New Years resolutions (lets see how long this lasts!)
General | Posted 9 years agoso. after 27 years plus change on this earth, I'm working on 3 resolutions, all of them go hand in hand with one another.
1. Lose Weight.
My body mass index is higher than I'd like it to be. The spare tire of a gut on me isn't helping me with where I work. It's bad enough that i gotta fight my gut when putting on shoes.
2. Build Muscle.
This one is for work and self image. If you look in my favorites you'll notice a lot of very fit characters in there as of late. it's all motivation......I promise ^.^;
3. Eat Healthier
I've been dragging my heels on this one. I've already cut soda and most junk food but I haven't gotten any fruits and veggies in my diet. this is easy to fix as produce are a regular buy in my family, unless it's iceberg lettuce, the fridge in our garage is almost like a freezer and actually froze a whole head of lettuce (it's pretty damn cold in Utah right now.)
This was motivated by the pics in my favs,
theblackrook and his effort to lose weight, and a Fitness for Life workbook from the place i'm getting my adult diploma from. I got my old man as a workout partner, he's gonna be teaching me racquetball as one of our activities. A gym has opened up a couple towns over that has proven to be rather popular. We're sharing a membership (bill included) and I'm taking this week to 'wake up' my muscles. So far I'm enjoying it, but the diet is gonna be the one problem area for me as there inst much of a financial incentive behind it.
I guess a 4th can be Get more commissions. Now that i have an income I can start participating in that oldest of furry traditions..... hopefully without the part where I struggle for money.

Windows 10 is gonna have to wait.
General | Posted 10 years agoAs I type this I'm wiping clean a failed backup of my boot drive. I have a 1TB WD My Passport external HDD that I had intended to use for cloning my boot disc in preparation for testing the waters of Windows 10 on behalf of my friends and father...
Thats not gonna happen quite yet.
I had gone through 2 attempts with a piece of software my dad recommended me and both times it failed to deliver. Now my external is getting scrubbed clean via CCleaner to remove the failed clone. Dad's looking at snagging me another internal HDD for the rig to see if that will work but until then, I'm stuck with Windows 7.

E3 Predictions (updated times and stream links)
General | Posted 10 years agofor a Google Docs version Click Here
Well kids, It's that time of the year.
E3, The Electronics Entertainment Expo, THE hype train of hype trains. I've enjoyed riffing on the individual pressers at the past two E3's and I'm looking forward to do more of said riffing this year. At the same time I figured I'd throw my opinions and thoughts out there about the pressers and what's on offer, hopefully in a manner that isn't as ranty as the previous drafts.
All conference streams can be found here: Twitch E3 Page
Bethesda
Jun 14 @ 7pm PDT
Well folks, You survived two hoaxes leading up to this. Through all the pain, anguish and self loathing for falling for those.... Third time's the charm. CONGRATULATIONS! Looks like you'll be getting your "next gen" Fallout game after all!
I was expecting disappointment when the teaser popped up on Bethesda's site, I was expecting Fallout 3 HD remaster.I'm glad I was wrong. But man... but if it Was some bullshit like an HD collection for FO3 and New Vegas, It would have been the 'NOOOOOOO' heard around the world!
We're gonna see The Elder Scrolls Online at the show without a doubt. From people I know who've played it during its first run, it left split opinions in its wake post-launch. A consequence impossible to avoid after what Bethesda did to get TES on consoles. Said transition, as I learned more and more about how the past games played, left me in two minds about the franchise going forward. I was among those who wanted to see TESO see a return to its roots. That didn't happen so I bailed on the MMO before launch.
What I'm looking out for is DOOM, id Software's genre setter, and we haven't seen or heard much about it since QuakeCon last year. There will be gameplay, as teased by a 10 second spot.
Best case scenario: Prey 2 gets a reboot.
Worst case scenario: Fallout 4 gets pre-order DLC exclusive at GameStop.
Microsoft
Jun 15 @ 10am PDT
In 2013 Microsoft revealed the Xbox One to the world in the worst possible way, all to Sony's benefit so much that I couldn't riff on Sony what-so-ever. Today, Halo: Master Chief Collection multiplayer is still wonky, Russia's Halo Online reveal was quite the oddball, and RARE is supposedly making it's first worthwhile game since Viva Piñata. Given how well the kickstarter for Yooka-Laylee is doing I have to wonder it will be a full, proper game for Conker or Banjo & Kazooie. Given how Microsoft treats RAREs IP's, I'm not holding my breath.
