Back to FA & old pieces
General | Posted 2 years agoLong time no see.
I went back and forth on whether I wanted to upload the many remaining Refsheets I never put online. Some of those were my best works, but to be honest, the reason why I didn't upload them back then was that uploading commissions is always a bit of an advertisement that you're open for commissions. Since I no longer do them, I guess that point hasn't changed. Also, it's been so long that some people have already moved those characters to their non-active ones and have new Sonas/Alter Egos. So, let's just skip over this barricade and go back to uploading!
Some other related stuff:
I moved most stuff to scraps. I prefer to leave commissions online in case a commissioner (and myself) would ever lose the file. At the end of the day, a gallery is still a form of cloud storage and a useful backup. So if you're looking for something I made in the past, it is there, UNLESS it was a Pokémon base-level NSFW piece. Then please contact me privately, and I'll see if I still have that file.
I'm also giving itaku a try. If you want to use the site too, here's my profile link:
https://itaku.ee/profile/yarik.
What's the benefit compared to FA? It has a tweet-style social structure AND a gallery feature. It allows me to upload WIPs in posts and hide them from said gallery, so I can show progress on character stuff. My recent Refsheet for my own character took a year to complete, and I regret that I wasn't able to share the WILD ride that one was (went through several redesigns, learning blender, downloading anime character creators, learning to animate so I could draw a full-on 2d turnaround of the head, and whatnot, all for a rather mundane-looking boy in a uniform, lol).
On a side note: It is fine to unwatch me in case you won't like what I upload. Wanting a dashboard/inbox that interests you is nothing against the artists you have to remove, even if we know each other :> I don't plan any controversial content, it's just that I'm not sure if what my style lands on will be in line with what I've been drawing previously. I also experiment a lot, aaaaand I have human characters. I'm not sure if I'll upload solo content from them here, but EH. It's a possibility.

Happy New Year! -random unimportant (seriously) babble-
General | Posted 7 years agoI hope you all had the opportunity to relax before the new year started! It was rather fine to me, allthough I tend to not take long breaks ever as I like being busy, even if I'm forever upset that days are only 24 hours long :p
Soooo I saw lots of people doing that new-years-resolution-thing and thoguht I'd share some thoughts too. (This is just random rambling and as you might guess: Totally unimportant to read. But hey, journals are incredible optional so I never really feel bad for writing too much in journals.)
As usual my new year resolutions are just more cool projects (not necessary art-related) and to actually show –something- of my headworld. As simple as that seems I managed to fail the unspecific art goal quit often. The last two years were especially sad. At some point I joked towards a friend that I'd like to finish at least one more personal image in 2018 so I can end the year with an amazing count of *two* pieces! But as I went to the 2018 folder it appeared to be empty. Apparently I was thinking of the 2017 folder where the ONE other personal image was... oups. TIME PASSED QUICKLY I GUESS.
Although I did start some reference sheets (haha) for my own characters last year but didn't finish any, so maybe that still counts a little.
It's kinda my own fault too as I did take some evenings for personal art but ended up playing a game instead - usually after I broke my head on what to draw first.
I was always busy worrying if people could-get- what I was showing/writing or if they couldn't because they haven't seen/read scene XY previously and shouldn't I introduce every character first? By a reference? Or rather a stand-alone picture that is far more interesting and THEN upload a reference?? I finally decided to calm down and just throw in random pictures with random snippets of my stories. No need to make it chronological or smart structured as people will always find stuff individually and have no clue what's going on anyways. And without that stress I might actually be able to draw something personal once in a while. (Once a month would be WONDERFUL. Unlikely but I can dream :p) The random snippet-non-system could even be positive as many of my favorite artists tend to write and draw without any order and show random scenes and –personally- I really like the puzzle aspect of it all. Perhaps someday someone will like to read through all 10 (haha) of my short scenes and make sense of the world they are set in. Who knows!
Sooo I'm looking forward to get some personal stuff done this year. I already finished one piece. That's more than last year so I already won lmao.
That said: Tomorrow I'll be back to drawing commissions and hopefully deliver updates to everyone that is waiting for one. (The end of January also has exams for me and in February there are two projects that require HTML5 & CSS & javaScript & PHP and more knowledge I don't have (yet) and I also have to learn to use Adobe After effects and edit/animate an entire short opening sequence for an university project that we're delivering in March aaaaaaaaaaand YES. Much learning! And drawing! And working! I like where 2019 is going already, although it -could get a little overwhelming x"D Still, I’m looking forward to learn A TON and to work on more cool design concepts of people <D See you soon!)

