So I just ordered some polished bone discs and I'll be carving runes into them, So within 2-3 weeks I'll have those up for sale! I'm not sure what pricing on these will look like, something like $4 a piece and I'll probably have price cuts for multiple pieces in one order.

I want to also try carving more complex things so if anyone has interests in Mesoamerican symbolism keep an eye out for those as well. I might do calendar symbols (like gators, snakes, jaguar, vulture, etc.)

But I can even do custom bone carvings. So if anyone would be interested in this, I'm open to suggestions on carving subject matter.


In other news, I recently found a muskrat skull, and it's almost done macerating, so it's just a few peroxide baths away from becoming my new necklace!



And I'm sorry, I really should have some new things up soon, but it's been raining like every free day I've had....

Well... I think I just ruined one of my burs carving stone, lol
I've been experimenting with carving stone, bone, and horn lately and I just ruined my diamond bur. I really should have looked up information on stone carving before I tried it out on my own, but I'm the type of person who learns through experience. Which is good in a lot of ways.

So I'm out one bur, and looking online it's going to cost me something like $10 to buy a new one. @.@


But now I know.... and the more you know....



What did we learn?
When carving stone using a diamond bur you must submerge the stone in water.


I also really should be wearing glasses as I work, but that's a lesson I'll learn once I injure myself. :p

Easily one of my fav songs right now.

So I just cleaned out one of my horns...
Let me tell you. Horn marrow... Pretty gross XD

I just gotta scrub off the excess bits of marrow and set this one to dry, either later tonight, or tomorrow I'll cure the inside and then I got some carving to do, once my brother gets my dremel back to me :D

My right arm is numb from drilling hole in bones and wood, and BTW, working with thorns @.@ you gotta be careful.
I couldnt image having to drill these things without power tools


And I just found out that my camera made it to NY, my sister accidently packed it away with her stuff when she visited.... So I won't be able to get any photos of the stuff I've been working on for a week or so.

Which sucks because I'm REALLY digging the weave I made and the thorn thing I'm working on....


I have to get to the store to pick up more twine... And my bone collection is running low. I'm gonna have to go on a good hiking trip or make a few bucks to get some more supplies.

OH! and my brother said he was going to get a casting kit soon! (he makes custom action figures [what a geek :p])

So that means I'll get to make synthetic items for those who would like "cruelty-free" charms! (Though all my items are collected from the wild so the creatures died from VERY natural causes)

I have 3 horns in my inventory and I want to try some etching.

I will be making them WITH a holster included, Designs can be totally customizable, but keep in mind I'll be hand carving the design in so it cant be SUPER complex, but will do my best to accommodate designs. THESE WILL BE TOTALLY FUNCTIONAL DRINKING HORNS. I would HOPE you'd use it. They will be properly cleaned and sealed so you're free to fill it with fine ale or mead, though PBR would work too...

I have one I made in the past, I'll upload photos of it later. It has a small "tribal" spiral on it.

I always find it funny how people can eat meat all their lives and be TOTALLY blown out of the water with disgust when you explain (even with delicate wording) the process of cleaning your own kills.


As if the stuff you buy in a grocery store was harvested from a plant, or some type of bush....


Also, when you get the wide-eyed stares when you say you eat venison. Like really... Meat is meat. Whatever animal your eating died regardless, Why should it matter what specie it was. It's all just meat anyway. (Not pertaining to flavour, just the idea of consuming a carcass)
