I am opening for 10 commissions this month, however, I will be going about them a little differently than what I've normally done. This go-round will not be first-come-first-serve like I've done in the past, this time I will select the commissions I will take. While this is a bit experimental I'm hoping it will give some who have wanted to commission me in the past but have missed my openings a chance.

So! Here's how it's gonna work. Check out my PRICE LIST (everything that I currently offer is available for you to commission aside from fursuits) and tell me exactly what you'd like (include references) in the comments. I will then choose 10 commissions from there after 4 hours. If chosen, you will then have 24 hours to respond or I will choose a different commission.

Welp, I'm back from my weekend at Pleasant Valley Days in Scofield, and well, it could have gone better. :p Long story short; it was very unorganized and no one would respond to my emails or let me know what I was doing, so I had a spot as a vendor, but not a table, which as you can imagine made things a bit difficult. I only sold a little bit and didn't even come close to making back all that I spent on prep although I did make back what I spent on my "table".

So! I am sorely in need of work at the moment, and that means that commissions are open!

I have exciting news! Just yesterday the axolotl I bought from Buy-Axolotls.com (great name, lol) arrived!

I've had a 15 gallon tank cycling for the last eight weeks or so (it took just a day shy of seven weeks to completely cycle), and have been preparing for several months to get an axolotl, and now it's finally here!

It's a 4 and a half inch leuscistic juvenile, that I'm going to estimate at around 4 months old or so. I can't determine the sex quite yet, not until it's closer to 8 months old, but I'm thinking of calling it Axel if it's male or Azalea if it's female. :3

Hello all!

Just like the title says I will not be opening for commissions this month. This is because I am planning on being a vendor at Scofield's Pleasant Valley Days on the 30th and will be selling jewelry and other crafty things I've been keeping on the back burner for some time. What ever I don't sell at Pleasant Valley Days will be listed on a brand new Etsy of mine (coming soon). I also plan to have some new items on my current Etsy up very soon, so keep an eye out!

So, in summary, I will not be taking commissions this month. I am planning on having regular art commissions open again in July though.

Hello everyone, I have some news for you!

Just this last week I have left the aquarium for various reasons, mainly so I can try to go back to school and finally go for my bachelors in wildlife biology. The commute to the aquarium along with the long hours would not allow me to work there and go to school at the same time.

I will miss the aquarium, but in the mean time since I have lost a considerable income I will be taking commissions regularly again until I can find another job.

In which case I am now open for 10 commission slots. Just a heads up though that I will be going on vacation later this week so I will likely begin work on said commissions next month.

I haven't been very active on here in the last while, and I can't say that this journal update is a good one.

This last Saturday we had to have our cat Claire put down. She had been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism earlier in the year and her heath took a turn for the worst around the first week of December, and we spent a good portion of the month running back and forth to the vet. Ultimately on December 22 she suddenly lost most mobility in her hind legs and was in pain. The vet never said what exactly was wrong with her legs, but I suspect it was either a broken hip or another stroke (she had had a stroke about three years prior and her hyperthyroidism made her vulnerable to more) and would have constantly been on pain medication from there on out. We decided it was best to end her suffering rather than prolong it just because we couldn't bear the thought of losing her.
She was 15 years old and had lived a long and very good life, better than a lot of cats lead. I miss her terribly though. We've had since I was 9 and it's hard for me to believe that she's really gone. There isn't another cat like her in the world. I miss her so much.

And so 2017 ends with heartache and 2018 begins. I'm glad to put 2017 behind me. The year absolutely flew by and while I did have a few months of feeling pretty good I also crashed pretty hard and will admit to being rather depressed for the majority of the year. I'm sad that I didn't get to do as much art as I wanted to, or improve much at all, but I'm hoping I'll be able to do a bit more this year.

That being said, I am currently continuing to work on the last two fursuit commissions I have (I'm about 50% or so with one of them). Once those are completed I will be open again for regular art commissions.

Work, trying to move, and dealing with grief are causing a bit of a delay, however. Please bear with me! As always you can see any commission progress on my Trello, as well as updates and randomness on my Twitter.

So, apparently I'm moving this next month.

My mom has recently become engaged, (albeit suddenly, but good for her) and since I am still currently living at home with her I will be packing up and moving in these next few weeks.

This is, well, going to trip me up considerably. I cannot take any time off of my job at the aquarium up through January, and I still have two fursuit commissions to complete that I admittingly am behind on. I also fully intended to do some art for those who had tagged me in their wishlists, but whether or not I will be able to at all is very much in question.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and have no idea how I'm supposed to juggle my job, commissions, packing/moving, and Christmas thrown into the middle of all this all at the same time. I'm going to do my best, but this journal is just a heads up about what's going on and why I may suddenly become more or less inactive online for a while. Be assured that I am still working on those fursuit commissions though and will try to have the next one completed as soon as I possibly can manage. As always you can see my progress on any of my commissions on my Trello, and I also do occasionally post WIPS and updates to my Twitter.

First off I apologize for how long it's taking me to work on the fursuit commissions I owe. I did not expect that my job at the aquarium would eat up so much of my time, but between the unpredictable schedules and working late night events I'm afraid that I haven't gotten much done fursuit-wise.

Currently though I have two of the three fursuit heads left casted. One is cut and waiting to be hinged while the other just needs a couple more coats of resin before I begin cutting. I have recently asked to no longer work Sundays at the aquarium and this should help free up my time a little. The fursuits will be finished, it just might take a little longer than expected.

