SteamPunk Furries - Lanter City
General | Posted 13 years agoWith all the steampunk furs out there, why am i just now hearing about Bruce Boxleitners new project called Lantern City? It sounds like a really cool community driven project to produce a real tv series based upon community input and design. Lantern City being somewhat built like the failed FreeBorn movie BUT has a big name driving the creation of the series.
You steampunk furries that want to get involved, go over to http://lanterncitytv.com/and look around. We're a creative bunch and I'm sure we can help out the creation of something you really want to see!
Also, pass the word around! I'm just one furry and i can't tell everyone on my own. XD

Ask my boys anything (character TMI)
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm tryin' to get my gumption back. So, ask Me (Xander), Cherry, Tekah, or Nanuq any questions you like. I'll make sure we all respond. :P
Below are simplified references for all four of them. If you know them already, ask them a question, otherwise read below!

Apx 19-23. Black Jaguar, Arabian horse, Brazilian Giant River Otter hybrid. Stands about 5'7" in a swimmers build with a digitigrade stance. Upper left chest has a red triple-interlocked Mars symbols in his fur. Legs are slightly longer than average for someone with his size torso. Fairly muscular with a tight short black, slightly oily, pelt over his full body. Headfur is slightly shaggy with red-tipped bangs which is commonly styled with either gel or wax. Fingers and toes are webbed, and prehensile tail is slightly thicker at the base and tapered down to the tip that touches the floor-and-thensome. Pantherparts are quite large for someone his stature, his balls the size of a pair of lemons with a sodacan of a sheath sitting above. Erect is just short of a foot long and rather equine in shape and appearance but has a slight ring of barbs behind the flare. Most of the time, a silver ring in his right lower ear, a stud in his bellybutton, a ring through the lip of his sheath, and two inline studs in his tongue.

Apx 14-17. Red-spotted pink and white hyena standing 5'-5'6" tall with a digitigrade stance. His 'gloves', 'socks', muzzle, and ears are slighlty purple but still in the pinkish color. His white underbelly runs down over his chest and dow between his thighs and up his undertail. His red-spots have been subscribed as 'ink splotches' randomly splattered around his pink fur; a pair of spots on his right rumpcheek look a bit like slot-machine cherries, hence his name. His yena-parts are about the same as Xanders, but slightly smaller depending on his age and more humanoid with a silver ring through the lip of his sheath. A large red anodized stud sits in the center of his tongue which is seen most often when hes sticking his tongue out at someone (typical kid).
Tekah:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1014777/
Apx 17-23. 5'6" tall effeminately framed snow leopard with a digitigrade stance. Varying gray black rosettes spot his gray fur and his cream-gray colored fur runs under his muzzle, down over his chest and down between his thighs and up his undertail. Mid back long violet headdfur that is commonly pulled back or braided. He's a bit of a glamor-hound and typically won't leave the house unless he is 100% satisfied with his outfit and looks; even going as far as using eyeliner and eye shadow if the outfit calls for it. His massively fluff (near squirrel capacity) tail always swaying behind him and displaying a starburst pattern on the last third of its length. Snowmew bits are 'fairly' sized for his height but not overly endowed. A single bellybutton stud and a single tongue stud are his only jewelry.
Nanuq:
No visual references. Working on that.
Apx 30-37. Eggshell colored polarbear standing 7ft with the build of an off-season body builder. He lacks the standard bear 'gut', instead has a flat fairly toned belly. Overall, not overly cut but defiantly able to fold a GeoMetro in half without much effort. All of his exposed flesh is purplish black (including tongue) and fingerpads. Bearbits are just as huge as the rest of him, balls each the size of large grapefruit and a white sheath that hides 14 inches of black 'beer-mug' thick bear cock.
(Xander is primarily my real personality wrapped around little aspects i am trying to pull in. The other three are manifestations of my personality ramped up quite a bit. Cherry is the innocent teen with wandering eyes; Tekah is the glamor hound and always trying his hardest to be the girlyboy; and Nanuq is simply the powerhouse that specializes in smashing, bashing, and crisis management.

