General | Posted 10 years agoIt's spring. It's warming up. The trees and flowers are all blossoming. I have been here for 2 years now and I have grown fairly comfortable with the Chicago area. I feel like I need to get out more this summer. Meet more people and be more social, but selectively.
I'd like to get to know more girls in the area. Anywhere from solely chatting online to possibly meeting up and hanging out wherever. Sure, I could go out to places I find interesting and see if like-wise interested girls show up, but isn't this technically one such place? If you are a girl that is watching my account, then we probably already have something in common. Unfortunately, I just have no idea who you are. Yet!
So, if you're reading this and you're a well-adjusted well-kept female in the Chicago area and you might be interested in talking, send me a note and I'll send you my YIM and Skype or whatever you feel comfortable chatting through. Is this a weird way of doing this? Maybe. But I think going to bars is weirder :P If this goes nowhere then there's nothing lost, but if it goes somewhere then it could be cool.
There is also no secret that I have been seeking a relationship; I have posted other journals to that regard. While this could lead to a relationship and might be nice if it did, I am not doing this expecting one. I prefer to get to know people as friends first and if there's a mutual attraction then it could go further, but otherwise my goals here are to open up social possibilities for such a thing to even become probable.
As for the guys, I'm sorry, I'm not that interested. I have plenty of male friends already and, to be honest, I do kinda feel more comfortable with female friends.
Hopefully this will prove at least a little fruitful. I admit I have tried similar journals with no success, but I'm just in that spring-spirit :) I'll still be attempting the more "normal" means of getting out and meeting people, of course, although "normal" isn't as interesting! :P

The God's Lewd Labyrinth - Update - 'Debug' mode
General | Posted 10 years agoA lot of people have been asking for it and I can understand the desire for it in this particular case. Plus I realized an easy way to do it without needing to add much. So, I have added a 'Debug mode' to the game, as of Bug Fix 'k'.
After you have completed the game 10 times, subsequent plays will have an extra option available when you click the New Game button. You will essentially be able to choose the transformation themes you want to be available for the playthrough.
You do not need to do debug mode, you can still play the game as normal. I set the number at 10 because I figure that's enough for people to play through naturally before starting to really grind for specific themes. It's also small enough that you can easily click through to get to 10 if you've already played the game plenty already. Game overs count, you don't need to "win".
The number of playthroughs is tracked the same way your preferences are. Since it is new, you will need to do 10 new playthroughs to unlock the debug mode. Your preferences are saved in the Flash sharedobject, so if you play on another computer or in another browser, you will be working off of a new set of preferences and will need to start over.
This will likely be the last update the game is getting. If I do see a reason to update with more content, I'll likely post a fresh version.

I had been wanting to try some other ideas beyond Nimin for a while. When Nimin went on hiatus, I had a small game in mind, but then I began to realize it would be kinda large.
However, while "researching" for the game by going through my porn stash, I saw "The God's Labyrinth" again. I read it all the way through and remembered how much I liked it. I also thought about how it had so much potential; there were so many possibilities for it that a straight-up comic can't go into. But, as a game, those possibilities can be explored.
I could have made the game it's own unique thing while just using the basic layout of the story of the comic, but since I like the comic, I figured it would be nice as a fan-support kind of thing. I don't know the creators at all though, so I can't say I support them, but I do support these kinds of comics themselves. I also just like Greek mythology and Theros was out for MTG when I started it, so I was even more into the setting.
What?
The game is a short. Really short. There is no need for saves. Instead, it "should" have a ton of replayability.
There are 14 possible themes to see. There are also unique results for combinations between some themes as well. I tried to see how much I could maximize mixing and matching without going insane. As such, things are shorter for that reason, and not all combinations are realized.
The game is a complete game. There is a start and an end. There are no planned version updates like Nimin has. I wanted to try and create a game that is complete as it stands. I potentially could add more to the game, but aside from updating typos and grammar, there's nothing planned.
And since it's a complete game, I thought it would be good adding a better graphical interface. I made the icons, which aren't great, but I had fun with them.
chichi was awesome enough to help me with the other art assets, making the buttons and and fixing my background so it wouldn't turn to crap on resizing. So, many many thanks to her.
Extra Thoughts
I started working on the game around May last year. I probably could have finished it in under 3 months, but creativity didn't keep up. The game is just under 3400 lines of code. In comparison, Nimin has over 25k lines.
The game does deviate from the comic in a bunch of ways. Some things don't work as well without images or in a player-driven game. The challenge of writing the same scenes from different perspectives alone resulted in quite a few parsing methods, which was a tad bit exhausting... So those things had to be dropped from the comic's story. But at the same time, a comic can't go into other possibilities. Plus I was able to get in some of my own kinks, as well as some that other's might appreciate which I don't care much for, and I was able to align it more closely with Greek mythology. I tried to stay true to the comic where I could, but some things just had to go because it didn't fit or work.
This game allowed me to experiment with a lot of things. Different ways of coding the backend, how to make a decent-looking graphical interface, how to make a game that ends, etc. A bunch of it is already translating over to Nimin, and though Nimin won't have an actual ending yet, I have a better idea how to go forward with it.

State of the Nimin - What do you think?
General | Posted 11 years agoSo, I've been pretty silent about Nimin lately. And at the con, the few people that knew who I was were wondering what happened to it. I respect them, and I respect all you guys as well, but I just didn't want to say anything for a while.
I've been on an unannounced hiatus this year. I specifically wanted to push out all thought of Nimin through the year so I could clean of my mind and get back in the game. After (-insert life story here-), I kinda lost touch with why I came to FA and started writing to begin with, and why I started Nimin. I needed to get back to my "roots" and remember why I was creative.
And it helped. I started a much smaller game that I hope to release within the next couple of months (it's about 80-90% done, and should have been done by the end of the summer, but I got hung up on things). Emphasis on the "small", it won't even allow for saving and loading because it's that short of a game. It did allow me to try out some stuff and though it could be beatable in a couple of minutes, I think it should provide people a couple hours of play. I also wrote a 29+ (not finished) page story that will likely never be posted here.
And despite being on hiatus, I have considered a few things about Nimin and ways I want to change it. Let's face it, it's not really a game, it's a fetish sandbox. Which is good and all, but I know I can write a story and make a game, I just need to finally gear the game that way now that it's got a base to work off of.
So I was considering a couple changes, which I'll mention just as a heads up:
1) Fixing hunger a bit more. It was just a simple mechanic to allow for belly management, but I have heard complaints. Unless you're really trying to get a fat character, I don't know why people have been so worried about hunger. It literally does nothing except trim down the fat from your belly (no other negatives). But, it is apparent that I need to implement it better, as well as making "food" items clearer (there's a bunch of things that, when ingested, increase the hunger gauge).
2) I think changing the events to be more time based has helped made the game less repetitive. However, there's no indication in the game to tell the player that they're time based, so I'm sure many people keep going out at the same time hoping to see something different. I'm going to put more in-game notifications to emphasize that, as well as a "gossip corner" or something that will help allude to things happening at certain times (and potentially hinting other mechanics as well).
3) Possibly removing Prostitution. I know Prostitution is something many people enjoy, but in terms of the game as a whole, it doesn't quite fit the setting I wanted and it makes sex way too "accessible". It has worked as a great substitute for gameplay for now, but it's getting close to the point where it's going to hinder gameplay. Also I absolutely appreciate the people that have submitted the prostitution scenes, thank you guys so much! Also especially huge thanks to
Torakazu,
Bahamad, and
omegaokami for editing those scenes, saving me a ton of time! I do feel rather terrible about not having giving anything for them to edit in years now (there hasn't been anything anyways), but I do feel as though this is a necessary step. I don't plan on getting rid of the scenes altogether, though. I do want to rework some of them and make them into normal events, but not all of them.
3a) (Because people have been mentioning it and I forgot to cover it) Adding something to replace Prostitution as a dependable way of earning money, such as small quests or something you can do in town.
Finally, if there's some suggestions that you thing would make the game better, even just critiques, here's your chance to put them in a place where I can find them easily as I get back into the game next year.
WARNING! I will likely not respond to many of these suggestions, though I do take them into consideration. Many changes I have made have been based off your responses, even if I haven't commented back directly. I just don't reply back too much because A) There's way too many replies to make, I just don't have the stamina, though I still appreciate them B) I don't want to make people feel bad when I have to say "No, that's absurdly impossible"/"No, there's no reason" C) I'm not a very talkative person overall; I can carry and get into conversations pretty well I think, but I'm just not terribly social (hence the lack of stamina).