Anyone knows an artist that draws ALL the Spyro dragons?
General | Posted 7 years ago...because that's something I honestly intended to do every time I "free" a statue, but somehow missed the line where it said "It won't come to PC or Switch", which are the gaming platforms I have. RIP.
And now I'm sad that "I won't have time when it releases" isn't the problem anymore but rather "I won't play it in the next three years" :'p
I really like the idea of it as I LOVE that they seemingly gave every dragon an own design?? Awesome! I didn't have a lot of time to go through FA and deviantArt but so far I haven't spotted such a project or heard of it. Did anyone see anything of the likes?
(SFW or NSFW and can be sketches too, or a mix, whatever!)PS: Yes, I do have stuff to upload but will hold back until I finished aaaall the commissions that are currently running. Which, I planned (As far as you can actually plan design work), to be in very early December
Aaaand sick (aka life hates me D:)
General | Posted 7 years agoWELL the „good news“ for commissioners is that the symptoms started to get weaker this morning. Which is why I finally managed to get my phone and write a quick journal.
I haaaaaate this. I really didn’t have the time to stay in bed (or the bathroom) all day long, urrrgh. But at least I can’t appear to work for an entire week due to being at risk to carry the virus around. Same for university. (Which sucks big time as it’s the beginning of this semester and I miss all important information <_>)
At least I can concentrate on finishing the last commissions. Like, finally B/
Sorry everyone. I really hate to make you wait :<

Bus Busy Busy (and slight delays)
General | Posted 7 years agoHey all!
The great news first: I found a small job next to my university days and apparently they intend to keep me, yai!
I'm mostly designing stuff for them so double the yai! BUT they have an upcomming event and need a ton of stuff for it so I've been working a lot of extra hours to design and print it all. The event is this Friday so after that I'll have a more regular work-study-free-time-routine :)
This also means I'll keep avoiding being social for a while and get back to everyone with commissions updates this weekend instead. Thank you all so much for the patience! I just wanted to make sure I leave an info somewhere in case someone is looking for a life-sign but too shy to message me directly, hah.
(Also: I'll start uploading stuff again after the current commissions are done.)
See you soon! :v

My secret heir
General | Posted 7 years agoSix years ago, in 2012, I was blissfully ignorant and thought my art skills where actually good (while drawing anatomical abomination), I was so full of myself that I had the guts to go out and.... created a Flash game. One of those that people use to create characters.
.... RENAMON CREATOR. A super shitty click-to-change-colors&clothes-style "game" that had a ton of scribbly vector drawings and really unfitting decorations. It felt like nobody even used it. These "genius flash works" got so buried in dA nobody besides your watchers ever found it. It was so personal that I created a whole big dress-up-game for a friend to parody their character.
All that was done on a second secret account because for some reason. Naturally I deleted the account once a friend found it and just went back to my big one. Not much later I quit dA overall and joined FR in an attempt to be alone with my gallery FOR WHATEVER REASON.
Anyways. The Flash games where lost. They just disappeared as my account was deleted and while I used to have the flash-files I never intended to "bless" FurAffinity with my """games""" because back then I actually found some self awareness and realized that my drawings were... "not that good" to put it kindly x"D
Today, six years later, I tried to find a specific humor-comic I once created. In a desperate attempt to win back what was lost forever I searched around on dA, couldn't remember my account name and just searched for "Renamon Creator" because I knew some folks actually made shitty Flash Renamon.
Turns out it wasn't just a couple of them either. The ""game"" was quiet popular with a bunch of people and they were sad it was lost. (I'M SO SORRY LMAO)
But some hero with good internet browser skills had saved a backup and uploaded it on Dropbox.
Yes. That thing.... it is still out there. He wasn't active for two years or something but made sure the Dropbox link lives on.
Not only that but I also found links to a German fansite hosting it.
It took some scrolls through the Renamon tag on dA but the most recent uploads where from July. July 2018 guys.
I'm sitting here, crying in laughter because every once in a few months someone finds out about the RENAMON CREATOR V2 and uploads a badly recolored Renamon with DEVIL WINGS, VAMPIRE TEETH, ZOROARK TAIL, Neon Blue and Red colors or green hair and similar abominations and types up some meme-worthy OC-description for it. Or just... uploads a bunch of Super hero Renamon with a cape in 5 different colors. It's amazing.
Yes. This is it. This is the work that gets shared around for 6 years straight. Not any of my bad fanarts from back then and no bad fanart I'll ever do will reach this level of "importance" that people are actually going out and trying to save it from fading. I could delete everything today and nothing will be known about me 10 years later but the Renamon Creator V2 will still be out there. Nobody knows who made it but it sits there, waiting for that one unfortunate soul that'll think it's actually good and spend time on it to create another recolored superhero or vampire Renamon and put it out there to remind the deviantArt Renamon-tag that it'll never be free of the agony that are recolored OCs.
My legacy has been forged.
Edit: I bothered to check the game more properly. It actually reads "Renamon SUBSPECIES creator V2" ahhahahahahah. And it has bugs, of course. But my favorite thing is how the starting screen says PRE-RELEASE
I LOST IT.

