Odd phenomenon at work
General | Posted 9 years agoThis happened a few days ago, just never got to posting it.
The cracking plant had a major upset, having to divert a great amout of the feed gasses to the flare. Seriously, you didn't need headlights that night, flare had a flame that would have been several stories tall.
Anyway, it was misty and cold that night. I mind my own business and noticed small, foam 'globs' falling from the sky. Not big, about the size of a credit card, just a bubbly mixture that complexed me.
My guess is that the flare was running so hot, plus any residual gasses not being burned, plus cold temperatures and humid air had mingled to make the 'foam rain'. Didn't last long and only a few puffs made it to our block but still.
Weird shit happens out here.

Cheek dots
General | Posted 9 years agoShepherds have those cheek dots. Been wondering why they would have those but after some time, has concluded they are for poking.
But poking cheek dots are bad! *shows teeth in a grin* No pokey the cheek dots.
Is bored and tired, hence weird journal.

Shutdown again
General | Posted 9 years agoSome of you already know what this is.
I have to endure another shutdown at work.
That means that after this week, I will be offline near constantly till it is over.
I have overtime out the ass for this week (13th-19th) and once the following Monday is past, I will be completely booked solid till the end of April.
Rp's and similar are ending THIS sunday.
Other than the necessary minimum chatter, I won't be on telegram, skype, or steam.
I BELIEVE it will be the last week of March and two weeks into April.
Providing everything goes smoothly.

Zoophobia
General | Posted 9 years agoJokes aside, watched Zootopia today. It is a fun little show, nothing weird and I will have to give it to Disney for the experience. I did laugh at the wolves though! XD Good thing doggies don't do silly wolf things...right? Right?!
Thinking about updating Aperio
General | Posted 10 years agoAperio nearly ended up as a buck.
While he didn't, the idea never left.
I am thinking hybridization, 1/3rd buck, 2/3rds shep.
Be shep tail and those comically huge hand paws. Buck feet (hooves) and antlers. Body be mixed, dog leaning.
Still modular and cunny boy.
Here is the bad part, what to call him.
A shep + buck = suck.
No!
A 'femme' buck? = fuck
Dammit.
How about a shuck? Sounds like smuck!
This is embarrassing, pfffff!

"You'll know something in April."
General | Posted 10 years agoStill on this topic: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7372517/
Someone with some knowledge from the corporation building had dropped a hint on us. Of course this is a rumor but it comes from a strong source, so I mostly believe it. All we know by this point that it is very likely whatever happens will happen in April of this year.
Oh boy~ (sarcasm)

Maybe out of a job in a year?
General | Posted 10 years agoIt has been officially announced today that the department I work at is up for sale.
It is rare for large chemical plants to just shut down units, they either tear them off the foundations and sell them for prepackaged 'plant-in-a-box' deal or keep them on site and let someone else manage it. Regardless of which case ends up being the final results, this may happen to my block.
For those who don't know, a plant are broken up by departments, which are broken down further into units. Usually a department are a handful of units that have something in common and thus work together. Much like a city, each department are broken up in a block like formation and the units themselves are a collection of equipment that produces a group of product(s). Just because all the departments are on one spot of land does not mean that all departments/ units are owned by the same company. These things cost billions to build and plus you need utilities to keep them going. So it is often cheaper just to keep the department/unit in place so they can benefit to each other. The company that make the sell, let's say company A and company B that bought the rights to the equipment are in better shape together. Company A can still make money with customer connections, fees, utilities, and railway access while company B makes their money off the now required production of whatever good(s). We have several companies out here on our little 'island'. No one sees the other as an enemy since the companies make such different types of goods that there is usually no direct competition.
The good news is that it won't be immediate no matter what happens. It will be several weeks before the sale is even listed and much longer (if at all) before the purchase is made. The bad news is that no matter what happens, this will cause some shock to our routine. The options are:
1. We don't get sold.
This is a somewhat likely scenario since large groups of units tend to cost billions to put together. (We won't be cheap) Not only would the company have to buy the plant but they would have to buy the experience, company connections, customers, and utilities on top of it. It takes decades to get stuff like that perfected and it will be costly.
2. We are sold but only managed by another company:
This is the most likely option. I have personally seen this in other departments around the company site. Company A sells the unit(s) to company B. But company B doesn't want to spend even more money training people to run the unit(s), which can take up to 5 years depending on how complicated the unit(s) are. If wondering, our units are quite complicated and it does take 3-5 years to learn it. Back on track... So, instead of hiring new people, they just keep company's A employees in place but manages them instead.
3. We are sold and they remove the unit(s):
Not likely but it has happened. We would be forced to move to other departments or forced to move to wherever the new location is set at. Not fun in either case.
4. Company just abandons the unit(s) entirely:
Again not likely, even a failing department costs less to keep running than to have to pay for employees that are doing nothing. Much like the above option, we would eventually be moved around.
Weird how we made money hand over fist for years but the one time we have a bad year (due to the oil prices) and they want to bury us. To be fair, the company is moving away from the older style of chemical distillation. More speciality chemicals that weaker places cannot make, either by the lack of funds or know-how. Our department is one of the final remnants of the old setup that hasn't been either bought out, sold off, or scrapped/abandoned. The ONLY reason why we lasted this long is that we can produce a chemical that is super dangerous and most places either cannot or will not make this stuff, giving us an edge. But being in the same spot with roughly the same capacity since the 60's will be our undoing. The world has moved on and more cleaner (and stable, hence the oil prices) batch of chemicals are on the horizon. In all, I am just a bit stressed about this.

