Here every day and haven't posted a journal in 2.5 yrs o.O
Posted 13 years agoSo my business has been going over 10 years.. and I'm still working long crazy hours till late with my daily routine of browsing FA for a bit after finishing work before bed to get my mind off work :p That is, on the evenings I don't go out...
Anyway, had to finally get rid of my old "moving up" journal boasting about the old house i moved into, which I moved out of a year ago :p Doing better and better, and working on plans to work smarter... less hours work for more money, basically - not an overnight task!
So yeah, on the down-side, I'm single again... after nearly 3 years with Akasha-Fox, we went in different directions. She's still a good friend and will hopefully always be, but we became too different for a relationship to work properly :( Not looking for anyone at this stage, but those who know me also know that I'm not one to turn down a good opportunity :p Realistically though I'm too tied up in work generally for a relationship at this stage, but hopefully all the hard work will pay off sooner than later..

Moving Up..
Posted 15 years agoNow this is quite something, finally a journal where I'm not posting about going on holiday =P Went away 6 times in one year...that's insane! 7 if I include going away briefly for New Years o.O
Moving up..
In other news, I've moved up from living in a shared house with friends, to renting my own house. Was quite a big jump for me because the previous house was fully furnished, this step required I buy everything of my own. This also means I won't be affording any holidays this year :p Been here nearly 7 months now, things are going well :)
New line of work
In addition to my current work, I'm now installing & maintaining wireless hotspots for various hotels, guest houses and restaurants. There are certain big franchises I cover exclusively in JHB & PTA :)
Ranting
New Telkom line - nearly R2000 bill for R63 in calls!
I already had my own line here before I moved in (used to work from this house, prevoiusly owned by a friend/colleague), but cancelled temporarily. They say it will take 1-2 weeks to reactivate my old number. After 6 weeks of hearing nothing, they suddenly explain a R700 deposit I have to pay. Then they install the wrong number, and the line goes down for over 2 weeks. They charged me for a full new installation, a fee to "change my number" and line rental for 2 months. In total I've made R63.06 in calls, and my first Telkom bill comes to R1730.78 excluding ADSL!!!

Life is a rollercoaster
Posted 16 years agoWent through a bad patch which affected my health (dizziness, high blood pressure), mostly caused by stress, though am glad to say things are pretty much back together now :) A lot of my outlook on life has changed in the past few months, for the better. I'm feeling quite proud about the way business is headed recently :)
Oh.. and I'm going on holiday..yes..AGAIN! Seems every journal I post has something about a holiday hehehe =P Going down to the coast again, this time for
electrocat's bday..
mushypea will be joining us :D That spells 2 big ZA furmeets, 2 cities, 2 days apart :D
Then I have yet another break planned for new years! Don't get too jealous of me, these are all quite short breaks really....erm...or I could use the "business trip" excuse *cough*

Just for kicks and giggles... post a reply answering the following questions!
Who are you?
. Are we friends?
. When and how did we meet?
. Would you kiss me?
. Give me a nickname and explain why?
. Describe me in one word!
. What was your first impression of me?
. Do you still think the same?
. What reminds you of me?
. If you could give me anything what would it be?
. How well do you know me?
. Are you going to put this on your journal and see what I say about you?
. Would you ever meet up with me?

Okay, so apart from a few minor repairs to go on the one car, and the other car making some weird noises, they're both... on the road.. over R11,000 later spent within 7 weeks!! Things are going well, and work has picked up fantastically, so overall I'm actually happy and not stressed out of my brackets as I was in December/Jan. Insurance made some blunder-ups, but I must say I scored when I bought a 2nd hand HP 9110 for R1000, got hit by lightning, and insurance paid out the full R6500 retail price o.O SCORE!! :D And another score... buying broken laptops for spares has paid off, got one for R350 with a broken motherboard, and another for free with a smashed screen...identical models! R300 labour later and I've got a centrino 1.73GHz 1GB RAM 60GB HDD DVDRW laptop! SCORE!!
Any furs who like wolves, and like vampire type movies (not that this is a vampire movie, but similarly themed), should go watch Blood and Chocolate. In some ways like a typical werewolf/vampire movie, but involves people that can turn into wolves (and somewhat romantically themed). Not hideous drooling two-legged monsters, but real wolves! I really enjoyed it :)
I'm going on holiday to the coast this weekend! YAY!! Was going with another friend, though at last moment his leave was declined..holiday cancelled? Never!! I'm not giving up that easily :) Thanx mostly to
Electrocat's influences, I'm catching a bus down and having a holiday down there with some of the local furs... can't wait! :D

Things are getting better...slowly
Posted 16 years agoCars & phones - terrible luck!!
Still had some bad luck with a few things. My one laptop (that I'm still paying off) and one of my desktops that got fried by a surge.. insurance won't cover them coz they say I can claim from the municipality - no such luck! We've since cancelled with Auto & General after our 5th refused claim in a row (including the flooding). On new years day I landed up sitting with 2 broken down cars - still saving up for the one, the other's alternator packed up :/ Thankfully I have friends that care, got driven around and taken out for parties and movies while I was car-less :)
So I get that car fixed, then get my Ford back, which broke down ON THE WAY back from the mechanic - been sitting so long that oil clogged the pickup - engine ran dry. After a week of more expensive repairs, I get the car back on a Friday, so excited that I went out and got a new sound system, then reinstalled it myself coz they wanted R750 to rewire my car (thieves did damage to all the wiring when stealing my last system). Then 4 days later the cambelt snapped!! And now the other car is giving hassles too...I'll have spent over R10,000 in car repairs in one month!!!
On the bright side..
Christmas was pretty cool...got a husky plushie (funny story), braai set, framed wolf pic, and other odds and ends and some cash. In general work has actually been going great this year so far! I've had tons of hardware sales and websites to design :D So yeah, things are coming right...and I finally got the phone I wanted, P990i (the nokia E90 is STILL awaiting spares for repairs), and I'm back on track with financials mostly, except for saving up for my car..again :p Hope to have both cars sorted in the next week or two.
On the down-side it does look like I'm single again, though I can blame most of it on all that's happened in the past month.. she and I have both been through really stressful times recently. It's probably better this way for now anyway until my life is completely on track again...