High Res Fantasy "Erotica"?
General | Posted 11 years agoSorry for all these questions lately. I've been trying to re-kindle my creativity by making my environment feel more comfortable and "inspiring", so to speak. You guys have been really helpful so far so I thought I'd try again.
To put it simply, I need something for my walls, and I'm looking to get some custom wall scrolls because they look and feel so nice, without being cheap or easily ripped.
When it comes to decorating with art, I want something I might see every day and think "I like the look of that...". I love the artwork on many MTG cards, I even go out of my way to trade for stuff I'll never use just because "it looks pretty". So Fantasy art is totally my thing, especially artwork that is whimsical or enchanting. Even some Scifi pics work, but those tend to not feel as "alive" to me. Blues and greens and purples are where I feel best.
And when it comes down to it, I'm a perv through and through. I'm not the creepy kind of perv, but I find erotic works to be much more... interesting to me, and help inspire me to be creative in my pervy avenues. I wouldn't want full-blown porn on my walls, but I do like subtle works. A fantasy landscape with a half-naked nymph is great. A fantasy scene with a woman sexually displaying herself... probably not so much. But if the nymph is lactating with honey drooling from her crotch, without explicitly posing or displaying herself, then oh god is it amazing to me. Pregnancy works, futa works, big nipples or vulvas or clits; if it's got a tinge of kink then it makes things so much better. I have even gone so far as to learn some 3D graphic design just so I can mod Skyrim meshes to be... kinkier, which doesn't really affect the game much for me, I don't use it for masturbation material or anything, but I feel so much more comfortable playing it when I do. Heck, sometimes I'll avoid buying a game just because I can't mod the aesthetic.

Does anybody know of some good high-res kinky fantasy-ish works that are high enough resolution that would be worth printing? This means on the 2000px+ scale, preferably in the 3000px+ region if possible.
I'm having difficulty finding these things on my own. There is a tooooon of art out there and I haven't been as art-hordy as I used to be and I've already spent hours upon hours browsing and coming up with very little. Plus this isn't the kind of stuff I normally look for, I normally look at pictures that I find appealing rather than art that I would display.
Links to the original sources would be preferred, so that permission and compensation can be worked out with the artist, or potentially other deals.

"warm", so to speak, too much yellow and softness that wouldn't stand out too well on a white wall and make me want to sleep more, rather than wake up and explore ideas.

As such, I'm gonna go back to writing things on my own. However, all this pressure I'm putting on myself to get Jamie done hasn't helped. With all the things I planned for Nimin, I've gotten stuck with more plans than I can handle and I just need to put it down for a bit.
Granted, I have put it down for a while, actually (it's nearing a year since the last update!). But, I am not completely creatively drained. In the time of this hiatus, I've started work on two more, much smaller, flash text games, as well as a board game. None of which has gotten that far, but it feels good to do new things without restraint, a bit of a mental break.
So, right now I don't know what's going to come next with Nimin. I'm also not going to force myself to think about it either. It's better if I come back to it with a fresh view. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can do that, but it will happen when it happens. Qualities of Decent Written Smut
General | Posted 12 years agoThis is a prelude to another journal I'll be posting and something that was too long to stick inside another journal.
While I'm not claiming to be a master of written porn, or even that great at it, there are some qualities I've noticed that are important to keep a reader interested and to convey the feeling you want (to actually arouse your readers). I've seen that many writers don't take into account these things and... quite frankly, I find it difficult to find arousal in a lot of stories. Plus this is something others will be needing (as you'll see in the next journal).
1) Repetition
Repetition is -bad-. Read the first sentence of this journal. Does it stick out as awkward? It might not, since it's rather mundane, but the words "another journal" being repeated can really fly in the face of sensibilities. Repeating words/phrases in the same sentence are very obvious and kill the flow of a "natural idea". When something is repeated, that provides a feeling of "this wasn't very well planned out, they didn't know what they were trying to say", because when it comes own to it, if you have to repeat something, you are complicating the thought and didn't put too much consideration into the thought as a whole.
This doesn't apply to just a single sentence or words either. If you repeat a word or sentence structure many times throughout a paragraph, it is recognizable. When you start each sentence in a paragraph with "He", your eyes and brain pick up on it, or when you use a certain grammatical pattern over and over like:
"He did one thing, then he did another thing. He went back over here, but didn't go back over there. He stuffed his cock deep inside, swirling it around and around until he came."
Even repeating the same "idea" over and over again can be tiresome for the reader:
"His cock began to grow in his hands. It grew harder and harder, filling his palm and sliding over his fingers. He drooled at the thought of how much he was growing. Oh god how it grew."
Yes, we get it, his cock is growing. While it can be nice to add emphasis to an idea, there also needs to be a degree of subtlety so the reader doesn't feel like they're bashing their head against the wall because they're being treated like idiots for not understanding this growth from the first time you presented the idea. Even if the sentences aren't together, such as something else happening in between, if you keep returning to the same idea over and over, the reader is going to get frustrated because things aren't actually going anywhere and they're being forced to re-read the same thing again and again, wasting their time. Like this paragraph.
2) Grammar
You might think "Why do you care about grammar when you're just trying to get the reader off?" Well, while it can be easy to get some readers off, it is more difficult for many readers, and even more difficult to make it an experience worth remembering. That's like saying "A good horror game only needs jump scares to frighten a player"; while it's possible to frighten a player with jump scares, it won't for most and you need much more for people to remember it as being good.
So, how grammar ties in is similar. It's not just about the ideas and fetishes and sex going on in smut, it's also how well you are able to -convey- those ideas. The reason we have writing, or art in general, is to share an idea; to get other people to understand something, to communicate. The reason we have grammar is to best communicate the idea through writing, to have a flow of conscious comprehension that allows the idea to come together in a fluid and natural-feeling way. Bad grammar can be as jarring as repetition (repetition is actually a part of it) and can completely make the story fall flat on its face.
2) Use big words, but in restraint
A thesaurus is a great way to get around the repetition of words as above. And different words for the same thought can help add nuance to the thought, pushing it in a particular direction than if you used other words. Don't be afraid of using something that might be alien to many readers, if put in correctly, the rest of the sentence will define what the word might mean and they can continue on anyways.
However, at the same time, don't put in big words to make you feel special. Just because you know what this rare word means doesn't mean the reader gives a damn, and can come off very awkward if you didn't use the word entirely correctly. Although different words might be defined as synonyms of each other, there is a reason why they are different words to begin with; words are developed to convey slightly different ideas. "Cunt" and "pussy" might both mean "vagina", but one is traditionally more vulgar than the other and can make a scene feel more "dirty" than the other.

