I'm feeling a little blue...
General | Posted 5 years ago...And by that, I mean I'm changing Doc's quills/hair tendrils from jade and tourmaline, to cobalt and sapphire! Since rolling out Peridoc's futa form, I've received a trickle of comments that the jade-colored hair in hir reference sheet looks like seaweed, so I've been thinking of other colors that might be conducive to hir color palette. Doc already has silver scales, black silicate horns, and amethyst eye markings, so that restricts the palette of colors that would complement the palette; jade is considered complementary to amethyst, which is why I had originally picked it, similar to how Doc's horns provide a stark contrast to hir lighter scales. But of course, there are always analogous and neutral colors that can pair well with amethyst, so I decided to throw several colors off the cuff and see what people thought!
To that end, I had recently run a poll asking people on Discord what hair color they'd prefer to see Canon Doc and Peridoc with, collecting 47 votes in total. The results were 6 for iron-gray, 8 for jade-green, 9 for amethyst-purple, 11 for ruby-red, and 13 for sapphire-blue. It's rather funny to think of, but apparently the two opposite colors (ruby and sapphire) ended up being the winners, much like how the mouth types I had polled ended up giving me opposite results. Anywho, I have now updated literally every image in my FA gallery featuring Doc's soft, pliable, cryptocrystalline quills to reflect this color change!

And despite having no birthday presents, no birthday money, no birthday cards, no birthday cake, and the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down all the places I could go out to celebrate my birthday at, I still managed to score a very exciting birthday gift- a girlfriend!

Ahem. Hellooooooooo, everyone! I've got some exciting new updates to share with you all about how things have been. Since my last journal shortly after I turned 22, I've been pulling up my grades in uni after dealing with some exasperating courses (and their instructors), trying new alcoholic beverages to continue developing my palette, drawing an "everyday version" of my persona to match who I am in the present-tense, mindlessly binging on Warframe, getting a new well-paying job at a drug store, and helping to support some of my friends who have been really down on their luck. It's all been an amazing year as I crawled my way up to a stabler, happier position, and I hope it's been that way for everyone watching me too! But if it hasn't been a good year to you guys, don't worry- I'll be here for you to make next year better. :3
And finally, I have recently done a MEGA-UPDATE to Peridoc's feral reference sheet! A few big infographic panels have been added, plus three new doodles of Doc just to illustrate a special organ of hirs (and its proportion relative to hir size). You can find that in the update below...

THE ARTIST CAME THROUGH! (update on my last commission)

Yesterday in the wee hours of the morning, I had submitted a commission by DeiWildcat, who had disappeared for months after leaving me with a near-finished picture. I didn't know where she went or what became of her, but she came through and presented me with the finished commission today! Apparently she just didn't want to reply to me until she actually had something to show for all the time spent between messages... Huh.

Persona Polling and Updated References

Ahem.
So for those of you who have been following me, I have recently been looking for a way to give my 'sona a slightly more "personable" visage since the most common critique people have for me is "Your face looks like a claptrap." And to do this, I created many different prototype maws for people to vote on! The poll results came in, the options were narrowed down, and then at long last I finally had an edit that everyone could be satisfied with. The front of the Doctor's muzzle is now more like that of a python's, similar to a lot of the dragons I've been in contact with over on Discord. The rear muzzle still has the signature jagged fangs, arranged as a gradient going from "smooth" up front to "rough" in the back. Going from "cute" to "fearsome" along the length of the muzzle, I figured this was the best compromise after seeing how the results ran the gamut from favoring one extreme to the other.
Now with that being said, there are some pieces in my gallery that require updating- namely reference sheets! I have changed all of my muzzles to the appropriate design in the following submissions...

