The Hobbit 3D High Frame Rate.
Posted 13 years agoAs the title says I went and saw the 48 FPS 3D version of "The Hobbit" late last night. Let me first start by saying what a complete waste of time to drive out to see it in this hyped up frame rate. The entire movie felt like it was stuck in fast forward. Rushing water and fire looked incredibly fake and character movements were unnatural. Movements that should have been in slow motion, such as seen in the trailer of Bilbo pulling a sword out of a sheath, were instead normal speed and completely ruined the moment of awe that was placed in front of the viewer.
Scenes that were already going fast, looked completely ridiculous, such a scene with someone being chased through a forested area, were almost comical at best. Scenes where they are running and jumping over fences, look as if they required little to no effort to make it over said obstacle.
The only saving grace for the High Frame Rate was that scenery was beautiful, it felt as if I were looking through a window directly onto the set of the movie, felt as if I were actually there, but this could be due to the 3D effect and not necessarily the FPS. Will have to check regular frame rate at an IMAX to see if it looks any different. I know the FPS compares different to the 2D regular FPS as I have gone in on several of my breaks and watched it.
Have to say wish I had watched it in just a normal frame rate.
Overall the movie was pretty good. It left me less confused about what exactly the ring was and how Fellowship got started. I'm going to go give the LOTR's movies a second chance of watching, since I could barely watch them the first time around. In fact I have never seen the entire thing of Fellowship, Never seen two towers, the only one I have seen is Return of the King and don't remember much about it.

Sad Day, (First world, Zoids problems)
Posted 13 years agoI am sad to say my Shadow Fox, my most favorite Zoid has fallen from it's display and the cannon on his back snapped off. Thankfully that is the only major damage and should be easily fixed. or so I hope. If anyone can recommend any good glues for plastic. Let me know, need to get my Zoid repaired and battle ready again.

Fursuit Shenanigans
Posted 13 years agoYesterday had to have been the most awesome fursuit outing in my short time of fursuiting. Started the day off at 16'th Street Mall in Denver with
spinningpeanut and
Morely as well as a handler that brought his 2 great danes with him. I didn't have to pay for parking, which was a great plus, as we arrived 2 other guys were leaving and offered us their parking pass which was good till 7:30 that night, I only wish I could have passed it on to someone else as we left. It is nice to know that people are still decent and kind.
We decided to have a contest to see who could get more attention, us fursuiters or the great dane puppy/massive great dane. Needless to say, the great danes won.
But all hope was not lost, we still had a great time and made a lot of children smile. Me especially while playing peekaboo with one little boy who at first refused to smile, but I got him too, which made us receive candy from the Mother. Another little girl was so fascinated with our suits as they left the mother told us that we made her little girls day. Made me feel good that I could bring joy to these kids.
While we were out we also stopped at the local Chipotle and got ourselves some $2 burritos for having dressed up. I honestly think we should have gotten free burritos for being so awesome.
After that our day of suiting was not even close to done. We headed on up to Boulder for some more action. Arriving about an hour early, we made our way to find a Walmart to chill at, but of course Boulder has something against Walmart and does not allow them within city limits, My GPS being 10 years old and having an non updated map, lead us to where a Walmart used to be.....We eventually found a Target and wandered around for the next hour in partial suits. Apparently another furry saw us and tweeted "Furries at Target!"
Once we got to where we were going in Boulder, we were instantly surrounded by dozens of people that were amazed with our "costumes" and spent the next 2 hours basically standing in one place getting pictures with people and their kids. Through the entire night I only heard a couple negative comments from people, the usual "Yiff in Hell" kinda stuff, someone got glitter dumped on them, believe it was Fritz Fox (Sorry if that's spelled wrong) But that had to be a BITCH to get out of his fur.
Other random happenings included Cruella Da Ville coming up to me and telling me she was going to turn me into a coat and a guy walking a Border Collie that didn't react to any of the other suits except mine. As soon as that dog saw me, it was like "Ermahgerd Border Collie, Must Play!"
Overall it was a freaking awesome night and I can't wait for next year to do it again.

