Going home
Posted 9 years agoI should be arriving back in Ohio on September 3rd at about 7 a.m. . I leave here in Nevada at about 12:05 a.m. and it should take about three and a half to 4 hours to get there. I managed to find a very cheap flights on Frontier Airlines so it's not going to cost me that badly to get home about $200 all told and that's with several bags most of which are food for my new diet and other ingredients I can't get in Ohio that I purchased Aaron Nevada in the bulk food store in Las Vegas. I have about 20 pounds worth of food ingredients in one bag which while being ridiculous is the best way to do it since I had the money here and I need to get it back there. I'm still feeling rather down most days but the positive side I've lost about 20 pounds while I've been here and it's kind of proven that I need to just stick to this diet that my doctors and not in chest salt anymore yes that's really what ends up hurting me. Financially I'm still kind of behind but I'm hoping my boss will end up paying me sometime this next week and then SSI will come probably while I'm flying home.
Meh...
Posted 9 years agoFor some reason feeling very very lonely and depressed today more likely because I haven't been talking to anyone for a long time other than my roommates on the telephone and my mother here in Vegas. Just kind of tired of stuff and wishing things were different. Still way behind on funds until the end of the month when I get paid from the SSI along with back owed money from my mother and my boss.
So what's happened?
Posted 9 years agoI just wanted to make a quick journal to update you guys on what's been happening. My mother's eye surgery went well for her left eye over her right eye is now completely filled with blood and she cannot see out of it. We're currently waiting for about 2 to 3 weeks to see if the blood starts to get absorbed by her body however if it doesn't we may have to go in for yet another surgery I'll know more after the 1st of September but as it stands I may be down here for yet another month even after September rolls around I have no idea. The upshot of all this is I'm running on fumes money-wise haven't been able to get online for anything and basically been rather depressed and down a lot lately and missing a lot of things for my hometown and just been dwelling on a lot of issues lately. Not much I can really do what money I do have is going into presents for Joe's birthday and for paying for stuff for my mother when she needs it just really tired of things at the moment I have been feeling kind of depressed is a lot at night so been trying to keep my mind off things
Update on my Nevada trip
Posted 9 years agoYou know I'd about the 5th week since I've traveled here to Nevada. My mother had surgery back on the 4th after that the blood was drained out and caught her eyes she can now see much better out of one eye but the other one still has a large gas bubble which is preventing her from seeing anything it's been about four days since that happened and starting to get better each day she's able to drive now which is one of the main goals of getting this done so her vision has cleared up considerably I should still be here another 2 to 3 weeks I know I'll be here at least till the 18th but it looks like I might be able to come home shortly after that.
Update on my mother
Posted 9 years agoShe will be going in for a second eye surgery on the 4th of August. Hopefully this will repair the damage. I will be down here for at least another 2-3 weeks or so.
Updates on my trip and my mom
Posted 9 years agoJust to let you guys know I've been down here for about two and a half weeks now we're going in to see the doctor tomorrow to see what can be done about her eyes but I don't expect coming back anytime soon. At the shortest it should be sometime after August 10th but more likely than not this maybe another month to two months where I'm down here in Las Vegas health-wise it's a lot more difficult to stay on a low sodium diet down here because for some reason low sodium food is a lot where to find in Las Vegas which is surprising to me. It might be because the town I used to live in has a lot more elderly patients and a lot more people have health conditions and so perhaps the usual grocery stores have a lot more choices as far as compromise diets. Anyways I just wanted to update everyone on what was going on. I'm struggling a lot financially but hopefully I can make ends meet.
Update on emergency trip
Posted 9 years agoIt looks like I will be flying out July 7th. I'm taking an airline I've never heard of called Frontier. They're charging about a hundred and fifty to fly out and then an extra 30 for two carry-on bags. This is far cheaper than we were expecting so that's a good thing. I'm currently at AC at the Wyndham Hotel basically lying about.
Emergency trip home
Posted 9 years agoI will have to be heading home to Nevada after AC for an indeterminate amount of time. My mother's eye surgery has gone wrong and she needs to be down there to drive her around along with taking care of her for the next few months. I don't know how well I'll be able to come online or when I'll be able to do so just to let everyone know where I went.

