Watcher Appreciation Day on Twitch?
Posted 2 years agoAs some of you know, I have a tiny Twitch stream that I run on Tuesdays at 7pm EST.
I'm thinking of running a monthly thing where I select one watcher on this account as my victi---- I mean, subject, and draw some sort of art featuring their character during my stream, on the last Tuesday of the month.
The size would be smallish, and I get to choose what sort of art thing it is (portrait, full body, what medium I use, etc). All art will be pg-13 or pg rated.
Obviously I'd ask permission before drawing anything.
Wot say you lot?

Goodbye WTF - Hello Queue
Posted 8 years agoI've been absent from this site for too long. I have to get back into the habit of posting things.
Back from the last installment of WTF. It was a great convention and I'm going to miss it. My best and thanks to all who helped run it and gave us all such good memories.
And now... the queue.

Back from Canfurence - new queue!
Posted 9 years agoBack from Canfurence. It was a great convention and it was kinda weird to have one so close to home for a change (a good weird though). It was wonderful to hang out with Sandy and Heather, who kindly shared their room with me again.
Thank you to everyone who purchased commissions. I've got the queue sorted out and will be contacting folks soon for info.

Posted 9 years agoSorry for my absence around here. We had a family emergency and it knocked everyone for a loop.
My Mum hasn't been well - not completely so - for a long time now. Things came to a head and she ended up in hospital. She was diagnosed with "marginal non hodgkin's lymphoma" and a severe bowel blockage. We darn near lost her. On the positive side she had excellent surgeons and we got the blockage sorted out. The cancer is treatable and has a high rate of remission.
I've spent the last week down in Belleville and Trenton. We've got her home now and she can walk to the bathroom by herself with the aid of a walker. She can go at quite a clip. She's painfully thin and needs fattening but she's already showing signs of recovery. It's going to take time and we're not out of the woods entirely yet.
I'm back home in Kanata again. I'm going to take a day or so off then resume commission work. Sorry again for any delays.

Delays due to family emergency
Posted 9 years agoJust to let everyone know what's up, I'm in the middle of a family emergency (I'm fine and so is Chall). I've mailed out all finished work except for two pieces, where I'm completing other commissions for the same clients. I won't be able to update much as I'm heading out of town tomorrow. I'm hoping to be back early next week but it will depend on a few unknowns at the moment.

I imagine most of you have heard about my adventures with WTF this year. If you haven't, lemmie tell ya how it went.
I bought my tickets for the Greyhound bus about a month early. I verified the date and time on more occassions than I care to think about, 'cause I'm paranoid I'll louse up. Chall and I arrived about half an hour early, again, paranoia. It was supposed to come at 8:35 pm - the only bus leaving Kanata to Montreal. It didn't come.
At around 8:45 we called around. Nobody answered at any terminals near us. We did get through to the center helpline and were assured that the bus was just late - our tickets were good and all was correct.
9:10 rolls around. Getting paranoid (there's that word again) I call the local taxi company to see if they could take us to the main terminal to make our 10 pm connection. At that point, as there was construction in Ottawa, they couldn 't promise it.
9:30 we call the helpline again.
The bus had been "canceled". No warning, just, no bus.
The lady on the phone happily suggested that I could apply for a refund and buy another ticket for the next day... before I could sort this out she "accidentally" cut me off".
We called a taxi and went home.
I called Sandy and Heather. My roomies who were already at the hotel. Mercifully we always put everyone's names on the room. I explained that I wouldn't be able to attend WTF and offered to pay my share of the room anyway. Sandy said not to worry about it and we'd sort it all out later.
I emailed Kanthara the next day, explaining why I wouldn't be at the con and apologising for leaving them in the lurch like this. I wasn't worried about the table cost at this point.
Half an hour later I noticed an email from Kanthara. Arc had volunteered to come back FROM Montreal and drive us there.
I frantically made sure nothing wasn't unpacked, emailed and phoned about, got our cat sitter back on track and several hours later was bombing down the highway to the con.
I lost one day but I don't care. It was wonderful to see everyone again. And I can't say how awesome everyone was.
Kanthara, for running interference and holding the table for me.
Arc, for volunteering out of the kindness of his heart to come get us (did I mention he'd driven FROM Ottawa to Montreal already, then came back again to Kanata? He did. He's my hero right now.)
And Sandy and Heather for insisting that Chall and I didn't pay for the friday hotel stay we'd missed (they wouldn't take no for an answer on this. They are beyond awesome).
Outsiders can say what they want about Furries, through this fandom I've met the best people I've ever had the honor of meeting.