What did I do to deserve all this!?
Posted 16 years agoJust as everyone had been going on about how unlucky I've been lately and things can only get better o.O You have have read the journal about my (sort of) smash & grab experience over a recent weekend, and then various other unexpectencies and expenses..then my gearbox gives out 2 weeks ago Monday night - right by Hillbrow of all places! R3000 repairs I don't have.
Then Tuesday, telephone lines and hence internet down the whole day - yes, what a productive day. And on top of that I'm paying someone a salary that had to sit twiddling his thumbs all day.
Then Wednesday a lightning storm hits us hard and keeps tripping the lights, so we park off in the lounge waiting for it to go away - as if I'm not far behind enough on work (and financially) as it is! But wait..there's more! Drains outside block up and guess what - we had a friggin tsunami rushing through the house! We worked like crazy with buckets, arranging cyphins out the windows, etc.. my employee has since dubbed my office "little Holland" after all the sandbags we packed to slow down the water flow. There is so much damage - some rooms were up to 10cm deep in water!
Thursday we lost the decider game at pool league, dropping us from the 1st place we've kept the entire season. That's our prize money gone.. Friday my bank balance landed 3 times below my overdraft limit thanx to debit orders and clients paying late - u can imagine ABSA ate my liver for breakfast!
Monday there was no power here, so had to send my employee home, then in the afternoon I ran out of petrol on the way to a client. Tuesday my work laptop and 2nd desktop PC both crashed...no I lie.. fried! Motherboards fried...had no PC for my employee to work on, so paid him for the day testing dozens of spares and eventually managing to build a working desktop PC (with some borrowed parts)
Monday my web hosting service went down completely for a few hours, so I was flooded with calls from angry customers - businesses out of email can be a serious problem. This being caused by my service domain expiring - I swear I never received any reminders! Then other misc. problems arose during the day that needed money to fix, but I had nothing. No airtime, no cash, no petrol - that was fun getting out of. Suppliers are also annoyed coz I haven't been able to pay them thanx to all that's happened.
Figured a quick loan will sort me out as a temporary solution... Did you know that no cash loan companies are interested in helping business owners? Went thru the whole yellow pages - no luck :( On top of this I've been dating a beautiful girl who really likes me for just over 3 weeks - so u can imagine the impression all this has left! Planned a special nite this weekend to ask her out officially (for once I'm the one putting it on hold), and had to cancel due to the financial constraints. Glad she's giving me support and understands the situation.
LOL! And I used to complain about other furs always having miserable emo journals? =P Aaah well things can only pick up from here *thinks positively* There are good things coming.. looks positive for me getting a tender, starting with selling 100 laptops *rubs paws*, plus I'm meeting an investor this week, which I'm feeling positive about. *deep breath* Hold thumbs for me that things pick up!

Possibly nearly hijacked!!
Posted 17 years agoYes, fun n games!! Picked up my sister to go out, got to cnr Beyers Naude & Judith rd (notorious as one of the worst intersections for crime in South Africa).. I was driving with my window open *slaps self*...as I stopped at the robot some guy appeared out of nowhere, posing as if begging for a smoke. Immediately I knew what was happening and slammed my accelerator.. as I did so he dived into the window and grabbed my arm, pulling it away from the steering wheel - I got a bit of a shock and slipped the clutch as I pulled my arm away, then he dived for my cellphone as I accelerated again! Thankfully I was a lil stronger than him and managed to get a firm grip on it as I drove off!!!
Speaking of the cellphone...yes.. I finally have a decent phone! Nokia E90 Communicator :D Had to swap a full desktop PC for it, so it effectively cost me around R4500. Haha I keep swapping computers :p Got enough parts - only missing a DVDRW, for another decent computer to build :) So yeah now i got my 2 laptops and 2 desktops...plus this awesome phone! :D Wow I've swapped 4 desktop computers for other items this year already o.O
Could only LOL, went thru later with my sister and another friend to a house party, where the beautiful girl I'm dating was :) One of my friends explains that he got me a rather impractical, but thoughtful christmas present. In front of everyone, he walks out with this huge husky plushie! lol! So all in all, it was a pretty interesting nite :p Only thing worrying me is the scratch the thief left me on my upper arm, though I guess without transferring blood I'm not gonna get aids or anything o.O

Freaked Out
Posted 17 years agoMost of my good friends IRL know about me being a furry...there was just one that didn't that I wanted to tell, and the first I tried to tell before anyone else, though he seemed to avoid the topic. On top of that I ripped him off when he was younger about something related only to protect my own interests *slaps self*. Anywayz so he comes over for the first time in ages, drinking beer messing around on the computer, when I found the perfect opportunity to explain and show him furry art. He actually kinda liked the idea and even asked to see some yiff :p
Now this is the part that freaked me out - he then explains he also has other interests.. leaning toward homosexuality. That's fine, this didn't bother me - but then he started trying to hit on me o.O So yeah I'm a little freaked out rite now.. not the first time something like this has happened, even after I explain I'm 100% straight and have no interest in guys. Respect that of me and I'll respect whatever interests you have, but pleeease... don't try hit on me. Don't know how that friendship is going to go forth now that I know the guy has a crush on me *shivers* What do I do from here o.O