While a whole novel of erotica could be nice (if written really really well), a single scene that is too long can totally kill a reader's arousal. For one, longer scenes tend to run into the repetition issue more easily. For two, when a person is in the mood to read smut, they kinda want to arrive at the "climax" while they're still in the mood.
I'm not saying "short and sweet" is the key, though. Too short can have issues as well. A reader often comes into the scene hoping it will cover a certain aspect of sex and provides enough detail to really make the scene come to life in their mind. If they're getting really into the scene and suddenly the climax goes off before they were ready, that can be rather frustrating.
It's difficult to gauge between the extremes. This is where experience and proofreading really comes into play. Try reading the stories of others and get a feel for what was too long and what was too short and try to aim for something in between. Perfection probably won't be achieved (I struggle with this all the time and I've been doing this for years now), but the closer you get the less noticeable the issue becomes.
4) Emotion
This is a really tricky one. Yes, sex is often full of love and thus it's pretty easy to add emotion. But no, it's not. "Saying" there is emotion and "feeling" the emotion are very different. The former is like reading a textbook, the latter actually immerses you in it.
While you can potentially see good smut with emotion, it becomes much more difficult when you're getting into all of this fetishy stuff. Reading off a laundry list of different extraordinary body parts and special features seriously breaks the immersion. It's difficult to achieve immersion when you're dealing with something that doesn't exist in real life, especially when you're going to the extremes of such things. Yet, a reader comes to this sort of material in hopes of achieving immersion in this fantasy, in hopes of experiencing something in their mind that they can't in real life. So, this is a rather important goal when writing fetish material.
There are more emotions than just "serious love" that you can mix with smut as well.
I myself tend to slip in more humor with my smut. This is probably just personal preference, but when I think of intimacy, I prefer it to be enjoyable and light-hearted. Laughter is a wonderful thing and experiencing it with arousal provides that emotional dimension, a dimension that makes the bizarre more palatable.
I have seen other writers blend in horror and gore into their smut as well. Those... are not my cup of tea at all. I don't correlate "scared" and "disgust" with "arousal"; to me they are negative experiences that contradicts the positive. I'm sure some people some people do prefer that, for reasons I don't think I'd truly want to understand, but it's not something I'll ever want in my works.
5) Make it convincing
This applies to all smut, but especially with the fetishy stuff. Emotion is needed for immersion, as above. Yet, immersion also needs to be assisted by having a believable experience. This is why Mary Sues suck. When something in the story is so unbelievable, like having a cock the size of a house, it takes a lot for a mind to accept it. Nobody has a cock that large in the real world and even if they did, they wouldn't be able to walk or jam it into some girl's cooch.
If the story has extraordinary things, there needs to be links to the real world for a person's mind to connect to.
What makes the house-sized cock more believable? Well, there's some weight issues, so the person won't be able to move unless they're really really strong, that makes some sense. And if it was used on a girl, she would need to have a similarly gigantic pussy or she would be really really stretched (and probably break, which is icky, but you can say she is a goo girl who's really stretchy to begin with). While those additions might seem excessive to the point of having a gigantic cock, they help the reader think "yeah, this is a bit more believable, my brain can imagine how that would work".
On the other hand, don't over-complicate things in the process. If you add a mechanism to explain how there is such a big cock, such as chemical that caused hyper-active penile growth, don't delve too much into how the chemical was derived from sheep from mars that had eaten a special vegetable grown on venus. There's a point where the reader already accepted it and going further only makes it feel like a college course; "Giant Penis Growth 101". I have seen this several times where a writer has this great idea and they build up this whole world around it and they want to show off every aspect of this world and... I just don't care anymore. While adding explanations can make the story more convincing and immersive, take into account that the reader is already coming into the story with a certain degree of suspension of belief and don't need -that much-. If you do have this complicated explanation, it should somehow actually beef up other parts of the story, such as the chemical derived from giant sheep on mars who the character will eventually meet up with later in the story because they actually have vaginas big enough for him to fuck, or something.
6) The End
After a sex scene reaches climax, and hopefully the reader did too, there should be a refractory period. Things were fairly intense and while it is now time to relax, don't just cut off the scene there. Don't go on with a huge explanation afterward either, but provide some "aftermath" to the scene for the reader to calm down with and continue the immersion. Sometimes the aftermath can be the sexiest part as well. And in a game, little quirky kinky bits can help push the player back into the right mood to make them want to keep playing and hopefully achieve another climax. I'm not going to go into too much detail into this, but it was definitely something worth mentioning since this is often overlooked.
7) Roleplaying is -NOT- a Story
Don't get me wrong, a good roleplay requires good writing, but a roleplay is not a story. It is a great story if you're the one roleplaying, but other people do not like reading someone else's roleplay. Well, some people do, but a good roleplay does not make for a good short-story or book. Just because you are good are roleplaying doesn't mean you should transcribe your roleplays as stories for others to read or that you should write a story like you do a roleplay.
Roleplays and stories are two different forms of written works. I suppose you could argue that a roleplay can be a story with a special kind of discourse between characters, but you have to be super-awesome mega-writer to be able to do that in a way that a lot of people would actually care about. Otherwise, making a roleplay a story just comes off as a lazy way to write a story and screams "hey guys, I like to roleplay a lot and here's a sample so maybe we can roleplay together some time".
The Other End
Okay, that's all for now, I think. There might be other things I'll add later, but those are the major points I wanted to get through. These are what I try to expect of myself and what I hope to expect of others who may work with me. Even though you'd have to be a master to really get these down perfectly, simply keeping them in mind can make a written work many times more pleasant.

If you add a mechanism to explain how there is such a big cock, such as chemical that caused hyper-active penile growth, don't delve too much into how the chemical was derived from sheep from mars that had eaten a special vegetable grown on venus. There's a point where the reader already accepted it and going further only makes it feel like a college course; "Giant Penis Growth 101". I have seen this several times where a writer has this great idea and they build up this whole world around it and they want to show off every aspect of this world and... I just don't care anymore. While adding explanations can make the story more convincing and immersive, take into account that the reader is already coming into the story with a certain degree of suspension of belief and don't need -that much-. If you do have this complicated explanation, it should somehow actually beef up other parts of the story, such as the chemical derived from giant sheep on mars who the character will eventually meet up with later in the story because they actually have vaginas big enough for him to fuck, or something.
6) The End
After a sex scene reaches climax, and hopefully the reader did too, there should be a refractory period. Things were fairly intense and while it is now time to relax, don't just cut off the scene there. Don't go on with a huge explanation afterward either, but provide some "aftermath" to the scene for the reader to calm down with and continue the immersion. Sometimes the aftermath can be the sexiest part as well. And in a game, little quirky kinky bits can help push the player back into the right mood to make them want to keep playing and hopefully achieve another climax. I'm not going to go into too much detail into this, but it was definitely something worth mentioning since this is often overlooked.
7) Roleplaying is -NOT- a Story
Don't get me wrong, a good roleplay requires good writing, but a roleplay is not a story. It is a great story if you're the one roleplaying, but other people do not like reading someone else's roleplay. Well, some people do, but a good roleplay does not make for a good short-story or book. Just because you are good are roleplaying doesn't mean you should transcribe your roleplays as stories for others to read or that you should write a story like you do a roleplay.
Roleplays and stories are two different forms of written works. I suppose you could argue that a roleplay can be a story with a special kind of discourse between characters, but you have to be super-awesome mega-writer to be able to do that in a way that a lot of people would actually care about. Otherwise, making a roleplay a story just comes off as a lazy way to write a story and screams "hey guys, I like to roleplay a lot and here's a sample so maybe we can roleplay together some time".
The Other End
Okay, that's all for now, I think. There might be other things I'll add later, but those are the major points I wanted to get through. These are what I try to expect of myself and what I hope to expect of others who may work with me. Even though you'd have to be a master to really get these down perfectly, simply keeping them in mind can make a written work many times more pleasant.
These qualities pretty much apply to writing in general. However, despite what many writers think, it is generally more difficult to achieve these with smut than it is with other types of stories, due to the fact that you're dealing with more extreme ideas that have to tie into the reader's emotions more thoroughly to achieve the desired affect and it is more obvious when that effect is not achieved. Yet, doing these -exceptionally well- with non-smut can be even more difficult, since the emotions are less easily defined, I'll grant that :P

