Insulting Comments
Posted 12 years agoYou know I can understand not thinking my art is worth 30 dollars for three poses in a single picture. You're all allowed to have an opinion, However I will delete any post that says something like that on posts I'm actually trying to make money on. Considering the factor that it actually to me and several others IS worth the money. considering the factor that a lot of artists of my status charges a great deal MORE than what I do, and since there was three pictures in there I was technically selling them 10 dollars a piece. also note, that most of the art in my gallery are not the most expensive of my commissions. I can go anywhere from a simple sketch to semi-realism on my art. Most people don't and can't pay for my best, and that's understandable.
Its insulting to me because of the factor that someone would have the ego to jump onto my post and comment where I'm trying to make money that I actually NEED and say "the quality of your art isn't worth 30 dollars"You know I've been accused of tracing, and stealing before, NONE of those posts were removed, because I know I'm not a tracer and so does everyone else who's ever bought a commission from me. BUT if someone's going to outright make an offensive post in which I think was just a strategy to talk me down in price I'm not going to tolerate. I've NEVER have a dissatisfied customer and I'm proud of my art. The rate at which I have in fact improved is actually more than I typically show, and you know I'm most understanding of that. But like if you go to Walmart and yell "THIS SHIT AIN'T WORTH IT!" They're going to throw you out same as me. If you don't want to buy it then don't but keep your egotistical opinions to yourself please. I would have probably left it as it stood if it even said WHY they THOUGHT it wasn't worth it, but "The Quality" isn't a viable reason. Display something specific like the shading or background something that actually makes sense and I'll fix it.
But there's only ONE reason someone'd say exactly what they said is because they want it, but they want it cheaper. I don't play that game, If you can't afford that I have cheaper commissions.
Admitted I should probably update my commissions pages with the newer arts and should probably make better examples.
In my deals you get the amount of quality and effort based on what you pay and I know my art is in fact cheaper than most people would be able to pay if they'd go for someone with 20,000 watches. I've seen some people charge roughly 75 dollars for some art that U could literally do in the time frame of a day two tops.
As far as quality ask ANYONE who commissions me. They'll tell you if there's something you don't like in your picture I'll go back and change it. I'll keep dong it until you're satisfied.
I stand by what I say if you're not interested I'm not going to fight to change that, but you NEVER insult my quality EVER! You can keep those opinions in your pockets.

Comic
Posted 12 years agoSo I'm sure everyone's been wondering why my comic hasn't been continued yet. I apologize for that! I do one to make it official that its NOT discontinued its just been on hold since I've really been needing commissions. However I want to ask you guys for an opinion. Do you think that I should go back and re-ink the old pages to match the new ones?
I would also like to point out that I do offer comic commissions too. So anyone who is interested in looking for someone who'd do a comic book ask teh LEO! Note most people I've seen will charge roughly 75 dollars a page
My cheapest is 25 a page and I'll do a full ink for 30 a page, and a full out color ink will be about 40 per page. It may sound expensive but its really not, you'll get several images out of it. Which in tern actually makes getting a bulk of pictures cheaper.