One title we haven't heard much of was Phantom Dust, previously a cult classic on the original Xbox, which has had developmental drama with the studio closing. presumably it is still in development, the last we heard of this title was a leak to Kotaku that featured prototype gameplay footage.
And first the first time in GOD KNOWS HOW LONG.... Windows. to what degree they will talk about it I have no Idea. They had talked about this in the past going as far back of February. The sudden upsurge of Linux support from the likes of Unreal Engine 4 and Cryengine, and SteamOS looking to compete as a gaming first OS looks to be the driving force behind this. But would they give us Halo 3 or 4 or a working Master Chief Collection games outside of XBox? Ever since the XBox first launched they've pretty much relegated their primary consumer OS to a landfill for 3rd party titles and half assed ports.
They have back pedaled before, and PC hasn't had a star first party AAA title since Halo 2, they'll need to change that this year if they wanna keep the PC gaming crowds attention.
Best case scenario: Halo: Master Chief Collection gets working port to PC, DirectX12 gives XBox One an edge over Playstation 4, Banjo-Kazooie and/or Conker return to form.
Worst case scenario: RARE closes it's doors the week after.
Electronic Arts
Jun 15 @ 1pm PDT
Of all the pressers this E3, this one is probably the most predictable:
Mass Effect '4'
Mirror's Edge 2
Star Wars Battlefront
MADDEN NFL 16
NBA Live 16
FIFA 16
NHL 16
EA Sports MMA
Always Online Need For Speed
...and a shit ton of DLC.
The Two-Time Worst Company In The World has been trying to un-fuck itself lately, and while it's nice that they are trying, they could be doing more.
I have a soft spot for Criterion Games. They caught me with Burnout Revenge on PS2, enough to get me onto Burnout Paradise when it first launched. but then the preactice started coming in hard (I'd wager at the behest of EA management) and suddenly I was gated from the content my PSN lackeys were doing. Criterion has a currently unnamed IP they teased last year that went "beyond cars" and it looks a bit crazy, the kind of crazy that I fancy.
And of course, what would an E3 EA presser be without their flagship developer, Bioware? If they didn't have EA as an owner they'd still be as good as they are today, if not better. I have more interest in Mass Effect than I do Dragon Age, if not because of what has been leaked lately!
The silver lining for EA is their habit of studio closures, after E3, which of EA's developers will be the next one to shut down? Waystone Games got shuttered when they realised Dawngate couldn't compete with League of Legends. On the other hand, Visceral, who jim Sterling felt would be next on the chopping block, survived this round with Battlefield Hardline.
Best case scenario: Star Wars X-Wing Alliance gets a True-To-Form sequel, Star Wars 1313 revived.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh820gAO7e8
Worst case scenario: Nothing but DLC.
Ubisoft
Jun 15 @ 3pm PDT
The only peep of The Division that we have heard is it's delay announcement. There's also that new entry in the far to long list of Assassin's Creed games, and a Watch_Dogs sequel.
I'm also one of those guys who is still waiting for any sort of word on Beyond Good and Evil 2 which has been in development on and off since early to mid '08. If this trend continues. I'm declaring it vaporware and not bothering with it further.
Best case scenario: Rayman gets another 3D platformer, Beyond Good and Evil 2 goes full speed ahead.
Worst case scenario: Rabids.
Sony
Jun 15 @ 6pm PDT
Credit to Sony where it's due, the past 2 years have been good for the Playstation 4, single handedly demonstrating the importance of consumer loyalty and reaping the benefits thereof at the same time! For there games library, Destiny is doing well on there platform, LBP3 makes me long for a PS4, Dead Island is gonna stop pretending to be serious, and Bloodborne looks AMAZING!
For all the ooh's and ahh's that No Mans Sky gets I'm not looking forward to it, The color pallet is void of complimentary colors that are pleasing to the eye, enough so that it's hard for me to just look at without feeling a slight burning in the retinas.
