Transformation
Posted 4 years agoAs those of you who follow me doubtlessly already know, my husband has passed on following a bout of Covid induced pneumonia that he was unable to recover from. I'm not going to dwell on this right now but I do want to clarify something. This means I will no longer be able to present myself as I have been. My entire identity as a furry, specifically as my sona, has revolved around my growing relationship with him. I think it would be a great injustice to his memory not to recognize that.
So I am caught in a place where I cannot abide to make my sona no longer with him and yet I am verily living in that reality. A new identity will have to be made so I will no longer be the fox you may know me as. I won't bore the full details on that here either as I will eventually get art and perhaps inundate you with my new self in the near-ish future. As long as you know it is coming I think all is well.
Meanwhile, my thanks for everyone who has given Conner your support over the course of his blessed, shining life as well as those who have supported me in these troubling times that have followed. Let us all get some rest.

Posted 7 years agoSo taxes decided to kill me this year and after months I'm finally somewhere approaching stable again. Blugh.
Anyway, this means that I can start commissioning again! Which also means it was time to catch up on uploads from... ages ago...
But I hope y'all enjoy what I'm getting. Have fun everybody.

Updating
Posted 8 years agoAll right, so I've moved a lot of my stories to my scraps because, frankly, I'm not happy with them or with their inherently unfinished nature. I've been told by some folks they actually like them though so I won't just toss them out.
Erstwhile, I have considered taking on commissions but I just don't have the kind of focus to do it. I haven't been able to sit down and actually finish a story, or even part of a story in ages, as you can probably guess from a lack of writing uploads. What I AM going to try doing is crank into a writing project that isn't just a short blurb to try and practice focusing my time outside of work. So I maaay have something of my own to contribute sometime soon-ish.
And as always, I'm trying to commission fun, tasteful, or even tasteless art of my characters. I've got a big commission I've been holding out on for a while but the artist has been in a bit of a tough spot so my piece has had to take a backseat since it's cumbersome and very labor-intensive. It happens. Meantime I've just finished paying off a big first portion of my college debts and the laptop I got to replace my old one back in April when it crashed. (Jeez, was it really only that long ago?) So aside from my upcoming vacation in December I'm looking to get some more art from a few of the artists I really appreciate here and y'all can look forward to that.
Best wishes.
K. Winters
p.s. Holy cow! There's one hundred and forty of y'all watching me? I'm honored.

Laptop Dead.
Posted 8 years agoBlackscreened and such last night. Looks like it may be hard-drive failure. Still under warrantee so it won't cost anything but it could be a few weeks until I get it back and working again.
Dammit.

UPDATE
So laptop is back. Yay.
I have to redownload everything and reacquire any art I hadn't already moved to my flash drive. Boo.

Artist Promotion
Posted 8 years agoI've been looking for something to post here as I've been quiet lately and TwistedTeeth gave me an excuse. For those of you who don't know already TwistedTeeth is a really nice and friendly artist that you should go check out immediately if you haven't already.
In fact, you should hurry as he's hosting a raffle right about now, that you can go join in for a chance for free art of high caliber. Now I know, most of his gallery looks tame but if you talk to him you may find him a lot more adventurous than you'd expect! (i.e. He's usually up to draw some kinky stuff and he does softies really well.)
Here's a link to his profile: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/twistedteeth/
And one directly to the raffle: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7955680/

Furafinity-Furrynetwork.
Just as a notice that during a significant downage anyone can find me also lurking about on my Furrynetworkpage. https://beta.furrynetwork.com/fauxesune/
I haven't started posting the commissions I have received there but I'm sure I will at some point. I honestly like FN a little better but it's still underpopulated and for a variety of reasons I will still be maintaining my presence here for the foreseeable future.
Have a good day everyone and please don't be a dick about the downtime.

