Posted 11 years agoGoing to attempt to install some fans in my suit this time around. Stoked I have a hotel room this year ;-; Getting dressed in the parking lot and walking to the hotels in the hot GA sun SUCKED! I'm going to use the rest of this month to make some changes to my Plastron suit I didn't have time to do last time (funny how I dicked around till the last minute just like last year..)
Ah well, regardless, I will try to have fun with the project. It's supposed to look like a cheezy/campy Godzilla-Ultraman reject Kaiju anyway XD

Updating some pieces on my Plastron suit. Advice? :)
Posted 12 years agoAfter wearing it out Friday-Sunday at DragonCon, I made some mental notes on what needs improvemnet on my kaiju suit. With the help of two of my good friends we put it together in a little over three weeks. Thus, some things were jury rigged at the last minute and I knew there would be some repairs needed in the end.
For one, the hands. I ended up buying another set of gloves/nails and I'm going to end up sewing all the pieces on instead of the glue.. one of the fingers came off on Saturday (bummer) and I knew I would have to fix them anyway.
The head, as you can see in the photos has a piece of chiffon inside to cover my face. It was a temporary solution that worked out, but I really want to make it harder to see my face if someone uses a flash on their camera. It also blew around too much when I went outside and there was a breeze. I'm just curious as to what kind of mesh or similar material would work better.
The feet also need some repairs. We took blocks of memory foam we found in the garage and ended up caulking/painting/gluing them to a pair of shoes. They held up pretty well for the most part, but some cracking has occurred on the sides and other spots. I'm willing to start over on them if needed.. I dunno if you can just buy plain base feet for suits somewhere, but I'm open at this point. These could be a bitch to walk in as it was. I wouldn't mind finding something more solid.
Lastly, I want to try to install some fans in the suit at some point. The heat was almost unbearable at times. I'm really surprised I didn't pass out at the Star Wars track party, lol. A guy at the con told me to buy little computer fans that run on 3 double A batteries. I'm not an engineer, but perhaps there is a good tutorial out there somewhere?
Ah well, no matter what happens, I'm sure things will work out eventually. I don't have to wear it again until Halloween, so I have some time to plan things out. If anybody out there has any helpful advice, I would love to hear from you.

Haha, just playing around. But to some it might be that familiar feeling like when your 'mom' or some other person is overly excited about showing you the hamster dance website, as though it is the newest, 'awesomest thing!' It's my new toy, and I can't wait to play it!!!!

Hello again my friends! Happy Halloween to you all!
Posted 15 years agoWell, a lot of things have happened in life lately. First off, my love asked me to marry him September 11th. I said yes :D<3 I am very happy about that, but we have made no plans for the ceremony anytime "soon-soon" It's a new step in our relationship and it feels good.
Secondly, I was supposed to have an art show this month BUT the application got lost in the mail... sucks but that's life I suppose. I'm not all broken up inside though. I hate deadlines and when I found out the news I was honestly relieved to have a break from all the show prep I endured. Now I can slow down and finish my projects minus all the stress. I feel better about my work when I create it from my heart. The money aspect of it throws off my groove sometimes x-x
Blah blah blah.. I could ramble on but I really wanna get my drink on right now. I have yet ANOTHER Halloween wedding to attend tomorrow. I thought last year was a fluke but apparently not. Halloween is my favorite holiday and despite my happiness for my friend's union.. I can't help but feel a little festively-castrated about it. On the other hand, I can see how someone would want to get married on this awesome day if it meant the same for them as it does for me.. but, I won't do that for my wedding. Lol, oh well. *sigh*
Love you guys! I will become active on here at some point again, I just have so much stuff going on as of late. I'm gonna go fix that drink I mentioned earlier.

Hello to all my furry friends. Sorry, it's been weird lately
Posted 15 years agoI am off the Lexapro as of.. a month I guess. I keep getting these weird "moods" which may or may not be withdrawal related, but, I've really missed this community. I am trying to be me, I am trying to do "the right thing" for myself, I am trying to keep it together.
I just.. feel so strange. I can't organize all of this noise in my head and the thought of getting back on the internet and all of the potential embedded ideas frightens me if that makes any sense to anyone.
On a good note, I've adopted a 4th kitty, my boyfriend is wonderful, I'm going to be in a art show in October, and I feel I have made progress with my family 'relationship-wise'.
I want to say more but now is not a good time for that. Let it be known though that I miss you guys, I cannot wait to see what wonderful creations you all have posted and.. I'll be back soon.
