This is a very very belated journal... I'm apparently a professional procrastinator! I initially wanted to do this after AC, then I got distracted, then work happened, then EF... D:

So, this dragon has been touring a little! Confuzzled, then Califur, then Anthrocon, and finally Eurofurence! It's been a blast. AC maybe a bit less so, but that's because I did it wrong :P

But this journal is really a shout and a huge thank you to a bunch of people. I shall go in time order, cause it's just easier that way :P

A first one goes to Grimm. You're awesome! And snuggly! And I really enjoyed chatting with you and all. :) And Bigwig, which is one of the best and cuddliest roomies I've ever had :D

Moving over to USA... SmashWolf and Tyce, and everyone at Smash Mountain... how do I even begin to thank you? You guys basically made half of my USA trip possible at all. It's been amazing being there.

Officially, he's the head of a stonemasons' guild. Very few people know it's only a cover-up for more shady activities.

Reaching he position of power he currently occupies.

Strangely enough, one of the things he regrets the most is not having found a companion to share his life with.

What's your character's sexual preference? If bi, which way do they lean? Any kinks?
He's gay; as far as kinks go, he likes to play the submissive role in bondage-y stuff… which is quite a conflicting thing with the rest of his personality.

What does your character think of his/her life?
He's pretty satisfied with his life so far. However, having devoted the most part of his life to running 'the business', he's obsessed by it; you could say that his organization controls him just as much as he controls the organization.

What does your character have worth living for? Power.

What would be an ideal and/or meaningful death for your character?
Death is not part of his plans - it just means he's failed. There's no meaningful nor ideal way for him to go. That is, unless he happens to find the life companion he'd like to have.

Physical description
Loric is an arctic fox in his mid-thirties, around six feet tall. Due to his species, his fur is almost entirely white; his eyes are icy blue, they seem almost grayish at times. He's not muscley, but he keeps his body in good shape.

Background
Loric was born in a rather powerful family. This made his early years surprisingly easy compared to other youngsters in Shrad; not being compelled to fight for his own survival, his father provided him the opportunity to get a good, albeit strange, education. Loric is therefore quite learned. However, he doesn't make a show about it, as he knows that mediocre people are perceived as a lesser threat.

Despite being the offspring of a wealthy family, Loric is most certainly not lazy. In his mid-to-late teens, his father showed him the real source of their wealth. Their official status as leaders of a stonemasons' guild is actually a cover for a way more shady business: smuggling, trafficking people, contract killing, "whatever you want as long as you can pay".
Certain caravans that leave Shrad act as a cover for goods that could be considered illegal at their destinations, from drugs to slaves to rare dwarven weapons; hitmen get hired with surprising regularity, and a number of them even had to 'take care' of people not living in Shrad.
Later his father, explaining the reason behind certain strange quirks in his education, told him that "every brainless thug out there can kill a person or steal something. But it takes a lot of knowledge and subtlety to keep a thing like this running".

An event that had a strong effect on Loic's personality happened a few years later, in his early twenties.
By that time, Loric was already used to everything that went on in 'the business', as they used to call it. Death (that is, another person's death) became simply "hey, there's a new job for you" and slavery became simply having to deal with a cumbersome package, which also had the additional nuisance that it had to be kept alive in the meanwhile.
On a trip to the city of Myrh, he had to assist to some rituals at the local temple; despite being used to it, this left Loric with a deep fascination for death, a fascination that (due to his background) quickly turned into a morbid attraction - again, we're talking about other people's death.

Because of that, Loric ended up doing a couple simple 'jobs' personally, much to the dismay of his father, who wanted his son not to expose himself that much. The discussion that followed was extremely harsh, ending with his father threatening him not to put the business at risk with his behavior, and forbidding him to do such a thing ever again.

Now Loric is in his mid-thirties, and he is slowly taking his father's place, who knows better than trying to resist an ambitious son.
He's never gotten his hands dirty again after that discussion with his father; however, he takes good care of his body and he's physically fit, as he trains regularly.

Loric joined the group headed towards Zion as a representative for the part of the city that is under his family's protection. However, he's not really interested in finding out what happened to the other representatives, nor in reaching a full-scale peace resolution towards other cities.
His primary concern is to try and keep the status quo as far as political climate is concerned, and to see if there are any possibilities of expanding his organization's area of influence to Zion too.

Plot Hook: Twisted - his attraction to death has faded during the years, but it hasn't gone away. He still has a macabre interest towards it, and despite his efforts to hide that, it still shows through when someone brings up the topic.

So, here I am, back from the absolutely wonderful time that Eurofurence 16 was. I don't know where to begin. What can I say?

Oh, of course. First things first, even if it's not really EF-related: children.
Maybe you'll say that I'm a cynical bastard, but after you've sat five hours at an airport because your first plane was delayed and you lost your connection flight, well, I assure you - the last thing you want is a goddamned quasi-human thingie screaming and yelling and crying in the seat right in front of you... for the whole duration of the flight.
I swear, airline companies should check whether you're able to keep your fucking child calm for an hour or so, and in case you're not, they should issue tranquilizer guns to those nearby. Loaded with something powerful enough to take down an elephant in a matter of seconds, if possible.

