Furnal Equinox 2016 Recap!
Posted 9 years agoOh man! Furnal Equinox this year was up there for one of the great ones, and I didn't even get to do everything I wanted to do!
I left the house on Thursday morning to go and pick up Phobiac and then backtrack to Toronto. About 1/2 way there I was reminded that I forgot my belt but a quick stop fixed that and we arrived at the hotel rather early. So we made a stop to the LCBO and went back. The receptionist said the room wasn't ready yet so we just went up to see where the room might be on the 5th foor.
By the time we got back, our room was ready! We unpacked and we went down to the lobby to register and I suited for a little bit, where we met up with Cake, & Ellie and eventually Sweeney. Phobiac went to her room and Ellie, Sweeney and myself went to Boston Pizza for dinner. After getting stuck in the rain, we went back to my room (with a newly aquired Ace) where we just relaxed, talked and joked around (including amazing/funny drawings by Sweeney and me with some big googly eyes). Then once we wound down, it was time for bed.
Friday we all got up nice and early, I of course went and got into suit after a nice shower in the morning and began my trek downstairs. It was amazing seeing how many people were in the line up! I walked around the con space and checked a bit of the opening ceremonies before heading my way over to the now-open dealers' den where I immediately went over to the Tentawolves booth and got commissions from O-Kemono, Soryane and Flo like I do every year I've been going to Furnal Equinox. They also had a surprise for me. They made their "Poof" shirt in a bigger size just for me! (paid the difference of course) but it's nice that they thought of me and were willing to get me one! I also picked up my Action Bubble badge from NicNak044 and picked up my t-shirt for the con.
I then rushed back to my room and loaded up my hockey bag for the panel I was co-hosting with Dan Raccoon and headed down to the room. The panel went really great! About 40 turned out and some new faces and some that were curious about it. I had grab bags for the attendees and almost ran completely out of them! After the panel, I dropped the stuff back off in my room, went down to the dealer's den and looked around outside of suit where I picked up a Camp Feral poster, a commission from Nyomi, and decided to try and get something done from a GoH Kanthara.
I went back up to my room afterwards and suited some more with my ball of yarn and got so many nice compliments! I retired my suit a few hours after and met up Kiaa who just got off school and a few of my friends for pizza in my room for dinner (which mine arrived like 1 hour later even though ordered at same time and told to same room....) After I relaxed a bit once everyone left my room and I went down to the dance, then to my friends Otty & Grees room for a bit, then to a Pup play panel because Phobiac insisted I went. I was getting tired, so I left the panel early, brushed suit (after it was hung dry/sanitized), and went to bed.
Saturday I got up early, and went down for my free breakfast at Olio and went back up to my room to get ready. I felt a lil' ill after the breakfast, but it eventually went away, and went back into my suit and saw Uncle Kage, which was a surprise to see at FE, so I got a pic with him. I then continued to walk around and picked up my badges from the Tentawolves, Nyomi and Kanthara. By this time it was getting close to the parade, so I went back up to my room and got some of the extra yarn I had and with help from Drake, I ended up covered in yarn! I had some spare time before the parade so went back to the dealers' den and artists'alley where I got lots of compliments, "awws" and many asking what I did to myself lol.
I eventually got back to get packed into a room with other suiters for the parade, but 1st was the picture. That was maybe the only downer to my con. The way they take the picture, if you're not within the 1st 15-20ish rows, you aren't seen in it. I have my ears in the picture and that's all. But the parade was amazing. So many people talking about my suit, and yarn and just a bit overwhelming with the amount of people that came to watch! After the parade was done, I relaxed a bit in the headless lounge with my Frond group before having to go back to my room to set up for a cub party! The party was pretty good, had about 25ish people show up (did it earlier) and had to finish it up at 9pm.
After the party, I cleaned up, grabbed my arm sleeves and a footpaw and went down to Artists' Alley where Sweeney was to fix 2 holes that showed up during the Zootopia meetup. After relaxing for a bit down there, I realized it was about 11:30pm and I haven't had anything to eat besides Olio in the morning. I ended up going to Tim Hortons around midnight and a friend was kind enough to buy me it (even though I was willing to pay!). After my meal, I went to the dance, and then before Ace's set, I got back in suit and danced/listened for a bit. I then went into the headless lounge for a bit and decided to call it a night. I went back to my room, sanitized my suit and brushed it where needed and went to bed.
Sunday, I slept in a little bit and came down after getting into suit around 10:30 and everything was going in full swing. I walked around some more and just took everything in again (with no yarn/yarnball!), went back up to my room, packed everything up and put it in my car, and continued to suit while Kiaa & Phobiac put their stuff in my car as well. I then spotted a Snapback in the headless lounge and she tackled me into our big hug! It was her 1st time seeing my suit, and I always love seeing Snap! I got a pic with her and let her try on my suit too.
I was getting hungry and decided to retire my suit for the day and have dinner at Montanas. Followed by the closing ceremonies and started to say my goodbyes to people and left shortly after the Dead dog dance (Phobiac had to get home). So made the ride out to drop her off and then back to Hamilton where Kiaa & I talked about the new venue/theme and experiences at the con and had a light dinner of McDonalds before heading home.
There's just too many people to bring up but there was so many people that I met at this con, and suiting really opened things up for me, I got to see the people behind the suits and just take it all in experience wise. I was so overwhelmed with happiness when so many people were telling me they loved my suit and that the yarn was a great idea (people knew me as yarn cat) lol. All the positive feedback and people wanting pics, made me just want to suit longer and even made me forget to get some meals in me! (opps!) I met too many people to name but you all know who you are! But of course these people made it extra special!

FE Panel: Babyfur Meet & Greet!
Posted 9 years agoIt's getting close to that time of year again! On Friday, March 18th at 1:30pm, dan_raccoon & I will be hosting the Babyfur Meet & Greet in the Sheraton's Collingwood Room. If you're a cub, caretaker, lil'fur, curious or just enjoy stuff like colouring, play-doh and snacks (in a cub-friendly enviroment), stop on by! Also for all the cubs, caretakers & lil's in attendance, there might be a lil' surprise for all attendees.