Anthrocon
Posted 9 years agoJust to let my friends know I will be at anthrocon this year. I will most likely not be at the actual convention that much unless I decide to hang around at the panel or something I will mostly probably be staying in my hotel. I'm staying at the Omni basically I'm going to treat this as a vacation a way to rest for a while get my health back but I will be there I may go to the con itself just to look around and see what's up I have not yet registered for it so I still have to pay the $60 registration fee on site so I will decide when I actually get there whether or not I'm going to fully register.
If any of my friends do want to meet up at some point or wanted to talk to me just let me know and I can arrange something I'm coming in on Thursday night and we'll probably be leaving Sunday after the closing ceremonies or so. More likely than not I will not be there on Sunday afternoon because we have to check out of the Omni by noon I will probably be waiting with the vehicle so my friends can spend as much time with the con as possible

Updates
Posted 9 years agoGoing in to see my kidney specialist in about an hour and I thought I would add a few updates/notes on here for anyone interested.
All told in the hospital I lost 30 pounds, and so far I have kept almost all of it off (I fluctuates on about 2-3 pounds.... it comes and goes depending on my salt intake the day prior). I'm on about 3 times the medication I was prior to keep the water weight gain from coming back and I am hoping my cretin levels are still going down. I should find out today what they are.
In other news I did find out that it is confirmed.... I will be heading to anthrocon this year to escort my roommate around the con. It's his first time at any type of convention and he's the body type that's most at risk at these types of things, plus pretty young so we figured someone needs to watch his back. I am feeling far more healthy so it shouldn't be too much of a strain. I am still debating whether I want to actually register for the event or just walk him around.... only problem would be the dealers den and artists alley since their both sealed off but their also much more public spaces. He should be fine in there.

What's gone wrong
Posted 9 years agoI figured I would creep in here via my tablet and let you guys know a little more about what's been going on.
Basically what's been going on it's my kidneys have been failing. A normal person has a Creatine leve ofl around 1.0 to 1.5. My first reading check when I came in here was around 6.0. This is at the point where the doctors were considering dialysis. They started me on a diuretic and I don't working on that last week well I've been hospitalized along with a very low fluid. This is not no sodium intake and not being able to leave the hospital for the past seven and eight days. This happened immediately after I had the surgery on the 16th so I have not left the hospital since the 16th. It looks like they may be releasing me on Wednesday if my levels continue to go down. I had gained over 50 pounds of water weight in under period of about one week. So far I've lost a predominant amount of that, now only having about 15 - 20 pounds to go total before getting to normal. This is one for the past couple of weeks I felt really sick and lethargic also why my medications were not working correctly.
I have lost quite a bit of weight had a lot of pain over the last couple weeks. They switched out most of my medications in their retraining in a couple of different things. I still have some other things I need to change but that should be a good sign. The next couple of weeks are going to be pretty hard for me so I might not be on as much. Long story short, they are informing me that I don't have that huge a length of time left in my life and I need to start getting things set down In stone. I might have to seriously start thinking about what I want done with my possessions along with what needs to happen if I do die unexpectedly. When do you have to change a lot of aspects of my lifestyle which mostly includes not allowing myself to take easier routes or slack on things like exercise.
The update this was mostly done text to speech so please forgive the grammar. If you need to contact me you can private message me on here. If you have my cell phone number you can always use that as well.

Posted 9 years agoSo when your doctor tells you to get your prayers in order that's a good thing right?
Suffice it to say I'm back in the hospital and it's not good news.

welp.... see you all on the other side
Posted 9 years agoI'll be back in a few days hopefully. I may have to stay longer than 24 hours as I know I have been retaining more water weight again and it's getting to the point where I can;t sleep so I will have them try and deal with it while I am already checked into the hospital.
See you all when i hopefully know more.

Heads up... surgery on the 16th
Posted 9 years agoJust letting you all know I will be heading in for a biopsy on the 15th. That's next Monday. Should be at least a 24 hour thing since they will want to keep me for observation afterwards. Hopefully it will reveal whats up with the kidneys,.
Of course it happens today...
Posted 9 years agoWhen one of the worst things that could have happened has happened my PC has started to die. Is now randomly shutting down in the middle of programs. It started to do this about 2 weeks ago but now it is getting to the point that even very simple programs in Crash the PC in the middle. It used to be before I could leave a torrent or down or I could leave Skype on but now anything will crash it. This means I'll have to start trying to save up some money if I can over the next few months. This is going to be even harder since I know people with the house or trying to go to AC so I'll have to pay for that first. Mostly I'm just really disappointed because this means basically I can't do anything on my own.
Kidney results/update
Posted 9 years agoJust wanted to let you guys know what happened yesterday at the Kidney specialist.
Basically Their are two different options going forward depending on what the doctors find out. The long and short is I am going to have to go in for a biopsy in the next few days, where they will use micro surgery tools to remove a chunk of my kidney and test it for blood borne issues.
The two things that could be wrong are either Diabetes (if it is this then their is little they can do other than try and get a new kidney eventually. It will mean suffering these same problems for years while eventually going on dialysis) or an autoimmune disorder. If it is an autoimmune disorder I would be able to manage issues with medication most likely. I did not consider this a possibility at first, however after talking to my mother I found out this is a very likely possibility. I was not aware but, My fraternal grandmother had Lupus, and my mother's sister also contracted Polio at a young age. This combined with my sisters autoimmune disorder means this could be a very likely situation.
I am not sure what I am hoping for here... I am currently still massively bloated from water weight gain (they did change my pills yesterday to a more intensive medication and I am hoping this will work.) In a few minutes I will be heading into town to see my cardiologist to see what can be done eventually about getting a heart transplant. Other than that things are the usual.... still not looking forward to Saturday but that's usual for my birthdays.

