wisdom teeth?
General | Posted 13 years agoI woke up yesterday with a terrible pain in my gums, way in the back, it feels like I'm missing a chunk of tissue on the gumline. I went to the bathroom to check it out and just barely grazed the gums and it started bleeding pretty bad, it stopped pretty quickly... but today it's a good bit worse...
Is this wisdom tooth related?
I brush regularly and listerine twice daily... so I mean... It shouldn't be gum disease... but I guess it's a possibility.
Has anyone had their wisdom teeth removed, or run into trouble with them growing in?
I can just see the crowns of the teeth in the back of my gums but I've had the wisdom teeth in there for a few years, not fully "sprouted" mind you... but visible..
I don't have dental insurance.... so I hope this is just something temporary... And nothing serious...

Stream later? Plus, what I've been doing.
General | Posted 13 years agoI might do a stream later tonight if people want to come in, watch me paint, and chat a bit.
Who will be up?
In other news, I've been working on my mask and did a NICE thick layer of flour paste O'm starting to feel good about it, before I sorta was thinking it looked generally crappy... But I have some hopes for it at this stage.
Also, I REALLY need to pull the camera out and photograph some stuff, we're in this weird season, the leaves aren't in FULL colour, and all the other plants are just dead, I really don't like taking indoor photos, I like having natural items in the background. Maybe I'll just do some temporary pics and re-photograph stuff later.
I finished the bracelet I did for HyenaBlues, and Jesie's fan just needs the handle decorated. I'm somewhat uninspired.. I have a lot of stuff to make jewelry... But I'm not sure if I want to make more necklaces... I don't think I have anymore fossil necklaces in my inventory, those are all sold and gone. I want to make another fetish wall hang, but I'm having a hell of a time degreasing this coyote jaw... I think some of the stains may just be because it's from a pretty old animal...
Any suggestions for craft projects?

Portraits
General | Posted 13 years agoHey everyone!
So I had a lot of feedback on my paintings, and I did another one I'll be uploading in a minute (it's a photograph, but I don't have the scanner accessible ATM)
Now I don't want to take on more than ONE at a time, and I don't want to really do more than just busts, because I have trouble drawing legs... and I don't want to practice them on a piece someone is paying me for.
I'm learning to do anthro, but for the time being I'm more comfortable with feral.
Natural colours don't really matter, though I'm not sure how I'd do with imaginary creatures...
But I am still in a paintey mood :D
So is there anyone who'd like a portrait?
prices are going to be between $15-$20, if you want it shipped to you I'll need a little extra for the shipping.
I'll be doing these paintings on LiveStream, so you can come in and see your portrait develop, If anyone wants one let me know :>

Paper Mache
General | Posted 13 years agoI started my mask today, it's just going to be a plain "tribal" mask, nothing super detailed, or even very accurate.
something like this - http://maskmaker.com/images/lionmane.jpg
But not a lion.... >.>
Kind of like a hood thing...
PAPER MACHE! Who's worked with home made paper mache?
I saw they sell bags of "paper pulp" that you add to water and glue to make moldable paper mache, but to me all it looks like is mashed up cardboard... I'm thinking if I take some paper, wet it till it's thoroughly soaked, then throw it in my food processor it will be the same thing? No?
So far I have the "hood" and muzzle structures built up, so far it isn't looking bad... but I'm not very far with it... This will be a learning experience.
I got a few boards so I think I'm going to draw a little tonight, and finish up a fan I've been working on.

Halloween Costume...
General | Posted 13 years agoSo... I've been working on a few Halloween crafts and I wore my tail around the house again last night, lol, it's so cute :>
I was kinda thinking... I wanna get an opossum outfit together... Not at all like a full costume like some of you guys have, probably not even a mask... I doubt I could afford one of those nice ones, or that I would even use it more than once.. lol
But I maybe want a set of gloves and ears...
Would anyone be up for a trade for something in my gallery or something I can make?

Tiny things.
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm looking through ALL of my craft supplies. and I have pretty much NOTHING that will fit in these tiny vials I have :/
I really need to expand on my inventory of smaller pieces...
I /sorta/ wanna break something down, just to fill these jars... lol they're so cool looking once you get a few items in there but I'm not sure what to do... I might break one of the wolf bones... I wish I had some wolf pelt...
I'm going to have to be on the look-out for small things, even most of the chip gemstones I have are too big for these.
And would anyone be able to give me an idea of an economical way to ship these?
They are so small, but I'd need to pad them to ship them, and I know they'll cost at least $2 bucks to ship, but I wouldn't charge for than $5, is $7 fair? that's shipping included...
I always have a hard time thinking of prices on items :/