The Key to being a more successful artist
Posted 12 years agoIt quite simple, most people I've seen around on the internet like to sell out to one art hosting community [FA, DA, etc] The mistake is that by doing that you're cutting yourself out of other communities that could be learning your name on other sites. Its not too hard to post a picture on every site you're a member of where its allowed and it would benefit you more than you might think. While you've got watchers where they like to stay active on other sites only which means you will have to present your art in other places. Also remember the rules of said places which should be obvious, an example is DA doesn't like pornography which is understandable they prefer the traditional ideal of art.
With the cultures changing slowly though definitions will change too, what was once a fine line on bold print on what was and was not art, almost does not exist anymore, especially on FurAffinity, to me what makes art is a simple definition: Art (n) "Anything a person can perceive as beautiful." Which can even be sexual arts. Culture and opinions of what's defined as beautiful or "ok" everyone should know by now, its not what it was 20 years ago, back when an artist would be shunned for doing a lot of porn.
As a furry artist however you should probably be rather excited about the increasing market for furry material and expand your skills to the next level before you miss the train. Big time marketers are beginning to see the potential in marketing furries. What does this mean? It means they're going to try and make money off of it. VIA probably going to look for popular furry artists be it fursuiters, artists skulpters programmers or what have you. They're going to want to grab them before rivals do. an Example would be Disney and Dreamworks. The wider out your art spreads the better off you will be.
You want everyone in the world to know who you are. Think about this. When a clueless producer is going to look for furry "stuff" what are they going to do to start off their search? They're going to type "Furry" into google.com the trick is making your artwork easy enough to find when they search for furry art. Of course making your art the first picture on a google search for furry is near impossible at best you get the point.
As a pose of portfolios go you're going to NEED to have more than a standard pose and photo realism to make it work. You're going to need, multiple styles, vibrant backgrounds, traditional art skill, speed, [[ex: not taking 6 months to do one art.]] This is probably the biggest thing you're going to NEED as an artist, and that is attitude, you want to be confident in your art of course. Playing Ash Catchum and parading yourself around like the very best like no one ever was however would be a major mistake. I'd recommend thinking about it like this, and you can quote LEO on this. "Present your artwork with a bow, display humility and respect, don't make it look like you're slapping a homework assignment onto the teachers desk"
If you want to get professional about art there is a lot you need to understand, a portfolio filled with the same type of art is a BIG nono, a bunch of furries, guns, tanks, etc wont cut it. They want to look for the artist that is open to doing a lot of things and willing to learn new ones. If you present a portfolio with just one generalized theme, they're not going to receive the best impression from it. The biggest message you're going to send is "whats" in you portfolio not how good it looks or how popular it is. Take yourself seriously and demand nothing short of the best out of your art. Make SURE the people who commission you are satisfied and be respectful of other artists and peers regardless of your opinion on their skill level. Skill is not measured by detail or experience though those are nice. it is measured by the amount of hearts you touch with your art.

Console wars? o.0
Posted 12 years agoI never could understand why people have to fight over which systems is better, REALLY?!
All three promise quality if you play them properly. If you do not play all three you're missing out on their good games and their bad ones.
Its one thing not to like an other because of its controller, online pay2play, or fewer DLC. However knocking someone else for liking a system is childish.

Balance
Posted 12 years agoTrying to find balance is usually easy for me to do. I can usually brush off my problems so easily that I enjoy helping people with the problems they have as well. The passed few days however, I don't know how to explain it, a lot of things happened the passed few days that were just stressful.
It will be alright though, I don't want anyone to feel as though I'm looking for pity or attention. Though I welcome your comfort and support. I just felt so heavy today from the sum of it all that I wanted to announce it hoping to relieve a little stress. It has been slowing my art a bit so I need to get it off my chest and acquire balance in body as well as soul. Its not the fact that nothing good has happened these passed few weeks, good things have happened and I've had some fun. I think its more of the matter that I try to give so much, I try to help so many, but I don't always get thanks for it, I don't always get people asking me, "Hey LEO how do you feel?' I don't have many people who'll put their life aside to try and give me the same compassion. However if I wean them from my attention even in the slightest I see the big difference it makes.
If I turned my back for a day, sure their world would go on, but I know that things I've worked so hard to help them with would come crashing down, because often times I hold things together and to let go would mean the eminent collapse of it. Sometimes I see myself as a leader figure even though I try not to present myself as a leader as more so of a guide or a mentor.
So few ever seem to even remotely attempt to recognize the effort I put towards what I do, so few ever say "Hey LEO did this for us."
I guess I just want someone to stand up for me from time to time, maybe I just want someone who'll say "look here LEO has done nothing but try to help as many people as he can, I am lucky to call him a friend."
I guess there's a lot of things that I want. I'm probably not really making as much sense right now as I should as I am literally following my thoughts on this journal. Quite seriously though. I just want somebody to stand up for my feelings once in a while at least. As a mentor or leader I have to negate my own emotions from the picture since I'm not representing myself, I'm representing others. Never the less, I love what I do even if its stressful at times, and LEO needs a hug when there are no hugs to be had, and I wont stop doing it no matter what.