FE was great
Posted 9 years agoBack from FE and had a wonderful time. However con crud has hit me harder than I expected. I can't post the queue today like I promised. I will try to get it posted tomorrow - I haven't forgotten any of my kind commissioners!
Heading to Furnal Equinox Tomorrow!
Posted 9 years agoOnce again I'll be in the Dealer's Den at FE! I'm heading to Toronto tomorrow, checking into the hotel and hopefully setting up the next day.
I've got some new stuff to test out, some convention deals and my usually products and art to sell. As always I'll be taking commissions too.
I always get horrible stage fright before every con, and this is no exception. Right now I'm in "I Have Forgotten to Pack All the Things" stage, in spite of spending most of the day actually packing all the things.
I'm looking forward to spending time with Sandy and Heather, and seeing folks that have become good friends over the years.
See you there!

I always get horrible stage fright before every con, and this is no exception. Right now I'm in "I Have Forgotten to Pack All the Things" stage, in spite of spending most of the day actually packing all the things.
I'm looking forward to spending time with Sandy and Heather, and seeing folks that have become good friends over the years.

The Big Move Happens!
Posted 10 years agoThis Saturday is the Big Move to Ottawa (okay, Kanata, which is a bump on the end of Ottawa but apparently still counts).
Got the apartment, got the packing done, got the movers coming, got my ride sorted...and I suddenly feel like a 5 year old again. I do not do well with change. And this is a big one. I've lived at my old addy for 16 years and in this town pretty much my entire life.
HOWEVER people do seem to be able to live in Ottawa. They've got running water and everything! :D I'm sure I can do this thing. I just want a day without boxing stuff up or taking stuff out of boxes.
Soon. Very soon.

Sadly I will not be at Fan Expo, as I'm still here in Peterborough, cleaning, packing, and getting ready for the local Phantasm rpg convention at the same time. No set plans on when we make the Big Move to the Big Smoke yet.

Extremely Scree: We're Moving
Posted 10 years agoAbout three weeks ago my SO Chall was laid off from work, and with that went our primary source of income. We were in a pretty good spot however so we weren't homeless or anything but, well, it's a worry.
The good news is that Chall found a good job again (with many thanks to our amazing friends who put in the good word for him) and he starts in a week or so.
The bad news is that it means moving to Kanata, which is part of Ottawa, and away from my hometown of Peterborough.
It's not all bad news. Kanata/Ottawa I hear is a great place. It's hardly like we're moving to the moon. It's hard to say goodbye though. I've gotten pretty comfortable here in Peterpatch. It means finding new bus routes, a new print shop (I think I've found a place that will do everything I need already), new art stores, new everything.
Chall will be going on ahead to start work and look for an apartment for us. I'll be here to pack up and sort out things for the move. We can do this. We (supposedly) are adults and this is not an insurmountable challenge.
And our cats are coming with us. That is not negotiable. I will still attend FE and WTF conventions. I will probably start doing the Ottawa Comiccon. We can still come to Peterpatch to do Phantasm in September if we can bunk with a friend for the weekend.
It means Chall and I will be apart from each other for one or even two months, which will suck le Grande Banan, but he can come home some weekends and there's always the faithful computer. We will live through this too.
So... anyone out there living in Kanata/Ottawa? Sing out, 'cause eventually I'm gonna be your new neighbour. Great Ghu help us all.