General | Posted 10 years agoThis is a bit of a rant as well, so excuse the cussing.
My glorious forth teer boss (area manager) is fucking us over so badly that no one is volunteering for anything, which is causing a major backlog. This backlog is mostly shutdown work, which is due next month, and is now causing said boss to get nervous and even more dickish. Now we have to do our job, plus pre-shutdown stuff, plus now do the coordinator's work because he dragged feet, and extra overtime sprinkled on top.
God DAMMIT
No skype. I am far too tired/mad/ and sour to even consider rp or chat. The shutdown is supposed to be the 7th to the 21st (lol), we be super lucky if we finish in September at this rate. Just poke me after September is over. ;-;
Seriously. I have so much overtime that I make more money than my (first, maybe second teer) boss(es). No fun if you can never use it though. I know I shouldn't complain and usually I like overtime but hell, they been shoveling it on us this year. No wonder none of the new employees stays anymore.
Edit: Removed skype off phone. Pc is still active however.
Things are actually going ok. I cannot be too detailed since some of the work is confidential but other than one of the columns needing some welding, we are a bit ahead of schedule. I originally thought it wouldn't be till the beginning of next month before we are back to normal but with the recent news, might...maybe...possibly be up by next week. Had my phone and pc break on the same week, that sucks!
Phone, even if it had the gorilla glass, scattered in my back pocket. My guess is that the phone flexed and just overpressured the glass? Fixed now but since Straighttalk cannot reactivate an old sim card, I must wait to get a new one. (Eye roll) Pc super corrupted windows and with no disc, had no good way of fixing it. Went to 8.1, reloads 10, then made a backup image disc for repairs. Did lose a sdd in the process, won't power up. At least it is functional again too.
Nothing much, just updating those who are poking me on the skype~

Some decent news and a question
General | Posted 10 years agoFluffs!
We are actually nearly back on schedule. Instead of being several weeks behind, we are like 2-3 days behind.
That is actually very normal, so I'll take it.
On other news, a crew were digging up a line with a backhoe and they were told to go to hand tools when they start to see pipe. Both parties agreed and separated... till upon a later inspection that the digging crew did NOT go to hand tools and found a clay pipe the wrong way. Busted up and filling the hole with water, awesome (sarcasm), and they were trying to high-tail it out of there. SO they now have to do free repair work. Sucks to be them since it is nasty water (basically 'gray' water of a chemical plant).
Got some time off though I am staying mostly silent on skype/telegram. Got a question though if anyone of you peeps can lend a hand.
Husky717 still owes me a paw. XD
Anyone knows of any artists that do dark themed references? I want something for a miserable 'malevolent' person (Braer) but finding an artist for this has been tougher than expected.