Fursona Make Over Save 50%
Posted 12 years agoHave a Fursona You want to make some changes to? Can't quite figure out your markings? Just ready for a change in general. Ask me for a Make over you'll get a Master Commission style B for 15 Dollars!
Guidelines are, I don't do back seat Drawing with them, Tell me as much as you can but realize a makeover will require artistic freedoms for it to work. Simple things like eye color or a scar here and there is understandable but never bare that in mind.

LEO does not hide his comments
Posted 12 years agoHe's gotten some comments over the years some of them which were bullshit, like the one about me tracing, in case people were wondering why I don't remove them, is because hiding them would only make me look guilty, so I don't delete them like that. I know I have nothing to fear and 99.9999999 percent of my watchers know who I am what they like and don't like. So if one person thinks something, it doesn't concern me, I know more people like my work than dislike it and I know I'm always getting better. My art makes people happy if you don't like it that's fine, I don't really care :)
I'm Tired of It
Posted 12 years agoI'm tired of going from page after page and seeing the disrespectful way artists are addressing trades, and requests. Hey look I'm a rather descent artist too, I get my share of requests, I know they can get bothersome. But how would you like it, if you put an offer out for commissions and the people who buy YOUR art just Typed "no" or "never" or something like "not paying you for your art indefinately"
I have nothing against saying no to a free art or trade, but I just feel like when someone goes to your page and looks at it, when they see it, it must feel like a door slammed in your face. There are more respectable ways to tell them no without seeming like you see them as a burden to your life.
When you're seeking commissions especially, you don't want to come out as an asshole. People don't tend to like real life assholes. There's enough text to say something like. "I am sorry I don't have time to give free art or trades" or "please don't ask me for free art or trades" Don't make it sound like if they'd ask by accident that you'd chase them off with a stick. You may intimidate people and push them away from you.

Master Commission B Deal
Posted 12 years agoHello furries I have a new Deal for a limited time, the deal will end when this journal is deleted the deal is as follows.
for one master commission its 30 as normal HOWEVER every master commission you buy passed that decreases the price by 5 dollars per commision. This means if you buy two master commisions you actually save 10 dollars. Thats 1/6 percent off, and the more you buy the more you save. You think thats something you'd expect if you bought three you'd get the 4th half off. Well I'm going to tack on the deal, for every 3 master commissions you pay for you get one free. which means
if you get the three Master commissions style B
you're paying 75$ which the original price would be 90$ so you're saving 15$ PLUS the 30$ on that free commission so you're saving 45 for every 3 commissions 90$ for every 6 and 180$ for every 12
There are very basic guide lines of course you can't get the deal in multiple transactions meaning you can't buy one now and one later.
I will however allow commissioners to put their commission orders together, say like you have a friend and you both want to commission me, you can both come to me about it and pay for it together to save yourselves some money.
Keep your eyes open furries for other specials I'm sure I will make more as time goes by.

Don't talk about stupid people.
Posted 12 years agoI normally refrain from mentioning stupid little shitz, but today I will bring them up as an exception hoping that it will help you all.
When someone does "Stupid funny" by all means share the story I wanna laugh.
When someone does "Stupid Shit Stupid is" The annoying and the kind that slows life down. Don't spread it around with complaints, you know that actually promotes stupid behavior, Look at it like this, what do people talk about the most at these modern times? STUPID THINGS THAT PEOPLE DO. Guess who's famous then, THE SAID STUPID PEOPLE think about it. "Stupid people are the fizzaz everyone's talking about it. :
No seriously you guys are fine, just saying, if someone's stupid and you don't like it. Then why do people keep giving them the spotlight? Give that glory to those who deserve it I say. Think about it, who REALLY deserves our time and words more. The people who annoy us, or the people who make us happy?

