Am Back, Ready To Do More and Make Some Changes
Posted a week agoSorry for the silence, everyone. A big thank you to everyone who has stuck around and kept seeing and faving my work.
For a while, I’ve been in a rut. My work didn’t get a lot of engagement outside of here, especially on the bird site. But that place is now a hole and I’m pretty sure I’m shadowbanned on there (that might explain the lack of engagement, ha!)
More importantly, I’ve felt my progression as an artist has plateaued and to get better feels overwhelming. That is, until I realized that my standards of good, my perfectionism is what has been holding me back. This goes for both art and my other passion, writing. I love to do both but what gets in the way is this fear that what I create will never been good enough. That I’ll never been good enough. It’s so tiring. So some changes needed to be made.
For the time being, I’m stepping away from commissions. Please understand, I do love to draw commission work. I love working together and collaborating with other people. I always feel honored when someone comes to me, chooses me, to help bring their creative vision to life. But there is just not enough time in the day to draw commissions, draw personal stuff, and do art studies along with working a full-time job and trying to fit in other creative pursuits let alone chores and errands that have to get done. A shift in priority has to be made.
That doesn’t mean I’m out of the commission game for good. I’ll occasionally take on commissions - one or two, or in batches. But my main objective from here on is to realize the personal pieces and projects that have been on the back burner for years on end. A lot of this has to do with my own time management. I hate how long it takes me to finish a piece, usually months and months at a time. It also has to do with there being just not enough time in the day to do everything. A problem I’m sure we all encounter.
This also means a change in my own personal standards. I’m tired of shooting for perfectionism, that awful specter. With stiff poses. Lines with uniform weight and opacity. Of meticulous detailing down to the pixel level. I want to be done with that.
I want to draw things with flow and feeling. I want to make messy art. I want to draw silly little comics. I want to do more fan art (which I feel like has been majorly absent from my body of work). I want to draw holiday art. I want to learn more about my craft and draw studies. Want to draw the ideas that get me excited in the moment. In my soul, I want to draw MORE!
So expect to hear more, see more from me. I hope to post more not just on here, but also elsewhere, like on my Patreon, Subscribestar, and Bluesky.

Need help regarding a small issue with Paint Tool Sai
Posted 10 years agoAlright, I've recently just transferred over to a new computer and everything. I do everything on Paint Tool Sai and I noticed at times the cursor in the program will become choppy. I don't mean it lags, but it's as if the motion of the cursor is losing FPS, making it look choppy when it moves. I noticed this only really happens when I have Youtube videos playing when I'm drawing. I'm not sure why this happens or even how to remedy it. I know it's a little thing, but for some reason it irks me. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciate. Much love and luck to all of you.

Posted 10 years agoThe last three chapters of Her Mantle Upon Your Shoulders have been read and the story can now move forward. Notes were taken along the way to make sure I can go back and review certain facts. Honestly, going back and reading those chapters did a great amount of good I think. My memory is refreshed, I could see where some mistakes were made and how I can avoid them next time, and it showed me certain areas where my writing can be improved on.
I still have a temptation to go back and fix some of the mistakes I've made along the way in previous chapters, but that would be forsaking the present for the past. Time to look forward and move on. I ain't some George Lucas re-editing the original trilogy ever few years and making it worse and worse, little by little. No, better to move on to the next chapter which I currently have in a rough draft. I'll most likely be revamping the entire thing, polishing here and there so I can get a better chapter out to you readers. Many thanks to all of you that come and give my stories a read. You all make the work worth it.
Other news I have is that I have a whole BRAND NEW COMPUTER TOWER! CUSTOM-MADE! All thanks to the help of
rakakuza (whom looked into the computer parts and made some builds for me to pick from) and my brother (whom pretty much did all the work, building it and installing the OS.) I pretty much did the easy stuff: buying the parts. My thanks goes out to both of them. Much love and luck to both of those guys for their immense help. I can't thank them enough!
If I'm not distracted by the games I'll be playing on this NEW COMPUTER, then I hope to get back on track with art. I'm currently working on a gift for someone that I meant to draw them for Christmas. I've got some new ideas floating around so stand-by for those and some other things incoming. I hope you guys and gals like 'em.
Other than that, all I've been doing is working at my job and enjoying some reading. Speaking of which, I would really like to recommend an author that has inspired me greatly over the years even to the point I wanted to write my own stories because of their stories: Greg Howell.
I'm currently reading Lies in Red Leaves, the third book in their 'the Life of Riley' series and I'm in love with it. Deeply in love with it. It centers around Michael Riley who is teleported to an alternate Earth where instead of humans, a bipedal race of intelligent felids have risen to be the dominant species of the planet: the Rris. Really, give it a try, the first book in the series being Light on Shattered Water and then Storms Over Open Fields. It is without a doubt my favorite book series and maybe even consider buying the first book on Kindle if you're feeling like it.

A Winter Update (Watch out, it's a bit cold.)
Posted 11 years agoProcrastination. So much procrastination. I could say that I've just been tired or unmotivated, but that would just been neglecting my problems and refusing to get things done. No, better to realize that I could have used my free time better than letting it slip through my fingers.
So how is everyone? I hope ya'll are doing well and keeping warm. Or at least keeping yourselves at a comfortable temperature.
Right now, things are good. Pretty good especially since I have a job and my bank account is slowly but surely filling up like a plump pig. Still have a ways to go especially since I have certain plans on the horizon: Moving out, mainly.
Today, I realized that I waited WAAAAAAAY too long to get the next chapters of the Vilous story done. Six months since the last one? Jess, what a fucking blunder. And in my absentmindedness, I've forgotten some key pieces of character interaction and dialogue. To get my bearings back I've decided to go back and read the previous three chapters. I hope this will get me back on track and refresh my memory, all in hopes to reduce mistakes in the future.
I know it might seem like I'm making a big deal out of this, but I never want to disappoint those that read my stories. I appreciate every one of you that take time out of your day to give my stories a read. I can't describe my appreciation for you and your support. I deeply apologize for my slow-ass writing process and my procrastination. You guys make all the work worth it in the end. Many thanks to all of you that read. :)