For those who aren't aware of Aperio, its the german shepherd all in my gallery.
An older fur. My peeps are welcome to make suggestions. I think it will be fun to hear what ya'll think about an older shepherd that has very little respect for his offspring.
I see why! Aperio is suck a dork.
Like a major dork.
Oh. Anyone wants this?: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14891357/
Never used it. Ironic that when I finally got burnt out on the whole MLP thing, is when I won a MLP character. Never used, first person asking for it can have it.
Thankies.

The flood
General | Posted 10 years agoof random peeps looking at this journal. Jokes aside, the last storm at my house was so bad, that my window seal failed and flooded my living room.
Squee
Good news I have temporary fixed the leak. Chalked everything on the window and even though it is stuck shut for the mean time, I can at least not worry about said window. Bad news, I need a new window since this one is completely toast. Not surprised actually, the east wall has always been the hardest hit during a tough bout of rain. Sheetrock was dried nearly instantly with a couple of box fans; trim is fine and the carpet isn't damaged.
So it could have been a lot worse! Here is the thing though, it nearly was way worse! I was, *WAS* supposed to have worked that night but I got cancelled on since the fire department forgot to adjust their schedules (which I was on at the time). Since the ERT (chemical plant fire fighting crew) didn't need my help, I went home. THANK ALMIGHTY GOD I was home. I heard a dribbling noise in the living room and was very confused. At first I ignored it but when the dribble got worse, I looked. kljhlb;ekn;cohepuip;! Water was pouring in from around the window seals!!! I was able to minimize the leak by nailing a tarp to my outside wall (Which reduced the leak 98%) and the rest was just managed till the rain stopped. If I had worked, my carpet/sheetrock/ electric devices would been destroyed. Cause it was one heck of a leak!
Just sheppy drama. XD I sprung a leak.... no jokes on that. *Points at the offenders*

General | Posted 10 years agoI feel like I just went through a shutdown.
Been working straight since the 25th, 12 hour shifts with some days and some nights. I was supposed to be off today but nah, they decided to call me in after a pump croaked and refused to be revived (vapor locked).
Just letting ya'll know why I been absent for so long. I had like a 1/2 day off on Easter Sunday and only because I was coming off nights and headed into my day shifts.
And my yard is so awful.
Weeds everywhere.
Carpet people forgot me again and I am about to the point I want a refund, tired of trying to juggle my schedule to accommodate them but they don't even bother showing up.
Did I mention my yard needs mowing?
Anybody has a hungry goat?
*Dies on the floor* XD
Not venting, just burnt out I guess.

General | Posted 10 years agoWell, this was so 'fun'. I been accused by one of the maintenance employees of stealing tools. I will quote him now; "operators didn't have to do anything [buy anything to get into their place of employment]. I had to buy my tools so I take it personally. Don't you break into the building again."
I take it personally when someone fingers me for a crime with absolutely no evidence to back it up.
Want to know why I am the suspect? Cause I am like one of maybe 3-4 guys that has ANY mechanical training in operations. Need a flange busted open, I'll do it. Need a small header rebuilt? I've done it. Valve broke and we need to stab a new one onto it to keep going, ditto! With that said, I do actually have a hunch on who would be the actual thief but I also have no evidence and will remain silent until that is changed.
I asked his partner; not only does he have no clue I am being charged with this but he didn't even know about the lost tools in the first place. After further discussion, both of us was starting to wonder if he was just laying his tools down when done with a job and not retrieving them. Which...yeah...are going to 'walk' off after a few hours.
Not in my lunch box though!
This happened a couple of days ago, just been busy and tired. The building he is mentioning is not only locked up but the tool boxes in it are locked up again. No tool boxes has been broken into and I would strongly presume the building hasn't been touched either (second reason I won't finger the person I suspect). Old fart is just losing his own damn tools.

SKype
General | Posted 10 years agoIs back online. Is on pc and will be added to phone too.
Skype? (UPDATED)
General | Posted 10 years agoI don't like what M$ has done to skype but I have had several peeps request me back.
*Punches a random Microsoft employee*
I'll try to get it back on my stuffs. Hopefully my old account works too. I would be 1000000x happier if they had some delete button though! I know I cannot delete the stuff on the server side but I can at least request it not automatically push all that right back onto my phone no matter what I try to do.
Oh and the pc parts are coming in today! ^^
I will have skype on my new pc, which will be put together tomorrow. I may be silent for a couple of days but I am very much alive.