So, I'm pretty much moved in now, and I'm getting comfortable with the weekly routine. Work has been a bit hectic the past couple weeks, though it is a temporary thing that shouldn't go on for much longer. But anyways, I have been working on Nimin. I really only have one thing left to finish before the next release.
Fuck Jamie, though. lol. I know exactly what I'm going to do with him, and I know it will be a bit, but every time I sit down and do a few more lines for him, I get completely disinterested and stop. He's always been delaying my updates XD I don't know why... I know what would be good for him, I have something good planned for him, but for some reason I just can't seem to be interested in doing it. I think it may be because he's my first major male NPC and I just can't get myself interested because... I'm generally not interested in males. If this keeps up, I might have to ask somebody to come in and do male content for the game.
So yeah, once Jamie is finished, or at least finished enough for me to leave the rest until another update, there will be a release.

I have moved in now and am settling in rather well. I don't have my own place yet, that might take a while longer, but I'm fairly comfortable as it is. I have also started the job and things are going smoothly, not very stressful. I'm going to be changing schedules as it is, so I can't get too comfortable just yet, but the newer schedule will be better for me anyways.
As for Nimin, I'm actually looking to start doing a bit more coding this weekend. Can't do much during the week just yet, since I'll be changing schedules as I said, but things are starting to get back into gear.
As for the other game, I'm not too worried about working on it much. I actually have most of the engine written out already, it's just a matter of actually writing things up, which I'll do as I feel in the mood for them, so that won't be out for a while, if ever.

Major Change Incoming
General | Posted 12 years agotl;dr - I finally got a job, Nimin update may be delayed but is NOT canceled, also working on new smaller game to wet my palette and do some things I can't do in Nimin (though it's mostly in the concept stage now).
So, 2 weeks ago I get a message out of the blue from
sumigakifox to give them my resume. A week later, I was on a plane to go away for the weekend for an interview. Now I officially have a job offer. In a few weeks, I'll be moving many miles away and living in a big city and starting work. This... is a very large and welcome change, considering my life has been dying for the past 5 years.
What does this mean for Nimin?
This is the primary reason I made this journal, since I don't often disseminate the details of my life. And with this major change, there could potentially be some issues.
On the negative side: I'll be living in an area far from family and old friends. I'll be living in a big city instead of the rural countryside. I'll be working the late shifts. A couple of days will be long shifts. I will be working with code that is a language besides Flash. These can all potentially hinder creativity, in both allotted time available and mental fortitude.
On the positive side: I'll only be working 4 days a week. Some days I'll be working from home. I'm aiming to live in the nicer, less crowded, quieter areas so I'll be comfortable. Most importantly, I'll have a life.
I know some people might say "Hey, if you have a job, that means you'll have less time to work on Nimin! Why not just do what Fenoxo does and make the game your full time job?". Well, there's a few differences here. Fenoxo has a wife and a child. Fenoxo has actually progressed with his life. I, on the other hand, have never had a real relationship and am nowhere near having a family; I have been mostly unemployed and solitary since I graduated from college some years ago. My life has been on hold.
For the past few years, my creativity has actually declined dramatically. Clyx and all those stories were when I was still in college and shortly after. Since then, I've had to pretty much kill off portions of myself to survive. I have mostly stayed in this house, waiting until I could finally find a way to get going. The motivation to do things has been dwindling more and more, since nothing I did seemed to get anywhere. It's hard to find inspiration when your days are just the same thing over and over in the same room. NiN's music can be disturbingly accurate at times :P Nimin was actually a sudden spurt thanks to inspiration from seeing UTG, and even then the long spaces between updates over time were mostly caused by depression and trying to distract myself with video games.
But, now that I'm re-igniting parts of myself and looking forward to tomorrow, I'm feeling good again. In fact, just the prospect of this coming has already spurred me to make another game.
Yes, I'm currently working on another Flash game, mostly in the planning stages right now. No, I'm not stopping Nimin.
The new game is basically something that I've had in my head since the early inception of Nimin, but I couldn't do it because it just doesn't work in the setting or style of Nimin. Compared to Nimin, this thing is nowhere near as complex, I don't have to worry about a storyline or any actual game design issues, and it'll be relatively simplistic in what it does. Mostly, it will allow me to get these extra ideas out while allowing me to test different ways of doing things, without messing up Nimin in the process. It might only take me a couple weeks to do, though idk. It's kinda like what Poor Kimi did with my writing, except I'm not dropping Nimin like I did Clyx because Nimin isn't a giant mess like Clyx was XD
As for Nimin itself, this whole job thing kinda paused my progress towards the next update. I might be able to finish the update before I leave, though I'm not holding myself to that; if it happens it happens. Either way, I'm going to be a bit distracted with packing and moving right now, and it will probably take a month to settle in to the point that I'm comfortable enough to code after I get up there. I'll still work on it when I can, but the release will be delayed. However, it will still probably come out faster than some of those 6-month updates before XD
I still have major plans for Nimin, I just wanna do this side-bar with the other game while it's still fresh and before I use some of the tested methods in Nimin. I'll also continue doing Donation Drives in the future because, even though I might have a job, the extra funds will help me live more comfortably now that I'll actually be paying the loan bills in full along with apartment costs and food costs and etc.
Conclusion: Things are getting better and that will be reflected in my works, I hope!