Internet outage
Posted 11 years agoFor those that have noticed, I have pretty absent for the past few days. That's mostly due to AT&T and their absolutely terrible service. For the past seven days my family has been without internet because AT&T ripped out some wires and replaced them. Since then we have had no service. It has been he'll dealing with them.
Right now, we still don't have internet service and I'm typing this all up on a kindle in McDonald's. When I left home a few minutes ago, there was an AT&T serviceman at our house. What good that will do I don't know. Either way, if any of you have any advice or a phone number I can contact a head supervisor or a manager, I would surely appreciate it.
I'm so sorry for those I have kept waiting on commissions and those that have wonder about my absence. I hope to be back soon but I don't know when because no one is helping us. Much love and luck to you all. I'll come back later and respond to anyone and hope no one has hacked my account from McDonald's WiFi.
UPDATE: AND WE'RE BACK! OH GOD, THANK YOU, WE'RE BACK! NO I AM NOT REFERENCING THE MOVIE, BUT EITHER WAY WE ARE BACK!
And all thanks to like the seventh AT&T worker that had been here for like 8 hours, trying to untangle this mess that someone else made. I hope he gets a promotion. No! Twelve promotions! Really, he did great, he accomplished what all the other techs couldn't and while those before him probably did their best to help remedy the situation, this guy today actually arrived early in the morning and stayed until the job was done. Much love and luck to him and to everyone else.

It's fall, so here's another update!
Posted 12 years agoSo vacation time is over, but right now I'm currently in an unemployed slump. I'm exercising less when I could be staying healthy, waking up late, and I've been pretty much putting off certain things I need to get done. I currently going through a cold, but it isn't that bad. For those who care, it's nothing really big, but I need to get things back on track, especially the next chapter.
The next chapter is all written up and I've already read through it once. It just needs one more read through and I can post it, but it's a good 37 pages to go through and tweak. I know it's been more than 3 months and I feel very bad making you readers wait like this. There's no excuse really, I'm just being lazy. I hope you'll all forgive me. =.=
I hope ya'll are doing well. Fall is here as you must already know. Cooler weather coming in and soon it will be winter. So excited. It will be so cold, so quiet, so gray and dead. So metal. But really, can't wait for the winter. Again, I hope you are all doing well, enjoying yourselves and making it through each day. Much love and luck to you all and make yourselves a treat. You deserve it.

Posted 12 years agoHello, guys and gals! How are ya'll? I hope you are all doing well. For myself, I'm doing pretty good. Currently on vacation with rakakuza and 
burnedout , far from home, but nevertheless enjoying each day.
For those that care, chapter 14 is currently under development and I believe I'm halfway through with the first draft. It's going well, but it's been very slow going and I don't want to leave you guys hanging for too long especially with last chapter's ending.
I know it was pretty abrupt so I've got this idea of giving hints of what happened behind the scenes of the previous chapter. Not like how I wrote it, but what was happening behind Akuna's back, what was happening in Wevren, and what is currently happening outside of the city. These little writings and pictures will hint at what is to happen next chapter, so I hope it will be a nice, little treat for those that are interested at what is coming up in the near future! :D
Other than that, I've also been trying some new things with art and they've mostly been successful! Using new brushes, watching videos and streams of way better artists to see how they do things, and just overall been using different methods to see how they sort out. Learned some great lessons too on more of Paint Tool Sai's features.

Here comes spring warmth and another chapter update
Posted 12 years agoHello, everyone! How are you all? I hope all is well and dandy and magnificent!
Spring is nearly upon us and with it, comes it's warmth, heat, and, in effect, sweat. Stay cool and hydrated, but that's more of a warning in summer. :P
Anyway, I have to confess I've been too lazy, more lazy than usual! Haven't been exercising, eating right, or looking for a new job like I should. But I've been picking things up and regaining my usual pace with a whole list of activities to do. And one of those is getting the next chapter done and posted.
I really need to explain myself here, but first, as usual, I want to apologize for my lateness. Yes, I was lazy, but I never thought Chapter 12 would be this loooooooooooong! It's about 38 pages worth of Rupland limping and Akuna grunting and growling. At this moment, I believe once it's finished it will be about 50 pages or so.
I had wanted Chapter 12 to introduce a great turning point for our characters, but that's all I can say right now without giving too much away. But now that I realize 50 pages is too much for one chapter, I think I will cut up the pages for Chapters 12, 13, and 14 so the wall of text won't be too overwhelming, with a week inbetween each. What is Akuna, Rupland, and Brunka up to? What new revelations will be come about? What? Who? Where?! More will be told once the chapters are done! :D
Anyway, thank you all for listening to me rambling on and make excuses for myself. -.- I wish you all much luck and love in all your endeavors. Posted 13 years agoHey, gentlemen and ladies! How are you all? How is the weather? Is your winds full of the breeze of the imminent autumn? Or is it still bursting with the humidity of summer? Where I live there is only the latter, but fall is hopefully coming to bring winter with it too.
So, I have much apologies to all of you that have been waiting for the latest chapter of HMUYS. I basically have the entire chapter already written out but I still need to give the usual rereads and editing. After that, it will be up and posted and ready to enjoy! Again, much apologies for making you wait.
And there isn't much other news. Been drawing a bit and enjoying it while hoping I improve with each sketch. Hoping to find work elsewhere. Staying grateful of the little things in life and taking each day one at a time.
