For the WoW players (in case you haven't heard yet...)
Posted 14 years ago... but if you are a WoW player, then you must have know about this already. I don't play WoW, but this race that they added to the game was something I was hoping for when they started WoW, the Pandaren.
Thing is, even though this race was a result of an April fools joke during the WC days (the RTS one), it gained positive results from the players. It was even added as a playable race in the WoW PnP game. Now I read the comments in youtube, MMO sites and the WoW site itself and it seems a lot of players hate the new race. Whats funny is that most of them says that this race is "new" and should not be in the game. Then again, most players don't even care about the history of the game they're playing.

Inappropriate Fighting game characters.
Posted 14 years agoAs you all know, Capcom is planning to add Phoenix Wright as playable character in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.
wozzler and I was talking about this and I asked him if he can name 5 characters which would look weird, inappropriate or just downright stupid in a fighting game. This is what we came up with.
1.) Professor Layton - He'll solve a puzzle first in order to damage his opponent.
2.) Detective Kogoro Mouri (from Detective Conan or Case Closed) - weak against female opponents
3.) Snarf - annoy his opponent to death
4.) Yugi (or Mai Valentine) from Yugi-oh - he'll insist that the fight be turn based
5.) Commander (from Elite Beat Agents) - he'll dance his opponents to death
hehehehe
What other inappropriate characters can you think of?

My thoughts on City of Heroes....
Posted 14 years ago...well it went F2p so I thought to download it and try it out. Mind you, these is just my opinions and I'll mostly compare it to Champions Online, since its another Superhero MMO I've played. I haven't played DCUO yet.
Character Creation:
First of all the character creation is really nice, you get a feeling of the your origins as a hero (or villain). at the start you get to choose if your powers are magic-based, technology, science, natural or a mutation (i know, its not the word they used, but get the idea). There's some archetypes that are free and some you need to buy, same thing with Champions Online, as with the costume selections. The colors are limited to two, though I suspect that if you are VIP, you get more color selections. Probably one of the things CO has over CoH is that even if its free, you still get to be as colorful as you want to be. At the last part you get to see the effects of your powers and change their colors before entering the game (one thing that F2P CoH has that F2P CO doesn't).
Tutorial:
Well to make it short, CoH tutorial is, well, short. I started on one area, ran and told to kill some monsters, then told to rescue a fallen hero (where I'll chose if I'll be a hero or villain) then went to the zone where the final boss was. The stage final battle is somewhat quick as well. I remember being in that instance with 3 others and after 10 seconds (more or less) the the big monster came out, it was over. I was like "huh? what happened?" I'm not even sure if i did any damage. After that you get to talk to another character then off to the main city (depending if you are a hero or villain). I did tell basic controls and stuff, so you'll be ok.
Graphics-wise, the game looks really nice, not as comic book like as CO, though I do like the comic-book style.
Once you are in the main city, you'll be asked if you want to be flagged as a helper, someone who needs help or none. It's a great way for new players to get assistance and for those who know the game to help out.
Now for the gameplay. Like I said this is just my opinion, but for a superhero game, it's not that "action-y". Well, compared to CO, it fells rather slow and I think it's because of the powers, even the starting ones. The game doesn't seem to have the standard attack that most mmo's have, the ones that doesn't have any cool-downs. Fantasy mmo's have standard swords to swing, arrows to shoot and even mages have have standard magic missile attacks. Champions Online has their Energy builder as well. CoH starting powers automatically has cooldown timers. starting powers should be your basic powers and you should be able to use your basic powers/attack without a timer.
Combat is okay-ish, though is feels kinda sluggish. After using my powers, I just have to run around until one of them finishes its timer for me to use again. I'm not sure if it's nitpicking (or if I'm just picky), but it was kinda of a letdown for me. I might try CoH again one of these days, but as of now, the combat style didn't entice as much.

The interesting thing is (yes's it's about the FA banner)...
Posted 14 years ago... that I see more posts about people's thoughts on the journals of people complaining about the FA banner rather than the posts of the people complaining about the FA banner itself (which mostly the bottom line is "it's only a banner, get over it")
Actually, I don't think I've seen any post whining about the FA banner (if there was, it must have been very few for me to notice)
Then again, I only see the posts of the people who I watch, so I guess that says something about them (meaning the ones I watch are the sensible ones, and not the whiners).

A really very interesting new MMO...
Posted 14 years ago.. called Otherland.
It's based of the novels of Tad Williams : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otherland.
Has some similarities with the .hack franchise anime series.
For me, it's kinda like Second Life + A really good storyline + the standard MMORPG combat and stuff.
It's better if you watch the trailer:

Posted 14 years agoJust watched the new Thundercats and I noticed....
Posted 14 years ago...the voice of Lion-O's dad (Claudus) sounded familiar.
I checked the voice actors and sure enough I realized why. Claudus was voiced by Larry Kenney, the same voice actor who did Lion-O voice in the original 1985 Thundercats animation.
nice.

La la how the life goes onThe Last Airbender: Legend of Korra Trailer
Posted 14 years agoThe new series will take place 70 years after the end of the Avatar: The Last Airbender storyline, so the world has changed from what you know. The setting has a more "modern" feel to it, with the buildings and people and all, with a steam-punk style to it.
Two superhero news...
Posted 14 years agoThe New Amazing Spiderman Trailer, looks more "darker" than the Sam Raimi films. I'm not saying that it's a dark film, just comparing it to the atmosphere of the first Spiderman movie.
