Been sick, Recovered, Do what now?
General | Posted 12 years agoHey guys! I'm sorry I haven't been on this past half week, I got some kind of stomach bug Sunday, puked all day Monday, Puked half the day Tuesday, and started feeling better Yesterday. Weak, but much much better!
Now I'm feeling pretty much back to full strength, but my muse has left me :/
I have a few things I'd like to get done, but I think I may have sorta hit a wall in the creation process
I have a couple things I can work on for tonight that don't require much thought, like sewing (yey my thumbs just healed, let's gore them again!) and I still have a little painting to do, accents on larger projects.
I'm still waiting on a few things I bought a few weeks ago to get here so I can start a big batch of furs to tan. I did manage to get all my mail out for the week (well, my partner did, and hopefully he didn't mess anything up) Most of those packages were for DA people
Ugh, I hate that unproductive you get from being sick.... Now let's see how much I get done tomorrow (LOL!)

FUR TAILS!!!! Going back to the flea market in 2 weeks!
General | Posted 12 years agoI'll be going back to the flea market where I pick up my furs in 2 weeks, I'll be picking up some tails and faces again. And just like last time I'll let people make requests if there is something anybody was looking for.
The guy generally has tails from:
Fox (kit, grey, arctic, red and most red variants)
Coyote (I'll be picking a few of these up for sure, and I'm gonna try to not keep any for me...)
Lynx
Bobcat
Raccoon
Finn Raccoon
Mink
Fisher
Marten
SOMETIMES - Skunk, Wolverine, Badger, and Whitetail Deer
He usually has faces and scraps from most of those guys too.
Last time I went that had some lynx paws, but that was all the paws he had, no 'yote, bobs or foxes.
He does have a few full pelts, but I can honestly pick those up cheaper at my local trading post, They're also expensive so I don't want to pick those up for people (since I've had people back out in the past)
If you'd like something please let me know so I can make sure to pick that up, I'd like a deposit of at least $5 for any parts, this is 100% refundable if he does not have what you'd like in stock.
I'll post another reminder when it gets closer to that time.

Fox Talismans!!!! PS! Fertility and Virility charms?
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I'll be working on a few fox talismans tonight, I just got a few fox jaws from aalynn, most are missing all, or most of their teeth, none have the canines, but I'll be crafting these into portable talismans like these:

They'll have some fox fur, leather, and will come with a belt loop attachment, but I'll also be making a few necklace ones.
Now I know quite a few of you have been waiting for fox items from me (I don't know how these were so hard to track down.. like. For REAL) But I'll most likely only make 2-3 pre-makes, as of now, I'm open to suggestions for custom talismans. Since these don't have all their teeth I'm going to throw in a pocket talisman like this for free:

I just had another surprise visit from my sister for the holiday weekend, and let me say, I'm bushed @.@
My brother just told me over the weekend that he, and a few buddies of ours were going up to Philly next weekend to Wizard World! I'm only going to be up for one day, but I'll be going up in costume (not a fursuit of course) but I'll be wearing my paper mache mask/headdress and I'll be taking up whatever jewelry and smaller trinkets I have on had to try to sell. I'm really excited, this'll be the first convention I'll have gone to, and it's in Philadelphia, where I have a lot of old pals!
I'm not sure if many people in the furry community will be attending, but should you be close enough to attend the Philly Wizard World and you see a familiar trash-tribal 'posst priest don't be afraid to stop me and say hey!
In other notes:

Dishonorable Behaviors..
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm seeing this come up more and more, and it's something that really bothers me... But also something that I really don't discuss...
Between here and DA I've been seeing a lot of people selling animal parts very shadily and obviously mislabeling items. I've seen people selling pelts as 'might be mountable' when they are missing limbs or the sections of fur around the groin (Nakomii on DA did a GREAT comparision) , I've seen people sell canine necklaces claiming they are wolf canines when they are those 'Tibetan Wolf Teeth' Which, if you don't know, are coyote and domestic dog teeth from Asian food and fur industry. Wolf teeth are FAR larger, and the shape is very different. Not to mention people who sell these don't seem to be worried about state laws regarding sales of real wolf parts.
I've even seen people describe regular red fox pelts as 'designer' colouration just because the animal has black in it's tail. It's already kinda confusing with all the different colour morphs (which I'm NO expert in, I try to deal only with natural occurring morphs) But now I've seen people labeling pelts as 'bastard foxes' or 'hybrid coats' where these are supposed to be animals that are cross bred designer coat animals creating new types of fox colourations. Not to mention that a LOT of people don't realize that ALL those morphs are just colour mutations of the Red Fox, not a separate specie or breed. (This is a larger problem on DA, than here)
I've also started seeing a lot of vendors labeling their natural products as 'cruelty free' and that all their pelts come from roadkill, yet they'll have fully stocked shops and do not personally tan or treat pelts. Generally (especially in warmer months) if you come across a creature from an accidental kill unless the animal was freshly killed it's unlikely that you'll be able to properly preserve the pelt. It's also illegal in a LOT of states to pick up kills without a trapper license. If you see someone with a lot of pelts, regularly, that are called 'roadkill' pelts, you should really be asking questions... At least, 'how did you come across so many accidental kills'.
But it's something that really gets to me, it's deceptive. It's also REALLY pathetic to prey on people's ignorance, especially for people who work with remains on a spiritual level, and may not know all the tiny ways to identify animal parts. I don't ever call anyone out, because I 1.) don't want to sound like the authority on what's okay to sell, or make myself seem better than someone else and 2.) I don't like drama. I don't want to cause it, I don't want it on my page... But when I see things like this it really does get to me.
I'd just like to advise everyone. Please be aware of tricksters. If you'd like to purchase some type of bones, or skins, First. Educate yourself. Don't buy things online too quickly. Always ASK questions... Just be weary, folks...
I know when I say this, my word holds the same weight as everyone else's... But I will NEVER give out false information about my products or their origins...
I hope no one takes this the wrong way... I'm not trying to call any individual out. I just want to say to people who DO collect these types of things to stay on your toes. Look into bone comparison, not only will this keep you safe from scammers, but it's also a FUN little hobby!!!

Opossum Charm Necklaces - Gathering all mails!

I also have enough 'possum bits finally, I can do charm necklaces, so if you wanted one let me know so I can make up a few. (I can also add extra beads of your choosing!) The teeth I had were too small to drill so the possum ones I'm doing will be in a jar, but the price will be $18 on these. They'd contain: Opossum bone, Bundle of fur, and jar with a little fur, whisker, and a tooth, as well as a few other beads, just like these:

I'm looking at the stuff I have, and the stuff I've been intending on working into larger projects.... aaannnd...
I think I have too much again.
I don't like my personal collection to get TOO big... I have a few pieces I wouldn't mind passing on. I'm considering clearing quite a few things out, and moving stuff around. Some pieces are just too damn old, lol, and I don't think I could ever part with. I'm far too attached. But most of the other stuff I try to not be TOO attached to.... My PERSONAL collection is getting a bit too big, and I have a few hides that I had professionally tanned coming back to me... so that'll be MORE on my 'plate'
If I listed off a bunch of items, would anyone be willing to buy some display pieces?
I can probably name a few off the top of my head I KNOW I can part with, but I'd have to really sit down and decide what I know I want to keep.
I don't have a LOT that I'm super attached to, Although I treasure all my pieces (even small pieces that are intended for crafts) I don't really... solidly pair with most of them. I'm just honored to have worked with them. A lot of times, with me, it's just I'd like to see and touch these bones and feathers and such, really feel them, and I can easily let them go on their way.
I actually just recently gave one of my larger skulls away, because a friend gave it a compliment. I had intended of working it into a large piece, but I could tell he really appreciated! XD Plus, giving to friends feels great. :p
I know I have quite a bit I can let go, and a little extra money would make it easier for me to decide what stays and that goes XD

I can't believe it's only been a year! I wanted to do something a little more exciting than just mention it, but my weekends are just so busy these days, especially now that it's warmer out, and I can go work in the garden.
I'd just like to say here a HUGE thank you to all my watchers! I would not have kept up with this community if I did not receive such a warm welcome, and such positive responses to my work! And of course to all those who've been patronizing me, I'd squeeze every one of you! I'm so grateful for all positive experiences here, and of course to the friends I've made, I'm sending out SO much <3 to all of you!