PowWow was oh wow!
General | Posted 13 years agoOh man the pow wow was great! I had some great fry bread and even got a RECIPE! There weren't as many traders as I was looking forward to but I did pick up a few things, some bob cat hide, a few weasel pelts and skulls, a few sage bundles along with some fresh cedar!!! I got fresh hibiscus, echinechia, and chamomile. I bought a set of antlers and some goat horns as well.
I sat with some of the drummers and heard a very cool story that I'll be doing a piece for. Fox and Coyote piece :> I'm excited to start on that! And I met another local trapper, so that's a new resource to pick up bones! :D
I sold a few pieces of jewelry, mostly bracelets, I'm always glad to spread my art around! It's always exciting to get rid of old pieces, it really gives me more drive to create new things.
I'm sorry I couldn't get those updates on FB, I had no signal out in York, I should've known >.>
I think I'll take my camera with me next time I go to the trading post and get some pictures of items they usually have in stock in case anyone wants me to ship out supplies.

TINY VIALS! What should I do?
General | Posted 13 years agoI have a dozen TINY vials, these are no bigger than an inch tall, super small.
And the stoppers have a hole, so I can easily sting these up.
I'm thinking making bee necklaces/earrings... but I'm not sure what to do with them all.....
Maybe put small teeth or finger bones in them?
Ideas?

Going to a Pow Wow this weekend.... Contact me....
General | Posted 13 years agoIf you've been looking for hides, bones, horns, or even just good quality burning herbs or other natural items I will be going to a Pow Wow this weekend and I can look out for something for you. I'll be picking up a few pelts and leather bundles at least, but I can pick stuff up to be shipped out.
You'll need to get in contact with me ahead of time, and have money upfront for the item, shipping would be determined once I get home. I can take paypal, I do not have much "play" money, so I won't be able to buy anything if you cannot pay me back that day. I'll have my mobile phone with wifi, so I can upload pictures of products.
I usually see stuff like red fox and kit fox skulls, deer bones (skulls legs ribs, everything) FULL pelts, halves, tails and faces from things like red fox, silver fox, coyote, skunk, raccoon, bob cat, and wolf. Turtle shells, buckskin, cow hide, horse tails, snake skins.
As well as many pre-made items like hand drums, medicine bags, wooden instruments, jewelry, etc
So if you'd like me to keep you in the loop note me and I'll try to send some pictures to FA, but I will defiantly be posting things on my FaceBook, which is public.

Brooklyn Report - OMG OPOSSUMS!
General | Posted 13 years agoSo I'm back home and I had a BLAST! The etsy party was awesome, though a bit chaotic, But still a lot of fun, I sold one necklace, that's a big deal for me lol, and I got a lot of great compliments on the few things I did bring up.
I went out to eat at L&B which I desperately missed! I haven't had pizza from them since I was little, lol! My sister knew 2 of the servers who worked there and they set us up with a WALL of icecream. LITERALLY! This thing was huge! And at least literally 12 scoops, DIVINE!
After we got settled in at my sister's place I went out to the car to grab my pillow and GUESS WHAT I FOUND!?!??!!?
BABY POSSUM! Triangle face giant rat hiding from some stray cats, lol
I scooped him up and we played with him for a minute. (more like really just pet him and took a thousand shots. I really would've kept him if my sister would let me bring him in the house. I was amazed how docile he was I'm sure he was just too young to fear humans. Well we let him go in a tree in my sister's yard and that was the best thing to ever happen to me while visiting Brooklyn, and also the most unexpected, ha!
The next day we went to a block party, I always love these :D Had a lot of fun roaming around and setting off fireworks I brought up. It was so nice to see the children's smiles when you light up those fountains, I don't understand why they're illegal...
Stayed at that party till 2, picked up some pizza at my ABSOLUTE fave place in allll of New York, Lenny and John's. It's on Flatbush Ave, if you're ever in the neighborhood, seriously. It's in my opinion the BEST pizza ever...
Day 3 we went to a nice street cafe that served UNLIMITED mimosas with brunch, I had some fantastic eggs florentine and a pitcher to myself XD We went to Coney Island to take in ALL the sights, and I mean SIGHTS. I always am so surprised with all the craziness that goes on there. I can't even describe this stuff haha.
Day 4 was pretty much just resting and laying around for the ride back home in the evening. I know it's the same time zone, and I didn't really alter my sleeping scheduled, but DAMN I felt so jetlagged. I'm all settled down now and I'm gonna get back to my normal relaxed life. I love visiting those big cities, but I'm not made for all that.
I really should've kept that possum, lol

ETSY CRAFT PARTY!!!
General | Posted 13 years agoEXCITED!
I'm going to visit with my sister in fabulous Brooklyn New York this week and she just told me that she's taking me to a CRAFT PARTY sponsored by Etsy!
They'll be going panels on stenciling, glass painting and designing postcards. I'll be taking up a case of my work to show off (and possibly sell)
I'm so excited, this is going to be a great opertunity to showcase my work, and network with other crafters!
Is anyone in New York that might want to meet there?
It's being held at Pier 1 in the Brooklyn Bridge Park (Where my sister got married :D)
More information is here: http://www.etsy.com/blog/news/2012/.....ft-party-2012/
I'm going to have to work on hand made business cards today and pick out some of my smaller works to take up. This is going to be a great birthday trip!