Alone again
General | Posted 7 years agoA big thanks for the patience of everyone! I'll use the rest of this day to clean the house and do some drawing practices before I'll get back to commissions tomorrow.
I'm motivated to finish a lot this comming week so let's see how it goes! :D

Update regarding Commissions
General | Posted 7 years agoHi all!
I just wanted to drop an update that I'm currently having a visitor and had to work the entire week while also celebrating my birthday this weekend. I'll be back to drawing all day long starting on Monday and get updates out to everyone.
Thank you so much for the patience so far! Nobody messaged me yet to ask for an update so I thoguht I'd write a quick journal to show I'm alive without having to spend an hour writing mails :"D
Hope that's okay.
See you all soon!

Exams and new uploads
General | Posted 7 years agoHeya, I'm not dead!
I've actually finished most commissions of the last two months and will upload them one after one once I'm done with this exam period (the last one is on the 9th April) I'll probably also open Commissions some time during April.
Sooo I'll be more active on FA during April, I guess. At least that's what I'm planning x)

Happy New Year!
General | Posted 8 years agoI wish everyone a happy new year! Have tons of luck and good experiences please c:
2017 probably was one of the worst years I've ever had so I'm giving my best to make 2018 better.
Also, thanks to everyone who patiently waited for my slow butt during the holydays! I'm back to a regular small job in the morning (at least for January, hoping to find something fixed for the rest of the year afterwards so I stop having financial issues) and that actually helps me to get in some routine for art as well. I intend to finish all remaining commissions within the next three weeks, if possible, so I can go into my exam-period without other work besides the job.
Other than that.... I still wish each day would have 30 hours. That'd really help as I rarely have time to talk to anyone nowdays, haha. Sorry to all I keep abandoning, I'll try to catch up with you in mid-January after I get that huge to-do-list smaller .-."
So uh, do I have new year resolutions for art?
Well, yes! Let's just throw in some so I can look at these back in July and regret to not have fulfilled anything yet, lmao:
► Draw something of quality for Rey/Kylo Ren (Star Wars) and learn to draw humans, damn. At least TRY it.
► Draw/Paint a meaningful surreal piece
► Draw AND Upload a species/race reference, no matter how crappy
► Draw AND Upload a character reference (that isn't Razaél), no matter how crappy
► Draw AND upload at least one piece that allows to speak about the relation of Saksen and...birds.
► Decide on a goddamn name for the bird people. Avians? Garuda?? Tengu??? Something really british???? Random fantasy letter soup?????
► Draw AND Upload a finished piece or several sketches of "Sage"s. You're proud of the concept, stop hiding it from everyone out of shame, damn it.
Aaaand that's it! I really hope I can kick my butt to actually draw something "for myself" this year and start telling some stories, or at least mention them. I don't understand why this is so difficult for me or why I hesistate so much to show anything at all but I really should try to fight that.
So, let's hope for a good year!