My mind works just like this. I have an extremely low tolerance for children, and being stuck in there, even if it was only one hour... well, you can't possibly imagine how many creative/cruel/gruesome/whatever death scenarios I've come up for him.

Now that I got that out of my way... EF16!
Well, it was awesome, plain and simple.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the hotel - but I'm probably biased. When I went to my first EF last year, it was the third time the Ringberg was hosting the con, while this is the first approach that EF has with the Maritim. Things will probably be smoothed out next year.
Now, if only they could grow a mountain under the Maritim and make it stand on top of it, surrounded by forests, majestic in its loneliness... :)

I greatly enjoyed both the Pawpet Show and the Fursuit Theatre. I... Both those shows had the ability to push quite a number of buttons deep inside me. That feeling of tightness and having a burden on your chest, it was so strong and powerful that it was almost painful to bear. I really, really had to force myself not to cry...

On the other hand, this year's Stage Fever looked a bit... forced, strained to me. Apparently there were quite a number of last-minute dropouts. Anyway, some of the performances were really good.

I also made a fool of myself at the dances, both in fursuit and outside. I don't care. I'm a metalhead, dammit, I normally don't jump around listening to techno/hardcore/IDK crap.

I attended pretty much every event hosted by Uncle Kage and/or 2 The Ranting Gryphon. I just love 'em. And Meyou did a great job in introducing the Kage vs 2 event with the "fifty euros NOW!" thing that happened last year :)

As usual, the Dealers' Den is pretty much a black hole as far as money is concerned. I tried to avoid it as much as possible, but I've managed to spend quite some money anyway. And I didn't get a copy of Rukis' comic Cruelty D:

After EF I went to the unofficial party that Kage organized at the Ringberg, last year's hotel. We were 30 or so people, and it was really nice and cozy. Fun thing, almost half of us were fursuiters. We annoyed and/or amused quite an amount of people which were playing bingo by wandering around in suit. (And other ways too, probably).

The Ringberg staff was really nice in seeing us again. Kage negotiated with the manager for our dinner, because we weren't really expected; and they pulled out of nowhere this "Euro Furry Special" cocktail at a nice price just because we were there.
We really did feel welcome :)

It is likely that next year there will be another unofficial event at the Ringberg - or, as we called it, a second Suhl Furmeet. Kage's mother explicitly told him that she wants to do it again, so he hasn't really that much of a choice.
He actually was kind of afraid that he's stuck himself in a mess. Running Anthrocon, and now having to run another meet in Germany...

As we all said, this is how a furry convention begins. Uncle Kage, don't even try to make us believe that you didn't know what you were putting yourself into :)

Xar Krievaash - 22 year-ish, male, dragon.

Xar has just finished his studies as engineer, and he is quite gifted with many things electronic, due to his schooling and liking the subject even before that.

He also likes guns. He had a few chances to shoot something real, and he knows a bit about ballistics and how they work. Not a sniper by any means, but he can manage fairly enough with a scope... or a shotgun when things get up close and personal.

He is currently without a stable job, and he pretty much accepts every chance to work to pay off his place's rent. Xar also plays guitar in a metal band, and he dreams of being able to be a professional musician.

He's quite shy, likes to be among his friends but usually ends up staying silent most of the time; he does remember quite well what people say.
Xar doesn't really trust random people, and he's very pessimistic when he has to rely on strangers. Friends, on the other hand, are held in very high regard.

He is very slow to anger and can tolerate much, but he does not forget about those who can actually manage to drive him over the edge. When that happens, he isn't one for yelling or fighting; he's more one for a carefully planned vengeance.
However, despite that and his stereotypical metalhead look he is a kind person, and really values small gestures - a quick hug, a pat on a shoulder, a wing draped over someone. But this is a lesser known part of him, as he tries to hide it: he feels safer when people think of him as a "stereotypical metalhead".

Xar hasn't got a mate, is bi leaning heavily towards males, but he is still in the closet. He was refused by the only person he ever asked, but that person still has a special place deep in Xar's heart.

About sex, Xar has got a vivid fantasy about being completely tied up and offering his whole body to a caring, trustworthy partner.

Everything said, he feels ok about his life. He hates having to bounce from one job to another, but he's got two or three close friends that mean a lot to him. Plus there's always the occasional gig which gives him the chance to show off with his guitar and really brighten up his days.

Xar is an anthro winged blue dragon, around 6 feet tall and not very muscular. He doesn't really care about what people think of his appearance; it isn't uncommon for him to have a job interview while wearing jeans, chains and some band t-shirt.

Plot-hook: mythological, and also the guy who can make things work. Xar loves things that are technology-driven, and knows how to use and abuse them, from creating a bomb detonator with an old oven timer to try and shut down some security system to enter a safe facility.
