Posted a year agoi had to do an emergencial moving but its ok my new place has natural sunlight now which is a privilege one would never stop and think of how much of a privilege it is
the structure of this place is really good for its 100 usd price but its got one of the worst landlorditits cases i've ever seen. place was a mess. neglected for 2 whole years and rented without a previous cleanup. they didnt even paint over the bird poop on the walls. cockroach left dead on the floor unpainted. this is equally the worst and best place i've ever got.
also through all this i got sick. taking meds for it and hoping i'll soon be not sick. i've never coughed so much in my life. i feel like i could join some world guiness book kinda deal. sometimes i feel like i might pop up a head artery by cough force alone. at least its not covid which adds both a layer of relief and mystery.
my new place doesnt has internet yet. im living like a medieval peasant who wakes with the sun and sleeps two hours after nightfall.

fav sega genesis game
Posted a year agothe phantasy star series was my fave thing growing up and it influenced a LOT of things in my art life. to this day i still have a couple ocs that are a homage to the series and sometimes i think of being cringe and free and getting a phantasy star themed tattoo. you are now locked in my special interest journal. there are four phantasy star games:
phantasy star 1 - id dint play that as a kid bc i didnt have a master system and it wasnt available on sega genesis. its cool though its very hard. i got it on switch recently and it has the japanese audio version which is amazing in comparision to beep boop toot the western world got. later games make reference to this OST and i couldn't notice because the audio quality on the first one here was so bad.
its a swords and planets game where peace is an option. also the dungeons are 3D.
phantasy star 2 - i swear to god this game is still worth playing in 2k24. get a guide though those dungeon maps are insane. the OST slaps and the story is still good, though its like a what, 128kb file so they couldnt add too much deepth into it. Impressive to the time's technology limitations tbh
one of the characters is a gay pianist, which sounded bad for the western translation team, so they made him a misogynist instead. He teaches a skill for money and in the JP version he gives a discount to male characters because hes flirty. In the translations he does so because its "easier to teach men".
phantasy star 3- this one feels like a completely different game and it was published unfinished, which is something i only noticed when i replayed it recently as an adult. i played it obessively as a kid. probs because its easier in comparision to the other games (simplier dungeons... sometimes too simple even). this is the game that cursed me with robot fucker disease. my bisexual awakening was wren and mieu.
this game is divided in 3 chapters each talking about a generation. You pick who you'll marry by the end of the chapter and then play as the blorbo's kids. Different paths have different endings and different effects on the world happenings. The last generations are the ones that were rushed unfortunately and all the cool lore deepth you got from talking with NPCs in the first gens is gone as there barely are non-key NPCs left.
also i did something i always wondered if it was possible as a kid - i farmed and bought the mega expensive equipemnt in cille. not worth the time. not the most exciting challenge either but did help me fall asleep for a couple days.
phantasy star 4 - this is the final game and the graphics get a huge upgrade. characters have distinct personality and deepth, theres side quests, theres comic-like cutscenes. the OST slaps and it makes a lot of references to the older games, even closing some plot holes. theres even a fourth planet you can visit to get your ass kicked by sentient rocks.
there are phantasy star online games that i never fucked with. They're unrelated to the sega genesis games afaik and all they keep from those is the swords and planets sci-fi fantasy theme and some item names. and the grinding. probably

Posted a year agoThanks for the input everyone, i'm glad to know this is indeed a defect and they're not just supposed to be like this 😆 I've decided to return it for a refund and invest on another brand
heres a sum up of my situation:
Earlier this year i bought a kamvas 20. it came with a screen defect (other than that it worked fine) and i returned it for a refund. This took a month of painful agony because this was through aliexpress and they didn't update the tracking so i was like, an entire month recieving emails telling me that if i don't send the thing i already sent i'd lose my refund, all while i constantly tried to tell support i already sent it and they replying with stuff like telling me to restart my router. 🤦♂️ I got my refund in the end but my hairline took some damage.
So after this I bought a kamvas 16 (2021) from a brazilian site and it came with a defect 😭 it basically didn't recognise light pressure, so whenever i tried to make a line it'd come out with a lot of gaps. i returned it and after 15 days i got a new one with the same damn issue 🫠
So i'm here wondering, is this just how the kamvas 16 (2021) is supposed to be or did i just get unlucky twice? Heres a video recording of me trying to make a line with this:

I've recently got a huion kamvas that came with a small defect. Theres a backlight problem that, from my ipad experience, means it'll get worse. Could also stay forever dim on a corner which wouldnt be much of an issue, but I don't think I want to play with the possiblity.
I got it from aliexpress so I can't get a trade. I have to start a return process and its on them weither I get a full refund or not. This whole thing takes a long time. Thats a long time without my money and a screen that doesn't suck. I'll then have to wait even longer to get another huion or just a normal screen. Not the nicest conditions counting my laptop is being consumed by a red light.
I don't really know if I use this as a temporary fixer upper or if I go for a refund, but I'll be without money for any other option for a while even if I return, so I'm opening some discounted comms to cover the hole this thing did to my bank account. (I put it to pay in installments but thanks to a site's error it processed as upfront instead... truly a great experience overall)
Also that thing's refresh rate absolutely sucks, pelase dont get a huion kamvas 20 if you do animation. The ghosting whenever theres a contrast and general motion blurring are insane.
On a positive endnote using your shoulder for drawing sure is better than drawing on a tiny tablet. Also the colours and pen pressure are alright. Not best quality but not bad. I feel like I could cope with the motion blurring and doing animation on my laptops dying screen but the backlight issue part feels like an omen.

Posted 2 years agoedit: Since there was some confusion, i'm re-posting this to clarify that the spreaadsheet shows the total hours available in a day, so if theres 2h available you can buy 1h of it and someone else can buy the other 1h, its not an exclusively 2h slot. For the past few months i had to deal with a lot of life stuff so i couldnt work much or upload the things i had done. I am now finally somewhere somewhat more permanent and ive got back to work. The next few weeks ill focus on finishing whats on my list and sending that to my clients, only then i’ll see what about posting stuff online (which is a lot of stuff and posting stuff online is something my brain has a huge adhd block for)
im hoping to open comms again next month. i’ll have to update some stuff on my TOS and rethink how i take comms too. For now, the only way you can get art from me (aside from occasional stream comms) is through patreon requests, which is currently at a promotional price until july 6. :)