Commissions are -edit- CLOSED
General | Posted 8 years agoEdit: Thanks all! I'm full now. You can expect a new journal opening in December but I can't promise when exactly. (The StarWars release, christmas and new year will delay things so I'll have to consider that as well. I don't want to make anyone wait forever for updates.)
Edit: Also, can I add that I HATE the current Euro->USD rate? Not to mention CAD. When you try to offer nice cheap prices but your currency is an expensive one it sucks :<
My prices are all written in USD now. EU-folks can simply say "oh it's this price, except cheaper! which is a much better experience than having Americans convert the euro price and get a shock. Mind you, I once was able to take 50€ commissions for 50$. Now it's 60$. Thanks Euro! D:
Hi all!
Soo the last two projects are progressing well and I expect to be able to start doing commissions again very soon. (Probably by the end of the week)
Thus, I'm officially open again! I'm currently working on a new commission-information page as well as a visual one.
My prices are in mid-range. Most reference sheets you can find in my gallery cost about 50€/$60.
Since I'm also back studying I'll only take 2 commissions at a time. (Or three if all of them are reference sheets)

Back home
General | Posted 8 years agoI'm back home!
Everything in hospital went well and now all I have to do is to pick up on university stuff, get back to drawing and also find a job.
Once I finished the last remaining commission and a long promised piece I might be open for a short time.
If that happens I'll write a journal!
Thanks for all well wishes, perhaps they helped! c:I'm freeeeee!
General | Posted 8 years agoJust a little update: My exams are over. FINALLY.
Commissions will move forward a lot faster now (Thanks everyone for the great patience!) and I'll start uploading stuff again.
The test-adoptables are still on my list and hopefully I can finish them in the next couple of days.
I also have some other fun ideas but they have to wait until Novemeber as I'll be in hospital soon.
(Which is also the reason why I closed commissions recently.
I shouldn't be away for too long but I'd rather not have to make anyone waiting for weeks!)
First Adoptables soon
General | Posted 8 years agoAll warm-ups/relaxing phases currently sink into design ideas for the first two adoptables and I'm pretty sure I'll finish them.
I aim to release them in Early to Mid-October. (Around the 15th, even though exams and social life are getting into my way quiet a lot currently :/ )
They are going to be somewhat related to each other, yet completely different. Since they are tests I'll have them in two different forms:
One will be up for auction with extras when certain prices are reached and the other will have a fixed price but with possible upgrades to purchase. So the prices & extras you get are somewhat the same. I need to know what works better: A flexible Auction that works per demand or a direct-buy where I have to guess what price is fine?
That said I'm also designing them with the possibility in mind that they might not sell at all. I'll gladly use them as my own characters in that case. Lot's of effort and love are put into these designs.... but since I design them after my taste they might be somewhat odd for the adoptable-market. Anyways. LET'S FIND OUT! :")

