Moving back home in two weeks...
Posted 14 years agoThe Canadian government denied my work permit, so I will be moving back home to New Orleans at the end of July. I'll be living and working from there until I have the money saved up for my move to Los Angeles (should be around the end of the year).
As for how this will affect commissions:
Black Wolf (Duskmane) - auction pieces of Head, Paws, and Tail will be finished and shipped from Canada - the additional parts ordered will be made in the US and shipped from there
Ferran (wolf) - repairs will be completed/delivered before I move
Kinjry (cougar) - finishing touches on Head, Paws, Tail, plus making the torso will be completed/delivered before I move - props will be made in US and shipped from there
I am not taking any more commissions until I am settled in back home (mid-August).
As for that red-eyed black cat, I just have to sew the ears on and it will go up for auction tomorrow night. The auction will run until Sunday (July 24th). It's the head only (though you can buy additional parts post-auction) and the starting bid will be $550. Buyer will pay actual shipping cost separately. Item can be shipped from either the US or Canada, but if you want it shipped from Canada you will need to pay ASAP so I can ship it before I move! Generally, shipping from the US is cheaper though... If you want it shipped from the US, then it will be shipped around August 8th (when I actually get back home).

Posted 14 years agoWhew... AC is over and I barely finished everything. The cat I was working on did not get done, but whatever. There are also a couple of things from the cougar commission that needed to be pushed back. I am also working on the handpaws for the winner of the black wolf auction.
Anyway...

Going Down to AC on Thusday instead of today
Posted 14 years agoA little while ago my brain started shutting down and I couldn't concentrate, so I realized that there is no way I can finish all of this stuff in the next 6 hours...
I have booked a ticket down on the 9:30am megabus on Thursday so that I can actually get a decent night's sleep and finish everything tomorrow and actually be able to pull an all-nighter since I will have slept decently tonight (I can sleep on the bus ride down).
Stuff to do:
Ferran - sew sleeves, make handpaws
Kinjry - finish underskull, fur head, attach hood, attach ears, make handpaws, make tail, make torso, paint
IxChel (optional) - finish underskull, fur head, attach hood, attach ears, make handpaws, make tail, paint

At my first anime convention I felt pretty awkward because I wasn't into anime (still am not). However, once I found a cool group of people it was fun... a group of people who turned out to be the special guest voice actors! They loved me because I had no idea who they were :P
Can you provide any advise on this specific convention or conventions in general?
Drink enough water, get at least 4-6 hours of sleep per night, and have at least one square meal per day!

Duskmane Auction Starts Tonight!
Posted 14 years agoDuskmane's underskull is complete. The head is going to be furred and finished today, then the tail will be made, and then it will be put up for auction on FurBid by tonight. I will post the link here once the auction begins.
The partial includes head, tail, and handpaws (handpaws will be made after auction is over to fit the buyer) and the opening bid will be $600. I am going to make the hood size a bit larger than my own head, so it will fit up to a 25" head. The style will be similar to Greymane, however this head will have more wolf-like ears.
This auction will run for one week, finishing up a few days before AnthroCon. I am going to AnthroCon, so if the buyer is going as well, I can have the handpaws done by then and bring the whole partial with me to deliver there and avoid shipping charges.

I am also now OPEN for QUOTE e-mails. Getting a quote doesn't guarantee you a commission, but it will give you an exact price for your costume.
I am moving my commission opening date to JUNE 27, the Monday after AnthroCon. On that day, if you are interested in a commission, on June 27th please E-MAIL me (do not send me an FA note) with your idea. I am taking at least TWO people for the month of July. Please realize that preference will be given to (1) local people [in or near Toronto], (2) simple concepts [contrary to what it looks like, I am a newbie at this!], (3) canines and felines because I already have sculptures for those, and (4) people who can pay in full or close to it. However, even if you aren't local, have a complicated concept, and want some other animal species, go ahead and try me anyway!
And since I am talking price, I may as well list prices just to give everyone an idea of what stuff will cost. The prices I am listing here are for basic items in which I am given very simple guidelines or full artistic liberty. If you want specific custom work and stuff with more than one color of fur, that will cost extra. Feel free to e-mail me your idea to get a price quote. ALSO, bear in mind that these prices are pretty low at the moment because I am just starting out. They WILL increase over the next few months once I have more projects done and as demand increases.
Basic Artistic Liberty Prices (single color fur) - all prices are in Canadian Dollars
Head (non-moving jaw) - $400
Head (moving jaw) - $600
Handpaws (includes claws and pawpads) - $150
Small Tail (1ft or less) - $20
Medium Tail (2ft-3ft) - $40
Large Tail (3ft-4ft) - $80
TERMS OF SERVICE: I ONLY take commissions for completed works. The raw parts (blanks, underskulls, teeth, etc.) are NOT for sale. You must request a quote via e-mail before you can request a commission. You may only apply for a commission when commissions are open. If your commission is accepted by me, I will e-mail you back confirming that I have accepted it and I will confirm the price. You will have up to three days to respond and confirm. Once you have confirmed, I will send you an invoice via Paypal and you will have another three days in which to pay (if you must have another payment option, we can discuss it). You must pay at least 50% of the total cost up front so I can purchase materials, etc. Be advised that 25% of the total costume cost is non-refundable. The remaining costume cost is due two weeks after your initial payment. Once a project is started, major changes cannot be made to the design. Costumes will only be shipped once paid in full. Buyer must pay shipping charges. Additional terms of service info will be posted prior to commission opening date.

