Cucumber the cat

General | Posted 7 years agoRead this out of Terry Pratchett's "Snuff" and found it a gorgeous bit of word craft :
Whence came it, that ethereal music, from what hidden grot or secret cell? From what dark cave? From what window into paradise? We watched the tiny figure under the spotlight and the music poured over us,sometimes soothing,sometimes blessing,sometimes accusing. Every one of us confronting ghosts,demons, and old memories. The recital [] took but half an hour,or perhaps, a lifetime. and then it was over,to a silence which spread and grew and expanded until at last it exploded.Every single patron standing and clapping their hands raw, tears running down our faces. We had been taken somewhere and brought back and we were different people,longing for another journey into paradise, no matter what hell we had to atone for on the way.

General | Posted 7 years agoWell, here's my con report
Loved it. I was nervous traveling so far, and I hate flying. but gritted my teeth and got there. it was a tiny con to what I was first exposed to. my first con was RMFC and that was over a thousand. my second con was blfc and that at the time was the third largest con in the world! so a 528 attendee con was cozy. and elevators has no line!
so far I've done rmfc, AZFC, and blfc 3 times now. since I missed the room block for denfur, I figured to try the east coast.
was was really cool I was able to meet my east coast fur friends in person
Onic came over for one day,
velantian was there the whole weekend. and we hung out and got a lot of pictures of my performing in Ryvvikk Bunnycatantler who was a big hit. particularly with the 'normies' I'd always be getting "can I take a selfie with you??" it was a blast.
and it was the most comfortable I've felt at a con, so my self confidence is building ;)
I also met some new furs I hope to continue correspondence with
Beryl_Wolf who was a real cool guy with an awesome goat wolf he made, and a fellow nerd with cameras and engineering stuff
Protius and more. lots of hugs (but never enough) ;) and I found the small con more intimate and mixed interaction with everyone, where the big cons there's just no way to see everyone.
I REALLY liked fullsuiting. even though it was really hot. the Ryvvikk really had a presence. prehaps one day I'll have to attempt to get Catwirez a fullsuit again
I took a couple SD cards of photos so I'll be posting a select collection. the Dealers den was small too, but I still manage to spread the love to the vendors, especially the ones selling scented fursuit spray. a Vital consumable for full suiting.
but now I have to collapse from the really long flight day, and I have to go back to work tomorrow ;_; so PCDS will likely hit hard then.

A DOG growing thinner, for want of a dinner,
Once purloin’d him a joint from a tray;
“How happy I am, with this shoulder of lamb!”
Thought the cur as he trotted away.
But the way that he took, lay just over a brook,
Which he found it was needful to cross;
So, without more ado, he plunged in to go through,
Not dreaming of danger or loss.
But what should appear, in this rivulet clear,
As he thought upon coolest reflection,
But a cur like himself, who with ill-gotten pelf,
Had run off in that very direction.
Thought the dog, à propos! but that instant let go
(As he snatch’d at this same water-spaniel)
The piece he possess’d:—so with hunger distress’d
He slowly walk’d home to his kennel.