The fetishes don't do anything except give the player a bit more control over how their character reacts to sexual situations, but only lust-wise. That is, the fetish stats only adjust how much lust is lost and gained from situations, it doesn't change the situations themselves at all and I have no intention of making fetishes direct how the PC reacts to situations.
I've usually been of the opinion that "your choices decide how your character reacts to the situations". You don't like women? Then don't click the "fuck that chick" button. Annoyed that your character is being raped by the gender you don't prefer? Try not to be so rapeable. The only reason I added fetishes was due to a lot of people wanting to make their character seem like themselves, and the fetishes was merely a superficial method of making that happen.
At first I thought the fetish stats might have been a good idea, another way to customize your stats so you can grind more easily. However, the more I think about it, the more excessively pointless they are. They serve no purpose except to twink characters for better stats. Otherwise, the fetishes merely add more work for me to do (I have to track all the fetishes that are within each scene) and they confuse players. Many players wonder why X still happens when the fetish is a "turn-off", despite the tutorial saying that fetishes don't really affect anything. And since I'm wanting to bring the tutorial into the game itself (so people don't have to look outside of the game), I'm looking at fetishes and I'm going "gee, why do I even have them?"
Before people mention it, no, I am still not going to make fetishes change your scenes. I already have to track different player attributes, NPC reputations, and so on when building any scene, fetishes would just make new scenes even more painstakingly complex. And with the next release (which is still a ways off), I'm going to make it clearer that Prostitution is a move of desperation, not something you can pick and choose.
So, I'm thinking about removing fetishes from the game, since they don't really serve any purpose. Would you guys be particularly opposed to that? Do you think it's a good idea? Do you have any alternatives?

1) Regarding a Wiki
-I leave the wiki-making up to the players. I have also avoided endorsing any single one, but since there seems to only be one that's active now, go here for your wiki needs (and contribute by editing it!): http://nimin.wikia.com/wiki/Nimin_Wiki
2) Regarding sex selection and gender preferences
-Sorry, but these are things I generally won't do. Gender preferences will usually fall under "If you want it, find it yourself" or "It's not up to you if this happens". For instance, if you don't want gay sex, then you'll have to try and avoid events with gay sex, but if you are thrust into gay sex, you didn't have much choice in the matter (it is a game, after all, not a dating sim). Prostitution is there for those that are desperate; I know real life prostitutes can usually choose their clients but in here you're slutting yourself for money and beggars can't be choosers. As for selecting "use cock" or "use vagoo", sometimes there will be options (with some NPCs), but often times it comes down to "which combination works best in this moment". If you have a cock and a huge clit and you're raping something, the cock takes priority because it makes more sense. If you have a cock and a vag and you're raping a female, it makes more sense to be jamming your cock in rather than scissoring. I hope this makes sense, but otherwise it would take for more work than it's worth to change it the way people like.
3) As for the Fanart and Changelogs

4) As for my writing
-Thanks! There was a lot more praise than I expected. I mostly was asking because I hadn't written any stories in a while. I usually edit stories and find where wording is terrible or something, but I've gotten to a point where I'm running on auto-edit as I write anything, and thus don't edit Nimin after I've written stuff. It's good to know my writing has degraded because of it.
5) The Knothole
-A lot of people suggested I find an outside source to finish it. I'm usually hesitant about outside sources now, but I'll try starting up a journal soon and giving people a chance again. Just a warning, I'm pretty strict about being able to write well; there's a lot of writers that have very poor experience with writing decent smut and I don't want to do more work editing your writing than it would take for me to write it myself.
6) The problem with exploring
-There is definitely an issue with exploring. The random chance results in lots of repetition of unwanted events, difficulty in trying to farm anything, and making it annoying to find anything that's rarer. However, I need the "randomness" to prevent people from farming too easily, to make unwanted encounters sometimes show up to impede your efforts, and give more of a sense of "this is why towns don't do much with each other", since the landscape is -supposed- to change. So, it needs a solution that can balance the two.

I could also make it such that the paths between towns only happen during certain hours, so if somebody really wants to cross they can time it without being interrupted and otherwise they wouldn't have to get annoyed by finding it over and over. I can also put that knowledge in the game "From your experience, you know that the path to City A appears during the hours of B and C" after you discover it. To somebody who doesn't know the times, I would imagine it would all seem pretty random anyways.
-Does this sound like a good idea? If not, do you have any alternatives?
1) Regarding a Wiki
-I leave the wiki-making up to the players. I have also avoided endorsing any single one, but since there seems to only be one that's active now, go here for your wiki needs (and contribute by editing it!): http://nimin.wikia.com/wiki/Nimin_Wiki
2) Regarding sex selection and gender preferences
-Sorry, but these are things I generally won't do. Gender preferences will usually fall under "If you want it, find it yourself" or "It's not up to you if this happens". For instance, if you don't want gay sex, then you'll have to try and avoid events with gay sex, but if you are thrust into gay sex, you didn't have much choice in the matter (it is a game, after all, not a dating sim). Prostitution is there for those that are desperate; I know real life prostitutes can usually choose their clients but in here you're slutting yourself for money and beggars can't be choosers. As for selecting "use cock" or "use vagoo", sometimes there will be options (with some NPCs), but often times it comes down to "which combination works best in this moment". If you have a cock and a huge clit and you're raping something, the cock takes priority because it makes more sense. If you have a cock and a vag and you're raping a female, it makes more sense to be jamming your cock in rather than scissoring. I hope this makes sense, but otherwise it would take for more work than it's worth to change it the way people like.
3) As for the Fanart and Changelogs
-I'll make a journal to track changelogs when I start working on the next release. And I went ahead and made a fanart account, though I only updated it as far as the current journal went and a few quick things I've been meaning to add. If you know of more, just send a message over there:

-Thanks! There was a lot more praise than I expected. I mostly was asking because I hadn't written any stories in a while. I usually edit stories and find where wording is terrible or something, but I've gotten to a point where I'm running on auto-edit as I write anything, and thus don't edit Nimin after I've written stuff. It's good to know my writing has degraded because of it.
5) The Knothole
-A lot of people suggested I find an outside source to finish it. I'm usually hesitant about outside sources now, but I'll try starting up a journal soon and giving people a chance again. Just a warning, I'm pretty strict about being able to write well; there's a lot of writers that have very poor experience with writing decent smut and I don't want to do more work editing your writing than it would take for me to write it myself.
6) The problem with exploring
-There is definitely an issue with exploring. The random chance results in lots of repetition of unwanted events, difficulty in trying to farm anything, and making it annoying to find anything that's rarer. However, I need the "randomness" to prevent people from farming too easily, to make unwanted encounters sometimes show up to impede your efforts, and give more of a sense of "this is why towns don't do much with each other", since the landscape is -supposed- to change. So, it needs a solution that can balance the two.

Donator's Pre-release Sent Out!
General | Posted 13 years agoOk, just sent out the v0.97 pre-release to donator's :) 3 days past the 2 week mark isn't too bad, I think :P
If you donated and did not get an email containing the Donator's Edition, please let me know. I have records of everybody who donated and I took the emails from there, but there's always a chance I screwed something up :P
There was quite a bit of content this time around and things meshed together pretty well ^^ It might be a bit more difficult to find some of the stuff, but as I said in the email, if you really need to know where and how to find the content you donated for, you can ask and I'll tell you. Otherwise, the public release will be out in 3 days (Friday night) and people can spoil it to each other in the comments or whatever then.
And remember things -will- be buggy. There's a lot of stuff and I used some new methods to do things, so there's plenty of room for bugginess. Plus there's the whole tauric thing and the new area and... yeah, lots of room :P Most of those will hopefully be fixed quickly when the public release gets posted ^^

Not a huge difference and I'm sure many won't mind, but I know there's going to be people waiting until the precise 2-week timer and when they don't see it will be all "Hey, where's the pre-release, yadda yadda yadda". So I'm posting this now to stem those :P
No big deal, there was just a bit more to be added than I estimated (plus it suddenly got friggan cold). Things are otherwise going rather well, I've been working on the more difficult stuff first and filling in the rest as I go. I'm pretty happy with how some of the things meshed together and I may have gone a bit overboard in fleshing out other things (I added an extra non-donated encounter to round off an area >. >). Set up some things for the future as well.
So yeah, there's no problems, just addressing the people who are bound to jump on me when exactly 2 weeks are up :P

