I am currently making it a bit of a point to talk about a book i had finished the other day and which I found rather stood out as a really nicely written and moving example of furry fiction.

I generally always enjoy stories taking us back to the very distant past, or a fantasy approximation of it. Add in both anthros and humans and I am already interested. Especially when the anthro is a big, strong Gnoll.^^
But Rafts also really touched on that nostalgia for a relatively simple boyhood adventure story, while mixing it with the m/m romance I did not know back then I longed for in my escapist sojourns.
It very much kept me engaged and I was finding myself really invested in the characters to the degree that the book also really made me cry at one part. ^^ ;
It is also a story with plenty of joyful parts, so, do not let it discourage you. I think the author did well in providing consolation for the sad bits as well. And, well, you guys might not be as easily brought to tears as this cat. ^^ ;
I do think the author deserves more recognition and I hope I can get some of you interested, too!

I do personally really recommend the audiobook version, though the book / ebook have some very beautiful illustrations you should not miss on (that, and Amazon does offer a discount for the audiobook if you buy it as an ebook).

I often had the situation as a reader, where I wanted to read or reread a story on here on my phone, maybe in bed, already getting all comfy for falling asleep, maybe while out and about or such and one issue here is this:
Many people, due to FA not being the best about story posting (default TXT is not really particularly good, I want the comment with the basic intro BEFORE the story, not after, thank you) tend to nowadays go with PDF, a format most browsers handle very easily and conveniently, saving you the extra steps of downloading it and viewing the story in some other program.
...but this comes with one downside. Namely, that PDFs with a default A4 / Letter page size are not really mobile friendly.

So, my idea was to switch over to having my PDFs all in A5 size, closer to a typical paper back.
That way, they are pretty decent to read on a typical size phone AND can be read two pages on screen at a time on pc, similar to how you often would have an Ebook Reader set up or to how a good old open book would look like.

I personally think this is working out rather well, but I wanted to hear from anyone who might chance upon this journal what your take is.

Since Deioth is a dear friend of mine and I still cherish the happy memories of having fun with his interactive story "The World of the Sentients", I wanted to do something about the fact that alas, like quite some good vore interactive, it has disappeared for a long while now from Writing.Com.
Luckily, I came across a charitable soul posting a backup of the thing, so it at least had not been lost to all of us. Still, I do think it deserves being made more accessibly again, so, with Deioth's kind permission, I decided to post it on Eka's Portal for all of you guys to enjoy.^^

I did use a mod to get rid of the default bandages, just look for "nude" under Dragon's Dogma on NexusMods.^^

I have overall had a lot more output this year and the one before in terms of getting to write stories, but I have been thinking about trying to do a couple of shorter ones for a change, maybe more in line with "The Minotaur and the Snake Prince" or "Before the Banquet" in terms of length or even a bit shorter.
I do observe that when I read erotic fiction, I definitely come back to shorter ones rather often - or alternatively that I will skip ahead to the "climax", so to say, in a longer story. And while I definitely tend to enjoy doing the "whole thing", with a bit of setup, backstory and description, I guess others might also appreciate something more focused on the sexual bits.

I still do have at least two longer stories that are in the works, one set in a world of scalies where prey species males have to cometo terms with the fact that sooner or later, they will end up someone's lunch and another for  Kumbartha's Dragon Debacle series. But aside from those, I do think I shall try a few shorter vignettes and see if they prove popular enough.

Well, if anyone does actually read that, I sure would welcome your feedback on short vs long stories, especially those of a vorish nature.^^

I have been to Berlin to attend Eurofurence for the first time, together with a very sweet Japanese friend of mine.
I have to say I found it really nice, I got to attend many events based on story writing, talk to Kyell Gold in person (and he is really nice and pretty gracious about people being a bit fanboyish; -) ) and get a book signed.^^

I also got to meet and talk to many people, artists, fursuiters and others and overall enjoy myself a lot - and buy lots of souvenirs!
There are lots of great artists I definitely need to follow, Eurofurence allows you to see so many people who you might miss out on otherwise.

All in all, people were pretty friendly and approachable and at leasy I did not run into any Drama or madness of other sorts.

I do really regret though not getting to stay at the Estrel, the mood and atmosphere was really nice.

Overall, I think I feel a lot more inspired to put out stories and I think it definitely taught me that writing circles (and having events where you get tips from professionals) are more helpful than I tended to assume.

Plus, I even got to talk politics and such with people who I think are definitely not coming from the same position as me and it was cordial and tended to touch on enough common ground.

Furries tend to be a really diverse lot in the sense that actually means something, you get to have people with all sorts of opinions, interests and other attributes that really feel meaningful while also sharing the common experience of being a bit different from many others.

I think it made me appreciate the "fandom" a lot more and makes me hope that this creativity and heterogenity can be kept alive and thriving.

I shall see how much of that spirit I can keep up to improve, be it about getting closer to that body one really wants to have, writing more or getting over some of those pesky insecurities weighing one down.

But seeing everyone making such a great effort in so many ways really is great!

I had been talking with beastlyman about roleplaying quite a few times lately and it does make me regret that while I get a lot of nice roleplaying done, I never yet got to do my pen and paper hobby with people who share some or all of my twisted interests.^^

I have had quite my share of god and bad roleplaying over the years, but while I have done really lots of pen and paper and lots of kinky chat based rping, I yet have to do the middle ground of good solid roleplay paired with some delving into the furry and kinky stuff on the side.

What I would like is making an RPG group with a nice gay furry fantasy theme, including its share of kinky moments while still focusing on all the fun adventuring, dungeon crawling or playing the monster in a dark, dark world that I came to love in my pen and paper time.