I hate asking...
General | Posted 13 years agobut the battery in my car died. Yeah, the car is eight years old and had the original battery in it (which was a five year battery). But anyway, batteries dead and needs to be replaced and I am still unemployed. The last thing I need is an expensive replacement thing at the moment. So... if you guys out there can spare a little change to make a battery replacement less painful, it would be appreciated.

General | Posted 13 years ago... we will see you again, Michael O'Hare, beyond the rim where no shadows fall.
Yesterday, while watching Babylon5 (dvd copy) I noticed a strange TweetStorm starting. I finally got around to checking it between scenes and discovered something that made me sad. Michael O'Hare, the actor of Commander Jeff Sinclair, died after being in a heart attack induced coma for five days. Hearing the news was a major shocker considering that he was only 60 years old.
Why am I posting this here? Well, I've noticed a lot of furs (not all but a lot) are Trekies. Don't get me wrong, I do like StarTrek, but it never had a long-story format. Typically one story had nothing or very little to do with the next. Sure Babylon 5 had it's junk episodes here and there, but each season (if not from one to the next) had a long story that each episode built on. ... I'll stop before I get smacked around by the Trekies... Like Sinclair said, "Sometimes doing the right thing doesn't change anything."
Anyway, to finish the original reason for this post:
We live for the one, We die for the one! Entil'Zha Valen, we have much work ahead of us. Rest In Piece.

Complex Jockstrap Sale! Also dropping AlertPay/Payza
General | Posted 13 years agoGood news everyone! </Professor>
Well, good news for you! From now until 24Sept2012 at 11pm, order a Complex jockstrap (only available in Royal Red and Electric Blue) for only 20$. Yep! It's an introductory cost for launching the Complex Jock on the website.
For more information about the PantherPouch Jockstrap go here: http://pantherpouch.com/underwear/jockstrap.htm
To see what the Complex Jockstrap you can go to the site or you can see it here: Electric Blue http://tinypic.com/m/fnspwk/1 ; Royal Red http://tinypic.com/m/fnspw8/1
Bad news everyone! </Professor>
Sense AlertPay has been purchased by Payza, a Canadian based holding company, it is no longer capable of sending money to US checking/savings accounts. Therefore, I am dropping service for it. Yeah, its a bummer for those that cant use Paypal.
However, I am picking up a Serve account. It is an online paying system run my American Express. Serve all accept credit cards and has no restrictions on types of sales (because its run by a bank). If you are interested in getting a Serve account for yourself, go to https://www.serve.com :3

Punctuation Nazi - The Comma
General | Posted 13 years agoyes, i know when it comes to online communications punctuation and grammar are the first things to go out the window. i understand it really! every day in the real world, i have to look over my wording, spelling, punctuation, and everything to make sure i am as clear as possible (technical papers, oy...). when i'm online, my spelling and language are as lazy as any other furs, but there is something that has been bothering me more and more on the internet and in technical papers: the use of commas in lists.
the big problem i have with it is the placement of the final comma. sure, the sentence can be structured correctly, everything in the list is parallel constructed, but the last comma isn't where it should be. for instance:
i went to the store to pick up walnuts, ice cream and chocolate sauce.
there should be a comma after 'ice cream'. why? well here's another sentence built the same but more complex:
i need you to purchase three tubs of ice cream: cherry, blueberry and pralines and cream.
because a single list item contains a 'conjunction' it confuses the brain in which item is a whole item. is the final item a three compound item or is it two separate ones? maybe three? so to fix the problem we write:
i need you to purchase three tubs of ice cream: cherry, blueberry, and pralines and cream.
however, if we are to fix this sentence we need all comma lists to be parallel constructed. so the first sentence would be
i went to the store to pick up walnuts, ice cream, and chocolate sauce.
there, i've made my logical stand for the final comma. :3
alright, i ranted about it, now i expect to see less proper use of commas for a while x.x;

however, if we are to fix this sentence we need all comma lists to be parallel constructed. so the first sentence would be
i went to the store to pick up walnuts, ice cream, and chocolate sauce.
there, i've made my logical stand for the final comma. :3
alright, i ranted about it, now i expect to see less proper use of commas for a while x.x;