Computer question
General | Posted 11 years agoSimple question! I don't want arguing about which brands are better and the AMD vs. Intel squabble. I *was* building a pc last year (some of the recently deleted pictures were about. Since I got derailed by some IRL issues. Things are quiet now and it is now or never since my current rig is having crashing issues (I believe the motherboard is the culprit). Just the major parts below, good, bad, ugly, or actually great?
1. ASUS X99-A LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
2. Intel Core i7-5930K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.5GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W Desktop Processor BX80648I75930K
3. CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4-17000) Memory Kit Model CMK16GX4M4A2133C13 (will be 8 sticks, 32 gb in all)
The gpu will be the Nvdiviia 780ti I have now. (EVGA GeForce GTX 780Ti 3GB GDDR5 )
If something looks amiss, please leave a suggestion! Bye ya'll and have a nice day. :3

What a crappy birthday! *Updated*
General | Posted 11 years agoI cannot complain too much, at least I had coffee.
But this sucks anyway, let me explain.
I do have a side job where I weld for farmers off on the side. Not often, just when they blow a hole out the side of a bailer or something and they cannot fix it themselves.
Had one today, some gentleman broke the wheel sprocket on a Ford tractor (no clue how he did that) but it can be fixed by welding the sprocket to the twister rod that is mounted onto the front clip. I personally don't know what the 'manufacturing' name is for it but its the actual part that turns the sprocket to make the connected wheel turn. The original setup had square keys holding the piece in but they were completely worn out and the slot for the keys were destroyed (by some bad rigging) from the owner. Hence why the only options left are a completely new front clip or me just wend the two pieces together and pray that the sprocket never needs complete removal. Which it shouldn't, this is the only time I ever seen someone break that part.
Anyway~
I drive 25 miles to meet the guy and learn that the welder I brought along is missing pieces off the mig gun. F***!
My dad used it last, so I can only suspect he has it. I opened it up and saw that he had a wire jam, so I know why he removed it but I am damned to know why he didn't put it back. I can't find it in his shop and after driving for nearly three hours looking for a replacement, I am convinced that no one in Texas has this part in stock. Even the EXACT store that this welder was purchased from has no pieces for the gun. Seriously?! I own two welders and my dad has three but only one is for a 125 volt plug, everything else requires a 220. The owner is in the middle of nowhere but does have electricity for 120 volts. I am NOT dragging a generator for a 15 minute weld job. I can understand building a pipe fence or if the owner has no power but that would mean that I would have to drag my big welder and my generator (which I am not 100% sure it can handle the welder anyway) to a job for a simple 2-3 pass weld. Not enough money for the effort. So hence why I was stuck with this Hobart with no tip.
The part in question: http://www.usaweld.com/v/vspfiles/p.....0-Parts-2T.jpg (The 'c' piece)
So.. No monies. Luckily the owner used to weld too and is aware how deep I was in shit creek and understood that I had to reschedule the repair. The thing that made me the angriest is why sell a welder if there are NO, I mean absolutely no parts for it in store. No wonder people have been stealing parts off the show models because that sucks some serious ass. My rant is over, I'll go drink my mocha and try not to stab a cactus or throw the welder into a creek.
Oh and my bank called saying a credit card is compromised. Just squee~ At least they caught it this time though.
While my dad still points the finger to me, we were able to order the part online. 10$ for the part, kinda high for how simple the piece is but whatever. Problem resolved I guess. :3

Weird discovery
General | Posted 11 years agoI play on F-list often, as some of you are aware, but some of the stats on my characters are odd. Like, Aperio has the highest numbers in terms of bookmarks, friends, and actual views; which isn't odd in my point of view. What is weird are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th place recipients.
NEFAS gets second?! Wow, never would I have thought that.
Magnus is third, not surprising.
Jael is forth! Another out of the blue find and isn't that far behind Magnus.
Just an oddball journal. Please continue with your day.