Sadly I have had to remove badges from my commission list. It has become too difficult for me to mail them out in a timely manner. Mainly, this is due in part because I get very few days off from my part-time job now; and a large contributing factor is that I just don't drive.

I may possibly take commissions for solely the digital versions of badges (where you would receive the image alone and print/laminate it yourself). But until I can work my schedule better and find a way to the post office during the day I will no longer be accepting badges as commissions.

I'm sure you've all noticed by now that I haven't been very active these last few weeks. This is due mainly in part by my new job. I have been working about 36 hours a week and that does not include the 2 to 4 hours in travel time spent taking the train/bus. *dies*

I am currently working on commissions during the days I have off but this is just a heads up that art commissions will be a little slow, but I am working on them.

As far as fursuit commissions go I have had to put progress on them on hold until after BLFC. They should still be completed sometime in the summer as promised though. I am currently working on casting heads and just got some more resin in.

I just got the call confirming that I have been hired at the Living Planet Aquarium and will be working as a presenter! I can't even begin to describe how happy I am!

Working at the aquarium has been a dream job of mine for a while now, and now I finally get to do it! Not only will I be able to learn more and get that much closer to working my way up to become a wildlife biologist, but I'll get to teach others as well. And lets not forget the handling animals part of the job! :D

I'll be putting in my two weeks notice at my janitor job and will soon be kissing it goodbye. Hopefully working at the aquarium will mean that I don't get home feeling ridiculously exhausted and I'll actually feel like I can start taking commissions again, which is good news for any of you who are waiting for them to open.

This will be a major change, but I think it will be for the best. I'm finally going to start moving forward with my life and doing something I'm passionate about.

Hello, hello! Here's just a little update on what's been going on in my life and the like.

I got a part time job as a custodian at a nearby middle school two months ago, which I'm very grateful to have; but it has not been a very ideal job for me as it as been putting a dent in my free time to work on personal art and to be able to work on commissions as well as wearing me down and doing a number on me physically. The fact of the matter is I'm just too darn small to be super efficient at cleaning a middle school without hurting myself in some way on a daily basis. :( So there's that.

I did apply at the Living Planet Aquarium a week ago and my initial over-the-phone interview went very well, so I will be going in for a second interview/presentation this coming Tuesday. It's looking very likely that I will get the job! :D This will mean that I will could be getting better paycheck and will be working more towards what I actually want to do with my life, and that is working with animals. I also intend to go back to school this fall semester and finally finish my bachelors in biology. We'll see how it all goes, but I finally feel like I will be moving forward at last.

On some somewhat unpleasant notes I am in the process of filing for a divorce (should have it finalized in a few more weeks, dang 90 day waiting period). So yes, I am separated and am no longer with Dart as of last September. The reasons are personal, and I'd rather not discuss them, but I do feel remarkably better than I did a year ago and am very anxious to have it all put behind me. I am also seeing a therapist to deal with the whole divorce thing and to finally work through some other nasty things I've been carrying with me for a very long time now. It's going very, very well and I am making excellent progress, and feeling much better as a result. :)

On a higher note, I intend to finally fix my Buttercup fursuit real soon here and aim to have it all nice and finished for BLFC, which will likely be the very last fur con I go to. Watch for that, and if you're going to BLFC feel free to say hi!

"But Wind! When will you open commissions again?!" I hear you ask.
Not to worry. I'd like to have them open again (just a few limited slots) in the next little while. Thanks to my janitor job I have very limited time to take art commissions, and I am also working on the fursuit commissions I already have as well. Exactly when I'll be able to take art commissions again is a little uncertain, but hopefully it won't be too much longer. I will let you all know as soon as they are open again.

TLDR version:

Obligitory end-of-the-year journal is obligitory. Anywhos, this year has been terrible, just terrible. And no, I'm not referring to the election. But personally for me it really has been perhaps the worst year of my life, comparable to 2008 when my parents divorced, for personal reasons.

None the less there have been some good things to come out of this year, this isn't going to be an entirely negative journal!

I have been absolutely floored by those who have supported me and commissioned me. I really cannot express how much that means to me and how greatful I am to all of you. That people like my little arting endeavors enough to want to pay for them just really makes my heart swell and ecourages me to keep on trying to improve and better myself.

I also have some truly wonderful friends who have taken the time out of their lives to listen to me as I needed to vent or done things with me so that I felt included. fireicewolf and tsebresos, you truly are the best of friends and I love you both. :hug: And the same goes for all of my friends. You're really all the best and I don't know what I would have done without you.

So even though this has been a really bad year for me, and for countless others as well, it always feels a little better to look at the good things that did happen. Even the littlest things can really make the biggest differeces. I think that as we head into the new year we should all try to make it a good one. Just try to be a little kinder to everyone and remember that 2016 was hard on everyone too.

And so, I give 2016 a big middle finger salute, and here's to a better 2017!

So finally I was able to get a job (you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find work when you're unable to work any retail), and I am super relieved! It's just a temporary custodial job so I can get my feet under me, but it'll be a huge load off of my mind to have a more steadily paying job.

Now, it will affect my commissions though. I'll still be taking them, but the amount and the frequency will be more limited; which is good for me because I am getting terribly burned out. :p In the meantime it'll be business as usual.