Without a doubt there will be some updates on Uncharted 4 and Street Fighter V, a new trailer for the Ratchet & Clank movie with it's already interesting supporting cast and maybe more of that Powers series.
I wonder if The Witness will get attention, the vibrant puzzle game is currently having money troubles. Safe bet is that there will be a showcase of Project Morpheus on stage, what those demonstrations will be is anyones guess, but I'd imagine that EVE Valkyrie will have something to do with it. And while i'm still on the mascot platformer wagon, Crash Bandicoot anyone?
Best case scenario: Crash Bandicoot, Vita gets the love it needs, The Last guardian shows up!
Worst case scenario: Project Morpheus gets 599USD pricetag
Nintendo
Jun 16 @ 9am PDT
Not a lot to say about this one.
I've often skipped out on Nintendo's livestreams in the past but this one has my attention for StarFox, which has been in the works and mostly under wraps. My hope is that it will remain a rail shooter, and IF it takes fox out of the cockpit, then it at least keeps those segments on rails as well, sorta in the vein of the Star Wars Rebel Assault games. the news that the currently untitled Legend of Zelda title won't make an appearance, was hoping to see if a plot has been thought up in time for reveal.
theres also that recently announced Nintendo World Championships revival that's gonna happen, I like my competitive gaming so I'll probably give it a look. Lastly there is DeNA, the mobile games developer that has shown some success with Final Fantasy Record Keeper.
Best case scenario: Starfox stays on rails, Cancellation of the yakuza-style YouTube racketeering operation.
Worst case scenario: Game cancellations. the yakuza-style YouTube racketeering operation extends to livestreams.
Square Enix
Jun 16 @ 10am PDT
I'm calling it. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be the opener for this presser. the trailer has given us a tiny ass preview of what is to come and I'd love to see more. I'm also hoping for more Just Cause 3 gameplay now that that has been confirmed as being a thing. Triad Wars, which is the sequel to Sleeping Dogs, which is the Sequel to the True Crime games, (inhales) should be getting a spotlight, as well as Rise of The Tomb Raider, which I'm looking forward to.
Unfortunately Final Fantasy 15 will be taking a rain check in favor of Gamescom, but there's still hope for more on Kingdom Hearts 3, last we heard about KH3 was a transition to the Unreal Engine due to issues with the Luminous Engine.
Final Fantasy 7 is arguably the most storied of the franchise, Ever since the PS3 tech demo in 2005, Fans have clamored for an HD remake. Instead it got ported to PS3 from PC, and more recently PS4, the latter's reception went about as well as you'd expect...
I completely understand that they lack the manpower to make it happen right away, they got KH3, FF14 online, and FF15 on their plate after all, but I have to imagine that 2 years from now when the game celebrates it's 20th anniversary that they will walk out on stage at E3 or Tokyo Game Show and loudly exclaim:
"ALRIGHT! FINE!! HERE'S YOUR FUCKING HD REMAKE!!!"
Best case scenario: Final Fantasy 7 HD remake.
Worst case scenario: Final Fantasy 13-4!
And Finally...
PC Gaming Show
Jun 16 @ 5pm PDT
On behalf of the much scorned PC gamers of the world... THANK YOU!
Theres a lot of PC heavy studios on this list, so I'm rather surprised that AMD, rather than NVIDIA, partnered with PC Gamer to make this event happen, especially given AMD's position in the console market. that said, this is the presser I'll be glued to. Blizzard Entertainment has Overwatch in the wings and the Heroes of The Storm go open beta just last month. Bohemia will likely have something for Arma 3 on display. Humble Bundle is slated to make an appearance as well as gaming icons Dean hall and Cliff Blezinski.
Epic Games who's crowd sourcing the development of the free to play Unreal Tournament, hasn't made any statement on whether or not they plan to make an appearance.
Microsoft is a surprise entry into this already loaded show. Supposedly Microsoft is trying to make Xbox a brand rather than just a console, I can only hope that microsoft's appearance here won't be just a PR move.
One thing you can count on to NOT show up is Half Life. Gabe Newell has already stated not once, but TWICE, that they just don't want to make HL3. they MOBA's now, m'kay?
Best case scenario: Valve highers more personnel onto the support staff.
Worst case scenario: Phil Spencer AND Sean Plott make fools of themselves.
Well kids, It's that time of the year.