"AAlbus the Animator?"
General | Posted 13 years agoSince I last posted, a number of exciting things have flown into me. First and foremost is the fact that I bore witness to a few insanely epic videos, most notably "Superman VS Goku." Dang, that was a great video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=oyl97TG8jbA#t=1019s The second thing is that I managed to blow through my midterm assessments, scoring grades ranging from 84% to 97%. (aren't I an Einstein) The third thing on the list is that I hurt myself trying to think of a New Year's resolution. I really am listless, which doesn't really help me AT ALL with finding a resolution. Well, at least that's one thing I won't have to worry about! :D The fourth and final thing that's popped up is a stick-figure tournament known as Rock Hard Gladiators...
This snazzy tournament was made by a Stickpage user known as Stone, where stick-figure animators from every corner of the world create their own gladiator and challenge other animators to duels. When you duel, each contestant is supposed to draw their gladiator winning the tournament. From there, people vote on which animation they like based on your animation's graphics, fighting choreography, sounds and music, storyboard, and anything else that would be noteworthy. Some of these animations are very impressive, with stick-figures having much detail and very unique and interesting powers and equipment. Others look like vomit.
I got into the whole tournament after getting to watch a few animations from a few stars like FLLFFL, (made by Terkoiz) Nhazul, (made by Nhazul) Tentionmaru, (made by Tentionmarru) Kixx, (made by Kixx6) and a few others. I was incredibly impressed, and tried animating using everything from Pivot to GIF-editing programs like Gimp. Unfortunately, drawing every frame really sucks, so when I started working with 3D animation in my school, I was psyched. You only had to draw a few keyframes and the computer does the rest. Eventually, I will even be able to aniamte at home, where I have much more than one hour a day to spare. The result? I am arguably the first 3D gladiator on Rock Hard Gladiators!
And good Lord am I getting good at it, too. I know more about bipeds than my teacher does, and already tried making one-and-a-half fighting scenes. The next one will be the demonstration of my gladiator's abilities and equipment, and I've managed to make two parts- each consisting of roughly 30 seconds- in a total time frame of 24 hours. When it is done, I will make sure to post it here for all to see! This may very well revolutionize my FA page with fresh new content...
...Anyway, while I wait for the 3D animation software to hit home, I will have to find some way to occupy my time. Normally this consists of mindless blogging, watching awesome videos, or surfing the Internet for something that catches my eye. (like TVTropes and Cracked.com) However, due to a few snowstorms among other theoretical problems, my internet has gone to crap. Every other link I click on will reset the internet connection, and if it does load, half the time the page is half-loaded. (to the point where it's just a blank white page with texts and no graphics) So, to pass the time until the cyber-shitstorm subsides, I may consider drawing random stuff and spamming my gallery with it.

General | Posted 13 years agoWell, it looks like 2012 is long gone, AND WE'RE STILL HERE BABY! I can't say I am surprised by the news; the Mayans never really had a "loop year," so their calendar actually ended about 87 years ago. If only somebody pointed that out... Aw, well! After staying up and partying when the ball fell on New Year's Eve, I was keenly aware that school was going to be just around the corner. It really hit like a train, too- one day I was burning peppermint incense and mooching on a chocolate Santa, and the next day I have to dash out of the house with 50 pounds of textbooks! Lucky, however, it's only going to be 2 measly days (today and tomorrow) of school before the weekends. That will make for a smooth transition... *AHEM* Anyway, as some of us may know, I am a diehard perfectionist, so thus I am liable to tweak my character every so often. This time around, I felt like doing a couple... interesting... things to him. Among the few little tweaks include...
A MORE SERPENTINE FORM: Doing a bit of research into pressure and energy expenditures, I found out that having a more formless body (no arms and legs) would constitute a more energy-efficient being, considering how the nanomachines have to support the form of them and also have to hang together when they are in movement. The solution? Make the black goo move fluidly! The result? My character moves around like a Chinese dragon! (or what-have-you)
LATIN AND METRIC TRANSLATIONS: I honestly liked how he was before; his English name and whatnot were definitely likable. However, I felt it to be more personal and convenient if he had a few adjustments to his "data." First of all, I took his name (WWhiteSShadow) and converted it into Latin. (AAlbusUUmbra) I did this because Latin is sort of a universal language, (mostly in science) and also has a lot of early Christian roots, which matches him given that he is a strict adherent to the Historical Christian faith. Second of all, I decided to measure him in the metric system because it is more universal and "proper" than using something as native and exclusive as American units. Plus, AAlbusUUmbra isn't even American; he is the Empero- WHOOPS! I mean, "IMPERATOR" of a whole different IMPERIUM.
A MORE EPIC VOICE: Let's face it- if you had unlimited power, (physical, psionic, and political) then you should at least act the part. LESS FLASHY POWERS: I have managed to stay true to this for quite a long time; I have never really exhibited or conceived AAlbusUUmbra as the type who would flex his psionic powers, seeing how much energy it would waste. However, I have slipped up on occasion. In the name of efficiency, I will try harder not to make people's heads asplode. Instead, I will focus on things more along the lines of absorbing life force, cutting off synapses, hacking and shutting down machines, and generally causing total mayhem while using as little effort as possible.
LESS REALISM... MAYBE: Going back to psionic powers, such a high level of supernatural aptitude gives him the ability to defy the laws of physics, create and destroy matter, and just plain break reality. Why not turn his Imperium into a giant trip? As awesome as it would be, I am a little unsure of just how possible that would be, even with his sheer power.
MORE REALISM... MAYBE: Seeing what is actually possible, it is really sad to look back and see AAlbusUUmbra being more epic than I could ever hope to achieve. I can understand the psionics, but just how advanced or powerful he can make the scientific advancements is... sketchy at best. I am still pretty stingy about adding realism to him, however, seeing just how easy it is to apply "Tim Taylor technology" to him...