Moving out!
Posted 13 years agoI am officially moving out of my grandparents house on October 3rd and into an apartment that is right across the street from where I work and could not be more excited, but at the same time I feel weird and conflicted about doing it. My grandparents are going to help me out with the rent each month, I'll be making half the payment.
I will be paying $400 per month...well a bit more since I have a cat(s) and as far as they are concerned I only have a cat(s). *4 cats cough cough* but they all get a long and are non destructive unless it's my furniture. But they will now have room to run around and exercise, because quite frankly one of them is getting WIDE.
I think this move will be really good for me, not only to get out on my own, but to actually get out of the house and do stuff, have friends over and just in general be more social, than spending my time locked away.
Now I need to get furniture for my place, all I really have is a bed.

Buying my first car!
Posted 13 years agoSo I have been thinking for awhile now of buying my own car, I currently drive my mom's old 99' Honda CRV and it's a great little car, but I want something I can officially say is mine. I have been given the okay to trade in the Honda for what ever I can get for it, about 4-5k and then use that to help put a down payment on something.
I have already gone out once and ended up test driving a KIA Optima and loved it. Not even what I was originally there to look at, but those salesmen are very persuasive and I am just too nice to say "no"
I am this tuesday going to a few dealerships and looking again with my dad. Everyone keeps telling me to buy used, but really don't want to. Something about it just bothers me. A couple of the cars I am looking into are either a KIA Soul, KIA Optima, Honda Civic, Ford Focus, all of which I could afford payments on. One of the dealerships near me had a Soul that was a 2011, 59k miles for 11,000. Had a lot of great additions to it, but I don't know quite yet, that used issues I have comes up. I just don't trust something as important as a car to buy it used.
My only concern is insurance, I already know that buying new compared to buying used, my insurance is going to be outrageous. But will ultimately have to talk to my insurance agency to find out.
Anyone have any advice they could give me? or any opinions on a car that is 20k and under?

FC room share
Posted 13 years agoI am typing this on my phone so its going to be short. I am thinking of booking a room for FC this year and want to see if anyone i know wants to room with me. The 17th through the 21st maybe the 22nd. It would be in the secondary hotel. Through the 21st its a little over $600 or about $150 each give or take. And would be about 180 for the 22nd.
Pre reg done!
Posted 13 years agoAs the title says. I just got done pre registering for RMFC 2013. I believe according to the site, it looked like I was #13 to register, but am not sure, may have been looking at it wrong. Knowing me, I was.
I still need to go register for FC but may wait a few more weeks. Sadly I will also probably not be making it to AC again this year. The one con I want to attend super freaking bad, falls on Fourth of July Weekend!!! Which means that I will be working that weekend. Still looking for a new job that allows me weekends off. If not completely, just a bit easier to get off.
RF is coming soon and I need to talk to the guy I know going so he can grab me a T-shirt.

Last Say of RMFC : (
Posted 13 years agoToday be the last day of RMFC and I am already starting to get post con depression. I am going to try to make the most of today, fursuit non stop and do the fursuit games again.
I'm a little upset that the fursuit games today are the same time as the voice auctions for the charity as there is some artwork I was bidding on that I want but am sure it will go well over $100 it stopped at the $60 mark. But since it's for charity I don't feel as bad spending the money. I have 2 hours to decide what I'm going to do.
Other than that had I had a FREAKING blast at the con of course. Got tricked into going into the fursuit dance competition with the promise of a fursuit tag. I got the tag, but so did any suiter that was not in the competition, so I ended up making a fool of myself since I can't dance worth beans. It was fun anyway, but will never ever do it again.

I HATE WAITING!
Posted 13 years agoThat being said, I am currently awaiting the arrival of my feetpaws from Madefuryou. No idea what carrier they use to ship, but according to the last email I got from them on the 11th, they would ship next day. They are located in Arizona and I am in Colorado, minus the 12th and that following sunday, it has had 4 days to travel. USPS has already come and gone and saw a UPS truck on the other end of the neighborhood, with no clue of which side he started on.
I am always so paranoid about my packages getting lost in the mail, especially something as important as this.
I did send an email to madefuryou, yesterday morning asking if they had a tracking number with it. Still awaiting a response. For now I'm gona go watch something off netflix and hope tomorrow there is signs of them showing up.
RMFC is just around the corner and I don't wana be feetpawless again : (