I can't believe it's only been a year! I wanted to do something a little more exciting than just mention it, but my weekends are just so busy these days, especially now that it's warmer out, and I can go work in the garden.
I'd just like to say here a HUGE thank you to all my watchers! I would not have kept up with this community if I did not receive such a warm welcome, and such positive responses to my work! And of course to all those who've been patronizing me, I'd squeeze every one of you! I'm so grateful for all positive experiences here, and of course to the friends I've made, I'm sending out SO much <3 to all of you!

Contest or Auction?
General | Posted 12 years agoI have an idea for a kit that would include a smudge bowl, a few incense/herbs, a few stones, a fan, a medicine bag and maybe a decorated mat along with a few offering pouches, bones, feathers and other small talisman items.
I saw WolfTea (I only know her tumblr) did a contest a little while ago, she gave away 2 lots of natural items like bones stones, vials, and other such specimens. I thought it would be a cool idea to get a similar set together but instead of just putting a lot of cool things into it have the materials kinda go together in a useful way.
The only thing is I'm not sure how I should set something up like this (or if anyone would even be interested)
I was thinking about a contest, but I'm not sure what to ask of people. I'm not really a collector of drawn art, so I don't think a 2-d art competition would work great. I don't want to just do a raffle, because the prize will be tangible and I'll have to pay myself to ship it, aside from the cost of materials used to get this together.
I might just make the 'kit' and just auction it off, but I'd like to do something that could give some of my watchers something fun to do..

Surprisingly I've actually sold most of my wall hangs, and I recently cleared out all the medicine bags I made. I do have a few necklaces left over I'd like to place, I think I'll actually take a shot of what I do have in inventory. I also have a few pelt projects going on I can't wait to share XD

General | Posted 12 years agoI just bought a huge bag of sage, since I've been trying to send a little out with any items other than jewelry. I usually cleanse things when I pack them (I know a few people have already asked why their package smelt funny)
I burn sage a LOT especially on the weekends. I go through a bundle at least once a month. I've had to find new burning plates too, one for my kid rom (at my mom's) one for the kitchen, one for my 'altar' and one for outside. I just REALLY love the smell, it reminds me of home and my mom. It's one of those things that really takes me back :>

I'm still effing busy as ever... and my Mom just told me I might have to go up to NY to help my dad out with his dog walking service... He tripped and fell down (well... kinda up) a few stairs in his house... I'm not going to lie... I really don't WANT to go do that.. My dad will have me walking/sitting 3-5 dogs a day and he'll only give me enough money to basically buy food. Nothing in his house is AT ALL veggie friendly, he like... ONLY eats meat (The kind of dad that says chicken and fish are not meat, and tries to sneak broth and gravy into meals thinking I won't know)
I'm not sure if I will go or not. I DO like NY, but... Not when I stay at his house..
Aside from that I've just been super busy with preparations for paganfest, I've been working on drinking horns, making costume armor and belts, I made 3 bags this week (one for the beef jerky we made earlier today)
We've also been looking into the processes of making mead and we want to start that up soon so we can have a batch ready for the fall.
I've also been using my spare time to clear out my work-room (which doubles as a storage room, not I have a good portion to set up my personal space) I've been making tags and putting my insignia on parcel paper and other mailing materials (I'm close to having enough to buy my stamps, then using my stencil will be a thing of the past!)
But yes... I do apologize for my neglect. I have been checking in, but I just haven't had much to share.

Hey guys! I'm back to normal health and schedule!
General | Posted 12 years agoI was sick for a little there and then I had to go visit my sister again in New York, this time it was for holiday, not an emergency, which I was happy about.
We had a good time together, for a change we went to her place for a holiday and did all the massive cooking there instead of my mom's house :p
I've been really busy as of late so I didn't have too much time to sit down and check DA or FA, I've been working with my new pup as far as bonding, socializing and training goes. It's had me out of the house for any free time I did have.
So I'm sorry to have neglected you guys here. <3
I DID get all my mail out, so be on the look out for packages if you recently ordered something from me, as always you can check the status of your orders : HERE and for Wolf Talisman Jars look HERE
I DID make it out to the flea market last weekend, and I did pick up a few things (including an awesome set of shark jaws!!)
I also got quite a few fossils, stones, herbs and YES tails!
I didn't get a HUGE request list, so most of what I have is up for grabs. I'm in the process of photographing and uploading everything.