CFT 2012 - Con Report
General | Posted 13 years agoWell, another CFT is over... finally! Well, I can't really say I didn't enjoy cooking for all you fuzzies at CFT but really, I’m just glad to be able to sit down and not think about volumes and weights of food for a while. :3
A lot of you have wanted to know about several minor events that went on at CFT and maybe one or two that was only experienced by a small crew after the attendees left.
Overall, the food went without a hitch! Everything seemed to work. We'll most things. I did have a bit of an oops with the veggie matter. For some reason I lost about 15lbs of veggie matter in storage. I also had a half gallon of heavy whipping cream disappear. Very annoyed :V Everyone seemed to have plenty to eat and loved most of it!
Now on to the excitement.
On Friday night there was a call for a medical transport to the Bend hospital. Nothing major, the attendee needed to be checked out and returned several hours later. Some of the things were improvised, but we've got it under control for next year.
Saturday there was a report of vehicles being rumaged through and items missing. Next year we intend to set up cameras in the kitchen and in the parking lot to help with security at night. :3 Also, FUCKING LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS! :3
On Sunday afternoon several law enforcement vehicles came tumbling into the campground. Apparently our wubs could be heard a long way away (6miles [new cft record!]). The complaint had been sent by someone describing us as a Rainbow Gathering (a generally gay, destructive group of squatters known for destroying campgrounds and setting uncontrolled camp fires) of 300 individuals strong. Law enforcement came rolling into camp with six vehicles blocking roadways. Our director showed up with papers verifying we had permission for the event and the enforcement left laughing to themselves and us laughing at them for not checking with the ranger first. :P We were issued a 'notice' to keep it quite while one of our campers was cited for driving a vehicle beyond the edge of camp into federal reserve land. Oops. Campers, we love you for raising enough money to cover that for him :3 Awesome job, duders!
On Sunday evening after the law enforcement vehicles left, we promptly got blasted with a heavy gust of wind. We had several furs immediately check weather radar and NOAA to confirm that a major thunderstorm 8 miles wide was headed directly towards us. In a mad rush about a quarter of the campers pulled out and took off while the rest began digging trenches around tents and nailing everything down that could move. At about 6pm the sky was on fire with the sparks and thuds of lightning and thunder but strangely not ever getting closer. The cell had split and passed around camp in a 5mi wide opening then remerged by about 6:30. If God hated furries, he had a perfect chance to get rid of a lot of us at once. But, nope! Instead by 7pm he peed on us... maybe two thirds of an inch of rain in about 90 mins.
Sunday night, an escalating verbal altercation prompted staff to call "ALL STAFF" to Green Camp ASAP. For me standing in Blue Camp with one of the camp hosts, we were about a half mile from the incident; I bolted off at top speed. I personally didn’t know I had any cheetah in me! I probably would have beaten an Olympian in my sprint across uneven ground. I’d say probably a minute for just about a third of a mile... till I tripped XD tumbled forward and ended up sitting the other direction while waving the rest of the staff on. No injuries on my part just bruised pride and annoyed at a rock the size of a tennisball. The altercation was quashed.
Monday was general attendee pullout day, leaving only a third of the core staff and a of volunteers to disassemble CFT. Monday night was a good practice in Search and Rescue. A camper rolled up to the Mess Hall shouting “there are people screaming for help.” We immediately set up a search party sending people towards the river in 15deg lines from the kitchen in search of the screamers. Once they were located, an all call was sent out to retreat to the Mess Hall. The two non-CFT people identified themselves as having taken mushrooms with a third person named Travis as their clean buddy. While I was coordinating the search and retreat over the radios I was calling Emergency Services and coordinating lighting and road flares to identify the campground. Once the law enforcement arrived, we set up a system of check-ins and approaches to ensure that Travis didn’t slip into the small group. While Law Enforcement kind of did their job, we went back about our business and cooked sausages over the fire pit. Overall, being Coordinator and Communications Center for Search and Rescue isn’t new to me, but I had just downed like four ounces of vodka when the incident started. Man I was sober in like 20 seconds flat. Overall, this is something we should really prepare for anyway. However, we did spend about 5 hours working with law enforcement in order to calm down the shroomers and to locate unsuccessfully the third Travis. As precautions, we clustered camps to make sure we were in numbers that could destroy this Travis if necessary. :3 So, if you see someone from CFT2012 saying “Fuck Travis” you now know why.
While the situations are true, the dates and times might not be accurate. Those directly involved have not been named to protect their identities. However, we will always say “Fuck Travis!”
Now, we get to do it again next year! See ya in 12 months CFT!