bleh...
Posted 9 years agoOne week till another year has passed and I can;t say it's been a very good one...
Spent most of this past year fighting the government in one way or another, and over the last few months my own failing body.
On that front I have two appointments next week. Wednesday i see my kidney specialist to find out how fast I will need one of those replaced (seems to be the right kidney as the left side of my body swells worse than the right) and then on Thursday I have my heart doctor to discuss when and if I can get the heart transplant done.
After that I have Friday off and then Saturday is my birthday. I am not looking forward to it as traditionally they haven;t been the best days of my life. I lost a grandmother on one (which my parents responded by shoving some transformers into my hand and telling me "get in the car Wes your grandma's dead"... not the best memory for a ten year old) and I've had issues with others. I am not expecting much this year. Half of the household is on reduced funds or are unemployed and I already received my gift from
jackthecoonbro which was a new PC chair.
As far as my money issues go they seem better at times... this month has been very hard since my mother had to borrow over 200 for her eye surgery. For some reason my sister is MIA so my mom had to use me as her bank this month.

and just to add
Posted 9 years agoAfter I posted the last journal... (literally a few seconds later) I accidentally dropped my phone when I got a sudden instant message. The screen hit my hardwood floor and shattered into a spiderweb.
Long story short my cheapest option is to pay about 100 to get an "early upgrade" by turning in a past phone I happened to squirrel away for a rainy day.
Just very tired lately. No matter what I do I will have to use my now tape covered crappy cell phone for the next 3-4 weeks till i get paid.

so....
Posted 9 years agoWell i got back Monday from another extended stay at the hospital. I found out that at this point my kidneys and heart are fighting each other much worse than I had ever thought. I had noticed a massive amount of water weight gain all of a sudden and it turned out my water pills were no longer draining fluids.
Upshot of this is I am now on a crash liquids diet (1200 ML) along with... well... I have been placed on notice that i now need to go get on the heart transplant list. I am not sure how long this will take, and along with it I will most likely be seeking a kidney transplant. The major problem with this will be finding a heart with my blood type (o negative) .
Just a heads up of why I have been very in and out lately. I have a lot of docs lined up.

First Kidney results
Posted 9 years agoSo I went into the specialist today to see what the plan is for my kidneys.
Basically what i was told is that my kidney function is at about 30% of normal at the moment. Theirs a lot of different reasons this could be (from simple kidney stones to renal failure) So they will need more testing before anything serious happens. I have been told that if their is no improvement I will probably be stuck on dialysis in about 3-5 years.
I have already done a lot to try and get some improvement. I have cut out all NCIDS drugs (ibuprofen, etc.) and I have also cut down my consumption of both food and liquids by 1/2.
They are discussing the possibility in the future of a pancreas and kidney transplant (something I did not know they could do at once.)

Whats happening
Posted 9 years agoJust a follow up from the last journal.
Basically what happened was not a heart attack but it was an issue due to the cold/flu I had. The main reason I spent so long in the hospital however was the fact that my Kidneys are apparently rapidly failing. My numbers are very high and this caused them to keep me for at least four days to observe me. I have an appointment to see a kidney specialist on the 29th but this looks to be the early stages of Kidney Failure. I haven;t been online much because I haven;t been feeling the best in general and I have been in and out of doctor appointments.

Posted 9 years agoJust letting you all know. Had some odd pains/difficulty breathing. Looks to be the precurser to a heart attack. I may be MIA for awhile.

Jackthecoonbro I would title the journal that...
Basically after nearly six months of difficulties I have finally fixed my social security info and gotten my SSI started/reinbursed.
This means I shouldn't be under as much financial strain anymore.
