Update
General | Posted 7 years ago-Started the new job
-It's good
-It's challenging
-I vastly underestimated how high-profile it is
-I'm gonna be taking a step back from writing and the fandom in general as I learn the new balance I need to take, but I'm definitely going to need to be more private about my furry side for the foreseeable future
-I have a commission to finish and a project I need to complete, after that my content will be slowing down, Adrion might be taking more of a lead on the podcast as well
-It's a huge quality of life improvement though so while it sucks it's also a good thing
-Go Pats

Amazing news!
General | Posted 7 years agoSo a lot of you know I'm not entirely happy with my job, and I started taking commissions almost 18 months ago because I needed some extra scratch to help make ends meet.
Well... this afternoon, I was offered, and accepted, a new job that's only 15 minutes away that comes with a 66 percent pay increase over my last job. And opportunities for growth. And better benefits. And more vacation time. Which is CRAZY. I still feel like I'm going to wake up from this dream.
So, yeah, that's pretty exciting! I start at the end of the month. What does this mean?
-My schedule is going to be a lot tighter, as my hours will not be nearly as flexible as they were at my old job. At the same time, I've been craving that consistency, so it's a good thing. It does mean I'll have a lot less random free time that I use to write.
-I've become reliant on commissions to the point where I'm at the state of constant burnout recently, so after I finish my crop of January commissions, I'm going to take a step back from writing, focusing more on personal stories and projects when I do. I'll still be able to take on commissions periodically, for instance if I'd like to save up for something, but I might end up increasing my prices again if my free time becomes less readily available. I'll make up for it with some interesting side projects and some collaborations; I've already got one in the early stages with one of my favorite writers on here, and I'm excited to see where that goes.
-Less weed stuff. Not saying I'm giving up the ganj entirely, but I've gotta grow up a little if I want a stable career.
-The other side of that: I'll have more spending money, so I might be able to hit up a few more cons here and there. ANE? Anthrocon? Who knows?
On New Year's Eve, I was in a dark place, and Adrion texted me, telling me he knew 2019 was going to be my year. I doubted him, but... yeah, things are looking up for the wolf right now!

General | Posted 7 years agoOpen for Commissions (1/3/2019)
General | Posted 7 years agoHello all, I am opening up commissions! Big disclaimer: I'm raising my prices by 10 percent. Which really isn't much, as I'm simply increasing my word cost from $10 per 1,000 words to $11 per 1,000 words. Another big disclaimer: I'm job-searching right now and work/life haven't stopped being busy in the meantime, so my writing time is limited. I'm still going to make sure I turn around commissions at a reasonable rate, of course.
I'm willing to hear various ideas, so if you have something you're keen to see me write, don't hesitate to send a note!
Most of my other commission information is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8670119/

2018 in review -> looking to 2019
General | Posted 7 years agoA quick journal as the year ends:
-I didn’t have the best 2018 on a personal level. I’m disappointed in myself for not sticking with my resolutions - I’m still working the same job, I’m still living in the same apartment - but at the same time, I managed to learn a lot about myself and my friends. Earlier this year I started therapy, and while I’ve had setbacks, it’s been great for my mental health, with the side effect of helping me learn more about myself and become a better person. When imposter syndrome sets in, I remind myself I wouldn’t be surrounded by the friends I have, both furry and human, if I wasn’t doing something right.
-This year was huge for me writing-wise. I stopped counting my word count for the year when I topped 250,000, and it’s probably somewhere around 275k total. Commissions gave me the confidence to get better at my personal writing, which then made my commissions better, and so on and so forth. I want to thank everyone who has commissioned me, or traded with me, or worked with me. It’s been fun making more friends in the community!
-I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Adrion, who convinced me to start
TheAnthroholics which has been a ton of fun. It’s deepened our friendship and helped us meet new friends, even inspiring us to lead a panel at Furpoc!
-I also want to shout out all of my other furry friends, new and old! I’m not gonna list everyone because I’d forget some and I don’t wanna make anyone feel bad
-Going into 2019, I want to focus on improving my writing further and possibly deepening my business. I’ll be opening commissions in the next week or so, once I finish my outstanding story and get chapter 3 of Charitable Corpulence done, and I’m really hoping to set aside more time to consistently write. Work can be hard, my social life can eat up a lot of time, but I’ll work hard and make this next year a good one!
-If you have any recommendations or advice for me going into 2019 - things you want to see from me, things I could do to improve - please don’t hesitate to leave a comment on this journal telling me!
Happy new year, everyone!

Merry Christmas
General | Posted 7 years agoI want to get ahead of the holiday itself and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I hope that whatever you’re doing, whoever you’re with and wherever you are, you find joy, peace and happiness. It’s a time for celebration and togetherness, and if this year was as hard for you as it was for me, then let’s rejoice that we made it through. I’m currently watching snowflakes dance in the air as they slowly paint a wintery forest white; I wish you all just as scenic and joyful of a holiday.

