Heads up! New story just dropped! It's one of the first MM stories I've committed to, and it explores one of my biggest sticking points about Pokemon: that people think Charizard doesn't count as a dragon because he doesn't have the dragon type.

Mega form aside, my argument is thus: species are not, and would not, be defined by their supernatural abilities. Elemental typing in Pokemon is a means to an end, defining the most dominant source of power that that Pokemon draws from, and is inherently connected to. But the "Dragon" type muddies the waters a bit, as it immediately puts this label on the Pokemon that assumes some kind of biological species-hood. If that were the case, then when Rowlet evolves from Dartrix to Decidueye, its new Ghost type would make one assume that Dartrix dies mid-evolution. Clearly, this is not the case, as Ghost Pokemon are in fact living creatures (sometimes spawned from dead things) that utilize some phantom energy (likely from the Distortion World) more easily than other Pokemon.

It would also mean that Alolan Exeggutor is a Dragon.

It is not.

It is tree.

Now, into the meat of the matter, as a Pokemon Metabiologist [TM]. Just like every other form of biology, you are not defined by what you are capable of. You are defined, as a genus/species, by what you can breed with. And, as it stands, we have a very clear-cut mechanic to fall-back on called the Egg Group list.

And, wouldn't you know it, Charizard falls right into the Dragon egg group. Along with Monster, which are the "Kaiju" species of the Pokemon world.

I say this because none of this is really covered in the story. They don't biology yet. It's mostly a philosophical look at what makes a dragon, along with a bit of MM Charizard/Dragonite wrestle-sex for good measure.

I'm a bit... torn at the moment. Been going through a buncha rough patches lately. Probably some of the worst ones that I've had to drag my brain through in a good, long while. Normally, this is where I'd turn to video games to help me cope and keep me from spending hours and hours in bed. But, right now, a lot of video games don't really seem to excite me. Most of them feel like going through the motions.

But I have been excited for Pokemon. It's one of those things that really kept me going through the roughest parts of my life, and I've been looking forward to the next game. I still am. I know people have problems with the Dex Cut and I won't lie and say that there are a good bit of decisions that I thought weren't up to snuff, but I'm still planning on buying it and playing it...

I just wish there were more people to talk to about it that didn't completely hate it on principle.

I get where the vitriol is coming from, but it is pretty disheartening to know that I'm probably going to playing this game basically by myself. Just like the "good ol' days" of elementary school, anyone I try to talk to about Pokemon has thus far responded with a ton of negativity. "How can you support them," "I'm done with Pokemon," and "I feel sorry for you." I know a couple people who might pick it up, but... I mean shit, it feels real lonely right now to want to play the game. Not even as a fan of Pokemon in general, just as someone who has seen some of what this game has to offer and is interested in it.

This is a bit of a rant, I suppose. Nothing important. Just kinda pouring out some of my depression here in the hopes that it gets out of my head, and to see if anyone who follows me is still considering getting the game. I'm kind of afraid to open up conversation about it anymore, but if I let other people's lack of enthusiasm affect my desire to play it, then I'd really be screwed. I'm sure I'm also seeming a bit hyperbolic about it, but things do really feel much more skewed to the negative in even some of my most optimistic friends. I'm not gonna blame anyone for their thoughts, especially because I agree with some of them, but not with all of them.

I like the Dex cut. I don't really care for their crappy reasoning, but I like catching new Pokemon and going on a different journey than the ones I've had before. I love the designs of the starter evolutions, despite hating how I had to find out through a leak rather than official channels. There are so many new and interesting things to see and do that have been shown off so far that not being able to have Absol on my team for the 4th time in a row is suppressed. Hell, one of the reasons I loved Black and White so much was that initial limitation of only catching new Pokemon.

I truly hope that Pokemon Home has some battling/trading functionality that will help soften the blow for some people, but, as for me, I'm gonna be playing the new games.

But then again, according to a couple people, I enjoyed Let's Go Eevee, so fuck me right?

The laptop has been recovered! Unfortunately it was completely wiped, but after spending a week talking with Google, I was able to get backups of all of my work restored to the point before the theft.

Still out a Switch and eight games for it, but I'll take this victory for what it is!

I recently had a laptop stolen, which in turn has set back most, if not all, of my projects to their "zero" state. Luckily I've been keeping up with most of my commissions and have been delivering document files with my WIPs, so hopefully I'll be able to make up at least the majority of the progress that I've lacked. I'm also getting in touch with Google, as my Drive account, which I thought was backing up all of my writing files, was only backing up a series of now-defunct ".gdoc" files that really only serve, at the moment, as a checklist of things that I've lost and can, hopefully, recover.

On another note, the same thief that stole the laptop also got my Switch, so I won't be able to join you guys in kicking off Pokemon Let's Go or Smash Bros. Ultimate. I lost all of my games as well, but I do still have the cases that, again, serve as a checklist of things that I can hopefully recover.

Sorry for those who have commissions with me currently active. I'll do my best to get back on the ball with those as soon as I can!

I'm getting the first of my Wednesday submissions out! I'm planning on making my content more regular, so I'm hoping to be able to pump out a short story every Wednesday between the commissions and everything else I'm still working on. If I can't hack it, I may move down to every other week, but dammit I'm still gonna try!

I'll be posting things on FA first, then SoFurry and Hentai Foundry later. Inkbunny if appropriate as well, though I can't have any humans featured in those stories, so we'll see about that.

Another commission in the hole!  I'm finally starting to churn these out reliably!  I'm gonna plan for the release of one story a week, more if I can really squeeze the time in to do it.

Commissions are finally starting to roll out the door for me, and I'm feeling much more energized about writing. It's really got me in the mood to write some of my own content, so I think I'm going to start setting up a writing schedule so that I can get a constant stream of commissions, original content for Artimus and Adrusel, and maybe more of my Pokemon work if I can swing it!

No, definitely. I've been itching to write more of that for a while.

I'll also make some room for what else I'm doing. You know, as a journal and whatnot. Because I'm sure a bunch of you nerds play video games, too!

Got myself a Switch, though I've mostly been playing Oddesy and Stardew Valley on it. It belongs to both me and my brother, who passed it back and forth to one another as our Christmas gift to ourselves.

I also picked up the ultimate Weeb Machine, the PSVita. Currently, Breath of Fire III is sitting by its lonesome, because it's my favorite of the series and one of my top favorite RPGs period. But the main reason I got it was so that I could play Final Fantasy XIV while I'm not at home!

Truly, this is a marvelous time we live in.

But yeah, I'll be trying to write more for this year, and keep it going at a decent clip. I currently have one more commission in the works, as well as a script commission for an online hentai game. The next Pokemon story I plan to write is probably the second chapter of my After Class Breeding series, where we get to see the male student and the female Lopunny. It's been in the back of my mind for a while, so scooping that out and throwing at you seems like a good way to clean house!

Perhaps a son or a daughter of his, set in the 6th generation so that I can utilize the other ideas I've had brewing.

This is just a thought, and I'm not totally sure if I'm going to follow through with it yet... but I'd be interested to know what you guys think.