I am working on a bunch of stuff right now, but I really need to get money together to pay my rent for next month, so...
I am putting a rush on finishing the black wolf partial that I am making. Once finished (hopefully by the end of this weekend) it will go up for auction. The partial includes head, tail, and handpaws (handpaws will be made after auction is over to fit the buyer) and the opening bid will be $600. I am going to make the hood size a bit larger than my own head, so it will fit up to a 25" head. The style will be similar to Greymane, however this head will have more wolf-like ears.
This auction will run for one week, finishing up a few days before AnthroCon. I am going to AnthroCon, so if the buyer is going as well, I can have the handpaws done by then and bring the whole partial with me to deliver there and avoid shipping charges.
ALSO, I am making myself a black cat (domestic) partial to wear to AnthroCon. This partial will actually be available to buy off of me (literally) at the Con. I will be taking offers if anyone sees me and is interested.
I am also now OPEN for QUOTE e-mails. Getting a quote doesn't guarantee you a commission, but it will give you an exact price for your costume.
I am moving my commission opening date to JUNE 27, the Monday after AnthroCon. On that day, if you are interested in a commission, on June 27th please E-MAIL me (do not send me an FA note) with your idea. I am taking at least TWO people for the month of July. Please realize that preference will be given to (1) local people [in or near Toronto], (2) simple concepts [contrary to what it looks like, I am a newbie at this!], (3) canines and felines because I already have sculptures for those, and (4) people who can pay in full or close to it. However, even if you aren't local, have a complicated concept, and want some other animal species, go ahead and try me anyway!
And since I am talking price, I may as well list prices just to give everyone an idea of what stuff will cost. The prices I am listing here are for basic items in which I am given very simple guidelines or full artistic liberty. If you want specific custom work and stuff with more than one color of fur, that will cost extra. Feel free to e-mail me your idea to get a price quote. ALSO, bear in mind that these prices are pretty low at the moment because I am just starting out. They WILL increase over the next few months once I have more projects done and as demand increases.
Basic Artistic Liberty Prices (single color fur) - all prices are in Canadian Dollars
Head (non-moving jaw) - $400
Head (moving jaw) - $600
Handpaws (includes claws and pawpads) - $150
Small Tail (1ft or less) - $20
Medium Tail (2ft-3ft) - $40
Large Tail (3ft-4ft) - $80
TERMS OF SERVICE: I ONLY take commissions for completed works. The raw parts (blanks, underskulls, teeth, etc.) are NOT for sale. You must request a quote via e-mail before you can request a commission. You may only apply for a commission when commissions are open. If your commission is accepted by me, I will e-mail you back confirming that I have accepted it and I will confirm the price. You will have up to three days to respond and confirm. Once you have confirmed, I will send you an invoice via Paypal and you will have another three days in which to pay (if you must have another payment option, we can discuss it). You must pay at least 50% of the total cost up front so I can purchase materials, etc. Be advised that 25% of the total costume cost is non-refundable. The remaining costume cost is due two weeks after your initial payment. Once a project is started, major changes cannot be made to the design. Costumes will only be shipped once paid in full. Buyer must pay shipping charges. Additional terms of service info will be posted prior to commission opening date.

Posted 14 years agoI received a notification that the package from VanDykes (the taxidermy eyes) is at my post office, so I will be picking that up tomorrow and notifying certain people who wanted in on the eye order of how much they owe so they can come get them and reimburse me.

Posted 14 years agoI have prematurely closed the auction (it didn't have any bids) due to the fact that I have not yet been able to search for any more of the fur I used and I won't be able to look this weekend (Easter plans). A few people interested in buying the mask were wanting to know if I could get the fur for the handpaws or supply the fur for them to get a bodysuit made.
Therefore, I am going to search diligently for the fur next week, and once I have either found it or come up empty-handed after a thorough search, I will re-post the auction during the first week of May.
If you were interested in buying it, do not fret! It will return - and hopefully with the fur for those custom handpaws, etc.!

Posted 14 years agoI am working on Greymane at this moment to make some improvements to the mask and reinforce it, as well as replacing the interior padding so that the mask can be sold as "new".
I will be making a tail to go with it as well, but I don't (at this moment) have enough material to make handpaws. If I can find more of the fur at one of the other fabric stores, the option to have custom handpaws made (including claws and pawpads) will be included for a post-auction fee.
Also available will be some options to personalize the set somewhat for a modest upcharge (proportionate to the amount of additional work done). These must be minor alterations only, such as changes/additions to the markings, the addition of wefted hair, etc.
With the improvements I am making to the head as well as the addition of a tail to the lot, the opening bid will be $500. I will be posting the auction on Furbid sometime during next week, and it will run (ideally) for two weeks.

Posted 14 years agoI will begin work on fixing Greymane and turning it into a hands/tail partial before I auction it in mid-April. Once that is done, I shall begin my next wolf mask - a black wolf that I shall call Duskmane (I love naming things).

Posted 14 years agoI talked to my Creature Design teacher about actually making my next wolf mask as one of my class projects with his help, and he agreed (if there is enough time), so expect something amazing!
My existing wolf (Greymane) needs a few tweaks, alterations, fixes, and improvements before I am ready to auction it (planned for early to mid-April). Depending on the amount of work done and the extent of the improvements, I may be increasing the quoted minimum bid price a bit. Speaking of improvements, I am highly interested in making it into a partial (tail and average-size handpaws), so should that very likely happen, it will be a really sweet costume set for someone to "adopt". Also, the winning bidder will also have some options to personalize the set somewhat for a modest upcharge (proportionate to the amount of additional work done) - minor alterations only, of course, such as changes/additions to the markings, the addition of wefted hair, etc.