The Seasons Wishlists
General | Posted 11 years agoAmazon Wishlist
Steam Wishlist
It's getting that time of the year, and since Black Friday is gone and all the crazy people with it I figured it would now be safe to post these here.
Among the items in the amazon wishlist are components to a dream build for my next PC, one where money is no object. not on the list is all the liquid cooling needed for the motherboard, 4 video cards and CPU. The rest are decorative vanity items.
My Newegg wishlist looks about the same with the computer parts save for THIS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ.....82E16811108128
It's too pretty not to have for the dream rig. Unfortunately Amazon does not carry the S-Frame.

Guild Wars 2 (to uninstall or not to uninstall)
General | Posted 11 years agoI've had this game sitting on my harddisk collecting dust and I'm contemplating removing it.
The only guy I have played it with was the same guy who got me the game so i could play it with him. We haven't played it since.. I have participated in the TailSwishers guild for about a week during the Dragon Bash event before ditching it. I'm sorry but NO IT IS NOT OKAY TO THROW THE WORD FAG AROUND IN REFERENCE TO HOMOSEXUALS LIKE KATT WILLIAMS DROPPING F-BOMBS. EVEN IF YOU ARE THE GUILD LEADER!
eugh...
Additionally, I'm struggling with the combat difficulty of the main quest where I am dependent on having another player character with me. While there is a sale going on at the time of this posting I doubt it will garner any interest with my other friends i play games with regularly. two of them are occupied with Final Fantasy 14, one has gotten tired of hotkey mmo combat (scratch that. he's on Warlords of Draenor this very moment) and I'm pretty sure the rest couldn't give a shit about buying into GW2.
Which brings me to all you strangers I dont play games with on any regular basis. Do ANY of you play GW2 and if so, in what capacity and what server?
The only guy I have played it with was the same guy who got me the game so i could play it with him. We haven't played it since.. I have participated in the TailSwishers guild for about a week during the Dragon Bash event before ditching it. I'm sorry but NO IT IS NOT OKAY TO THROW THE WORD FAG AROUND IN REFERENCE TO HOMOSEXUALS LIKE KATT WILLIAMS DROPPING F-BOMBS. EVEN IF YOU ARE THE GUILD LEADER!

General | Posted 11 years agoYou are writing a script to a movie, the script calls for someone to die. However the whole gag(?) of killing off the black character has gotten old and stale to where the near entirety of the internet cries racism. Should you happen into this predicament then I recommend considering my favorite chronically killed actor...
Sean Bean!
while I have only really seen him die in two films, GoldenEye and LOTR: Fellowship, his deaths in a good number of his roles have given him the above mentioned title. But where and how do the numbers fit in to the picture? Lets start with one that I can answer right away: Life/Death Ratio.
As far as I have been able to tell, Mr Bean holds the lead at 21 deaths and is 1 of only 4 English speaking actors with a double digit death count to there name (the others are Robert De Niro at 14, Bruce Willis at 11 and Johnny Depp at 10.) source. But what was surprising to me was how many times his characters have survived, that number? 44! (This number includes his role as the titular character in the British TV drama Sharpe.) source. These numbers give us Sean's L/D Ratio of 2.0952381
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, this is not the first question that came to my head when thinking about this whole topic. the initial question was:
What is the average lifespan of a Sean Bean Character?
To tackle that question I would have to watch all 21 of those films in which he died, this would call for finding the total length of time between his first appearance in an individual film to the time of death. For GoldenEye this would be when Alec Trevelyan jumps Bond from the shadows to when the satellite dish lands on him. At the time of this writing I have not undertaken this task but it would make for some interesting homework! so I'll see how many of these films I can push myself to watch.
Meanwhile if you wanna help, by all means list your total times in the comments below. I'm only counting Hours:Minuets:Seconds, I'm not including milliseconds so the time stamp on your DVD player should do just fine.
Good Luck.

Dare To Be Curious *Update*
General | Posted 11 years agoI'm gonna talk at length about these two topics so do bare with me.
I took the time to observe two human behaviors that occur at the same time anyone is slighted in some way, shape or form or otherwise: Knee-jerk and Hyperbole.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes these two on there website as follows
Knee-jerk (adjective)
: often reacting quickly and without thought
hy·per·bo·le (noun)
: language that describes something as better or worse than it really is
Everyone has had to have utilized these two at least once in there life (myself included.) And in the age of social media we get to see MORE of it!