So, my qustion to the reader, anyone of you with a strong Pen and Paper background who might be interested?
I guess with the limits of already having two players from across the world and full time tables, it would not be more than a bi-weeky at best, but I think it could be fun to try nevertheless.

A friend of mine has just finished putting an English version (translation courtesy by me) of a vore themed manga of his on sale digitally, so, to every interested vore fan out there, I can only recommend to have a look.

Kokuryu mainly does monsters feasting on males, to be particular, on male dragons sporting the internal genitalia typical for reptiles, though he has females mixed in for good variety every now and then.
He has developed his own world for his stories, aptly named Return World for the peculiar fact that while dragons are a staple of many creatures diet and can expect to quickly fill a hungry beast's empty belly, their soul migrates on, continuing in a cycle of predation and rebirth.
A detailed explanation of the dragons' life-cycle and anatomy is attached to the manga as well.

If the idea of nicely built muscular but cute looking dragons getting molested by pretty much everything in their ecosystem, ranging from hungry wolf anthros to tentacled monstrosities, before making their way to their purpose as a good fuck and an even better meal doesn't stir your predatory (or preyish) fancies yet, I think a look at the sample pictures on the sale sight might give reason enough.

DL site is a vednor for digital doujinshi, indie games and similar stuff from Japan, but since the site features a very solid English version, purchasing products is very easy.
While usually, both credit card and Paypal are supported products in the adult section are only purchasable by credit card.
For anyone though who lacks the option of credit card, Kokuryu has proclaimed interest in doing direct paypal / dropbox based sale, so I think it should be possible for those lacking a credit card of their own.

Seeing it often enough and never quite understanding it, I do really feel compelled to ask: What does atract those people to vore, who strictly wnt to keep it on the tame side?
I mean, vore joke pics, pictures which try to rather convey the horror of being eaten and such or convey and image that appens to involve creatures eating each other but isn't really just aboutthe pure act of it, ie, pics that aren't supposed to be fetish art are something different, but what is the deal about vore that reads, looks, behaves or plays out like a fetish drawing / story or roleplay but doesn't deal in the sexual part?
If it doesn't humour, arouse or frighten, if it doesn't want to convey a message, if it is pretty much purely about "I want to see character x eaten by character y" / "I want you to eat me" or vice versa, well, what is the point in it?

I do know of people who say that they indeed are complete vore fetishsit in the psychological sense, solely aroused to vore and otherwise asexual in regards to, well, having sex or imagining sex with people, but I did get the impression, both from the fact that enough people with "no sex in vore" policies are not averse to sex as such and the apparent rarity of asexuals encountered in everyday real life by me so far, that this alone couldn't explain it fully.

So, what do people, including the reader, if he happens to fall into this category "get" from vore?
Investing time searching out partners and playing it out as roleplay, writing it into a story or searching for such, paying money to have it drawn with their characters is enough to make the question of what reward is seen in that interesting.
It just seems all so much more like how people deal with sexual fantasies compared to how they deal with power fantasies or with fantasies of being part of a story they admire.

Most vore sites treat vore as a fetish, stressing the need of the viewers to be 18+, vore is most often listed with fetishes like zoophilia, pedophila and other such, stuff that is usually all about the act of sex or the sexual portrayal of certain things, even if the fetish is not shared, the intention to be erotic is usually rather easy to perceive.

Also, I have often perceived how people strogly divided the vore fandom can be on this issue, with people quite often having little understanding for the opposite view point.

In short, I'd quite like not to be as much in the dark about this issue anymore: What makes people not want to have sex in vore if they aren't completely averse to sex in the first place?

I have been considering buying an ebook reader for a pretty long time now and was actually pretty close to settling for a kindle DX when the Ipad was launched and the new option, Tablet PC VS Ebook-Reader was added to the fray.^^
In the end, I did settle for a tablet pc, simply because having the option to also surf the web, watch videos and check emails was something I rather liked in a portable device - and Kindle DX unfortunately doesn't offer the web browser and some other features where I live... ^^ ()
So, since I am no big fan of apple and closed systems in general, I was waiting for a tablet which allowed me to do all the stuff the Ipad thinks you shouldn't do - and also one which was perhaps a tad bit bigger...^^

Well, right now, I am eyeing the new WeTab which will be released next month, but am also checking any news on other tablets, for example the HP Slate, the Adam Tablet and of course the rumoured Ipad rival Google is set to toss into the fray.^^

...but I admit openly that I am not really a big computer expert, so, I am also open for any other alternative.^^

Well, so far, has any of you bought a tablet PC?^^

And if yes, what are your experiences so far? Have you a product you can recommend?

Stemming from the forum RPer crowd, I'd entered the scene of furry RP with the rather firm tendency towards full paragraphs, third person and writing as in a narration - and most of my initial partners used to be the same.

Lately, I seem to see just as much though with the tendency towards first person, shorter, up to just having the characters talk in pure dialogue form and writing as in a drama, with actions given in *s or parenthesis.

The thing I find surprising is that many people I encountered seem so fixed on their respective style that they often don't even ask about which style you usually choose.
I have to say, especially at the beginning, it often surprised me quite a lot when I found myself in an introduction where both had diametrically opposed styles, which is also the reason why I started learning the short, "drama" style to complement my own "novel" style, as I like to call them.

Thus, to any RPer reading this, I'd love to ask you how your experiences are.^^
Do you ever get in trouble because of clashing styles?
How do you usually solve it when it occurs and what is your personal impression to which is actually more prevalent among your playmates?^^
And lastly, which do you think is superior - and why?^^