I have recently discovered a few wonderful memes specifically designed for being put in your journals, and figured passing the time with them would be most entertaining. In other news, I have continued to perfect the Crucilandian race, and may make a few edits to WWhiteSShadow. So, let us begin with the first of the memes I have been digging up... 2. What kind of character is it (furry, anime, etc.)? Does it have a particular race/species?
It is naturally a furry. His is part of the Crucilandian race, a species of posthumans made of nanobots.

4. What is your character's favorite outfit?
His race seems to have no need for clothing.

A couple, perhaps.

Aside from continuing to revamp him into a more and more perfect entity, there is not much else I have planned.

Well, one fellow thought that he had no soul because he is technically just a load of nanomachines... Clearly, he had no idea what a "mechanical lifeform" was.
18. If you could have just ONE characteristic from your character, what would it be?
Perhaps his nanomechanical body. It is the active ingredient of practically everything in his Empire, including himself. Imagine what I could do with them...

That would depend on if I have any real-life dates. As of now, I have none; I blame my apathy for why I am single.

General | Posted 13 years ago...Hello, everyone! Since we last met, I have been knocking out submissions like I was Mohammed Ali for my watchers. I started out by re-uploading all MJC units that I had originally made due to an update in armor design. It kept me entertained, especially in regards to all the nice chains I had to make. It was tough trying to figure out how my character would look if he was a wall of muscle or a prissy queer, but I finally managed it. So, you could say that I have been busy and have been thoroughly enjoying myself for quite a while now. On top of all that, I have been playing EVE Online as of late and have become a multi-millionaire! SOON I SHALL BUY THE ENTIRE GALAXY! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA! But right now, all I can buy is a medium-sized cruiser. EVE Online is fun and trance-like to play solo, but as soon as you enter a corporation everything just turns epic. I might consider hooking up with some miners or bounty hunters or faction-warfare militia after I get a good-sized ship to tear everything apart with. Things were going awesome- my life had ascended to a new level of epic, I have been tossing around A's and B's in my classes, I was a multimillionaire on EVE Online, and I might have picked up a watcher from all the submissions I was doing...

General | Posted 13 years agoRECAPPING! So earlier I had created a 5-part TF sequence for my character to pass the time, then went on an enormous bike ride. I tried doing a Superman while riding and flew over my bike. It was pretty funny once everyone got home, and even funnier after trying to retell the story at school. I started playing an old game of mine on my laptop's emulator, Metroid Prime 2, when I ran into the single most dreaded boss in the entire game. The boost ball guardian. For those of you who do not know what this guardian is, he is part of the signature race for the game- the Ing. To be exact, he was an Ing who stole the main character's (Samus Aran) boost ball ability, and now he has super speed. While that alone is annoying whenever it uses its newfound ability to bounce around and blow your legs off, the agitation only goes up once you realize that the very atmosphere is toxic and there is no safe zone. (or "crystals that emit bubbles of light") So, not only are you getting maliced by the boss, but the air is trying to kill you too. After dying for about the 7th time, I ragequit. It was not THAT horrible- at least I made a funny comic about it...

General | Posted 13 years agoThat's it, we're screwed. Every last adolescent fur here knows what I am talking about- SCHOOL. See those sparkling huge waves at the beach? Gone. See those warm, wide pools with the wave generators? Disappeared. See that amusement park with all the fun roller coasters and warm sidewalks? Lost for the rest of the year. All the fun and games are finally going to go away, and I (like every other year) will be left flailing helplessly and gibbering nonsensically about how much work I have to do. As if I wasn't posting enough submissions as it is- now I have homework, schoolwork, and the DMV to worry about...

Maybe also, if I'm lucky, I can assassinate a few people that all my little "friends" have been gossiping about. You know the sort- the moral pariahs that I hold disdain for. You know, now that I have meditated over this, I suppose that the year is going to be pretty sweet...