General | Posted 8 years agoOkay it's about time I get rid of that 6 month old journal from my page, hahaha. WELL that’s not the only reason for this journal. I also wanted to address a couple of things regarding commissions & art uploaded.
First of all: Thank you! Especially everyone who commissioned me in the past. Thanks to you I managed to get through some other wise difficult months! And for the first time ever I actually have to close my usually-always-open-commissions as I'm constantly full! It's unbelievable but even though I stopped posting on the art-forum and didn't upload any new images I kept getting new commissions. It's been in a good flow and I finally have to adjust my behavior a little:
Since I only have about 300 watchers (and who knows how many are actually active) I had to rely on some other tactics than writing commission-journals. I used to hold back art until I had only a single active commission left and then posted finished reference sheets in hope to get noticed by those that were looking for somebody to draw/design their characters. That moment of “I have only one commission left!” didn’t happen for nearly two months now, though. I guess I can start to upload stuff as I finish it instead of holding it back for convenient timed self-promotion, wowi!
I'm really amazed that I got somehow noticed, probably due to many of you that recommended me to friends. Thank you so much!
Also, I never felt like giving watcher-depending projects/commission types a try but I might actually do some experiments during late September & early October!
YCH commissions had been a thing I’ve been interested into. I’d like to try out more scenes with multiple characters interacting and YCH allow people to get their characters drawn for a much lower price. (I intend to do fixed prices for now)
I’m also in love with the idea of doing adoptable. Not the “one lineart, 5 recolors”-thing but unique designs without any type of strange usage-rules. Whether a fixed price or an auction would be best for those is something I’d like to decide by trying both. I have a thematic idea for the first two adoptables too.
And finally there is the idea of a watcher/community-project adoptable. The design will be created through voting and the final result will be up for sale. It’s something I’m looking forward to try out as I haven’t seen something alike around yet. That might be fun for watchers too and give me some unexpected design challenges :”)
Overall I’m a bit worried if I’ll find buyers or participators for these things at all but I think it’s about time to give these fun alternatives a try!
(I didn't forget about my own characters or stories either but I'm honestly having more fun drawing for others right now. My own species are a bit troublesome as I change their details too often)
Thanks again to all of you for having made my life a LOT better through the harsh time :”)

I LIVE
General | Posted 8 years agoOkay so I'm back from hospital - which turned out double the lenght it should have been and in general a lot went wrong because luck is not my strogest attribute o_ó" (At some point I woke up to the words: "Did you try lottery? Well you should have because getting this twice in a row is less likely than winning there."
Spoiler: I got it four times. Wtf.exe)
I especially loved how WLAN was 5€ a day (I couldn't buy it, obviously haha), the WLAN stick failed me and I wasn't even able to use a Laptop in 3 weeks. Oh and once I could and wanted to draw I dropped the Pen on the second day ONCE and... it... broke lol. RIP bamboo tablet.
Overall I couldn't upload any of the commissions (dont worry, everyone got their commissions privately days before I left.) or finish my stuff as I intended to do. OH WELL. At least the hospital overall was really good.
I'll do some personal works first and upload those shortly after the commissions. It's best if I get used to draw again while working on harmless things rather than something someone paid for. Once I feel ready to tackle commissions I'll contact everyone who wanted one before I left, though :)

On commissions & inactivity through February
General | Posted 9 years agoHi there!
I thought I'd do a little status update. I'm currently studying for exams & working on commissions every evening afterwards. I kinda have set a deadline for myself, which is the end of January or latest early February.
Starting on the 10th February I'll be gone for about a month (hospital, although nothing serious it's still rather complicated and will keep me there for a while. I'll also have one arm fixed and cannot sit up so I dunno when/how I'll be able to draw there. I'll take a laptop and my old tiny graphic tablet but I don't know if I can use them :v)
I'd rather finish all commissions until then to not create a large waiting time for anyone.
That said, I'm incredible thankful for the commissions I got since I was able to pay my study loans with them. (Took exactly 6 ref sheets. WOWY they surely raised the price a lot last year <__<)
I originally planned to get a job in spring but it might depend on my study plans and my condition after the hospital. If drawing works better than anything else I might try to get around with commissions instead.
I’ll create an update journal once the time comes for that : )

General | Posted 9 years agoHi all!
Long story short: Average Germans are naturally terrified of red numbers but also of money loans. Therefor I'd much rather stay up some hours into the night and work on some fun characters than being like -100€ on my bank account until next month. (Also in the series of: Yarik is very good forgetting about incoming bills.)
Commission prices are flexible for budgets of many kinds. Pretty much everything "full" you find in my gallery costs 50€ but there can be done cuts to lower the costs. (Look up the flexible options!)
Since long journals are really uncomfortable to read I decided to use the commission-tab FA offers for all the information:
Commission information can be found here
Everything is in EUR but you can find a Currency converter right here
ALL TAKEN.
Thanks!

