Severe Lack of Frequency...
Posted 15 years agoConfession time. I frequent this place on a daily basis, but I don't really make myself known like I should.
I need to change that. For those who still watch me, expect to see more of me from now on. I may not be an excellent artist, and I tend to be more of an admirer/observer when it comes to the more suggestive pieces of artstuffs, but this is a community. I mustered up the courage to join. I might as well make use of this account and make myself known as well as I can.
Wish me luck, pals! ^_^

Time just flies by...
Posted 16 years agoSigh... not much is going on at the moment. I'm still unemployed, and with today's economy it's not going to get any easier to snag a job any time soon. Ah, well.
College is going well; I'm currently passing all my classes. Typography is proving to be a bit of a pain since we're now working with Adobe InDesign. College Math is actually proving to be much easier than I first suspected, but I'm just thankful the professor is pretty lenient with us and our homework; as long as we do it and show up on time, we're good to go. As for Rapid Visualization... I feel somewhat left out in that class. There are so many good artists in that class, it's not even funny. I know I'm not a good artist myself, but I try to showcase my art whenever I can. Unfortunately, my imagination receives little to no praise nowadays. Even online, where I did a few sketches of some of my characters over at deviantArt. Three different submissions, possibly some of the best sketches I've done, and they didn't receive much attention. Maybe I'm just horrible at advertising myself since I'm so gosh-darn shy...
...
You may (or may not) have noticed the sudden onslaught of Bowser-related pictures in my FAvorites. I'm trying to find more awesome pictures to put in my SD card for my Wii's Photo Channel. You see, whenever I'm busy drawing or cleaning my room and such, I turn the Wii on and activate the Photo Channel's slideshow, which plays randomly with shuffled music in the background. I've got a bit over 200 pictures right now, many of them Nintendo-related, and while that seems like a lot you can never have enough of them. ...I just hope there isn't a picture limit like there is a music limit of 100 tracks...
I also got the opportunity to order one of those AC badges. While I could never dream of going to one of those conventions (for a variety of reasons... I'd love to go sometime at least once in my life, though), I wouldn't mind having a little dream souvenir. And... well, it's Bowser! ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2443714/ ) The opportunity was given to me; why let it go to waste?
It's official. I'm pretty much obsessed with the big guy. <3
...
Ah, well.
As you can see, my life just keeps on being boring. ^^; I really need to find some way to be more outgoing with others... sigh...
This is Yoshistar Baxter, thePuerto Rican Hylian Nintendork, signing off! Take care, everybody!

Delayed Journal Entry
Posted 16 years agoDon't worry, I haven't forgotten about this site.
So, I've notice I'm finally nearing my 10,000 pageview mark on deviantArt (http://yoshistar-baxter.deviantart.com/). Not that it really matters since it's 2 years in the making, but it's still a great achievement. I don't have any great artsy ideas for it, unfortunately.
Lately, I've been under a big slump. Not an emotional one, mind you; it's more of a physical one. Lately I've been lacking any sort of motivation... It's making me even more withdrawn from people, and... well, clearly I haven't been able to draw much because of it.
I seriously can't wait until the last week of May. Not only is my birthday on said week, it's my break from college and I plan to spend it in Puerto Rico with my dad and sister, which I've finally realized have been more of an inspiration than mom ever was. I know that sounds a bit harsh, but her lifestyle lately is showing me her maternal instincts are almost gone. All she ever does is sit in front of her MySpace page doing who-knows-what with her "friends".
Granted, she's finally coaxed me into making a MySpace page of my own, but right now it's pretty useless. Here it is if you want to take a peek at it: (http://www.myspace.com/yoshikidthenintendork)

Alright, time to liven up things around here with a game review.
This time it's Rhythm Heaven for the Nintendo DS. I fell in love with the Japan-only GBA version, so snagging this gem was a no-brainer. Forget about the TV ad; it doesn't really do the game justice. With over 50 microgames and tons of other nifty features, this quirky little game is charming, addictive, and overall great fun. I plan to import the GBA version sometime soon, but in the meanwhile this game is just so out of the ordinary... it's impossible to put it down, even after having completed it 100%! I sometimes even play it with my eyes closed. The controls are simple, yet the games are challenging enough to make up for that. I'm not one to make a fuss about the dubbing; the gameplay makes up for that as well.
My favorite minigames so far are: Frog Hop, Built-to-Scale 2, Love Lizards, Love Lab, Remix 8, Remix 10, and Karate Man. Battle of the Bands is pretty awesome, too. My only gripe is the lack of a multiplayer mode. Other than that, this game is worth a rent, at least (for those who don't like rhythm games, anyway).
...
I wish I knew how to make myself known better. I haven't been able to make many new friends. I'm always available on Windows Live Messenger, but I hardly get any messages since I'm not very outgoing. That being said, I don't expect myself to start convos.
College-wise, I stumbled a bit at the start, but I'm catching up. Procrastination is never good, but my body is just so unmotivated, it's inevitable. I don't know what to do. ^^;
Until next time, fellow dA comrades! :salute:

Well...
Posted 16 years agoThat's it. I'm setting this site on auto-open in Firefox. -_-
Man, I haven't been able to draw much lately. I just started college on Tuesday, so maybe the boredom that'll stem from there will inspire my to draw again. Don't ask how that'll happen; I haven't a clue myself. XD
I'll be posting some stuff from my deviantArt site here, though, so look at them if you want. I'm not the best artist in the world, but I do try. ^^;
Hmm... not much to say right now. Ouenndan 2 is eating away at my time! I can't seem to put it down; it's THAT addicting!
Farewell and good day, my friends! ^.=.^

Stopping by... constantly...
Posted 17 years ago...and in secrecy. I haven't been able to put full attention to this site; I don't think I've drawn any good art that fits this site. Still, I stop by everyday at the break of dawn, just before heading to school... browsing around and hopefully finding something worth fav-ing that catches my eye (and sometimes mah pants, but that's another story)...
Perhaps once I go to college and start living on my own, I'll pay more attention to this site. Maybe even submit a thing or two. Sorry for the cobwebby gallery... ^.=.^;
I hope everyone's doing fine. I'm alright. Nothing much happening, just a trip to Puerto Rico on the 5th of May (for two weeks, then it's back to school just in time for camping... for another week). Oh, well.