Have a question?
Posted 10 years agoAnd by season I mean the end of this semester in college!
I'm afraid I'm not as successful there as I'd like but all things end one way or another.
In light of just finishing a big project I'm putting this journal up until I can get back to having fun for a while!
If you want just submit a question to this journal to any of my characters or myself! Here's a quick list of some of the biggest names in case you can't remember them!
Myself: mun, or human, or however you wish to address the man behind the curtain
K. Winters: fursona, kitsune frequently masquerading as a regular fox.
Vahn Hearst: wolf, big bad. (Now quite corpulent though he was not always).
Nero: devourer. looks a bit like a furred (not scaled) eastern dragon.
Bael: white tiger. bit of a gentle giant. Do not prod.
Kale: hyena. Utter bastard.
Port: Not a fish! (but definitely fish-like.) Shy, cautious.
Let's keep it to them for now, shall we? Please. Ask away!

Writing
Posted 10 years agoFor those of you who follow me and are not already aware, though I have been inactive in making my own stories for this page I have written a few tidbits that you can find if you visit rockytheprocy over on his FA page!
I did a quick blurb to accompany his commission from zandenel which is entitled Words of Encouragment (although only on the second entry and not the first!).
The first installment of that series (still ongoing!) can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18299785
Of course, many of you already know that I indulged in writing Raising Z-Kitty (already complete!) which you may find the beginning of here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17293845
It may start a little slow but I think the ending certainly pays off!

Undertale
Posted 10 years agoSo yeah. I did the thing. I finished two playthroughs and I can't bring myself to reset now that I have the "true" ending. There's a lot of secret or obscure content that I didn't experience myself... but that's okay. We don't need to have everything. Sometimes it's good to just be happy with what you have rather than cause everyone pain. That may not be the message the creator intended to send but it's the one I'm taking away. So I won't be running it again. At least not for a long time. After all! I have my own life to live and friends to make and keep too!

Posted 10 years agoHello to all my followers,
I'm rather happy to see a much larger list now than I ever expected including a number of people in the community I respect. While I don't put out too much content I hope you enjoy all of it.
Speaking of content for those of you who do not know FA user and writer Mickeybamboo has begun doing a podcast of interviews with artists and is now doing a special project with volkenfox
You can find the information concerning his most recent project on his page here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/180.....#cid:101763195
You can also find his first interview for Panda Pause, his interview podcast, here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17671725/
For those of you who know me personally i'll admit I'm a little biased into enjoying that particular interview but it's a fun series that I have continued to follow. Please go check out this very talented writer!

New Watches!
Posted 10 years agoWow. It's amazing.
I got myself a pocket watch while at gencon and I couldnt' be more pleased with it.
In all seriousness I've had a huge influx of watchers recently. I presume because you guys have been seeing a bit of my work through rockytheprocy and decided to stop on by.
Thanks for that folks. I'm not one for jumping on everyone's wall and leaving a copy-pasted message so you guys will have to live with this blanket thank you.
That said! Please let me know what you guys are enjoying- and please use words! I appreciate favorites but comments are the most useful. Criticisms, praise, what have you! As long as you're courteous I'm happy to hear it all.
The Breeding story sequence is, obviously, on hold for now. I'm just not liking it each time I approach it so it may die, it may ressurect like the glorious phoenix. Who knows?
In the meantime I'm still working on my collab with rockytheprocy for several more installments so head on over to him for the updates! I'm also waiting on the final works in a commission sequence from aokmaidu so look forward to seeing that.
My dear friend ConnerCoon also suggested I try taking writing commissions so I'm considering the matter. Feel free to give me your thoughts!

Recent Series
Posted 10 years agoAll right. SO. I'm behind where I had thought I might be at this point in my most recent series. Granted, I have excuses but I don't like leaning on those.
I realized that I haven't properly explained what the real goals are for winning the race because its more than just reach the finish line first. Getting across the line quickly is really just the secondary objective. More on that, hopefully, in the story once I get to it.
It's also been suggested to me by a few people now that I should build up a bit more imagery and add more details. We'll.... see how that goes. I'll certainly keep that in mind but I'm a huge fan of keeping the story moving along and tending to precise detailing second. I don't like running out of adjectives and alternate nouns to describe people and things, after all. I'm also an avid novel reader and enjoy the style of giving details of a person over time instead of stopping a story to give a blunt text wall of them. I realize that might not be the best way to go for these little vignettes though. We'll see.
Now, people weren't very responsive in general to the poll so I just did some quick research into pregancy multiples and I've decided to keep it as realistic as I can aside from the obvious fact that these are anthro men getting knocked up with accellerated pregnancies. i'm going to give them litters about the same as their feral equivalents and they'll be gaining size equal to what they would be if they were actually carrying litters that size as best as I can estimate since there are really no real life cases of pregnancies of that size.
SO, thank you guys all for following me! I've been pleasantly surprised by you all. I hope you guys keep enjoying my work and I thank you all for bearing with me patiently as I keep working through this series.

