On betrayal, regret, and finding the way.
General | Posted 10 years agoPrologue
Timothy was a marvelous boy, he had been taught, and taught himself, a plethora of things. But one thing troubled him, and that was his ability to draw. He had once had a dream, if you'd not call it a nightmare, where himself was sitting, a frail old man, attempting to draw, but was distressed that he couldn't. Timothy decided, it would be best to prevent this from ever happening.
Part I
Timothy wasn't exactly fond of artistic things, he sought answers through analysis, approximations and algorithms. Timothy, putting that aside, went through. The first few days went smooth, as he sped through drawing basic shapes and forms. He even shaded them incredibly well. But all must come to an end. He soon found himself in more rigorous artistic tasks, that required of him a different way of thinking. He moaned and struggled and weeped and sobbed, he was accustomed to having everything come so easy to understand. He had no clue what he was supposed to do, where to put the shapes to form more elaborate, organic, and otherwise non-mathematical forms. This, therefore, was dumbfounding to him.
Part II
Timothy thought it would be best to analyze how others had done the things he had yearned to do. But in his mind, things were a different story. You see, in the world of analytical thinking, things are fairly straightforward. But in the world of the abstract, all such regularity ceases. He wound up performing an analysis on the abstract, and as he tried to make sense to no avail, time after time, with better approximations and algorithms, he got a better, concrete, picture. The problem was this concrete picture was not abstracted, he could not alter it. But he saw no other option. He grew a keen eye for discerning detail. One day, he was approached by a mob of angry artists, claiming that he had stolen. He tried to apologize, but he still felt regret. He saw nothing he could do to satisfy them. He could not understand them at a social level, due to a disorder he had since childhood, so what was he to do?
To be continued...
Word from the author
This story is obviously about myself, though my name is not Timothy. I hope you, the reader, can now understand my thinking. Again, I feel tremendously guilty for my actions. I will never steal art again. But then, what else am I to do?

A sincere apology
General | Posted 10 years agoI have removed the pieces in question, in response to a complaint about art theft. I believe it is wrong, but here are my reasons:
1. I needed the practice. If it was this alone I wouldn't have uploaded at all, see 2.
2. I was just using it as a ref, and was trying to be nice. I honestly regret what I did, and I will watch out in the future.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

General | Posted 10 years agoCriticism maybe?
General | Posted 10 years agoI've been noticing that I haven't been drawing so well. I've noticed some things myself, but I could still use some criticism, I want your perspective. If anyone could look at my art and tell me what needs to be worked on, please do so!

Any groups on FA for aliens?
General | Posted 10 years agoAs the title implies, I'm looking for an alien group on FA. If you know about it, please let me know.
Requests and trades closed, possibly indefinitely.
General | Posted 10 years agoI really want to improve my artwork and develop my own style. Requests and trades are in the way of that. So, they are closing. There is a chance they will be gone for good. HOWEVER, I may open request and trade SLOTS sometime in the near future, where requests will be randomly chosen.

General | Posted 10 years agoA quick (maybe) rant
General | Posted 10 years agoI can't model squat. Whenever I model, I completely obsess over every coordinate value having a nice neat number attached to it. Seriously. I was modeling a few minutes ago, and for 30 minutes, could not get the feet right, because I was contemplating on whether to make the box I was to subdivide 8 or 9 units thick. To be fair (not really), I considered 8.5 units. Anything finer, forget it. I just can't fathom things like a vertex with (3.183982,7.174295,6.159002) as coordinates, much less be able to create something extremely simple using that vertex. Sure, I'll allow rotation angles to get me there, but only if the original coordinates were nice, and the rotation angles are nice. I excel at math, do incredible things with programming, and even have the first 14 elements memorized (H HE LI BE B C N O F NE NA MG AL SI). Heck, I even wrote SEVERAL small software 3D engines (that didn't go anywhere, but still). Even for those, I obsessed with nice coordinates when testing (usually multiples of powers of two). My art skills are going down the drain. 2D drawing is already starting to fail. My character is EXACTLY 3 heads tall without the antenna, and EXACTLY 3.75 heads tall with the antenna. I am going to fail unless I get serious help. Something actually helpful, not a "suck it up and freehand it and eyeball it", or a "do something else with your life". Please, I'm desperate.