Posted 13 years agoColorado has been hitting record high temps and I am surrounded on all sides by wildfires. I am sucking at finding a new job because I am so picky about what I want... Looking into several possibilities including an Armored car driver/guard, Mall security, Sprint tech, and yadda yadda. I want a job where I don't have to stand at a register all day long and deal with indecisive people, that then get pissy because YOU don't move fast enough.
I would be happy with a desk job with a cubicle, entering data all day long, but for the life of me cannot find that job besides working for sprint.
Want to know how ready I am for a vacation? I am already packed for RMFC besides the little items (toiletries and what nots)
Have also decided I am going to order a Phase changing cooling vest, so I don't die in suit. My only problem is not sure where to order from. Each site has its own pros and cons.
Site A: Most expensive, but is a concealable vest, which would be best under fursuit, but also there is no sizing option, so may end up being bulky anyway.
http://www.coolvest.com/RPCM_Coolin.....Cool_Vest.aspx
Site B: Same price as above, but can order smaller ice packs, reducing cost, allowing me to afford a spare set. (may have to swap them out sooner, which could be a pain.
http://www.polarproducts.com/polarshop/pc/home.asp
Site C: Cheapest vest, but might create condensation which equals No Bueno in suit.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/30072200780.....84.m1423.l2649
So really I am at a loss of which to buy, When the place is open tomorrow for option B, I will ask them how long the small packs last. Then call option A for sizing info.
If anyone has experience with cooling vests let me know your opinion (even if you don't have experience give your 2 cents)

Off to FC!!!
Posted 14 years agoSitting here at DIA my flight is about an hour and 40 minutes away and I could not be more excited. I did not think it would happen, but it did! My fursuit is complete! except for the feet. Got it finished yesterday about noon after being up all night long working on it. It is a tad big in some places, but overall very well done. The tail hangs out a little bit so you can see the elastic strap, not too worried about it, will sew it in at a later date.
The only trouble we had putting the suit together, was the damn zipper. Without a zipper foot on the machine, we could not get it on. So after 3 tries of ripping out seams, we took it to a tailor and had it professionally installed for $20. But even they did it wrong the first time, it was not hidden like it should have been.
I put rubber soles onto the bottom of my happy feet slippers so I can wear them outdoors, using gorilla glue to keep them on until I can think of something better or get what leftover fur I have left sent out to someone who can make me some feet.
The amount of fur I had left was staggering, I bought way to much and still have maybe about 3 1/2 yards left of each color.
But through all the bumps and hitches, it got done and I could not be happier with it.

FC is near
Posted 14 years agowith FC drawing ever closer my excitment is growing. but i am worried my fursuit may not get completed in time. as i cannot sew i have my awesome mom who has agreed to help, but seeing as she is in Chicago, and is not sure when she can return i am left hoping my procrastination wont cost me.
on a side note, my laptop crashed. had a virus called xp home security 2012. disguised itself as a spyware scanner...my desktop needs a new mouse and i am typing this on my wii. its tedious and slow...but it works.

Registered for FC
Posted 14 years agoExcited, just sent in my payment for Further Confusion. Now time to find a roommate and see if I can get a cheap flight. May see if I can get flight benefits through my brother or mom and fly out for free, but that would require flying standby and risk not getting out there on time. Should I risk it?
On a side note, my suit should be complete by the end of November or sooner, I just ordered the fur I need to make the body of my suit and I will have enough left over for feetpaws. If anyone knows a good maker of feetpaws that can use fur I provide, let me know.
On a final note, Going to my friends birthday party in a few hours, but I need to get him a gift. Not sure what to get I am bad at buying stuff for people. Would it be wrong to be a cheap ass and give him a movie poster that I got for free? I mean after all I have never received a gift from said person...
Oh and a final final note, My printer broke, but not before I was able to get my badge printed, it is now laminated and ready for wear.
Last thing I promise, at the theatre we recently hired 6 new people. I swear that one of them, his name is Morgann, was at Rainfurrest. When he walked in, I was like you look so freaking familiar. But I have no clue and am not going to ask. I just thought it was really weird. Guess one day I can wear my Rainfurrest t-shirt, see if he says anything.
