Computer Problems. Yet again.
Posted 8 years agoWell, more computer problems have arose. Instead of just working some minor temporary fixes like I've usually done, I'm finally going to just give up and completely restore it to factory defaults and wipe everything.
Hopefully, I'll start on the next drawing tomorrow if the process goes smoothly. At least I just got an internet upgrade, so redownloading won't be a huge week-long process like it would have been before.

Finally Settling In!
Posted 9 years agoSo, I came back from FA:U and now I am finally moved in to my new house here in Lynchburg. Everything but a few boxes is in it's place. Now that everything is done, now I can finally start writing again. If everything goes according to plan, I will post the next chapter within the next three or four days. I know I am a little less than reliable when I say that, but writing does take time. And inspiration. There are some days where I literally cannot find the right words. Anyway, I look forward to continuing the story. Maybe I will finish it by the end of the year! Well, I shouldn't try and be too ambitious
Frustrating situation...
Posted 9 years agoSo, the spring semester at Liberty University ended over a month ago. However, I am still not done. As many of you know, I am in their aviation program. Near the end of the semester, there was a a storm that took around 10 days to pass. Since many people were trying to finish their course, all the examiners were backed up pretty bad trying to get everyone through to take the final test. All the students were allowed a thirty-day extension to get everything done. I thought this was completely doable. However, I needed to finish five hours of ground lessons before I was ready to take the test. Again, I didn't have anything against it. It was pretty easy to finish five hours, but my instructor was really slow in getting them done.
I was finally ready to take the test, so I was going to take a review flight, since it had been a little over a month since the last time I was in the air. To my dismay, it was pretty rough. You don't retain it like riding a bike or driving a car. I needed one more review flight, so I had to reschedule the test. The next review flight, I did great and I was 100% confident that I could pass the test with no problems. By this time, I only had four days until the extension deadline, but considering how easily an instructor picked up my request the last time, I still wasn't worried; but no one contacted me each day until the deadline came and so I technically "failed" the course because I couldn't take the test on time.
Now I am forced finish up my training outside of the college at a different flight school to get my private pilot license before next semester, since that is a requirement for just about every class I have next semester. All my stuff, except for some clothes and my computer/phone/iPad, are back in Missouri and I am still stuck here in Virginia.
I was really looking forward to being back home with my family, being able to focus on getting some money and writing my story, but oh well. I will still try to write the next chapter in the story while I wait to get started in this new flight school. I apologize for the wait. I hate abandoning my characters for this long of a time.

Good news and bad news.
Posted 9 years agoFor me, that is. So, I mentioned the test earlier today...I failed that, but apparently that wasn't the big test that I thought it was. I was under the impression that the end of course included getting my Private Pilot Certificate, but that is something I complete afterwards. The end of course is just a test to get a grade on the flying course, so it's less important.
Anyways weather is being quite disagreeable up here, preventing many people from finishing their end of course (and I'm at the back of the queue), so I have a bout of a wait until then. To make up for that, I will be leaving on a vacation with my extended family in Florida for the next week. During that time, I hope to write and post the next chapter in my story, but I can't make any promises. There is a lot of fun to be had and I also need to study for when I retake the oral exam when I return (studying on vacation...not very effective).
Obviously, once I finally finish up over here, everything will become SO much easier. I can't wait for that. This school year's end could not be any more weird and confusing.

Taking the big oral exam for my aviation!
Posted 9 years agoSo, later today, I will be taking the oral exam for my check ride. This is the big part of getting my Private Pilot Certificate. After this test, I just need to go up in the air and be tested on my flying skills, which should be no problem at all. I'm confident that I can pass the oral, but I'm still a little nervous, since I don't know this instructor. Anyway, I'll post another journal when I finish it. Hopefully it'll be good news!
Summer Is Coming... And I Might Be Trying Art
Posted 9 years agoSo, this semester is coming to a close and summer is about to begin. As much as I'm ready to go relax and get a summer job, I'm going to miss this place. I have friends here that I'm not too happy about going three whole months without seeing them. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it. I need to get a job so I have money for next semester, and I can't stay in Lynchburg, so back to Missouri it is. Oh well, I guess it will make my reunion with them that much better when I come back.
Anyway, for the Fall semester, I registered myself for a "Drawing I" class. So, if I learn a bunch, I might start posting MY art here on FA. In the distant future, of course. I don't plan on getting good anytime soon. I am not a very patient person, but one of my life goals, alongside being a published novelist, is to be a satisfactory artist. I want to be able to take a picture formed in my mind and put it onto paper and actually like what I see.
I'm really excited for next semester. I have high hopes for everything. I'll have my Private Pilot Certificate, I'll be moving on in my flight training, I'll start over with new potential friends, I'll have better dorms. I almost wish that I could just skip the summer!
Anyway, just a short life update for those of you who care. Thanks for reading, and have a good one!

