I'm so close!/Ink Blot Information
Posted 11 years agoTHE UPDATE
I have been busy with many fursuit-related things, lately. I even made a vast improvement to my fursuit head in my last journal. I made a new fursuit head, and this fursuit head resulted in the creation of my official fursona, which I intend to keep as my main, since it all seems clear.
It started with a prototype-head of a character named Penn. I called him that because of his species. A while prior I invented a species of monster called an Ink Blot. Ink Blots are literally living pieces of ink. To make a creature that was art incarnate and use that just felt so right. So right beyond compare.
Anyway, Penn was a prototype head of my official fursuit. I am now in production of a full-body fursuit of the finished, fully-thought character, who I have named Smudge.
INK BLOT INFO
Ink Blots are something I could go on for hours about. I've even invented a whole "Culture" of sorts for these things. For instance, depending on if it was a part of an ink drawing or just a droplet that came to life, the ink blot will vary in form. A shapeless blob of ink will be able to change form vastly, because it never had a shape to begin with. A drawing will look as it did on paper, with minimal changes. It can still change form slightly, but it feels the most "comfortable" the way it was drawn.
Ink Blots often have creative names that are references to ink, paper or art. "Smudge" "Sketch" and "Penn" are good examples of names. Other examples are names that are just corruptions of words, such as "Enk" or "Paypir".
Ink Blots are curious by nature. They also have been known to periodically mimic things they like. For example, say an ink blot enjoys the company of a cat. The blot will try to act like a cat sometimes.
Blots usually live in groups called "Collages", usually finding their own kind to be as nice a company as that of non-ink creatures. They will often bring home items and display behaviors in order to teach each other of their findings. A Collage of Ink Blots is often is lead by one or two alphas. The alpha is never the strongest or fastest Blot, it's actually the one who's learned the most.
These creatures do not eat, drink or create waste. They can, however, get hurt. If they are wounded, they can only be healed by absorbing more ink. They could use a fountain pen like a Stem Cell Cocktail from the game Bioshock. If an undamaged Ink Blot absorbs ink, it will slowly grow in size, as will its power.
A Blot's powers will be different from each and every members of their species, but the most commonly seen powers involve dripping ink off themselves and using them to make new temporary creatures or weapons. Unless the creature/weapon is returned to the body, the Blot will remain weakened until then.
CONCLUSION
Well, that's all I got to say. I'm just so overjoyed at how well everything's going for me on my fursuit and everything. Can't wait to finish Smudge's fursuit. Bye for now! \o/

I FINALLY MADE A FURSUIT HEAD (And I'm not dead)
Posted 11 years agoTwo nights ago, I said one thing to myself. "F*ck it, I'm going to use the mountain of materials I've had sitting around for a year and make a fursuit. I don't even care what it will be, I'll make it up as I go!". And thus came the birth of Scruff.
Scruff is a species I've deemed a "monsterwolf". I have no idea what else to consider him, but he definitely looks like a canine. I call him Scruff because of his scruffy, acid green fur. It just...turned out all scruffy, which I liked. I will be putting pictures on here VERY soon.
Other than that, I have been away for a long time and I apologize. Now that I got my head, I'm also in the process of the tail, handpaws and feetpaws. I'll cya later, I got stuff to make!

