Posted 8 years agoMy desktop died of an update, and I can't stand typing emails on my phone or looking at tiny reference art so y'all gonna have to wait patiently while I whittle down my queue AND get a new computer. Old one was a laptop with a cracked screen anyway, so I'm not terribly fussed that it's no more.

WHERE: Near where the parade starts, wherever that will be! I've never been to this hotel, so just look for us :) I'll be in henmare so you know who to look for.
WHEN: 1:45. The Games end at 1PM and the Parade starts at 2PM. This hopefully gives people enough time to go decompress/eat some food and just show up a little early to an event they were going to anyway.
Note: if the convention's schedule changes, the NLCC shoot will be 15 minutes before the parade to keep things simple.
This is a casual event! Show up, do a silly pose with us and then you're off the hook to go the Parade. Please be be on time if you want to participate in the NLCC shoot because we don't want to hold up anyone who wants to go to the Parade/convention group photo!

Posted 9 years agoFellow artists who are trying to sell things! Make sure you start adding "for sale" or "open for new work" or whatever in your upload itself, because your submission's title is no longer visible when viewing it from the thumbnail unless your audience has manually toggled it back on. I only noticed this because a friend who does a lot of premades posted something just now and unless you click on it you'd have no idea the whole point was to sell it so wow, great job FA. IDK why it's a good thing to make artists' lives harder. At least make your unnecessary change to be opt-in???

Here are the "catches"...
-I would prefer that I have all (or at least most of) the furs/fabrics already. I have a ton, trust me XD
-Completion time is "as soon as possible", but please understand I cannot promise hard deadlines.
-You NEED a clear reference image if you're requesting something specific, as I can send you WIPs for fun but I can't wait for approval (I can only work when my baby lets me so I have to do it this way).
-Head includes a fan, a moving jaw and your choice of eye styles (resin, toony 2D or 3D).
-Artistic liberty is totally fine! I can work with a few prompts or completely surprise you (I've been really wanting to make an angel dragon, in case anyone is interested).
-NOT first come, first serve! You have until Jan 23rd at midnight EST to submit your idea to WOLFBIRD@GMAIL.COM and from those received I'll pick one (please note that I although I can't reply to everyone individually, I'll contact you if I have a question or, obviously, if your project is selected).

We had our baby!

I went in for a 39 week induction (I had well-controlled gestational diabetes, so an induction then is routine). The drug I was given to prep my bits for birth succeeded in kicking off labor, which was cool because I was like wow things are rolling along nicely, and not cool because by 3AM I was feeling preeeetty uncomfortable instead of sleeping.
He was born October 9th at 2:48AM after about 24hours of labor; which was less bad than it sounds because my 1PM epidural really helped and most of that time after that was spent watching Trailer Park Boys. Active labor was awful and horrendous, he got stuck and they had to get him out with a ventouse. I got a 2nd degree tear on my lady-taint but hey, kid's alive and so am I so it's not all bad.
nephisdragon was a stellar birth partner and did all the right things, including buying me tasty food, getting between me and Stupid Nurse and letting me watch Steven Universe the night of the 7th with kanupi (who kept us company the night before and we greatly appreciated that). And a big thank-you to my in-laws for driving all the way up from New Brunswick and cleaning my house and making us food and buying us presents.
We're still getting the hang of things but so far so good! If I owe you an email I'll be contacting you soon; my PC has been unplugged until today and ahhhhh so overwhelming X3 what is sleep

Life, work updates.
Posted 10 years agoBecause I've been pretty off-the-radar in recent months, just wanted to fill you guys in on some important things:
They're going to induce my labor soon, though we don't yet have an exact date it'll be early October. I am... not excited about this but I have no desire to expand on why because it's a huge can of worms I don't want to open here. Just know that I'm having a hard time.

I am so, so done with this pregnancy thing that it's not even funny. If I could trade what I've got going on for normal problems like back pain or more stretch marks, tell me where to sign. I'd be all over that. I am an emotional wreck and it seems nothing is going how it should any more.
I'm going to start therapy next week, which I actually am equally excited and nervous about. Part of the reason why I'm going is the above two points, the other half is just how... insane everything has become lately. It's almost as if my husband and I are on some kind of teeter-totter-- when he wasn't doing well, I was his rock. Now that he's doing better, I feel like I'm falling apart and he's been nothing but supportive. Surely some of this is hormones and will hopefully go away on their own, but I've also come to realize I'm not as emotionally stable as I always thought I was. I intend on working on my self-confidence, and I would like to one day not always feel guilt or shame or anxious over the stupidest things.
EDIT: the high-risk pregnancy clinic made me schedule ultrasounds they didn't even want to give me because reasons, and wasted so much of my time that I had to cancel said therapy and now the therapist is too booked with existing clients to be able to see me before the induction. And after that I'll be breastfeeding a newborn baby and have no idea when I can be away from him for a few hours. WOW THANKS CLINIC, A+ SERVICE
I still do not know when I'll re-open for costumes. Things might go really well and I'll be in a few months, they might not. My highest priorities right now as myself and my family. Though I'm flattered that I've been sent many notes about future slots, I really can't promise anyone anything right now-- no prices, no time estimates, if I would be interested in making your character, nothing. While I greatly appreciate your interest, right now I'm too overwhelmed to be thinking about fursuits.
My remaining projects are being finished up as we speak for completion before my induction. I want to especially thank the 5 of you for being total sweethearts.
