Posted 13 years agoFriday the 13th, although unlucky for some, for me marked the end of a period of my life where things have been going seriously to shit. First of all something happened to me on the 1st September last year that had the potential to wreck the rest of my life entirely and then a couple of months later I ended up with a serious injury that had the potential to be fatal. The medical issue gave me 2 weeks in hospital, major abdominal surgery and the pleasure of using a colostomy bag for 4 months.
Coupling those two things together understandably left me feeling pretty despondent about life and things. Luckily I am naturally pretty upbeat about things but even so I have been feeling far from good lately.
Eventually I had the colostomy reversed, approximately 2 months later than I was led to believe it would be done but it was done about a month ago and since then that was one thing off my plate. Let me tell you that you would be surprised how much you can take farting and having a pooh for granted.
This left me with just the one thing left to gnaw away at me and leave me feeling chilled and uncomfortable on many a night. There was some small improvement in this situation just before I had my reversal surgery but still things were looking pretty bleak.
Finally friday rolled around and it was time to see what life had to throw at me. I was expecting things to go wrong but they didn't. In actuality something that could have virtually destroyed me ended up disappearing into absolute nothingness.
Now after 7 months of torment and worry I am free to focus on university and other things. Still feels hard to get everything out of my mind at them moment but over the last days I have been reflecting less on what could have happened and just being thankful for what did.

Ever had a lemur try and rob you?
Posted 14 years agoThought I would make a new journal. am currently enjoying my easter break from college. My best friend is visiting and so far has been a damn sweet time. Great weather, frequent climbing sessions, an awesome visit to the zoo. Which is where we come to the lemur incident.
We we're at the zoo and they seem to have come to this thing of letting animalxs and people be in the same enclosures. Theres a room in the tropical house with sloths sunbathing on windowsills where yo ucan stroke them and see them up close, and a room with some bats and a cheeky marsupial which bit my friend. Then we were in the lemur room and I try and get a close up photo and then the cheeky primate clamps his hand on my phone and trys to steal it out of my hand as I take the photo. A short tug of war ensued and then I was lucky enough to retrieve the phone. Will upload some photos from the zoo after my midterms in a week or so.
So the take home message from this story is never let a lemur get to close to an eletrocnic device,, as they may try and "rob" you.

Another term has started
Posted 16 years agoWell here I am. Back in Eastern Europe again for another year of college. So far is all change. I have a new apartment (no sharing with strange loud foreigners who woke me up at 6:30am virtually everyday) and I passed all of last terms exams so am now officially in the third year. After only 1 year. Yay all the hard work was worth it.
Continued hassle of exams
Posted 16 years agoWell after this week its four down and four passed. Got three next week in three days though. But this time next week i'll be at home enjoying the fresh air and big birthday BBQ.
My brain aches though. The remaining exams aren't technically that difficult in their level of content but theres just so much to go through. And most of it i've hardly even started due to studying for the previous harder exams.

Posted 16 years agoTwo exams down and two exams passed. Can't help but be bloody happy with that. Especially as they were probably the two hardest. Though is no rest for the wicked lol, as have two exams next week and then three the week after just before I fly back home to sunny England for my birthday and the summer holidays.

Exams are drawing closer
Posted 16 years agoI'm finiding it harder to sleep as exams are getting closer. Mainly the one I have on monday 25th May. If I pass that then I have the feeling the rest of the exams will go fine. I've done so so much studying for it (probably 40 hours at least just at home) but it could still kick me in the arse I know it. All I want is a basic pass. Something better would be awesome but i'm not holding my breath. If I fail it its gonna make life so difficult as I will have to do it in September without the chance for any practice (is a practical exam) between now and then. I'm finding myslef trying to psych myself up for it all the time, just trying to keep up the positivity but its not working.

Long weekend
Posted 16 years agoYay I have tomorrow off college due to it being a public hoiliday out here in Hungary. So what shall I do with my precious extra day. What indeed. Probably study. Got 2 exams next week and then its all downhill from then till when I finish for summer in June.
Back to Uni
Posted 16 years agoLast week I went away on holiday for a week. Was so good. Had an amazing time. Probably one of the best weeks of my life in some respects. Unfortunately now i'm back at college, trying to motivate myself to get some serious amounts of work done.
Am really not feeling the studying at the moment, which kinda sucks as I have so much that needs to be done.
Also on Sunday morning I got the sad news from home that Zodiac, one of my beloved water dragons had died the night before. Feels a bit shit that I hadn't got to see her since I came back to uni in January.
But anyways I just hope that things work out well for college in the remaining 2 months of this semester. If I can get through the exams I have i'm going to be so happy.

Posted 16 years agoYesterday was international day at my college. What this is students fom different countries set up stands with food and drink thats traditional for that country. Also loads of different alcohols. The day started well, with me being quite drunk in my first practical then after a short break and more drinking even more drunk in my second practical.
Then a bonfire was lit and there was alot of drinking. I remember getting steadily and steadily more drunk, talking bollocks to people and ending up being self appointed fire feeder. I left there at a time I don't remember and somehow managed the 10 minute walk home.
I wanted dinner but was in no state to make it, as I could hardly even stand. Then I was very sick. Then I passed out for 4 hours, then woke up and managed to go to bed properly. Today i've been paying the price as I still feel awful. How I got through my first lab today I have no idea.
But after all that I did realise. International day kicks ass