Mpreg poll
Posted 10 years agoAll right so apparently I'm still diving into this mpreg series. I've even gotten a few new watchers for it already. My thanks to you all for watching!
That said, I repeat that I don't normally do this sort of thing so to help with my indecision I'm setting up a poll here.
If you're following the Breeding race series (started with the Breeding Rod submission in my gallery) I just started please post a vote here of how large you'd like Sam Schwarz's litter to be at the end of it!
Leave your comment with how many you think there should be followed by how large you think each should be and then any other details you'd like to see!

Good Writing
Posted 10 years agoI've had a few exercises in which I believe that I did good, quality writing. I don't think anything I've posted yet is in that category. The reason is simple.
I believe a good writer knows hundreds of things you may never know and will do their best to let a strong reader notice much more than is strictly said.
So, it takes a lot of energy and time to do so and I have taken hours to write only a few short paragraphs before. The process involves writing out everything that happens and then cutting over half of it and rewriting it slowly and with a lot less superfluous narration.
The result is a scene in which almost all the passing reader will note is action (whether grand or subtle) but someone who is paying attention will notice how thoughts play into those actions and come to realizations about the characters. Sometimes the most profound thing is what is not said at all.
Admittedly, my favorite author (Terry Pratchett) goes in the exact opposite direction but has a queerly similar result. He uses an immense amount of narration to specifically not say something or to set up the smallest statement and it's utterly fantastic.

Time
Posted 10 years agoI'm starting to realize I'll never take the time to sit down and write the extensive novels I initially imagined my pangaea project working towards nor will I be likely to find an artist with whom to collaborate and make an alternative manga series so I'll settle for little vignettes every here and there of my time. For now I'm happy with the world building and other random fur stories I make. After all, as far as art goes, I'm a writer fourth with dance and music in contention for second and third and acting on top. Yeah. I might be that guy. That guy who's actually been trained for each by professionals who have had strong and public careers. WhAt?! I might be a little prideful about that and overconfident. Anyway, the writing is what it is. More a hobby than a dedicated art.
Blood Magic
Posted 10 years agoIn the many years of history in this alternate world I've been creating there has been numerous techniques of magic developed. Think of it like crossing martial arts styles with the additional variations of energy sources (oil, electric, nuclear, etc.)
The closest art to the original forms of magic is Blood Magic which uses life force as fuel just as the oldest magics did/do, albeit in a different form.
There are a number of benefits to blood magic. Possibly most important is that it is the most effective art for healing skills. It naturally has potentially lethal applications but few practitioners of the blood study those methods intently. After all most every other art can kill as well if not with greater ease and without the requisite of sacrificed blood.
Blood magic was one of the first major deviations from the Old Magic and as such has a very old tradition amongst its practitioners. Most notably is that each practitioner takes a magically binding pact to never use their own blood and as such blood mages normally travel in pairs. Either as master and student or as colleagues.
The reason this binding is important to most practitioners is to reinforce the peaceful and positive strengths of themselves by crippling their capacity to do harm. With blood magic it is almost impossible to use another's blood without their consent and an inability to work one's own blood stops a practitioner from healing themselves (a dangerous position for any rogue members).
Naturally there still are rogues and several have managed to start their own traditions but they are dwarfed in numbers by traditional practitioners of the blood path.