Still got a handful of off-stream content I've gotta do over the next few days, plus more content that ties things together in a more sensible manner, probably going to take me another 2 weeks to do. However, I won't be taking anymore donation requests at this point, at least not until the next donation drive ^^
And thanks to everybody who has donated! Every single donation, no matter how big or small, is another step towards me not declaring bankruptcy ^^ XD I appreciate them all very much =3 I'll post a journal when I send out the pre-release, so you'll know when you should be checking your emails to see if you got it. Just keep in mind it might be about 2 weeks before it's sent out, so don't get too antsy just yet :)

Nimin Donation Drive II
General | Posted 13 years agoOk, with the success of the last drive, starting tomorrow, Sunday Dec 30, at around 5-6 pm EST (GMT -5), I'll be starting up another donation stream, and will do so nearly every day for the next ~2 weeks ^^
This time, I'll be utilizing the new desktop with my laptop to give you guys some more entertainment, without blowing up my laptop. In addition to the coding, I can now also have videos or music going at the same time, so you won't get bored just watching the code ^^
tl;dr
Almost every day for the next 2 weeks-ish, I'll be streaming here. While in the stream, you can donate with the option of adding something of your choice to Nimin. Such donations will be discussed via email and -when I say so-, you can donate via Paypal and I will add what you wanted to Nimin. After the drive, everything added will be released in v0.97.
Anybody who donates at least $2, whether it's to add content or not, will get a pre-released special version of v0.97, like last time.
The Details:
-For the following 2 weeks (12/30 - 1/13), I'll be doing a live stream here: link for several hours nearly every day around 5-6pm EST (GMT -5). I might not be able to do so every day, I may get interrupted, and I may end shorter or go longer, depending on how things are. I will post an "I'm Streaming" pic to FA whenever I am streaming.
-I will not have a mic or a webcam, I will just be coding and talking in the Livestream chat. However, I can now add music or music videos or videos, probably at the requests of people in the stream.
-If you are donating for content, then being in the stream is best. While I might take a couple via notes, I will mostly keep to the people who joined the stream and are readily available. First, I will ask who would like to be next and I will take a few at once. Then we will correspond via email (my email is xadera1@yahoo.com) to flesh out what will be added and "prices" will vary depending on what's being asked (see below). I'll do them in order of when the ideas get cemented, where we both agree on what's going in and how much would be donated.
-If you are donating for content, I will -tell you- when you should send the donation, after we have discussed it. If we discuss it and I didn't specifically indicate for you to donate yet, that's because I'm not yet ready to start working on it and I might not be able to right away either, depending on how the current coding is going.

If you want to donate for content, read this whole journal. Only donate -when I tell you-, after discussing the content. If you donate before that, I'll assume it's not for content and is as above.
I reserve the right to decline or refund any donations for content if either they are not something I can/will do or if they turn out to be too much for me to accomplish within a decent timeframe. Any donation content added is my own property and I reserve the right to modify/expand content as I see fit.
What I will do
-Most items. Simple consumables and the like will probably be around $5, whereas complex ones like the Milker or Penis Pump will be around $15, and even more complex ones can go higher.
-Racial transformations. You tell me what you want the transformation to include (skin, tail, etc.; images could be helpful if it's not something well known) and I'll do it. I won't do a huge amount of these and there are some restrictions as to what I can/will do. I won't make another race if it's just two degrees difference from a current race, like making a Rat when there's already a Mouse or most canines when there's already Wolves; it's kinda pointless if there's nothing really different about them besides the name, game-wise. I may or may not create new areas to put the races, but there will be no more "starting" races. Racial transformations can now have legs! With 0.96, I updated all the texts and added extra stuff to allow for leg transformations. They will likely be awkward at first and not really mean much, but I can potentially do transformations that change the legs (like making them chitinous or tauric or serpentine). I'm not sure how easy they will be, so I won't know how many I can do if anybody wants something like that.
-Simple events like cat-milk attack can be done for around $15-$40 or so, depending on how much there is to it.
-New enemies. They'll be around $25-$45 or more, depending on how complex they are. You tell me what they are, what attacks they might have (I might add more to fill/balance them out), an idea of their stats (do they hurt, are they hard to hurt, are they sexual, are they easy to rape), what their sexual preferences are (male, female, both, none), and how you'd like the rape scenes (you rape, you get raped, etc.). They can also have "special endings" when they lose or win, like the octopus girl. Generally, the more scenes needed to make them (different rape scenes, both being raped and doing the raping, for each gender, etc), the more it'll cost.
-"Special" masturbation scenes can be made starting at $10+ or so. I don't think many have noticed, but if you meet certain "prerequisites" in 0.94, there's a random chance that when you masturbate you'll get a special scene that is different from the normal kind. There aren't many of them yet, so there's plenty of room to request more. Again, the more variations (taking into account 2 different sizes of cocks x 3 different amounts of cum = 6 variations, or whatever) means a higher price.
-Many other things that I can't think up off the top of my head. As long as they aren't listed under the "won'ts" below and wouldn't take me days to do, I'll likely be interested in doing them.
What I won't do
-Complex and long events with special characters, like Malon or Silandrias. Not that I don't want to do more, it's that they can take several days to complete and would cost a lot if I were going to spend that much time doing them for you.
-Scat, gore, fat, or overly aged people (the wrinkly kind). Scat also includes flatulence and urination, gore also includes vore (anybody being digested or "vanishing from existence" is a no-no). Fat isn't a huge no, since chubby is cute too, but I don't want to get into weight gain and that stuff with the game and I want to stay away from the rolls upon rolls. Old people, well... I think that's a given XD
-"Mary Sue" characters in events. "Mary Sue" means the characters are some sort of "special" with very little dimension or interest to anybody outside of that character's owner. If you need more info, look up "Mary Sue" in Wikipedia. So, if you want an event with a fallen angel that is depressed and has all these woes yet is somehow super-powerful and godlike, you may want to rethink it XD
-Anything that takes way too long for you to even explain it to me. If it's that complicated, it'll probably be too difficult for me to put in XD
How to Donate
-If you're looking to get something added to the game, you have to be in the stream and wait until I prompt you to send the donation in an email. You'll have to let me know which Paypal account you're sending it through, so I know you have sent the donation.
-If you just want to donate money without wanting to add something to the game, you can donate whenever you want ^^ If you donate at least $2, you'll still get a special build as below to the email you sent it from (unless you want it to go elsewhere, see below).
-Send the donation as a "Gift" via Paypal to xadera1[at]yahoo.com (in USD). Please do not put anything in the "note" section or whatever, unless otherwise as below. It'll highly help me from being confused XD
-Donations eligible for the special build, if the special build is happening, will have the special build sent back to the email the Paypal was sent from. What you get
-If you donated to have something added to the game, you'll have whatever it was added to the game. I'll have a list of who added what and if you donated for the event, you can Note me here on FA and I will tell you exactly where and how to get/do whatever it is you wanted. Otherwise, I'll be secretive so that you and others can explore and discover it ^^
-Everything added from donations will be released to the public in Nimin v0.97. Of course, I'll have no idea how much will be added until the drive is over. After the drive, it'll be a few days to build and fix any kinks.
-If you donate at least $2, I will be sending out a special pre-release build of v0.97 to you a few days in advance of the public release. In addition to being early, any characters you create with the build will have all items added from the donations (potentially a stack of certain items, depending if they're stackable and consumable). Granted, this version will be buggy as hell I'm sure, but you can save them and load them into a non-buggy public release later. However, there is a chance nobody will donate to add items to the game, and if there are no items added, I might toss a thing or two in myself and you'll still get it early.
-All things added to Nimin from the donation drive will be listed in a soon-to-be-created journal (I'll be replacing that part with a link once it's started) so everybody will have a vague idea what will be added (minus the name of the donator who added it; for privacy sake I'll be keeping that to myself). The list won't be too descriptive, just a simple "A new consumable item has been added" or "A new racial transformation has been added". So, if you're unsure you want the special build above, you can wait to see what has been added to see if it's worth it.