There are several examples for both but mostly for the negative side of things, though two I know of where folks have cheered are the initial SOPA/PIPA uprising, and GameStop's previous restructuring.
"SOPA IS DEFEATED, CONGRESS LEARNED TO BE OUR BITCH!!!"
No it didn't. It got revived in the form CISPA which also came back in the form of CISA. http://www.cispaisback.org/
"GAMESTOP IS CLOSING ITS STORES, THEY'RE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!!!"
No they're not. the closure of 130 stores was in the wake of a partnership with AT&T inc. they still have 6,457 as of late april acording to a story by the Dallas Business Journal, and they still own Spring Mobile, Simply Mac AND Cricket Wireless. http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/n......html?page=all
as for the inverse side of things... where do you start? FaceBook's acquisition of Oculus? Twitter buying Tweetdeck? Google doing ...well, ANYTHING?
It's amusing and sometimes painful to watch depending on the situation regardless of who the supposed 'victim' may be. Sometimes it isn't a slighting, other times its an outright difference of opinion. If i were to say something with or without context, honest or lie, it will get a reaction out of someone. If someone were to hop on over to twitter and say something like...
JoeSomethingSomething1234
"that (derogatory insult) deserved what she got."
...someone will gaze upon that tweet, promptly gasp at the sheer horror and thoroughly lash out at that individual. now said tweet could have been about someone who became the victim of a violent, immoral and likely illegal act. Or it could be a comment on some vile individual who recently had it stuck to them.
I personally see Knee-jerk and Hyperbole as two small flaws of the human character. Recently when I see something that would get me to react in those ways, i try to pause at that moment, take a step back, have a good hard look at what im seeing/hearing/reading and then give a more proper reaction or statement on the matter. It has helped at many an occasion to help me see a situation, and with it the world, from a few different angles.
this whole change at my worldview and the like has inspired me to try something. In the past I have had a couple cracks at doing a sports blog, both times taught me just how few friends I have who care about sports. So instead of one subject, why not all the subjects as they come up and/or interest me.
I wanna see just how curious everyone is, I wanna see how complex the answers really are.
Starting now I'm gonna dare myself to be curious, and I aim to share what I learn with all those who give a damn cause god damn it... I need a hobby!
By the by, this video is totally realivant as Knee-Jerk and Hyperbole involve emotion.

Eye Dee Four!
General | Posted 11 years agoAhh, Independence Day!
A day we celebrate all things american... whatever that means.
It's easy for Americans to forget what this nation went through to get to where it is: The invasion and slaughter of Native Americans as a thanks for allowing the Anglo Saxon elite to live on there homeland regardless of permission. Used black slaves to do all manual labor for us. Worshiping a deity called God and asking him (at least they referred to god as a dude) to 'bless us' as so many people of faith do daily and embrace something called Patriotism... I guess.
Oh, and did I mention the slaughter of Native Americans?
But the best part about the 4th of July? We get to stuff our faces with grilled, processed meat products n' byproducts and blow up shit that was made in China! What's more american than goods made in china after all?
I've been watching youtube channel Crash Course lately (focusing on the US history playlist.) Given that history was my worst subject I missed a lot. though the textbooks probably didn't mention that the 4th was the day the United States government approved the deceleration of independence that congress passed 2 days prior but did not sign until the 2nd of August!
After the revolutionary war, both Canada and Great Britain abolished slavery well before the states did. Being a Protestant back then wasn't just the norm, it was the expectation, Following anything else will see you degraded or Killed, as is what happened to Joseph Smith when he promoted the practice of polygamy (I would like to point out that people to this day are still killed here in the states for being different and my stance on polygamy is quite neutral!)
So yeah, we butchered Brits, Natives and Neighbors in the name of freedom (for white peoples of protestant faith) and sovereignty from the British commonwealth... I'm not much of a patriot, never have been and possibly never will be. I am of the belief that patriotism equals Pride: the deadliest of The 7 Deadly Sins.
Happy Independence Day!
p.s. I did mention the slaughter of Native Americans, right?