The Mutts (and bit of alternate history)
Posted 10 years agoMuts originally were going to be their own thing but I decided that variety of life in a single strong universe would be better than numerous half-baked projects.
Mut is a derogatory term that actually has nothing to do with dogs (necessarily). It is actually short for mutations and is a sideways reference to x-men mutant stuff. Mutts (with two t's) are people who possess 'mutations' which are, put simply ineffable or it could refer to the mutation itself independent of the individual (used with a single t in writing). It has nothing to do with genetics per se and no one has the slightest clue how they really work. There's actually a complex categorical system to measure a Mut but doing so is like a scientist categorizing animals by phenotype as opposed to genotype.
So why are Muts important in this world of magic? After all, its just one form of the impossible exchanged for another right? Wrong. I hope you saw that coming.
Mutts are dangerous. Oft-times far more dangerous than standard magic-wielders. They have no need to study their muts or practice much to use them (although its preferred if one hopes to use it effectively) and many Mutts are showing much more powerful potential within a narrower frame than normal mages.
For example, it takes a powerful and talented mage (often with years of experience) a great deal of effort and a bit of time to harness enough power just to immolate a single man-sized effigy. Meanwhile one of the most dangerous Muts known is capable of emitting such immense heat (in either explosively or in a focused ray) that he could liquefy a vault door within seconds.
The power gap is not the only problem. Muts aren't just for having a good time and everyone who has a Mut knows that a dog needs to be fed. Exactly what that means varies immensely from one Mut to the next. It could be a simple compulsion, like the need to pop a bag filled with air but it could just as easily leave the Mutt paralyzed for days.
Muts are an anomaly that began showing up in the late 1800s although no one understood what they were at the time. The first verified case that is publicly known was recorded in 1914. Some argue that the first recorded case was in 1898 but the suspected Mutt died before the matter could be verified. Several nations immediately attempted to capitalize on the existence of muts and began to corrall them as they could in an attempt to utilize them as living resource.
In 1933 a mutt named Leonard Constantine fled from the war-torn countries that formed southeast Europe to the Northland Empire. National feuds intesified and the NLE (Northland Empire) again declared its intent to subdue the 'lesser' nations under its rule and set out in a campaign that was intended to stretch across the entire globe. Many nations put up resistance to the NLE and troops found themselves at a standstill with tens of thousands dying and no apparent victor emerging. Until Leonard C. became the first registered Mutt in military service for the NLE in 1940.
After basic training Leonard was deployed initially as a much needed medic in the field due to his skills and training as a doctor. After numerous encounters with enemy forces in which Leonard used his Mut to survive by killing enemy forces the NLE reassigned him in 1942 to a special task force. This task force was tasked to study and practice the potential use of Muts in the war. Three other Muts were on this special task force as well as a number of non-Mutt scientists and soldiers.
The other Mutts were Jonathan Dunn, Aaron Dyke, and Wilford Fett. Their individual deeds are too many to be listed here but the participation of these Mutts in the war led to overwhelming victories for the NLE by the end of the campaign in 1945.
It was at this time that Muts (single T) began to be named separately from their Mutts (double T). For the deeds and manner of execution associated with it, Leonard Constantine's Mut was the first to be named by the NLE and was officially titled 'Lightbringer.

Characters
Posted 10 years agoSo I have a million and one OCs it feels like and even the few that I do have on my main page are woefully under-recorded. There is SO much information that I need to start making journal entries to describe some of them. Since he doubles as my fursona Winter will be the first.
Name: ? Winter
Race: Kitsune (fox-hybrid anthro)
Appearance: Winter is mostly classic Vulpes Vulpes and his fur coat reflects that. He has golden eyes that reflect light from behind a pair of silver spectacles. He prefers to dress up and prefers to wear long coats or jackets such as trench-coats, dusters, tail-coats, frock-coats, and et cetera. Based on what time period he is depicted in his number of tails ranges from a single tail to three at the most modern date although he often hides his surplus.
Personality: Upon first meeting Winter he often seems quite poised and collected but it is truly a shallow facade. He is wildly emotional and lets his emotions dictate most of his actions. He is somewhat manipulative although he tries to refrain from manipulating those he cares about and is infinitely evasive. He often goes for the subtle approach to achieve his ends but is a vicious, dirty fighter if the cards are down.
Winter often appears capricious as he holds many conflicting beliefs and worldviews. He easily distances himself from others and has trouble relating to most but will readily give of himself when someone does reach him on a personal level.
Mostly referring to himself as Winter, he often changes and cycles through first names as the years pass.
Abilities: Mildly athletic, Winter's primary skills are intellectual and magical even though the latter are somewhat ineffable. Possessed of a cool intellect when not overly incited by emotion he will usually try to find a way around a problem instead of confronting it head-on. He possesses some training in martial arts which helps to offset his less than mighty build in a fight.
Early History: Like many kitsune, Winter was born of a mixed pairing while his mother masqueraded as a human. And like many such pairings it was not fated to last and his mother stole off with him in the night. Several years later his father's dogged persistance would prove effective in reclaiming his children (as Winter has an older brother) and would raise them as humans till they came of proper age. Perhaps due to the true gap of human and fox or the simple relationship of father and sons, the children quickly became distanced from their father. Winter left his home and went into the world to study although he was swiftly distracted by the facets of human life he had not experienced.