This time, I'll be utilizing the new desktop with my laptop to give you guys some more entertainment, without blowing up my laptop. In addition to the coding, I can now also have videos or music going at the same time, so you won't get bored just watching the code ^^
tl;dr
Almost every day for the next 2 weeks-ish, I'll be streaming here. While in the stream, you can donate with the option of adding something of your choice to Nimin. Such donations will be discussed via email and -when I say so-, you can donate via Paypal and I will add what you wanted to Nimin. After the drive, everything added will be released in v0.97.
Anybody who donates at least $2, whether it's to add content or not, will get a pre-released special version of v0.97, like last time.
The Details:
-For the following 2 weeks (12/30 - 1/13), I'll be doing a live stream here: link for several hours nearly every day around 5-6pm EST (GMT -5). I might not be able to do so every day, I may get interrupted, and I may end shorter or go longer, depending on how things are. I will post an "I'm Streaming" pic to FA whenever I am streaming.
-I will not have a mic or a webcam, I will just be coding and talking in the Livestream chat. However, I can now add music or music videos or videos, probably at the requests of people in the stream.
-If you are donating for content, then being in the stream is best. While I might take a couple via notes, I will mostly keep to the people who joined the stream and are readily available. First, I will ask who would like to be next and I will take a few at once. Then we will correspond via email (my email is xadera1@yahoo.com) to flesh out what will be added and "prices" will vary depending on what's being asked (see below). I'll do them in order of when the ideas get cemented, where we both agree on what's going in and how much would be donated.
-If you are donating for content, I will -tell you- when you should send the donation, after we have discussed it. If we discuss it and I didn't specifically indicate for you to donate yet, that's because I'm not yet ready to start working on it and I might not be able to right away either, depending on how the current coding is going.
Donating Details:
Donations will only be accepted through Paypal. Send the donation via Paypal to xadera1@yahoo.com. Please do not put anything in the "note" section or whatever. The only exception is if you want the pre-release to be sent to an email other than your Paypal email, in which case put -only- the desired email address in the note field. It'll highly help me from being confused XD
You can donate at any time if just want to appreciate my efforts or help my financial needs. These donations are very much appreciated! Even if you didn't want anything in return, I'll still be sending you a pre-release if you donate more than $2!
If you want to donate for content, read this whole journal. Only donate -when I tell you-, after discussing the content. If you donate before that, I'll assume it's not for content and is as above.
I reserve the right to decline or refund any donations for content if either they are not something I can/will do or if they turn out to be too much for me to accomplish within a decent timeframe. Any donation content added is my own property and I reserve the right to modify/expand content as I see fit.
What I will do
-Most items. Simple consumables and the like will probably be around $5, whereas complex ones like the Milker or Penis Pump will be around $15, and even more complex ones can go higher.
-Racial transformations. You tell me what you want the transformation to include (skin, tail, etc.; images could be helpful if it's not something well known) and I'll do it. I won't do a huge amount of these and there are some restrictions as to what I can/will do. I won't make another race if it's just two degrees difference from a current race, like making a Rat when there's already a Mouse or most canines when there's already Wolves; it's kinda pointless if there's nothing really different about them besides the name, game-wise. I may or may not create new areas to put the races, but there will be no more "starting" races. Racial transformations can now have legs! With 0.96, I updated all the texts and added extra stuff to allow for leg transformations. They will likely be awkward at first and not really mean much, but I can potentially do transformations that change the legs (like making them chitinous or tauric or serpentine). I'm not sure how easy they will be, so I won't know how many I can do if anybody wants something like that.
-Simple events like cat-milk attack can be done for around $15-$40 or so, depending on how much there is to it.
-New enemies. They'll be around $25-$45 or more, depending on how complex they are. You tell me what they are, what attacks they might have (I might add more to fill/balance them out), an idea of their stats (do they hurt, are they hard to hurt, are they sexual, are they easy to rape), what their sexual preferences are (male, female, both, none), and how you'd like the rape scenes (you rape, you get raped, etc.). They can also have "special endings" when they lose or win, like the octopus girl. Generally, the more scenes needed to make them (different rape scenes, both being raped and doing the raping, for each gender, etc), the more it'll cost.
-"Special" masturbation scenes can be made starting at $10+ or so. I don't think many have noticed, but if you meet certain "prerequisites" in 0.94, there's a random chance that when you masturbate you'll get a special scene that is different from the normal kind. There aren't many of them yet, so there's plenty of room to request more. Again, the more variations (taking into account 2 different sizes of cocks x 3 different amounts of cum = 6 variations, or whatever) means a higher price.
-Many other things that I can't think up off the top of my head. As long as they aren't listed under the "won'ts" below and wouldn't take me days to do, I'll likely be interested in doing them.
What I won't do
-Complex and long events with special characters, like Malon or Silandrias. Not that I don't want to do more, it's that they can take several days to complete and would cost a lot if I were going to spend that much time doing them for you.
-Scat, gore, fat, or overly aged people (the wrinkly kind). Scat also includes flatulence and urination, gore also includes vore (anybody being digested or "vanishing from existence" is a no-no). Fat isn't a huge no, since chubby is cute too, but I don't want to get into weight gain and that stuff with the game and I want to stay away from the rolls upon rolls. Old people, well... I think that's a given XD
-"Mary Sue" characters in events. "Mary Sue" means the characters are some sort of "special" with very little dimension or interest to anybody outside of that character's owner. If you need more info, look up "Mary Sue" in Wikipedia. So, if you want an event with a fallen angel that is depressed and has all these woes yet is somehow super-powerful and godlike, you may want to rethink it XD
-Anything that takes way too long for you to even explain it to me. If it's that complicated, it'll probably be too difficult for me to put in XD
How to Donate
-If you're looking to get something added to the game, you have to be in the stream and wait until I prompt you to send the donation in an email. You'll have to let me know which Paypal account you're sending it through, so I know you have sent the donation.
-If you just want to donate money without wanting to add something to the game, you can donate whenever you want ^^ If you donate at least $2, you'll still get a special build as below to the email you sent it from (unless you want it to go elsewhere, see below).
-Send the donation as a "Gift" via Paypal to xadera1[at]yahoo.com (in USD). Please do not put anything in the "note" section or whatever, unless otherwise as below. It'll highly help me from being confused XD
-Donations eligible for the special build, if the special build is happening, will have the special build sent back to the email the Paypal was sent from. If you do not want the build sent to your Paypal email, leave a note in the donation either indicating another email you would like it sent to with "Send to me@here.com" or if you don't want it at all, just say "Do not want".
What you get
-If you donated to have something added to the game, you'll have whatever it was added to the game. I'll have a list of who added what and if you donated for the event, you can Note me here on FA and I will tell you exactly where and how to get/do whatever it is you wanted. Otherwise, I'll be secretive so that you and others can explore and discover it ^^
-Everything added from donations will be released to the public in Nimin v0.97. Of course, I'll have no idea how much will be added until the drive is over. After the drive, it'll be a few days to build and fix any kinks.
-If you donate at least $2, I will be sending out a special pre-release build of v0.97 to you a few days in advance of the public release. In addition to being early, any characters you create with the build will have all items added from the donations (potentially a stack of certain items, depending if they're stackable and consumable). Granted, this version will be buggy as hell I'm sure, but you can save them and load them into a non-buggy public release later. However, there is a chance nobody will donate to add items to the game, and if there are no items added, I might toss a thing or two in myself and you'll still get it early.
-All things added to Nimin from the donation drive will be listed in a soon-to-be-created journal (I'll be replacing that part with a link once it's started) so everybody will have a vague idea what will be added (minus the name of the donator who added it; for privacy sake I'll be keeping that to myself). The list won't be too descriptive, just a simple "A new consumable item has been added" or "A new racial transformation has been added". So, if you're unsure you want the special build above, you can wait to see what has been added to see if it's worth it.