Rainbow in the Dark... Go read it!
General | Posted 13 years agoI have to admit, i'm not much of a reader. Hell, up until trying to fall asleep on someones couch and staring at the ceiling, i was pretty sure i forgot how to read (read-read not just street signs and stuff). But i remembered i had bought an eBook on my Kindle back in august that had sat dormant for so long. So i thumbed through my media player in the Kindle app and started reading Rainbow in the Dark http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6257392/ go read the summary over on Amazon! :P
Im not going to give a way any of the plot or storyline but i will say that it is a ... huh... i'm not really sure how to put it ... perfect best case scenario in storyline and happenings. While the flow was good and timing wasn't too predictable, it strikes a very sentimental wishful-thinking 'why can the world work this way' book.
go check it out over on Amazon or get a physical copy! i hear theres some at a con sometime soon. :3
Oh, and it also helps to have a ridiculously large assortment of music while reading. I went with a different genera for each chapter. Worked pretty well >.> even the dubstep *hides from flying boots*

Panthers and Doom3
General | Posted 13 years agoIn the past, I have said that I no longer play Doom3 at night. Well, theres a reason for that.
First of all, let me explain something about my living area. I currently live in a very underfunded county where there isn't a Sharif patrol. I live outside the city limits. Recently the Sharif said, "We cannot afford our current patrols for the next cycle. Therefore we are reducing our patrols by half and closing our office and closing the city juvenile offenders detention and jail facilities. If you have the ability, we recommend arming yourself for personal and property protection."
With that in mind, I sleep within arms reach of a pistol and a 32inch hunting knife (yes thats what the box was labeled).
In Doom3, in the third or fourth level right at the beginning there are 10gal fuel containers that slowly slide out and fall to the ground all over the reception area. Throughout the level you hear the bottles being kicked around and falling all over the place. Eventually one offalling buckets is because something is jumping out at you and trying to shread your face. Yeah... after a while, you start to use that sound of the bottle dropping to the floor as a trigger to turn and shoot.
Well one night after playing Doom3 for four hours or so. I creeped myself out enough. So I went in to take a shower. I emptied a bottle of shampoo and sat it on the edge of the tub instead of throwing it into the trashcan then went to bed. After about an hour of sleeping I hear that 5gal bottle sound amid my light sleep. I literally throw off my bedding like I was casting a fishing net, drew the 32inch hunting knife like a ninja out of its scabbard, and grab my pistol from the drawer like Jason Statham. Holding my breath I'm staring into the dark bathroom and holding my breath and dripping in a cold sweat. When i finally realized what the sound was (that empty shampoo bottle), i noticed I had the trigger pulled about half way back (it's a keltec, huge trigger pull distance) and had a four foot slash mark in my wall where the knife had hit the wall in my draw. (FYI, I shoot left handed if I have a sword. Go figure...).
This is the reason why I do not play Doom3 at night any more.
