Posted 12 years agoThe petition just got 150 signatures and is now public on the whitehouse web page! Thank you for everyone who signed it, endorsed it, and helped get the 150 signatures we needed to make this happen!
Now...it's honestly up to people who see the petition publicly and whether or not they'll sign it. I refreshed the page and instantly got about 3 signatures after that, so who knows. We'll see what kind of impact this petition makes and how many signatures it can get.

Posted 12 years agoRight now we're at 137 signatures. that is only 13 more signatures to go before it goes public. PLEASE. If you haven't signed it (U.S. citizen or not. Breaking News Regarding the worlds largest "Ex-gay" Ministry
Posted 12 years agoExodus International, the world's largest "Ex-Gay" Ministry, plans to shut down. This shortly came after an apology by the ministry about what they had done to individuals who were Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual. The founder realized that there was nothing they could do to redeem their image or trust so they are shutting it down and starting a new ministry to reevaluate their connections with the LGBT community and accept them as they are and not focus on what some perceive as sin:

I was completely shocked by this news. I didn't expect "their" side to take action to stop the harm they were doing. In fact I questioned the purpose of the petition...is there a point to it now? Should we continue to try and make a new law making those things that were done in harm to other people?
I talked with a couple people and they thought that the petition still holds a purpose because it still holds an issue. It is still an issue: there are still "ex-gay" ministries and there are individuals who want to change us. This is proof (not trying to throw it in their face but showing this as example) that this is a harmful action to do and there are victims. So the petition will still go forward, and we hope to make it public very soon.

I am sorry that I, knowing some of you so well, failed to share publicly that the gay and lesbian people I know were every bit as capable of being amazing parents as the straight people that I know. I am sorry that when I celebrated a person coming to Christ and surrendering their sexuality to Him that I callously celebrated the end of relationships that broke your heart. I am sorry that I have communicated that you and your families are less than me and mine. "

Petition: 8th Day - One Day too late
Posted 12 years agoI had set a goal of 150 signatures within 1 week of starting the petition. Once it reaches 150, it becomes public on the White house website and people don't have to have the link to sign it. Once it goes public, I hope it will take off like some of the other petitions on the web page. But once it goes public, I'll take a little break trying to get signatures. I'll do an analysis and start focusing on where I can get signatures in case I really need to put in a lot more effort to get this thing noticed.

Petition: 6th Day - Halfway there!!!
Posted 12 years agoDidn't do so well on signatures yesterday, but we're getting support from groups (listed below) and individuals that firmly believe in the purpose of this petition. I'm working on different ideas to get this petition out there, because we're behind. I was hoping to have 150 signature by tomorrow, but we're only at 83. I don't think at this slowing rate that it'll take another week, but we're struggling along.

Petition: Fifth Day - Personal Thank You
Posted 12 years agoWe practically filled yesterday's quota thanks to transfurs. It was right after they posted their journal endorsing the petition I saw the signatures pick up. This has me so excited. We are practically half way there to make it public and at this rate we'll make it by the deadline!

Petition: Fourth Day - Making progress but still need MORE!
Posted 12 years agoCurrently (while writing this journal) there are 44 signatures on the petition. We made HUGE progress thanks to Open_Arms & gayfurries endorsing the petition through a journal. I'm still waiting for other groups on FA to possibly endorse it as well but I'm close to doing all I can on the Internet to get signatures. I'm "lightly" working locally (because I'm partially in the closet...sad to say also on Facebook) but I need suggestions on what I can do to get more signatures. I will consider contacting anyone you think could help if you have suggestions.
I think the main thing would be for everyone who signs it to share it on Facebook, twitter, tumblr, or wherever you can share it to get the word out on it's existence. I would appreciate that very much.
Also, yes I'm going to pretty much be spamming your journals list with these possibly daily. This is because I created this petition and it is my duty to see that it gets the 150 signatures it needs. After that, I'm hoping it will take off on its own but I will still focus on getting the 100,000 signatures needed. Petition: Third Day - I NEED YOUR SIGNATURES! HELP!
Posted 12 years agoIt's been three days with this petition on the whitehouse web page and I only have 14 signatures at this time. At this rate (if the signatures are consistently gained) we could have enough signatures by June 27. That is too long. We need 150 signatures to make it public and then after that 100,000 signatures for it to even have a chance of making a difference. I want those 150 signatures within a week.
I firmly believe in the purpose behind this petition. It's because of these "ex-gay" ministries that my mom thinks there can still be a "cure" and it causes us to fight over the whole issue. Conversion therapy is harmful. The idea that you can change someone else's sexuality is corrosive to the victim undergoing the transformation. The claim that they can "cure" homosexuality just add's more fuel to the fire for homophobia.

Posted 12 years agoUnemployed, writing, and unfortunately will probably stay with my parents during the fall semester this year. Trying to get a job, and if you want a story, I'll try to work on it.

Deadly Mood
Posted 12 years ago Yesterday was probably the most horrible day of the month. The previous night we received Tornado Warnings, and as native Texans we were pretty much trained to take even the slightest precautions: power down computers for power surges, get the animals in a shelter, intently look for updates and signs, etc. Luckily, we persinally didn't get any damage luckily, but north of us they got hit quite a bit by hail and strong winds.
But aboput 30-40 minutes from here, Granburry got hit hard and 6 people died. It was sad, and we were grateful that we didn't suffer any losses personally. But six hours after the tornado's cleared we got a call.
My granny passed away due to kidney failure and in all honesty I'm glad. She was at the point of misery and pain. She had to hjave constant assistance to do ANYTHING and the only horrible thing to do is deal with mourning relatives that are taking her death harder than I am.
I guess the point of this is that we may avoid death, but it will come. There will be a day that will end our lives and we will leave this world. It's not necessarily wrong to loathe this, but to deny it is foolish and only makes things worse.

Posted 12 years agoI already answered this earlier to her, but my mom asked me this question again but in a different way. And this time she questioned, with aspect concerning recent issues on gay rights, how the gay community would react to this.
Suppose that scientists identified a "gay gene defect" and then eventually found a cure for it. Would you accept the cure? How do you think others would feel or react to it?

No more duplicate submissions
Posted 12 years agoHey guys, trying something new. Instead of posting commissions I get from other artists into my own gallery, I'll simply post a monthly journal explaining what I got. Then, I will update THIS journal after the next month with ALL commissions I've gotten.

dragoneer and he revealed that FA developers have thought of it), I find there's just data being wasted on FA's servers and honestly this will guarantee that the artist get's ALL of the favorites and comments they deserve.Do note, I will NOT be taking anything down in my gallery (because honestly it's a pain to look into your favorites and see something has been taken down by the owner). Anyway, starting in MARCH, here are the commissions I've received!!!

Posted 12 years agoI'm sure none of my furry friends say this but there's a phrase my mom apparently likes to use on my sister and I. "It's fun to piss you off." Why do people do this? Narcisism? One of my friend's brother and father do the same thing to her and I can't believe how far they take it. So just a nice little note to all of you, don't try to piss someone off for amusement. Think of it like pissing off a bee. Eventually they may sting back.