Heads up about Nimin

Just kidding, just kidding XD I still have no plans of ending Nimin anytime in the foreseeable future :P I just wanted to pull some legs, considering quite a few people are quick to assume I'm dead or given up, even though I've said time and time again that I'll mention if I have any plans to stop.
Pretty much planning on a release next week. It won't be as huge as what would be expected for this long break between releases, but it's finally getting somewhere.
Sorry I didn't get it out earlier like I said in the previous journal, but I ran into issues. Got sick, laptop power cord died, Halloween events in games, got sick again...
Like I mentioned in the previous journal, with all the crap, I've been binging pretty hard on games. Oh so many games I've gone through, trying to get back into the "mindset" I had years ago, when I was more hopeful and creative and whatnot. And though it's been detrimental to the immediate progress of the game, it's actually proven quite a boon, moreso than I realized since the last journal (Legend of Grimrock was a surprisingly awesome game, really brought me back to my DnD years). I have been considering where to go with the Nimin storyline, and through the games and movies and all this creative crap, some ideas have been sparking up that would be wonderful for this kind of game. As for those thinking 1.0 will have a "complete" game, that's not the case here. When Nimin hits 1.0, it basically means I'm happy enough with the starting areas and from there updates will be expanding towards storyline and more exploration.
And most importantly, I've finally figured out what to do with the equan boy. I realized it wasn't the anal sex that was holding me back from him. In fact, much of the reason I've had trouble getting into coding altogether is because I needed to finish him, but anything I came up with just somehow felt wrong and forced. It's pretty essential to the game to finally have a male you can have a relationship with and without something that didn't feel half-assed, I couldn't progress with the game at all. But as of a couple weeks ago, I finally figured out something that worked, wasn't too complicated, and would be interesting for the player, so I've finally been able to move forward. I don't know if he'll be fully completed (as far as I have planned so far) before the release next week though; I still plan on releasing if he isn't, even though he's the majority of the content added which isn't much.
Around one week after the release (time to fix any bugs), I'll be starting up another donation drive. The last one was a great way to add more content and the game could really use more, plus it'll help relieve some financial tension. This time, however, I'm going to go more slowly with it and spread it out over more than just a week, so I don't burn myself out so much. I'll post another journal when that happens, though I don't know if I'll wait until after Christmas to start it or not. I'm also unsure if I want to potentially have different things you can donate for, like bidding towards having a larger event created or setting a list of things I have planned that you can donate to have more immediately or something else. Feel free to mention anything you'd particularly like to donate for, if it's not something that's already an option from last time. Also, if I did have a large event, it would be restricted to only one, since it takes quite a bit of planning and coding to manage them, and that's if I think it's appropriate for the donation drive.

State of the Nimin Again!

After the whole donation drive thing, I managed to get a bit more coding done, but gosh was I burnt out. It felt like all my creativity had been sucked out through a silly straw. The whole job thing fell through (again), there was a family cancer scare, and some other issues, and overall I fell into a bit of a depression. Eventually started binging on games and just letting myself not worry about anything for a while. I attempted to get back into coding every now and then, but it was generally unsuccessful. Over the past month I also got back into TF2 trading, since it's a nice brain exercise for me, and now I'm weaning back off of it.
I've been trying to get back into coding more recently, but I'm still having some difficulty getting into it. I know what I wanna do with Jamie, and I also brainstormed a lot of other things that will get Nimin into a sort of storyline, but I also have issues actually writing out Jamie's scenes. I think I fear getting to the anal part a bit :P
That all being said, I should be really getting back into it all soon. I've done a few exercises in writing for long periods of time, so I'll be used to that again. I've also had my hands off Nimin long enough that things should feel somewhat fresh as I ease back into it. Next update might not be for a few more weeks to a month, but it's coming.
And after that update, I think I'll be having another donation drive. While the previous one had a specific cause (getting a new computer), this one will be more to get some funds to keep living. But, even besides that, I found that the first donation drive really helped drive me forward, it gave me a concrete cause with a concrete reward and allowed for a lot of ideas that weren't spawned by myself to be introduced into the game, pretty win win all around. I'll probably spread the drive out for a slightly longer period though, so I don't burn myself out again. And from there I think I will alternate between my content and drive content, since non-drive time allows me to build up consistency or focus on bigger events. Though that's all getting a bit ahead of myself, just something to keep in mind.
On another note, I have had to remove the pre-0.95 version files of Nimin from the site for reasons I won't get into. I simply removed the files themselves, but not the submission pages, so I can still access the comments and stats of those submissions. And right below the empty file box I explicitly state the file was removed and that people should play the newest version. And yet there have been a surprisingly large number of people asking why they can't play the game...

If you did not receive the email even though you should have, let me know. I had a bit of difficulty getting alllll those emails in there, so it is possible I accidentally missed one. Otherwise I have all the emails via Paypal and my own documentation should I need to send you another ^^

Sorry it took a few days longer than planned ^^; I ran into some delays... I built the computer over the weekend, but in the process I sliced open the tips of a couple fingers on some metal. Blood everywhere, had to put on big bandages, and had to get my brother to help put the rest of it together XD Afterward, it was kinda really hard to type with my fingertips bandaged and stung too much without the bandages. And then I burned another fingertip from a bagel, damn toaster XD And then I heard clicking by my HDDs, thought it was my new one, and so I turned everything off and opened it up. There was an inch-long firefly sitting on the PSU and was thwapping the HDD enclosure with its butt as a defensive measure against the vibration. I tried to get it out, but it ran into the brand new PSU. I frantically unplugged everything, pulled the PSU out, and waited a few hours for the bug to come out so I wouldn't fry it and my PSU with it x.x Then I had to put everything back in, and eventually I was back on track...
Just an interesting series of unfortunate events, I guess XD But, it's sent out now for your enjoyment ^^
As for everybody else, v0.95 won't be released for another 3 days, since the donators get it early. There may be intervening issues though, I'm currently talking with FA admins about certain things... But I might figure something out before then and be on track. Edit: Sorry, but I will not be mentioning anything about the admins until I know more about what's going on. I don't wanna start a riot XD