Things are looking up, and I have huge news~
Posted 11 years agoI have been working on my animation in order to fix the pain I have felt from the last Journal. It was no one's fault, and I couldn't stop it from happening, so I'm gonna be ok. And due to my constant animation work, something truly epic has happened.
I've finally found my calling in animation. Everything is taking a turn for the better. I am finally sure of what animation series I want to animate, and it's unique, fun and already has some great voice acting. I've been working on it for about a week, and I love it still. The series, until it gets a better name, is called Demon Trainer.
Demon Trainer is based off the How To Train Your Dragon franchise. I loved it always, and I love it now. I saw the second film recently and got so much inspiration I felt like I was gonna explode. And now the time has come to use that inspiration.
Demon Trainer is a series about "Demons", though don't be fooled by the name. In the show, humans have wrongly dubbed this name for a huge number of supernatural creatures. It may be supernatural, but it's definitely not from the depths of hell. Each Demon is very unique, and is based off a real-life animal in some way. I try to add physics when I can to give it that "possibility of existence" thing. The series shows a teenage boy as the protagonist, and while his voice actor is yet to be cast, I'm thinking of giving him an accent. The world the series is set in has a mix of Irish, Scandinavian and English culture. The boy could be a redheaded Irish kid for all I know. As you can probably guess, the teenage boy gets a better understanding of the monsters that are terrorizing villages. He figures out why they do this, and how to make them stop in a way that doesn't involve decapitation.
I have two voice actors trying out so far, and one already has the part of the demon noises. But the voice actor trying out for the character Valdis is what I'm really excited for. Valdis is going to be voiced by the wonderful and talented Rachael Messer, who actually worked for FUNimation as a voice actor at some point. I'm incredibly honored to have her trying out, I really am.
Peace out, I'm off to continue working. I will be posting Demon Trainer episodes here, as well.

I have returned from the void called "real life"!
Posted 11 years agoHey, I've been gone for a while. But, I have returned from the mysterious world known as "Real Life"...
Things have been going great while I was away., I even got a new boyfriend, and he's way better than the last. We really click. But the biggest news is that I'm finally getting off my ass and making a fursuit. My mom is always yelling at me for having so much faux fur around that I don't even use. So I set out to change that. I took one of my nicest furs, a tan color with dark blue tips on the hairs, and have made about 1/3 of the mask already. It will be a partial, and I'm quite proud of how well it's turning out. I have one ear completely done, a lower jaw that will even move a little when I talk, and the other unfurred ear. I'm doing really well. The fursona is also really unique. I'm going to post artwork of him soon, but until then, I'll just leave a description.
The fursona is a bat, who has yet to be named. His specific bat species is a Hoary Bat. His fur is tan, though rather than the silver-frosted fur of the Hoary Bat, he has dark blue in place of the silver. The wing membrane is dark blue as well. He has entirely black eyes, kind of in a creepy way, and his wings are different from the rest. The bat is a shaman, much like in Native American or Aztec culture, and thus has to perform sacrifices now and then. He sacrificed his wings and ability to fly for a powerful spirit that was harmful to others. His wings are now very short. The webbing and digits of the wings are short, while blackened bone of the wings remains spouting through the ends of his digits. He wears Native American jewelry, including two bracelets with a bone arrowhead on each, and a necklace with a carved claw made of horn. The horn claw is made of real horn, and the arrowheads are made of real bone, but everything else is probably plastic. I have the jewelry already made, strung it together myself, while the necklace was bought from a nice Native American style gift shop.
I can’t wait to show you guys the finished head and such things, but until then, expect artwork of the bat.
ATTENTION!!!
I forgot to mention, I have a bit of a contest I’m trying to run. The bat described above still needs a name, after all, and I would like you guys to help me pick it out. Here are the things that will play into which name I will choose.
1. How good the name sounds. The name must be fitting enough, and not too ridiculous to pronounce. I can pronounce a little tiny bit of Aztec, but don’t expect me to pick a name that isn’t longer than a name like Tlaloc.
2. The name’s meaning. If the name you suggest has a meaning that translates to something good or fitting, such as “Wind”, “Bat” or “Spirit”, then I will be more likely to choose it.
3. This next one is more of a rule. Don’t give me more than three suggestions, as I want people to have a chance. I don’t know why, but I feel like giving people more of a chance to pick.