I have like 4-5 silver fox faces some of which I'll be selling at some point, I did not take any shots because it's hard to organize them and they mostly look the same, ATM they will only be for sale if you KNOW you want one, in which case I'll upload one or two on photobucket to show ya, but I might just make a few into masks, since most of them have pretty nice ears. Essentially ATM they're craft material, but I'll sell a few of them 'as-is' at request.
I did buy a surplus of ammonite, orthoceras, and shark teeth. I still have a lot of jewelry I need to sell before I'd feel comfortable making more. (Truth be told... I have a weakness for fossils among all other things... I can't help myself and I often buy more than I really need) I can take a few pictures if anyone wants to see them, But they're kinda annoying to photograph without having too much shine on them, which hides detail, so I'll only take shots at request.
Oh, and I'll be doing a digital stream later tonight, getting caught up on prizes for the contest we had at the bone

So, My BF decided to just dump a huge surprise on me today....
WE GOT A CHINESE CRESTED DOG!
The groomer his mom takes their poodle to breeds show standard and toy poodles, but also cresteds. This pup she was going to show, but was born with one nad, so although he's a perfect candidate for shows, he's not the perfect candidate for breeding. The breeder gave him to us for $200, and he's already neutered, and has had all his shots. Plus she gave us a few of his sweaters and the lead and harness. She also told us she'd clip his nails regularly for us (not that I couldn't do it, she just wants to see her little man again)
So now... I have a hairless dog! <3
His name is Frankie for now, but we're going to be picking out a new name. He looks like a little unicorn, he's so effing cute!
I can't wait to start training him, he's a good jumper, I'm going to try teaching him agility. He'll also be my new hiking buddy, I'M SO EXCITED!!! XD!!

Did you know Chinese Crested Dogs aren't even from China?
They're a cross between an African dog and the Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless Dog)
They were bred accidentally by Chinese sailors when they picked up both dogs to catch vermin on ships.

So I'm gonna start offering these, but I don't know HOW many I'll have to offer. I don't want to exhaust my own supplies. What I'll do is have people pay their own prices and I'll get a bag together for them.
the minimum I'll ask is $8, shipping for each bag will be $2 (for base price bags it'll be a 9x6 inch envelope with a variety of things like fur, bones, teeth, leather, gemstones, feathers, shells, ALL kinds of stuff!
If you pay for a bag that's $10 (plus shipping) I will let you request 1 item, not an exact item, but you can request something like fox related, or request mostly teeth or something like that.
If you pay $13, you get to request 2 things, and so on for each $3 you pay above $10.
I do have a few craft tails and faces that will go into high ticket bags.
I'm also going to make a few bags that will be themed that I'll show you SOME of what's in it, but most will be a surprise, These I'll 'auction' off. Post up the photos then leave them up for 2 weeks or so and they'll go to the highest buyer.
All items in the bags will be labeled, although I do have a jar of mixed carnivore teeth, I know they're all mammals smaller than a coyote, but I can't be 100% sure WHO they came from.
If you have any questions, or if you'd like to request a bag, ask it here, and I'll get ready to start packing things.

Now, my BF and I sorta neglected the fact that this past weekend was St Patties, so we WERE gonna go to the flea market last weekend, but ended up going out of town to visit friends. So I'll be going to the flea market next weekend. So if anyone FOR SURE wanted something, I'll need a deposit pretty soon, Depending on what you wanted fur wise will determine the deposit, generally I'll just ask for 5-8 dollars, which will be immediately refunded if they do not have what you want. I can get tails from:
Foxes (most morphs and specie)
Coyote
Raccoon
Lynx
Bobcat
Finn Raccoon
Marten
as well as faces from most of those.
If you have any questions on them feel free to ask, I'll most likely be picking up a few to sell, but I'm not buying any by suggestion without a deposit, just so that nobody backs out after I spend a fair amount of money (and time) picking these up.