Grisly
Posted 10 years agoAlthough I like to think of myself as being rather kind I do have a rather vividly grotesque and violent imagination. As such I find myself sitting on an idea I'd like to commission an artist for but its too vile for my favorite artist. (I say this not having approached the artist with the commission but in the belief that I know the artists well enough that I wouldn't insult him by doing so.) So now I need to look about for someone with the overabundance of artistry and lack of inhibitions I need. Right. I may need to peruse back through FA's terms to make sure it wouldn't be stepping too far. (Yes, I am seriously concerned that my imagination is too violent. I take specific measures to ensure it stays purely imaginative though, o.k.?)
I think I could go ahead and commission another O.C. (or two or four...) for reference though without going too far.

Sir Terry Pratchett and the Death of the Disc
Posted 10 years agoI know many of you may be ignorant of him but Terry Pratchett is hands down my favorite author to the point that I haven't finished reading his books because I want to buy all of them myself (and that's a monumental effort for my budget.)
I wanted to insert my favorite quote from his novels here but to do so would be to cheat you of the experience it was to discover it. So instead I leave you the name of the most wondrous novel by which it may be found. The Hogfather
Sir Terrence David John Pratchett is the author of the Discworld and its inhabitants and I have never seen such a vivid and poignant array life as I have from the few of his stories I've already purchased and read. he made a world that was so wondrously imagined and with a profound sense of humour and constantly surprises his readers with valuable insight to human life.
I point this out to you now because by the knowledge of reliable sources such as the BBC news Sir Terry Pratchett has met his own death today and I hope that it has brought him some peace. Erstwhile I commend his novels to you for your reading.

Wedding
Posted 10 years agoA good friend of mine is scheduled to marry this Halloween and they want to go all out with it. I, as best man, *complicated cough* have been told that I should be a vampire. Instead I'm going to go inception as a kitsune in human form masquerading as a vampire for the evening and see if anyone notices. this will involve colored contacts (presumably), false extensions of teeth that aside from the 'fangs', and a very specifically styled outfit that will scream fox at anyone caring to take note. It should be fun.
Horror?
Posted 10 years agoSo I've slowly been building up some bits of lore and world-building for a fantasy setting which follows a premise that many have done but takes it a bit further.
So, yeah, magic is real folks! Guess what? That's nothing new. Unlike most settings where magic either suddenly resurges (shadowrun..) or otherwise permits the world to grow mostly parallel to the world we know, in this version of Earth magic has run history down a dangerous path.
And it all starts with the pursuit of immortality.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. The problem is that I'm having a bit of the G.o.T.S. where there are no heroes, which was somewhat intentional but leads to the issue. THERE ARE NO HEROES. In this despairing dystopia catalyzed by the presence of what should make the world a wondrous place I have no singular driving storyline. Instead I have bands of mercenaries, xenophobia, eternal cults, decaying dynasties, demons that are not demons, rigid castes, abhorrently unmitigated hatred all around and all because of magic.
I did not initially plan things this way and yet after the first bricks were overlaid by tar it was inevitable that this yellow brick road was doomed to be lost beneath something far more unpleasant.
Maybe I just need someone good in my life to inspire me.
Or maybe the world might just like another generation of complete diabolism in fiction.

Heilige Scheisse!
Posted 10 years agoAside from speaking stilted german I've now actually submitted something!
Didn't expect this day to come. Now to dance off into the moonlight!
p.s. It's late and I'm tremendously excited that I actually finished writing anything. (Even a silly smut piece)