A little update.
Posted 9 years agoI know it has been three weeks since my last submission and I apologize. Several things are going on. First of all, school started, so I have that constant pull on my time (which I often ignore...). Also, my roommates and I have actually started getting closer. Last year, we were quite distant for reasons I don't know, but this semester, they decided to get to know me more, so I enjoy hanging out with them a little more (another force pulling my time). Then I also got the condition that all writers fear...writer's block. I opened up the word document and I had absolutely no idea of where I wanted the story to go. It was really annoying.
However, now I am a little better. I know what I want to do and I am getting the hang of my school schedule. I have a research paper due in a week, but I'm pretty sure that I will still be able to post the next chapter later this week.
I also just wanted to say thank you all so much for just reading my stories. It means so much to me that some of you actually look forward to me releasing my work :D

IPad Keyboard Take Two...
Posted 9 years agoSo, the first keyboard I got for my iPad to replace my writing laptop was not working very well. It kept lagging really bad and then it would act like I pressed keys more than once when I only did it once, which really messes me up when typin fast...so, I got myself another keyboard, this time it is not bluetooth. Hopefully that will improve things.

I'm also posting on Deviant Art.
Posted 9 years agoThis isn't going to be a really interesting journal. Just wanting to tell you that I decided to also post my stuff to Deviant Art (mainly because Weasyl is...to quiet). For those of you who care, my user name is WolfenShadow97, since "WolfenShadow" was already taken (Grr!). This is still going to be the place where I am most active, but I will try to check my Deviant Art account regularly, too.
Why there's no content yet.
Posted 9 years agoSo, I went home for Christmas break and came back. I was able to write one story while I was there, but I started having problems with my computer. I decided to reset it to factory defaults and still it on eBay and replace it with a bluetooth keyboard for my iPad. I was expecting to get it by the time I got back to Lynchburg Virginia, but apparently it was out of stock. It finally arrived, but the post office is closed. I will start writing again immediately tomorrow, one I pick it up. I can't wait to start writing this next post!

I'm back! Sort of...
Posted 9 years agoWell, I arrived back home. I actually got back home a few days ago. I was meaning to post a journal when arrived, but there were some problems with the internet and I couldn't get on this site...anyway, my school is done for now. I go back early to do some flying on the fifth of January, but since I am going to be one of the only people there, I'm going to have plenty of time to myself. I would like to have Part 20 finished and posted by the time I leave, but there is a lot of stuff I'm going to be doing (being Christmas and all). Thank you for your patience, those of you who are waiting.
Have a great Christmas, everyone!

Taking a break, but I have a question...
Posted 10 years agoHey, everyone! Just so you know, since it is nearing the end of the school year, I have a few projects that I need to start working on. Most likely, I will not be writing anything until the 16th (the day that I leave to go home).
But, for when I do start writing again, I have a question for you? I have several standalone story ideas that I was wanting to write. Would you want me to write one of those before the next Wolfen chapter, or do you just want me to finish it up before doing something else?

Changing submission format to PDF.
Posted 10 years agoI apologize for posting two journals in one day, but I just wanted to tell you quickly that I just switched all of my submission files to PDF files (and will do this with future entries), so now they will be a little more compatible with browser / mobile viewing, also because I realized that not everyone has Microsoft Word. Anyway, hopefully this is better for everyone.
Why do I do this?
Posted 10 years agoUgh, I spent a whole day without writing a single thing...and not because of school. It's because I tried playing Soul Caliber V, but I absolutely suck at that style of fighting game (with pages and pages of combos to memorize). However, I am quite stubborn when it comes to video games. There was playable lizard man called Aeon that I was determined to master. At the end of the day, my many pointless hours spent sitting at my Xbox finally paid off...sort of. I was able to beat pretty much any Normal computer with ease.
However, when I moved on to Hard computers, I rage quit after losing fourteen out of fifteen matches and I don't know when I will end up playing again...probably later tonight (I hate myself).

Thanksgiving Break
Posted 10 years agoI woke up WAY too early and can't go back to sleep, so I thought I'd go ahead and write a journal. It's Thanksgiving break! A whole week without classes, to get ahead on homework...nah. *procrastinates*
Anyway, I'm going to be heading home to my family this week. Should be a lot of fun. I'm leaving my gaming laptop at my school, but I'm going to bring my smaller one so I can continue writing over there. I've currently written about 14 pages (I took the last couple days off) and, if things go well, I may even have it finished by the time I come back, but we'll see. Those of you who have followed me for any amount of time know that I'm a hardcore procrastinator :)
Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone!

This next chapter.
Posted 10 years agoJust so you know, this next chapter might take a little longer, because I want this one to be good. It is going to be, maybe, up to twenty (probably more like 10-15) pages long. There is a lot of content, but I don't really want to split it up. It's going to contain the battle between Verik and is friends and Erebos. However, I don't want to mess this scene up, so once I finish writing it, I will probably proofread it and re-write it.
I will also try to work on it more than I normally do for the chapters I post here. This will probably become easier since I finished several video games I was playing and my gaming laptop is usually in use by one of my friends in my dorm that became addicted to GTA V, making it easier to sit down with my writing laptop to work on this :)
Anyway, it might be a couple weeks (shouldn't be more than three), but this one will be pretty good, I think. I am looking forward to writing it.