Commissions CLOSED
General | Posted 9 years agoEdit: Slots are taken, thanks a lot!
My exams are finally over and that means I have enough time to work on more commissions again!
Since I desperately need more examples of Anthros in my gallery my NSFW Anthro commissions of any of the "known species" are $10 cheaper: Canids, felines, (western) dragons, equines and sergals.
For now I'm offering $60 scenes (any view, colored shaded piece, one or two characters with a simple or medium-complex background.)
Examples for scenes:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17517248/ (NSFW)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19511701/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17046156/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19478622/ (NSFW)
Alternatively I'd also offer colored sketches for $30. (Full-body, colored with a rough shading. No background)
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19205113/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19355368/ (NSFW)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/19193394/
Any commission type can be either feral or anthro, SFW or NSFW.
RULES:
-You can comment here, contact me via note or write an E-mail to 1992rafaelmartin[at]gmail.com
-Payment first via Paypal
-I'll keep the journal marked as open until both slots are filled.
-Unless you like the "roulette" type of commission I'll do three or more thumbnails for the scenes of which you can choose one.
-Sketches are very flexible for edits
-After the lineart was approved by you I'll only do minor edits to the final picture.
-I'll upload commissions to my gallery but can reduce the resolution and add a commission-watermark on request.
-Commissions usually are completed within two weeks after the payment.
-Refunds are a yes - full refund during the thumbnail stage, afterwards the amount depends on how much I've worked on it so far.

General | Posted 9 years agoHi all!
This is something really minor but it buggs me. A lot. My message box shows "three journals"! for a while now and even if I nuke all messages the header still pretends there are three unseen journals. I have none in my actual message box.
Does anybody know how to fix this? :V

Update
General | Posted 10 years agoI'd wish I'd have something smart to update here.
I honestly just wanted to get rid of the "I'm on a break" journal because I'm back. Yai.

Commission - Looking for a partner for this handsome croc!
General | Posted 10 years ago
Zaurak is currently looking for a partner character (preferable female, but a male might be up for discussion) to get art with. It'd be a 50€ NSFW scene commission drawn by me. I can draw a specific wished pose or provide multiple sketched thumbnails to choose from.If you have any interest please comment below with your character/s you'd like to see drawn with him and whether you'd be willed to split the costs.
(Even if you currently can't afford a commission feel free to comment. The final decision will be up to Zaurak.)
The character:
SFW reference
NSFW reference
Previous Solo commission drawn by me
I hope to see some responses here! :)
Folders! And a general Update
General | Posted 10 years agoOh boy that old journal needed to be wiped off.
I just noticed those nice new folders FA got! Actually I'm a bit sad there are no favorite-folders (I really love to sore my references&inspirations in favorites on each site so I never forget who created them) but those gallery folders are really neat! Maybe, in a far far far away future I can use these as "taggs". Like making sub-folders for specific characters or story settings, whuuu!
Okay but until then: more art! I was in hospital for a rough week but am back now. Unfortunately there are also exams/finals ahead but I'm really motivated to draw my characters lately so I'm hoping to show you more soon! (Especially some actual anthros. Not just semi/demi humans, haha!)
Also a warm welcome to all new watchers! I'm really happy to see more people liking what I draw c:

Sketch collelctions Yay or Nay?
General | Posted 11 years agoPersonally I *LOVE* sketchdumbs. probably even more than finished artworks. But I'm not a watcher of myself.
Do you -honestly- would like to see sketchdumbs uploaded to my FA gallery or do you pretty much don't care / would prefer to only see completed artwork? (I also have an art tumblr and a Twitter account I could use for uploading sketches but I've never been to sure if I want my tumblr to be a sketchbook or an art blog, hmm.) Yeha well. I'd REALLY love to hear some opinions because hay folks, I'm not sharing/uploading artwork for myself or something, haha.
What's your opinion about sketchdumbs?
=============
Eh-- also. I was thinking about opening a journal where people can sort-of register their characters/wishes whatever and each time I hold a super quick raffle they could just say "me" and I could check their wishes out on said journal-list. Personally I'm often stressed out when I see open commissions but take an eternity picking my characters and wishes -> ending up always too late for the party. ((This would also allow me to do random doodles/random free arts or something, when I suddenly feel like it and don't want to wait x-days until people finished commenting. Especially since my mood/time probably ran out until then, haha.))