Help?
Posted 12 years agoI hate to sound like a begger but this seems like something I need to do.
as many of my watchers know I've been working on a web comic, I would really like for it to get more attention than it gets. if my faithful watchers could please spread the word about my comic, and share these links in a Journal I would much appreciate it. I plan on so much for the comic, maybe even one day holding raffles for cameos of peoples fursona that maybe one day might be YOURS. But if it doesn't get enough attention there isn't a lot of point in it.
pretty please my watchers if you can share these links and hopefully this will help me in getting the much needed feed and attention I so desire on my comic.

Posted 12 years agoit has come to my attention by suggestion of another artist that I should work on my anatomy and I think for a lot they are right. Granted SOMETIMES I am more satisfied with my work than not. But in a lot of things they still get on my nerves so what does this mean?
It means I will probably be drilling myself and drawing some things over and over on the same paper weather or not I post this I cannot say yet. But I just wanted to say before I got started with it

Something to think about
Posted 12 years agoSometimes I have to wonder, and this is no offence to any furries. I have to wonder, how the furs who payed top dollar for these photo realistic images drawn for them, waited several weeks to months to get them drawn. I have to wonder, how they feel knowing that people all over the world are using their images without their permission. As an artist I cannot make an assumption. I would think it like this.
I may have almost unlimited access to art as an artist, but inagine what it would be like if I didn't and I had to spend my hard earned money which I don't have a lot of, on an art that is known to cost 75-100+ dollars and imagine that I see something that is special to me being ripped copied edited having their characters being PHOTOSHOPPED.
Some furries even have the BALLS to claim that that character is theirs! I know most of you don't mean any harm and getting the money for a commission and an artist to do it is very hard and I wont judge you for it. It only ticks me off in the worst of cases. In mass theft claiming they drew or and trying to sell it things like that.
But Furries who do use the art they didn't make. I want you all to think really hard about this its very serious. If you were caught by the artist. What would you tell them? If you were the one having someone use your fursona what would you do?
1. If I could say this. If you can contact the owner of the art, ask them for permission to use their art If not try to find another. It is not hard to find them.
2. DON'T model your fursona to be just like theirs so you can claim that its your character too. Oh yea I've seen them do that.
3. If you can't ask for permission don't worry I do understand that. the LEAST you could do is credit the artist and or say who owns the character. The owners deserve that credit.
Somtimes it is hard to see the right thing to do when everyone else is doing the same thing. I understand that. I don't blame a single one of you. I do however urge any of you who are using the image you have to stop, take a look at the picture you're using appreciate the hard work and soul put into them, and ask yourself what can I do to show my appreciation for the furry artist who made it possible for me to have this briliant work of art?
No one is a bad person for using the art of others. There is a lot of beautiful art out there, and the fandom is indeed a colorful one. If you really apreciate the things that make this fandom special. You should think about what I have written here. This is not meant to be a Judgemental post it is meant to be something to make you think, about how easy it is, to take something so beautiful for granted.
For those who have read this I thank you for your time, and I hope that from reading it you have all gained something.

Grrrrrr
Posted 12 years agoYou know what I hate? I hate how virtually every time I come online I see someone complaining because artists charge money for art and don't give it all away for free. How they think paying for art is stupid.
Well listen here mother fuckers. Maybe you don't understand how much hard work it is because you can't actually draw. If you don't fucking need the money to make ends meet. Or just to sustain a money flow at all to give yourself a little dignity.
There is NOTHING wrong with selling art if someone does not want to give you free art they don't have to, and quite frankly if someone wants to pay for the art and are happy with that they pay for, why the fuck do you think you have a say in that.
You guys are just as bad as the people who try to outlaw fast food and sugary sodas.