Conflict of Interests (Please Read if you wanted something)
General | Posted 13 years agoI always feel like If I'm reminding people of things they said they'd like to purchase that I'm pressuring them. I hate to be the one to bother someone about money, especially if they may not have gotten back to me because they have financial issues that crept up on them.
I edited one of my past journals to be a "On Hold" list, so that I can keep track of things on hold, but also so people can put items on hold and be reminded about it, privately, and with no obligation.
There were a few necklaces that several people voiced interests in. To be fair, and not force anyone into a commitment I'm just going to say as of this time it's all fair game.
So if you wanted one, please let me know so I can set it aside for you. If you find that you cannot play around with money at this time, or if you've simply changed your mind let me know so I can put it back out to the general public.
So far I really only added the 2 recent requests for fossilized shark teeth necklaces.
The list can be found here Items on Hold

New sites! [EDIT]
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm setting up a Furbuy account as we speak, and I'd also like to announce that my site is UP and running!
I'm still doing minor work, but it's to the point where all pages are pretty much finished and the galleries are all stocked. :>
If you purchased something from me in the past I'd like to invite you to fill out a review form located on the "Reveiw" section of my page :D
You can order items there, or here. I try to keep these updated at the same time. So without further ado, Here is Shaman's Yoik:
http://shamansyoik.weebly.com/
Ok, so I have a few things up for auction on furbuy:
http://www.furbuy.com/seller/ShamanYoik.html
I'm only going to feature a few items on there at a time, since auctions have to stay open for a few weeks and I won't be able to sell items though my gallery if they're posted there. I hope to just get more exposure than anything.
So if something is for sale on Furbuy, pretty much it's on hold till the auction closes, so if you want an item, you'll have to either bid there, or wait and see if it doesn't sell to buy it direct. I'll avoid posting items there that people voice an interest in.

Custom work, Skull Lamp coming soon!
General | Posted 13 years agoI just wanted to let everyone know, since a few people asked. I DO take custom orders on many items. If you see something you like, but it's not 100% YOU I can most likely either tweak the design, or just make something totally new. I have a 20lb crafting case with all sorts of things from gemstones to bones, from fossils, to charms, from teeth to feathers. Lots of stuff. So don' be afraid to ask if you have an idea for some sort of craft work.
I'm also going to announce that I'm working on a ultraviolet skull lamp. I have the top of a coyote skull I'm painting to look like a Mexican calavera. I'll be installing some UV LEDs and the paint is all UV reactive, so be on the look out for that. I'm not sure what I'll ask for it.... But I might try out an auction on it.

Items On Hold
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm setting this up to help me keep track of any items On Hold.
I sort of feel weird and greedy reminding people about items they may have had interests in purchasing, just because one week you have a little play money doesn't mean financial burdens don't creep up. I don't like to pressure people to spend money but if you request a reminder I'll send you a no obligation note, if something has come up, don't worry, I can understand not having funds in the proper places. Just let me know so I can put the item back up-for-grabs.
I can always make custom items, if something you wanted sells. I go to trade shows pretty often and most likely I can easily get materials within a few weeks. So don't fret. :>

2. Plain Shark Tooth Necklace for

Coyote Fetish Wall Hang?
General | Posted 13 years agoI have a coyote skull I'm not specifically doing anything with, I made that raccoon wall hang a while back and got a lot of response, If I made one similar but with a coyote would someone want it?
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8499952/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8500052/
I'm thinking $85 would cover it
I'd use similar items, full skull, partial hide, feathers, bones and beads.
The design would be different, I have quite a few coyote pieces laying around....
So yea... is anyone interested?

I have a plain clay pipe I'm going to decorate, both should be up within the week
And I'm thinking about making some troll instruments

BONES BONES BONES!
General | Posted 13 years agoMY BONES CAME YESTERDAY!!!!
I have a whole bunch of bone discs I just got in the mail, and I'm looking for ideas of things to carve into them. I want to do some runes in some of them, but I think I can make pendants with simple designs too.
Before I just go nuts carving random runes in these does anyone have suggestions for specific symbols they'd like to see?
I'm excited to get to work on these!