Sigh...
Posted 10 years agoI am not very satisfied with how my story is turning out as I post it here, and I'm not too surprised. What I post here is essentially my first draft. I wish it went together better, but normally, you write the story, read it, rewrite it, read the new version, and probably rewrite it again. However, there has been no rewriting for Wolfen whatsoever. I have come up with many new ideas and twists that I can't implement in my current story, since everything is already posted.
As many of you can tell, some of my characters that I have introduced in the beginning of the story have become invisible and haven't been mentioned since. This is mostly because I have overwhelmed myself, since I was pretty new at writing. Honestly, I probably should have waited until all my planning was finished before posting here, but I was ready to start posting.
I will continue to finish the story here the best I can. There are probably about ten to fifteen parts left (though I have plans for a decent amount of content in my mind). Once it is done, you will probably not see anything from me for a while as I rewrite my story and try to perfect it and make it much higher quality than it is right now. As I think I mentioned before, If it becomes well-enough, I will try to publish it to Amazon or something, though it will have to be improved a LOT for that.
Anyway, to those who actually read my stories that I post here, thank you for putting up with me :)

I FINISHED MY BOOK REPORT!!!
Posted 10 years agoFor those of you who read my previous journal, I was having some problems with a couple papers I needed to write. I finished the first one really easily, but the book report was more difficult. Since I hadn't read the book, I was just going to find online sources that told me what I needed to know. Unfortunately, there was nothing useful online. So I actually had to read the whole book before I started writing. What I ended up doing was buying the audio book version and playing it on X2 / X1.5 speed through the whole thing, finishing the book yesterday. Today, I spent my free time writing the paper and I just finished a few minutes ago. So, YAY!!! The quality is probably only average and I'm probably not going to get more than a 70/100 points, but I don't really care. It's a geography class. I'm an aviation major. I don't give a crap about this class. It's just credit hours.
So, to celebrate (before I go immediately to bed, since I have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning to go flying), I'll tell you my inspiration for the design of my fursona, for those of you who might be interested. It's a pretty boring and short story. It's actually not even a story. Before I joined the furry community, my username for EVERYTHING used to be Wolfen320 (320 is my birthday). Once I joined, I wanted a better name for myself, but I wanted to keep the first name Wolfen (since I love it for some reason). My first thoughts were something like Wolfen Raven or Wolfen Nightshade. I settled with Wolfen Shadow just because it sounded okay.
The problem then, was that I didn't have a design for my character. I wanted something with the color grey (my favorite color), blue (my eyes) and blonde (my hair color...sorta). However, I couldn't come up with anything and it didn't quite fit the last name Shadow. Too light. I needed something with black. I couldn't think of any color that black complimented more than red. So I kinda turned completely around and made a totally different design (my current design). In the future, I might evolve it a little more, just to give it some more flare, but for now, I have become really attached to how my character looks.
Here's a generic ref sheet that I colored in (I am by no means an expert, so forgive my sloppiness in some areas): http://s7.postimg.org/4pjn4ohwr/refsheet2.jpg

There will be a delay in the next part of Wolfen again.
Posted 10 years agoI apologize. There will be another delay in my posting the next part of Wolfen. A paper to write in one of my classes, and a book report that I'm gonna have to fake my way through (since I haven't actually read the book yet and I don't have enough time to do so). So my weekend is going to be kinda busy. And I will probably not have enough time before next weekend to start writing. It also doesn't help that I'm a little sick.
So, yeah. Sorry about that. I hate putting my story off like this. :(

Going to get a bodysuit for my partial!
Posted 10 years agoSo I communicated with

Oh gosh...my video has 71 views -_-
Posted 10 years agoSo, apparently, my first (and only) video I posted on youtube (my reading aloud of Wolfen - Part 1) has 71 views...71 people witnessed my awful narration. One person liked it, though :)
I was thinking about taking it down, since I really don't like it, but I decided against it. It will be funny to watch when I'm 30 years old. I am much better at writing then narrating.
For those of you who watched it, you don't know what's actually going on with that video. It took over an hour just to read the whole thing aloud. When I was recording this, that was when I had really bad speech skills. What that video is is about 50 different audio sections edited and pieced together. Why there are so many is because I stumbled over so many sentences and had to restart. When I made a mistake, I would end that section, start another one. At the end, when I finally finished the initial recording, I had to cut out each mistake from all the sections and then piece together everything into one audio track. This process took me an eternity.
Granted, I got much better at speaking, after my job at a fast food restaurant (which forces you to speak all the time), but I probably won't continue doing these recordings. Mostly, I am at college and it is hard to find a quiet place to make a long recording. Another large reason is that I left my microphone at home...
Maybe I'll start recording my stories again when I finish and rewrite it. I kinda wish I could do stuff like this and have another way to share my story with people, but for now I will keep with writing.
