find a way to add benefits without overly adding to my work load. That's something I have to be realistic about; often I come up with cool ideas that I couldn't apply the time to given the time already devoted to my novel, Commissions and Patreon work. So I've just redirected my Brainstorming posts from my Patreon to my Kofi. Look out for more of those being highlighted here.

Creating a strong heroine has been the major focus while writing my novel. Well..strong in someways but flawed in others. But I digress. This has been one hell of a year, I'm sure no one needs telling that. Covid had been a life changing event to everyone before we even take into account those that have lost loved ones to this disease. The whole absence of many things we have taken for granted on any other year has bitten many people. As somewhat of an introvert and not someone who often goes out and does things, it's not been overly hard for me. That's not to say I've not missed doing things. But I've not found it as unbearable as friends and family have. Makes me feel a bit sorry for them, since we are heading for another major lockdown in London, following the dubious honour of being the first in the newly created Tier 4. While things are starting to head in the right direction with the vaccine developments and rollouts across the world, we aren't in the clear yet. Given the need to vaccinate the vulnerable and key workers the general public won't be seeing a slot for it for a good while. Taking myself as an average youthful person, I'm not likely to see a dose until June. Which would be the birthday gift that keeps on giving. Even if one I'm not looking forward to.

Still..I hope that most of you will be able to enjoy something of a normal Christmas and get to see in someway your friends and family. Even if just via the internet or Skype or Whatapp. So Christmas Wishes and good thoughts to you all. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Been toying around with some romantic ideas for my upcoming stories on my Ko-if. Just some vague ideas at the moment but I hope they will come to something. Been a busy time recently, lots of ideas have been bouncing around in my head these past few weeks. A lot of which I hope will be making the way onto the page in the future. But for the moment I'm keeping my focus on my core stories at the moment. The main one at the moment being my Pokegirl's series. I wouldn't be surprised if many of you guys aren't aware of it. It's a niche series I know. Yet I'm getting into the swing of it. It's funny how while writing something a loose idea can just build itself up into a more focused series. And that's very much what the current chapter ís about. Whike I don't want to spoil what's coming up, this chapter contains some small yet pivotal events that will shape the upcoming chapters.

And upcoming chapters are a great tool for any writer. Just this week, I had a reminder of on of the earliest lessons I learned with writing. Plan things out, know where your story is going. A trap I fell into with a story that kinda got away from me. I just kinda let it roll instead of planning it and it spiralled into something bigger than I had intended. Which forced me to wrap it up and move on. Otherwise I'd have been writing it into next year and that didn't wrk with my plans. Still..live and learn I always say.

Seems I've hit a creative stride with my writing. Not for the actual writing side but more with coming up with new ideas. Usually a barrage of new ideas for me follows a source of inspiration like a story that really grips me or moves me. This time I've got nothing like that as a source. I just keep getting these little zings of an idea out of nowhere and just by jotting them down they flesh out into the beginnings of a full story. So while this lasts, I'm going to channel this creative spurt into my Patreon which means a lot of cool new projects will be heading its way. Which makes a great time to join my Patreon.