I'M GETTING MY FIRST FURSUIT!!!!
Posted 12 years agoI recently turned sixteen, and my parents were kind enough to buy me a fursuit!!!
I'm getting my fursuit from :menagerieworkshop:, and we made the commission on my birthday, after my party! I have been thinking long and hard about what I want my fursona to be, and then it hit me as I watched a good episode of Rick and Morty (funny how things happen)...
I needed a fursona that is me. Something that really represents who I am. And so, after hearing the song Look On Down From The Bridge by Mazzy Star, I was reminded of my favorite color: Grey. Grey, for some reason, has always been the color that describes me most. Grey is like the color that stuck by me for a majority of my life. Grey has always made me feel calm and happy, neutral and content. So I started thinking up face shapes for fursonas that would look good in grey. Eventually I figured that grey wouldn't be as great if it didn't have a color mixed in. So I picked my other favorite color, Mint Green. Before I knew it, I came up with something I eventually named the Nulvox. The Nulvox now has a picture in my gallery.
The name Nulvox is sorta Latin for "No voice". Since it doesn't have a mouth on it's main head and instead has one on it's tail, it was kind of fitting.
The Nulvox is more me than I could have ever thought. I can't wait for Menagerie Workshop to make it, and send it over. My Nulvox fursona will be named Senga, and I plan to go as her to Rocky Mountain Fur Con.

Making a fursuit head, loving it
Posted 12 years agoI recently purchased some Balaclava, and I'm working with it as we speak. I have decided to make a test head, which is going to be a blue dragon made of fleece, since I don't have any vinyl in the preferred colors. The foam spikes have already been glued on, and the upper muzzle has been made. It's going to look a lot like a stuffed animal, which I'm ok with, since it's only going to be a test for my skills.
Also working on an ultra-great animation, which will put my skills to the test. It will be a secret, but I plan to make every single frame perfect and good-looking.

Boyfriend has left me, needing support.
Posted 12 years agoWell, my boyfriend has decided to break up with me. I won't go into detail on why, but he had valid points. We don't fit together as mates, but we still fit together as best friends. We are going to keep in touch very much still, but I'm going to miss kissing him and having those yiffy roleplays. And just missing him in that way in general. Today I had a breakdown, and now that we've gotten me to stop stabbing myself with a pencil (no joke, I'm afraid), I am able to move on. I will take any support I can, as I really need it right now. I still like him and I'm not mad, but I do miss it. And I need some help getting it off my mind.
I'm not really a fan of internet dating, but if any of you furries live in colorado and are around the ages of 15-16, I will gladly meet up with you. I'm not asking for a date, I'm asking for a friend. JUST a friend. I would love to meet a fellow furry who actually identifies as one.

First Journal, First Fursuit, First Show of Bad-Assery
Posted 12 years agoHey all! My first journal ever! I'm so excited to get you guys in the know!
First off, I want to say that I am finally working on my first-ever fursuit. This character has not become an official Fursona, but he is definitely going to be my first costume ever made. The dragon is based of Toothless from the movie "How To Train Your Dragon", however, which worried me as well as excites me. I will also be wearing this costume on Halloween, so keep an eye out if you live in CO!!!
The reason it worries me is the material I'll be using. I have never even thought of making a dragon costume that used scaly-looking materials, like vinyl and thinner materials covered with puff paint. And since it's based off Toothless, the color will most likely be a bluish-black. And dark colors are supposed to heat up faster, I know I'll have to really look for some materials that are at max breathability. I know vinyl is not breathable, and breathability is very crucial. I could use Puff Paint, but that could take a long time. And I'm running out of duct tape.
The reason I'm excited is because Toothless is an excellent example of what I think a dragon would be like if it existed. It would be an apex predator for obvious reasons, and would be able to develop it's intelligence faster due to easier food, a large environment, ect. I am mad about dragons (and cats), and I LOVE HTTYD more than any other dragon movie out there. It really speaks to me, especially since I know a lot about animal behavior and happen to know how to tame certain small animals, like cats and dogs. Or at least get them to accept me a bit.
As for how much progress I have on the fursuit, I have already finished the entire model of the head. It has no skin, no eyes, and no teeth, but it's a full duct-tape-and-wire model that fits over my head nicely. The inside is padded, too. I even added the base of the "ears" of the costume onto the head, since now would be the right time to put them on. So much duct tape has been used to make this costume...I regret nothing for the murder of many rolls of duct tape. :P\
Anywho, peace out, cya, I got a fursuit to finish. :)