Audience poll: what do you want to see from me?
General | Posted 7 years agoThe question in the title is pretty self-explanatory, but I do want to get a taste of what people want from my future writing. Things have been moving a little slow recently, due to increased work on the podcast, family health issues/travel, an increase of responsibilities at work and a busy social life, but when I get back into the swing of things I'm interested to know what people want to see. Certain characters, themes, settings, types of weight gain, story ideas, genres, etc., I'm game to hear all of it and I welcome your thoughts.
The Sorcerer’s Mistake, a fun dumb question I have for fol
General | Posted 7 years agoI asked this over on Twitter (@youcrazyforthis) but I think it’s a fun enough game to bring over here:
A sorcerer casts a spell on you to turn you into your fursona, but he says a word of the incantation wrong and you’re turned into an animal adjacent to your fursona (ex: I’d be turned into a red fox instead of a red wolf). What do you become, and do you complain or live with it?

Back from FurPoc!
General | Posted 7 years agoI had a really great weekend, some of which was spent at Furpocalypse in Connecticut this weekend! I was there later on Friday and during the afternoon and evening Saturday, and, well, I'll say I'm going back to furry conventions in the future, if you wanted to know how I felt. I royally fucked up while bantering with Boozy Badger (in a debate of "Pepsi vs. Coke," I meant to say "Counterpoint, Coca-Cola is named after cocaine," and actually said "Counterpoint, cocaine!"), I hosted a panel that didn't end with either myself or my cohost crying, and I got to meet some cool people in the community! If you were there, I was the cute guy. (Who alternatively wore a fox kigu, a Nick Wilde t-shirt, and stuff you'd see JT wear in the art I've commissioned.) Thanks to
AdrionKnollstead and
spicychaikitten for putting me up and generally being awesome!

Furpocalypse 2018 plans (leading a panel!)
General | Posted 7 years agoFurPoc 2018, New England’s Halloween con, is in two weekends. It’s also going to be my first furry con. I’ll be there Friday and Saturday for sure, Friday from post-work until night and Saturday most of the day until roughly 8 to 9 pm. Sunday is a toss-up as of now.
I made an incredibly smart decision and decided to jump in headfirst on this whole con thing. During the con, my podcast (
TheAnthroholics) partner (
AdrionKnollstead) and I will be hosting three games of Furry Jeopardy, your typical game show but with fandom-themed questions, as well as a Winner’s Round with as-of-yet undecided prizes. It’s exciting and I am nervous. It’ll be Saturday afternoon; if you are going to FurPoc and want to play, we’re seeking contestants. Note us at the podcast account.
I’m looking forward to meeting people and seeing what cons are all about!

Opening Commissions Monday Oct. 1
General | Posted 7 years agoWith only two projects left to finish in the coming days, and having pulled myself both out of a recent depressive episode and a pile of work that was hanging over my head, I'll be reopening commissions on Monday, Oct. 1. I know there are two individuals with whom I have discussed commissions with, and I am going to contact both of them this weekend before I officially open up the commission process.
You can find most of my basic guidelines here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8670119/
Keep your eyes peeled in the mid-afternoon (EST) Monday!

400 Watchers: Raffling Off A Story (CLOSED)
General | Posted 7 years agoJust noticed I hit 400 followers either last night or today, thank you so much! In honor of that milestone, I'm going to be raffling off a 1,500-word story. This will be a roughly 3-4 page story for the winner, it'll be your character inserted into a weight gain scenario that has something to do with the number 400. I'll hash out details with the winner!
I'd like to get some feedback from y'all, so here's the rules: to enter, leave a comment where you either a) name your two favorite stories of mine and tell me why you like them, or b) give suggestions of what kind of things you'd like to see in my content in the future. One comment per person, and if the comment doesn't follow those rules, I reserve the right to disqualify your entry.
I'll leave this open for 48 hours, so the offer closes at 7:08 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Thanks so much for your support, I really mean it!

Story Pack Survey
General | Posted 7 years agoHi, all, it's JT.
Before I get anywhere, let me lead off by saying I'm so thankful and ecstatic about the reception you've all given my recent stories. Your favorites, comments, notes and compliments are very welcome, and I'm so happy to hear you like my writing. When I started uploading, I dreamed of getting just a few favs on my work, and now I'm drowning in them. Truly, it's awesome, reassuring and confidence-building to receive this level of acceptance and praise.
That said, with commissions coming along slower than I'd like, I'm looking to branch out a little bit and try something new: a story pack. This would be a collection of stories I would wrap into a .zip file and sell on Gumroad, Payhip, etc. But before I get anywhere with it, I'd appreciate it if as many people as possible took this survey to guide me in the right direction and, possibly, to find out whether this would be a viable idea in the first place. It's a short 10-question survey with multiple choice and a few open response blanks, so it's nothing too serious. I'm excited to see your responses and ideas!

mental health and you!
General | Posted 7 years agoyesterday I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and it’s very likely I’ll have an additional diagnosis of major depressive disorder by the end of next week.
it feels overwhelming but it also feels freeing that all the pain I’ve been told to suck it up through, or ignore, or was fake or imaginary, was real this whole time.
now for the hard part: dealing with it.
